I don’t know about you, but I stick to working out so much better when I have a plan or schedule to stick to. I’ve been looking for a good ab schedule to stick to that tells me the exact exercises to do and how many of each to do. I have a hard time thinking of what exercises I should do when I am working out so it is super helpful to have something that tells you exactly what to do. I found the perfect ab plan! I’m a late night snacker. Ill admit it! Sometimes the late night muchies just hit you out of no-where! Researchers link late night snacking calories to be the potential for weight gain, and studies have also shown that eating right before bed can make your sleep more restless! Buuuuut, how uncomfortable is it going to sleep with a growling stomach?! This is where low cal, sleep friendly snacks come in! Here is a few for the next time you have to answer the call of the late night munchies.


  1. Baby carrots: At just 4 calories per carrot, what is not to love about this crunchy orange snack!midnight-snacking

  2. Banana: If you know me, then you know I LOVE bananas! Bananas are packed with fiber and tryptophan, which is a chemical that makes us sleepy!

  3. Apples and peanut butter: Delish! Apples are full of fiber and also offer a nice little crunch. When you dip them in peanut butter or almond butter, you are also filling up your tummy without making you feel heavy!

  4. String Cheese: One serving of string cheese is only 80 calories and contains good proteins and fats to help fill you up and satisfy you.

  5. Cereal: You can eat it either dry or with milk! But, when I say cereal, I do not mean Lucky Charms! I mean cereals that are whole grain such as oatmeal or corn flakes.

So, when the late night munchies hit, you will now be prepared! Reach for one of these healthy little snacks to kick your hunger to the curb!

I love love LOVE my long locks, but I would be lying if I told you I have never thought of chopping it all off. Sometimes having long hair is such a hassle, and it is very hard to maintain it! Cutting your hair short means a fresh start and a totally new look, and the long bob hair cut is totally “in” right now, but before you go cutting off your tresses and taking the short hair plunge there are a few things you need to consider!girl-cutting-own-hair


Styling tools switch: The tools you use to style your long hair may not work with your short hair. Big barreled curling irons usually get the boot and smaller thinner irons and straighteners will take their place. The smaller tools allow you to have better control of your shorter ‘do.


Style time: Shorter hair takes less time to style, which is a total bonus! You won’t have to wake up as early in the morning to style it and it takes less time to dry than longer hair does.


Hair heaviness: Shorter hair has less weight to it than longer hair. This means that If you have natural curls or waves, they will be tighter with short hair. I think that this is a plus because when you get out of the shower all you have to do is work a little product into your hair and you can let your hair’s natural body do its thing!


Save you money: Shorter hair= needing less shampoo and hair products!


It is drastic: Lots of girls have an emotional attachment to their hair (myself included) so the thought of chopping off your hair can be frightening. But, just remember, it WILL grow back! Buuuuuut..it will not grow back overnight. It takes minutes to cut your hair, but months to grow it all back. It is quite a commitment!


So, before you decide to board the “short hair train” give it a bit of thought!

Makeup removing wipes are uncomfortably expensive. I use one every evening to take off my makeup and make sure I get all of the impurities off of my face before I go to bed, which adds up really fast because usually only 25 come in a pack. I found a way to make my own makeup remover pads for just pennies and I am totally stoked! Here is how:


Ingredients:DIY-Makeup-Remover-Pads1


  • 1 cup of water

  • 1 ½ tbsp. baby shampoo

  • 1/8 tsp oil of your choice (coconut oil, olive oil, baby oil, etc.)

  • Round cotton pads

  • Small jar with a lid

Mix the water, shampoo and oil together in a cup. Pour a little bit of this solution into the jar you will be storing the makeup pads in. Place the round cotton pads on top of the solution you just poured in and press down on them to make sure they are getting wet. Repeat this process until the jar is full of damp makeup pads. If you have any of the liquid left over save it for when you need to make more makeup remover pads! Like I said before, these pads are super cheap to make and will last you muuuuuch longer than the pricey ones you buy at the store.

