Bible Dating Advice 101

When it comes to dating, the Bible isn’t the first place you’d think of when looking for dating advice. Usually your best friends or your sister seem like the perfect people to get a lesson from on the subject. But believe it or not, the Bible is filled with hundreds of simple tips that all of us should take notes on. Here are three of my favorites :).
First and foremost, I think one of the most important things in a relationship is building each other up. If you’re getting to know a person that puts you down or isn’t a positive influence, get out of that relationship! 1 Corinthians 13:7 says, “Love always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always preservers.” Live by it!
Romans 12:9 says, “Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.” This is so important, not just in the dating aspect of your life. If you and your boyfriend/girlfriend “cling to what is good,” your relationship will go much smoother. And for love to be sincere means that everything you do be honest and loyal. If that’s not good advice, I don’t know what is!
One of my absolute favorite verses in the Bible is 1 Corinthians 13:4. It says, “Love is patient, love in kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.” Any relationship you have in your life, whether it be romantic or between friends and family, needs patience and kindness. If you live by this, you can’t go wrong!
Good luck :)! - Chelsea
