Let’s be real, aspirin is a life safer! Whether it’s cramps, a headache, a sunburn, etc., aspirin is the first thing I turn to, it’s magic! I’ve recently heard of yet another use for this medicine that isn’t just for feeling better on the inside but on the outside, too!


I found Chelsea Crockett - Aspirin Face Maskan aspirin face mask that helps reduce reddening, eliminates acne, and exfoliates your skin. It’s inexpensive, easy, and quick (what more could a girl want when it comes to a DIY recipe?). First, you’ll need a few ingredients: 4-6 uncoated aspirin pills, warm water, and a teaspoon of honey. Not bad right? Then crush up your pills in a small bowl and add in just enough warm water to make a paste. Then, you guessed it, add your little bit of honey to make it even thicker! Apply your mixture to your skin and let it sit until it hardens (or for about 10 minutes). Wash it off with a warm towel and there you have it! It’s as simple as that!


Now you can say good-bye to acne with just a few easy steps :).

Spinach ice cream? How odd does that sound? To be honest, I was a little skeptical when I read the recipe. But, I decided to try it, and boy am I glad I did! I ate a ton of this stuff, and could do so without any guilt because it is totally healthy! Here is how to make your very own mint chocolate spinach ice cream.


  • 2 frozen bananasspinach_ice_cream

  • 2-3 drops peppermint extract

  • 1/16th tsp salt

  • 1/4 cup or more frozen

  • 2 tbsp milk of choice

  • chocolate chips

Blend all of your ingredients together and then use an ice cream scoop to serve your delicious treat! Mint chocolate chip ice cream is a total weakness of mine, so I love that I can make a much healthier version at home! Trust me, you don’t even taste the spinach!

Products are a girl’s best friend.  Whether its perfume to make us smell good, hairspray to keep our hair in check, sunscreen to protect our skin, or foundation to cover those pesky pimples, products keep us feeling and looking beautiful; but did you know that overusing products happens too often?  Most girls don’t know the proper amount of what they’re using.  I’ll break it down into an easy guide of how much to use for each of my favorite beauty essentials.Chelsea Crockett- quarter size of conditioner


  • Overdoing it on conditioner is easy, especially if your hair is really tangled; but using too much can cause your hair to be greasy! Next time, try using an amount the size of a quarter!

  • Spraying your hair too close can leave it looking stiff or clumped together. Spray your hairspray approx. 4-6 inches from your hair.

  • Never have your flat iron or curling iron above 350 degrees! No one wants burnt hair!

  • Sunscreen can be oily and clog pores. Don’t use more than the size of a nickel to cover your face.

  • Using too much liquid foundation can make you look “fake” or “cakey”. You only need about the size of a dime to cover your entire face. You’re pretty just the way you are!

  • If you use a foam styling product to make your hair curly or to give it volume, use an amount the size of an egg!

  • Never swipe your mascara more than 10 times or it’ll look clumped!

Using the proper amount of product is key to getting the most use out of your beauty essentials!

I always see posts on Twitter and Instagram about “goals.” I see “relationship goals” or “friendship goals” or I’ve even seen “lunch goals.” Well, these things are all fine and dandy, but to me, I’d rather have “life goals,” or things I want to do or accomplish in my life. Here is a list of goals that should make everyone’s list of goals.

  7. Explore as much as possible

  13. Be a good influence on others

Everyone should make a list of things that they strive for in life and things that they want to achieve or do more of. This makes the goals more attainable, and it gives you motivation to reach them! Having goals is a way to better yourself and to even be a motivation to those around you.

Spring and summer are totally wedding season, and they are knocking at our door! Believe it or not, some of us will be on Spring Break at this time next month! Crazy, right? Anyway, like I was saying, wedding season is almost here, which means you need some wedding wear rules to follow. Here they are:


  1. Never wear white to a wedding…EVER: Don’t even wear ivory or champagne, it is too close for comfort to white! Save What-to-wear-fall-wedding-2013your white dresses for other spring and summer gatherings and let the bride stand out in her dazzling white dress.

  2. Keep it classy: Showing too much skin is a major no-no. No matter how great your legs are looking, you want to keep the attention on the bride, not your toned tush. That being said, you can wear something that flatters your figure! Just don’t go overboard.

  3. Better to overdress than underdress: Flip flops= not okay! You will have plenty of opportunities to wear your favorite plastic Old Navy flip flops and comfy cutoffs this spring and summer, so keep them away from weddings! Also, jeans and tank tops are a definite “no.”

  4. Be confident: Although it is not “your day,” that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the heck out of it!

If you are planning on doing some traveling any time soon (Spring break will be here before you know it!), then you are going to want to read this article! I have listed a few of my beauty travel tips I use when I am traveling. I fly so much that these beauty tips have been a life saver!