DIY Powder Makeup

As you all know, I love makeup. Actually, love is an understatement! Sometimes my love for makeup can have a negative side because it can cause my skin to break out. The harsh chemicals in some makeup products is not easy on my skin. I like to try and use natural makeup, but sometimes it is hard to find. Then, I found a recipe for homemade foundation powder makeup on lovesimply.me and I couldn’t wait to try it for myself! Here is how to make your very own foundation powder makeup.


Ingredients:foundationpowder21-682x1024


-Arrowroot starch (or you can use corn starch)


– Cocoa powder


– Ground cinnamon


– Ground nutmeg


– Ground ginger


– Bentonite clay


– Vitamin E


– Lavender essential oil


You have to tweak the recipe a bit to make it suit your skin tone, but this is how I made it to match mine:


  • 1/4 cup arrowroot flour/starch. (Add more to make a lighter powder)

  • 4 TB cocoa powder

  • 1/4 tsp EACHnutmeg and ginger (if you have more of an olive skin complexion you may need more)

  • 1 tsp cinnamon

  • 2 tsp bentonite clay

  • 10 drops of vitamin e

  • 12 drops of lavender essential oil

Add your ingredients to a glass bowl (not metal), adding the arrowroot or corn starch first, and then whisk them all together. Test the color of the powder by placing a bit on your neck or face with your finger. If you have sensitive skin or just prefer using natural products, then this powder is perfect for you!

Burpees are probably one of my least favorite exercises on the planet, but they are such a good workout! They work your abs, your arms, your legs, your glutes, just about everything! Usually when I am making up a workout routine I incorporate burpees into it because not only do they work a lot of muscle groups, but they also give you a great cardio workout! Here is a burpee challenge that is sure to have your muscles burnin and your heart pumpin! You are definitely going to feel this in your muscles the next day ;)


1 Burpee, 9 Squatsburpeeeee


2 Burpees, 8 Squats


3 Burpees, 7 Squats


4 Burpees, 6 Squats


5 Burpees, 5 Squats


6 Burpees, 4 Squats


7 Burpees, 3 Squats


8 Burpees, 2 Squats


9 Burpees, 1 Squat


Now rest one minute and then do the whole thing over again, but this time from the bottom up! So this means start with 9 Burpees and 1 squat and then go from there. I believe in you, ladies! Go kick some burpee booty!

They are the perfect mix of chocolate and mint! Mmmm my mouth is watering just thinking about them! Do you want Thin Mints for breakfast? How can it be! Well, try this surprisingly low calorie, healthy breakfast smoothie on for size!Thin-Mint-Smoothie


Ingredients:


  • 3/4 cup nonfat Greek yogurt

  • 1/4 cup fresh mint, tightly packed

  • 1 cup almond milk

  • 1/4 cup dark chocolate chips

  • 1 cup baby spinach

  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup

  • 2 cups ice

Blend all of the ingredients together until it is smooth, and then enjoy! The Greek yogurt is a protein-rich base, and the spinach gives you lots of nice Vitamin A! Thanks Julianne Hough for posting this delicious recipe on your website!

Any girl who dyes her hair blonde on a regular basis will tell you what a hassle it is to maintain it and how dreadful the horrible brassy color is that can overtake the once frosty blonde hair. Are you a blondie in need of some hair revitalization? Try Purple shampoo!

It is literally shampoo in a deep shade of purple. The shampoo works to neutralize brassy, yellow tones that your hair can take on after a while of washing it and not getting touchups. When we wash our hair with purple shampoo, our hair absorbs a small amount of purple pigment, which cancels out red and yellow undertones, making your blue undertones higher. It basically brightens up the blonde by restoring your hair to its former cooler color. Using a purple shampoo can extend the life of your color! This means less trips to the salon and more money in your pocket!


How to use it?


Rinse your hair in warm water before using it so your hair shafts expand and allow more purple pigment to get in there. Work the shampoo into your hair and then let it sit for about 5 minutes. Rinse your hair in cool water which closes the hair shaft, sealing in the color. If you want, follow up with purple conditioner!

After I work out, I like to make myself a protein shake to replenish my body’s energy and give my muscles the protein they need to help them grow nice and strong. There are a ton of different kinds of protein smoothies you can whip up, but the cinnamon roll protein shake is my personal fav! Who knew you could load your body up with protein ANNND get that delicious cinnamon roll taste!

  • ½ cup almond milk

  • ½ cup water

  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1 tsp butter extract

  • ¼ tsp cinnamon

  • Ice

  • Sweetener to taste

Add all of your ingredients to the blender and blend it all up. How good does this sound!? I love how creative you can get with protein smoothies. Working out isn’t such a hassle when you know you get a sweet, protein packed reward after!

When I first think of Vaseline, I immediately think of dry skin.  I typically put it on my cracked lips or other dry areas that need some extra moisturizing.  Recently, I found out all the other amazing beauty hacks that Vaseline can do and needed to share them with you!  Life just got so much easier!Chelsea Crockett- Vaseline to remove lipstick


  • Rub a small amount of Vaseline on your eyelashes to condition them and even help them grow longer!

  • Dab a little on split ends for a quick hair treatment! Wash it right out with shampoo and conditioner.

  • If your lipstick seemed to stain your lips, rub some Vaseline on them and then wipe it off with a tissue. The color will come right off!

  • Before you spray your perfume, rub in a small amount of petroleum jelly on your skin where you typically apply it for a longer lasting scent.

  • Use it with cotton balls as makeup remover!

  • For a cream eye shadow effect, apply some Vaseline on your lid before applying your powder shadow.

  • Having trouble opening your nail polish? Rub some petroleum jelly at the bottom of the cap to screw it off easier!

  • If your brows won’t stay in place, comb some Vaseline through them to keep them tamed.

  • If you’re having trouble getting an earring in, rub a little Vaseline around the piercing hole so the earring will slide right in!

Who knew Vaseline had so many amazing uses!

We all have our bad habits: gum chomping, nail biting, constantly fidgeting around, you name it!  There are hundreds and hundreds of bad habits that we perform each and every day; but did you know that some of these habits can actually be bad for your health?!  Keep on reading to see if you have a bad habit and how to stop it!


Food is one of my favorite things in the whole world.  I mean who doesn’t love a good snack?!  Unfortunately, many of us tend to snack when we are bored or when we aren’t even hungry!  Eventually, these snacks add up and can cause unexpected weight gain.  Also, if you are constantly snacking on junk food it can lead to diseases such as heart disease and diabetes.  Instead, try snacking on fruits or vegetables.  Make yourself perfectly portioned meals and limit yourself to one or two snacks a day!


Shopping is a girl’s best friend and worst-enemy.  Spending hours in the mall can run your wallet dry!  Most of the time, we end of buying clothing items that we don’t need or will only wear once.  Next time you go to the mall, bring a limited amount of cash; that way you won’t spend your life’s savings.  Also, before purchasing an item, try envisioning multiple places you could wear it.  If you can only think of a couple, then put it back on the shelf. Chelsea Crockett- shopping habit


A bad habit that I am guilty of is over-thinking and stressing about everything!  When life throws a million things at you it’s hard not to worry.  These stresses can start to take over your life and daily thoughts.  It’s horrible!  Instead, try to focus on the positive and make a list of everything you’re thankful for.  In no time, you’ll realize that most of the stuff you are worried about is small.


Everyone has a bad habit or two.  Once you learn how to get rid of them, life gets a little easier!

If you are in college then you know that a coffee pot does way more than just make coffee. That thing has a whole bunch of unexpected uses. When there is no oven around, the coffee maker is the next best alternative. If you are ever in a pinch and all you have is a coffee maker, then here are a few unexpected things you can make with it!


  1. Hot dogs: You can boil hot dogs in your coffee maker! Just add six to 8 cups of water to the coffee pot and cook two hot dogs for a half an hour.enhanced-buzz-6127-1370282000-1

  2. Keurig creations: If you have a Keurig coffee maker then you are in luck! A few easy meals you can whip up are Ramen noodles and oatmeal.

  3. Hard boiled egg: I love hard boiled eggs in my salads and just as an afternoon snack, so it is great to know I can whip up a few in my good ‘ole coffee maker! ;)

  4. Grilled cheese: Use the burner just like a stove! You can make things like grilled cheese, scrambled eggs, all sorts of yummy stuff!