  1. Exfoliate pre-flight: The day before you fly, make sure to exfoliate. This will get all of those yucky dead skin cells off of your skin, and will also prepare you for #2 on this list.

  2. Moisturize it up: Flights can do a number on your skin. So, after you exfoliate, moisturize to the max! Also moisturize the day of your flight.murhighlpel_2

  3. Go easy on the makeup: The trick is to keep it light! You want to be comfy when you are traveling, and wearing a lot of makeup can make getting comfortable quite difficult. Keep it light, keep it comfy!

  4. Be ready to touch up: Odds are, after a day of traveling, your eyeliner is going to smear, your eyes are going to look tired, and your foundation is probably going to be smudged off. Keep some highlighter and powder with you to brighten you up!

Have you ever had one of those weeks where you ate really badly and didn’t work out?  Times like these can take a toll on your body and leave you feeling tired and lazy.  For times like this, detox water comes in handy!  By making and drinking this water with a few simple ingredients, your body will feel back on track in no time!  Let’s check out what you need to start detoxifying your body!


  • One large pitcher

  • 3 quarts of water

  • 2 lemons

  • ½ cucumber

  • 10 mint leavesChelsea Crockett- detox water ingredients

Begin by slicing the lemons and cucumber into thin slices, while still trying to maintain all of the juice.  Fill the pitcher up with 3 quarts of water and add the lemons, cucumber, and mint leaves to the water and let it sit overnight in the fridge.  Sip on the water throughout the day and let your body take its course.  This water will rid your body of anything harmful!


It’s an easy way to a fresh start!

If you would have told me 3 years ago that I would have my own successful YouTube channel, be featured in Seventeen magazine, and get to travel the world I would think you were losing it!  By the age of 16 I was able to accomplish all of this by doing what I truly loved and had a passion for.  When you have a deep desire for something, you will work hard enough until you accomplish it.  It’s that special drive and passion that fuels people to follow their dreams.  Once you start to follow those dreams, you will realize that you have found yourself and that you are happy…really happy.  It’s important to start slow and not all at once.  If you want to be an actress, then start taking acting classes.  If you want to be a chef, then go to culinary school.  If you want to be a YouTube beauty guru, then start your own channel!  If you can dream it, then you can achieve it!

Summer time = swim time! Swimming is super good for you, and it is super fun to do! I knew swimming was great for your health, I just didn’t know HOW good! Here are 3 reasons why you should hop in the pool this summer, other than to show off your 5 star cannon ball!


 


1. Easier on your joints: Swimming is an awesome way to exercise and be easy on your joints. Workouts like running are super rough on your joints and can really damage them in the long run, so swimming is a great way to avoid that!

2. Increased muscle tone and strength: Have you ever seen a chubby dolphin or a chunky fish? I doubt it! That is because it takes a lot of energy and strength to move through water. Swimming or water activities is considered resistance training because you are pushing against the water and “resisting” it, and it is well known that resistance exercises are the best way to build muscle tone and strength


 


3. Full body workout: Unlike working out at the gym where you focus on one part of your body at a time, such as arms or legs, water exercise works all of your muscle groups at once. It also increases the movement and flexibility of your joints!

The great debate is over which exercise is best for doing just that!


The big question is which exercise is better, cardio or strength?  The answer is both!  Building strong muscles through strength training is so important because muscles burn calories.  Therefore, activating your muscle building boosts your metabolism for longer amounts of time.  Cardio, on top of strength training, burns fat and keeps your heart healthy.


Exercising can be fun and enjoyable especially if you find a friend to do it with.  Bike riding, running, aerobics, and rollerblading are all examples of cardio exercises.  While yoga, free weights, and Pilates are all good strength training activities.  Be sure to include both cardio and strength training in your weekly workouts.  You’ll be pleased with the results and not only your endurance but your mood will be boosted too!

I don’t know about you, but all I want on a hot day is a nice big glass of raspberry lemonade. I love sitting out on my patio with a glass in hand with my dogs by my side, it just hits the spot! Here is how to make the best raspberry lemonade you will ever taste!


Ingredients:6a00d8358081ff69e2017d42a75f73970c-800wi


  • 1/2 cup Sweet’N Low

  • 1 cup water

  • 1 ¼ cups fresh lemon juice

  • 2 cups raspberries, pureed

  • 3 1/2 cups cold water

  • ice cubes

In a small pan, bring the Sweet’N Low and water to a simmer. Stir so that sugar dissolves all the way and then remove from the heat and let cool to room temperature. Place the raspberries in a blender and process until smooth. Pour the raspberry puree into the sugar water and then stir. Add in the lemon juice. Combine the raspberry mixture with the cold water in a large pitcher. Stir it up really good and add in lots of ice!