  5. Chocolate fondue: Chocolate fondue? In a coffee maker?! Who knew!

So, like I said, if you are ever in a pinch and all you have is a coffee maker, it is possible to whip up your own little meal! College here I come!

Quinoa Buffalo Bites

Quinoa is one of my favorite foods! It is a miracle grain. It has so many great health benefits! I have recently started trying to live a vegan lifestyle, which means I avoid eating animal products, such as meat and dairy. I wanted to see how it would benefit my health! Although this recipe isn’t entirely vegan (because of the butter and egg), it came pretty darn close. I loooooove buffalo wings, so this is the closest thing I could get! If you want the great taste of buffalo wings without the meat and with a healthier twist, try these quinoa buffalo bites!


Ingredients:fd1571457da646b6bedf3b34ce0566c8


  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted

  • 2 tablespoon olive oil

  • 1/4 cup hot sauce

  • 1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt

  • 2 cups cooked quinoa

  • 1 cup cannellini beans, mashed

  • 1/2 cup panko bread crumbs

  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1 teaspoon peper

  • 3 tablespoons olive oil

First, make the buffalo sauce. Combine the melted butter, olive oil, hot sauce and salt in a medium size bowl. Whisk the ingredients together to combine and set aside. In another bowl combine the quinoa, mashed cannellini beans, bread crumbs, egg, salt, pepper and 4 tablespoons of the buffalo sauce. Mix the ingredients well to moisten them and then form them into 30-35 equal size balls. Squeeze the balls together tightly with your hands. Be gentle! Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add olive oil. Add half the balls to skillet and cook until golden and crisp on all sides. This should take about 5 minutes. Gently (I emphasize the word gently) dip each ball in the sauce.


Dip these suckers in Ranch dressing and boom, you have a delicious quinoa infused meal on your hands! Enjoy!

2014 was a year full of fun, stylish trends. Whether it was a crop set outfit with a pair of knee-high boots or edgy DIY shorts and converse, this year’s trends are sure to top even the cutest of 2014. So, what’s going to be hot (or not!) in the New Year? Here are a few predictions made by fashion magazines and icons across the planet!


Chelsea Crockett - Suede JacketAccording to Vogue, suede should be making a killer comeback! This material is different from most, with its warm, fuzzy cloth. It has a vintage look to it that’s classy and mature like the jacket on the left! Another look that is expected to pop up in the spring, is dark denim. Jean, jean, and more jean! Keep an eye out and you might just notice it in every fashion magazine :)!


Indy style was huge last year. Now the Bohemian style is making its mark! Colorful patterns and bright colors are great for the summer. Layering jewelry such as dangle necklaces and bracelets is another fashion statement brought from 2014 to ’15. So cute!


According to Glamour, one-shoulder shirts and dresses are coming back into the fashion world for spring and summer. Soon they’ll be in almost any store at the mall :)! Colors such as army green and yellow are both expected to be seen on the runways throughout the year.

If you’re in high school and nervous about going to college, follow your gut!  If you’ve always dreamed of going away for school, then do it.  Don’t let your family or friends talk you out of anything you have your heart set on.  If you have an idea what you want to do for your future career, always research jobs paths so you can go into a program with confidence!


If you get the chance to travel, take every opportunity!  Immersing yourself in another culture is one of the best ways to grow.  If you study abroad and learn to live in a foreign land, you’ll notice that you grow up quickly.  You’ll also have a better appreciate for the world and your own country, city, or small town.  Being away from close family and friends for an extended period of time will make you realize how much they actually do for you and how much they mean to you.


Growing up happens to all of us, but growing as a person takes time.

I am a runner, so I know the “rainy day” struggle. You want to get out and run, but the weather says “sorry Charlie.” Fortunately there are workouts for us runners that we can do out of the soggy wet mess! Here is a rainy day workout that works as a great running substitute.


This workout you will repeat 3 times, resting 20 seconds in between each round. This ends up being a 25 minute workout in all!


  • 1 minute walking lunges

  • 1 minute side plank (30 seconds on right side, 30 seconds on left)raining-and-training-image

  • 1 minute side lunges

  • 1 minute plank

  • 1 minute reverse lunges

  • 1 minute elbow plank

  • 1 minute squats

  • 1 minute plank

Remember, repeat this workout 3 times, resting 20 seconds in between each round! Get some fun tunes going to keep you motivated and to make the workout more fun!

Have you ever made a “Future Husband” list? A list of all of the qualities and quirks you want your future husband to have? I know I have. During a church retreat, one of our small group activities was to make a list of qualities you hope your future spouse to have. They said to keep these items on the list in mind when you are dating someone to see if they are future husband material! Here is a guide to making your very own “future husband list”.


  1. Keep your values in mind: The very first item on my list is “has to be a Jesus lover” because that is something I am absolutely positive my future husband will have to be.   2. Think of common interests: Do you like to travel? Then you want to marry someone who does too, or your family vacations will be miserable. Do you like to lead an active lifestyle? Then you might want to add “values fitness and a healthy lifestyle” to your list.

  3. Add in a few fun ones: I remember when I made a list when I was in middle school “blonde hair and blue eyes” was an item on my list! Have fun with some of the items! For instance, “has to be a pro snowboarder” miiiiight be on my list ;).

Have fun making your list, but you also need to take it seriously. Like I said, you can use your list as a test to see if the dude you are dating is hubby material. Also, when you are married some day it will be fun to look back at what qualities you wanted your future husband to have when you were a teenager and to see how many of those qualities your hubby has!

Most people every year think about setting New Year’s resolutions that they almost never keep!  You know what I’m talking about!  Maybe exercising more and eating healthier, reading the Bible every day to finish it by the end of the year, or possibly spending more time with family and friends that you don’t see that often, etc.  The lists go on and on!  (And I have to admit, it’s hard to stick to them!)  I recently read an article that inspired me to try something new. College is said to be the best time of your life. It is also one of the most important! There are so many big decisions to be made, and so many life changes going on. It is super important to stay on top of your grades during college, because many of your future employers will look at your college transcripts. It can be a little difficult to get good grades in college because of everything going on, and because of the difficulty of the courses. Here are 3 ways to get good grades in college!


  1. Budget your time: Laying out a schedule for everything you have going on can be a life saver. Once you have down all of your classes and appointments you may have, then you can know when you have time to sit down and knock out some of your homework. Definitely write down EVERYTHING that you have to do that day, so you know just how much time you can allot to each activity. There is no worse feeling than sitting down at the end of the day and realizing that you got nothing you needed to do done!

  2. Stay up to date on assignments: SOOO important! Procrastination is something that plagues a lot of college students, especially when it comes to big projects that you have a lot time to work on. Write down every due date in your planner, and get started right away on every assignment! You cannot afford to cram the night before something is due or the night before an exam in college. It just doesn’t work! If you work on your project or study a little bit each day, it makes life so much easier. All nighters are no fun, or so I have heard from my college friends!

  3. Prioritize: Like I said before, college is said to be the best time of your life. You can easily get caught up in the partying lifestyle and start bad habits very quickly. Give yourself one or two “free” nights a week where you can go out with your friends and hang out so you don’t get burned out on studying and homework. They also give you something to look forward to during the week! You need to make school a priority, even more than you did when you were in high school!

I cannot wait for college, and I bet you can’t either! I know you will be successful in whatever you do.

Did you know that there is a right way to wash your face? Well, according to many beauty experts, there IS! There are a few key things to keep in mind when you are cleansing that façade of yours, and I am here to make sure you are completely filled in on what they are. Clean skin= clear skin!


Here are some steps to take to take when washing your face.


  1. Start off by washing your face with warm water and a cleanser. Dry your face with a clean towel.wash-face

  2. Apply facial toner and wait for it to dry. Toner is great for those who have oily skin.

  3. Next, apply any acne medications or topical treatments. If your dermatologist has prescribed you an acne prescription, apply it now!

  4. Apply a moisturizer. Moisturizer is so so so crucial! I like to use coconut oil as my moisturizer on occasion. It helps heal my acne scars and is a great anti-aging treatment! Also, moisturizer is important because dry skin actually makes your skin produce more oil, so those with oily skin beware!

  5. If you are preparing to put on makeup, apply a makeup primer!

Boom, you are done! You have now washed your face like a total pro. Like I said earlier, having a clean, moisturized face keeps acne away and does wonders for your skin!

You detox your body, so why not detox your HAIR! Your hair is bombarded with chemicals and products on a daily basis, and over time that stuff can do a number on it. They can weigh it down, make it dull and lifeless, and make it healthy! The hair detox that I am showing you involves 2 ingredients, your favorite shampoo and sea salt! Sea salt is full of minerals. It removes dead skin cells, dirt, and product from your hair and de-greases it without stripping the natural oils from it! Is your hair in need of a boost? Do the detox below!Q1+Dry+Hair


Just mix 3 parts course sea salt with 2 parts shampoo together to create this detox. If your hair is in need of a little moisture, add in some coconut oil! Wash your hair with the mixture and then thoroughly rinse with cool water. Now this shampoo is not to use daily, just use it once a month or so to detox your hair and give it a fresh start. Using the mixture too often may dry your hair and scalp!

  1. Protect those locks: ALWAYS use a heat protectant when you are styling your hair! Hot tools like blow dryers and hair straighteners are BRUTAL to your hair! Have you ever burned your skin with your curling iron? That heat is being applied to your hair! Your hair needs all the protection it can get.IMG_6733

  2. Pack on the protein: Your hair is made entirely of protein, so you need to make sure you are eating enough of it! Some examples are fish, chicken, and beans!

  3. Dry right: Did you know drying your hair with a towel can rough the cuticle up and leave it frizzy? ‘Tis the truth! Instead, dry your hair with a cotton t-shirt.

  4. Be a better brusher: We all know we aren’t supposed to brush our hair when it is wet, but the feel of stringy wet hair isn’t the best feeling ever. So, detangle your wet locks and brush through them with a wide toothed comb! Much better for your hair.

  5. Save your scalp: Your scalp is where your hair growth starts, so a healthy scalp = healthy hair! Give yourself a scalp massage daily to stimulate the follicles and get the blood moving throughout your scalp. This can lead to healthier, faster growing hair!

I have super long hair and I can honestly say that I keep up with these tips! Having long hair takes a lot of work, but it is worth the struggle!

Rejection is a scary thing. We all fear it and let it control us. Maybe you applied to your dream college and received a follow-up letter saying you didn’t make it in. Or maybe you decided to tell your crush that you’ve liked him for months, but he’d rather be “just friends.” Sound familiar? Denial is discouraging, but it shouldn’t have to be. Here’s a little guide I put together for when you get faced with rejection.


  1. Express your disappointment. Keeping something bottled up will never have a good result. Let yourself cry, have alone time, or whatever you need to do to help yourself move on. Remember, it’s okay to cry!

  2. Talk to a friend or someone in your family. Venting is one of my favorite things to do to get something out of my system. Don’t feel like you’re overreacting or being annoying. If they’re a true friend, they’d be happy to sit and listen.Chelsea Crockett - Rejection

  3. If you fall down 7 times, stand back up 8. Don’t let your rejection control your future. Instead of dwelling on it, use it as a motivator to succeed the next time!

  4. Think of what makes you happy and do it. This might sound too simple and direct, but it’s effective. If I’m feeling down, listening to fun music and surrounding myself with good people changes my mood instantly.

  5. Trust God. I saved the best tip for last. Praying and asking God for help is always my go-to response for rejection. God has a plan that is so much bigger than we can understand. Eventually, everything will fall perfectly into place!

I found a quote on Pinterest that gave me a slightly new perspective: “You could be the ripest, juiciest peach in the world, but there’s still going to be someone who hates peaches.” :)

When you are dating someone, it is important for Christ to be the center of that relationship. It doesn’t matter if you are in middle school, high school, college or beyond, having a Christ-centered relationship is super important. Here are a few verses to pray to strengthen your relationship, protect it, and to give you hope for the future.


1 Corinthians 12: 4-7 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. 1-Corinthians-13-4-8


Ephesians 4:2 Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, baring with one another in love.


John 15:12 My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.


1 John 3:18 Let us not love with words or tongue, but with actions and in truth. (AKA, actions speak louder than words!)


James 1:19 My dear brothers and sisters, be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to get angry.

Sometimes it can be tough to get a healthy breakfast in. You all know how important breakfast is, it has been drilled into our brains since 7th grade health class. I find that I am always running around in the morning and barely have time to make a healthy breakfast that will keep me full and focused all throughout my morning. I have found that breakfast smoothies are my best bet when it comes to a fast and nutritional breakfast because all I have to do is throw a few ingredients in a blender, blend, and then toss it in a cup and go! Here is the recipe to my favorite breakfast smoothie, the blueberry oatmeal smoothie!


Ingredients:download


  • ½ cup rolled oats

  • 1 cup almond milk

  • 1 frozen banana

  • ¾ cup fresh or frozen blueberries

  • 1 tsp honey (this is optional)

  • And if you are using fresh un-frozen blueberries, 4-5 ice cubes

If you REALLY want to be prepared, measure out the blueberries, banana, and oatmeal the night before and place them into a plastic Ziploc baggie. Put the baggie in the freezer to keep the fruit frozen and in the morning all you have to do is toss those ingredients into the blender and then add the other few ingredients! It is super easy to make this smoothie, just add all of the ingredients together into the blender and blend until they are all chopped up! This recipe makes about 2 servings of smoothie, so give the rest to your siblings or parents! Trust me, they will love you for it. J

Teenagers and young adults alike are glued to their phones.  It’s rare to go to dinner or watch a movie without one person checking Twitter or updating their Facebook status.  While social media is fun, it can also be dangerous.  Monitoring yourself and others can save you from trouble in the future.  Take caution when using social media!Chelsea Crockett- caution on social media


Did you know that what you post on social media could keep you from getting a job or getting into college?  That’s right!  College admissions and employers now check a variety of social media accounts including Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook in order to see what their possible student or employee is posting.  If you are underage and post pictures with alcohol in them, you get could turned down.  Likewise, if you are always using profanity or making fun of someone, that can be a major red flag.  Many don’t realize that what you post on different social media accounts is very important.  It can actually determine what happens in your future!


Next time you are about to post a picture, status, tweet, etc., make sure it is something that you would be okay with your grandparents seeing!  This could save you from a world of trouble!

Trends come and go, while some rarely stay for good.  2014 was full of good, bad, and crazy trends that we all took note of!  So what were some of the wildest, most eye-catching designs this year?  Let’s take a look!


A few high-end designers decided to bring together the fashion and fast food industries.  Moschino made McDonald’s “M” couture by placing it on handbags, belts, and dresses.  This became especially popular among celebs like Rita Ora and Miley Cyrus.  Thigh high boots were the most interesting shoes seen this year.  While some hit the knee, others nearly covered the entire leg!


On the not-so-crazy side of trends, crop tops and matching crop sets were all the rage.  Everywhere you looked there were teenagers rocking high-waisted shorts and a crop top.Chelsea Crockett- high waisted shorts and crop top  Dresses were also put on the back burner due to matching skirt and crop sets.  They were everywhere this summer!  The flat shoe trend was also hot this year.  From Converse to booties, everyone was bound to own a pair or two….or five.

It’s almost 2015 which means it’s time to think about what you want to leave behind in 2014.  Time to reflect and rethink things you like and dislike about your Chelsea Crockett - New Years Quotelife.  Time to make resolutions to change your life for the better!  Perhaps you need to switch up your eating and exercising habits.  Or maybe even make new friends?  Whatever you’re thinking, it’s time to set goals and objectives for the new year!


New Year’s resolutions don’t always mean setting them solely for ourselves. As teens, we’re becoming more independent from our families and relying on friends more often.  Do we need to spend more time with our friends or family to make them feel important?  What could we change in our lives to make those people feel special?


Probably the most popular resolution we should consider making would be to eat healthy and exercise!  Whether you’re thin or overweight, it’s important to get the necessary amount of activity to maintain a healthy lifestyle.  It’s recommended for the average high school student to get 60 minutes of physical activity per day (if you can even find 60!). Simply setting a goal of 30 minutes, five days a week would be a start!


Last but not least would be to look at our effort and ability in school.  If we struggle in a certain area, how about working to change that B to an A? Studying more, staying organized, getting more sleep… Whatever your resolution is, I would love to hear about it!  Let me know below and maybe I’ll join you!