I add in some extra raspberries into my glass for a little extra yum!

  1. A ton! Not feeling confident? Trick your mind into thinking you are just by smiling! It’s a quicker picker upper.

  2. Sit up straight. Believe it or not, when you have great posture you gain confidence!

  3. Kick negativity to the curb! If you are surrounded with people that make you feel bad about yourself or bring you down, that can cause you to harbor negative thoughts as well.

  4. Pray about it. When I am feeling down I pray that God will give me confidence and help me shine for Him. Works every time!

Homemade Watermelon Fruit Snacks

When you were little did you devour fruit roll ups in 2.5 seconds like I did? Those were the glory days, when you didn’t have to worry about how much sugar and terrible ingredients were in those sweet rolls of tangy goodness. Well, now I know how to make my very own fruit roll ups from actual fruit that I don’t feel bad about devouring!download (1)


Ingredients:


  • 8 cups of cubed watermelon

  • 2/3 cup granulated sugar

Directions:


Line two baking sheets with silicone baking sheets or parchment paper and preheat the oven to 170 degrees. Puree the watermelon and drain the juice as much as you can. Press the juice out with paper towels or anything that works to get the juice out. Combine the drained watermelon with the sugar and blend it together to make a smooth mixture. Divide the watermelon puree between the 2 pans and spread it in an even layer. Bake it for 3 hours, rotating the pans 180 degrees and swapping rack levels every hour. Transfer the cooked fruit rolls onto cutting boards so you can cut them like you want, and then store them in an air tight container!


These snacks are the perfect sweet on-the, chewey treat!

Morning workouts are the simplest solution to this problem! People who work out in the morning tend to work out harder and longer than those who exercise in the evening. If you are the furthest thing from a morning person, then you will need to read these tips on how to make morning workouts a must!


  1. Be prepared: Set out your workout clothes and shoes the night before so that you aren’t tiredly fumbling around in the Morning-Workout-300x300morning trying to find your running shoes when you wake up. The easier it is to wake up and immediately put on your workout clothes, the more likely you are to actually work out.

  2. Fuel right: Working out on an empty stomach isn’t ideal, so pre-make a small morning snack like fruit or cheese.

Back acne can be really embarrassing. It can make you super self-conscious when wearing dresses or shirts with an open back or even swim suits. During the winter you can hide that back acne easily, but not so much during the summer! You may feel like back acne is only for prepubescent boys who have yet to master the art of showering, but that just isn’t so! Here are a few ways you can beat back acne.13371148


  1. Keep your back as clean as your face: Or at least try to! We keep our faces nice and lathered up, but we barely splash soap on our backs in the shower! Backs are so hard to reach, and so much gunk like hair products and sweat accumulates on them. The best solution is to use a long handled loofah to scrub that back.

  2. Don’t treat your back and face the same: You can scrub to your heart’s content on your back, whereas you need to be gentle with your face. The skin on your back is tougher, so it can take some major exfoliation.

  3. The golden rule= exfoliation: Again, since your back doesn’t get the cleaning attention it deserves, a lot of gunk can accumulate on it. Don’t be afraid to use a heavy duty exfoliant! Look for products that have ingredients like salicylic acid or glycolic acid.

Just remember, when you keep your back clean and exfoliated, it will keep that sucker acne free! Also, don’t forget to moisturize!

Which way to the beach? I know I’ll be dreaming of being ocean side all summer long. Although for most of these sunny months I’ll be stuck in the Midwest, I’m hoping I will get to adventure out to the coast for a few days. I know I am not the only one who is taking a trip to the beach. So for those of you who are, here are a few beach hacks to make your trip not only fun, but affordable and fabulous!


If you are in need of a cute tote bag but don’t want to spend the money, I have the perfect solution! Every-day local stores like Target, Marshalls, TJ Max, etc. all sell extremely affordable yet fashionable totes. You can find one as cheap as 99 cents!


When going on vacation, I like to Chelsea Crockett - Cover Up Dresspack a few stylish swimsuit cover ups along with my swimwear. I love, love, love lace or floral cover ups like the one on the right. Although cover ups are only worn for the walk to and from the beach/pool, I have recently discovered another use that’s worth a share! Summer is just around the corner and it’s time to find your perfect bathing suit!  Everyone’s bodies are made differently, so it’s important to find the swimsuit that is most flattering for you.

Ending a chapter in your life and opening a new one can seem on the verge of impossible. With summer here, some of you will soon be packing up and moving out to college. Some of you may’ve just gotten out of a relationship. Some of you are moving to a new school this upcoming school year. It can be scary, I know first-hand… and I’m here to help!


One of the best tips I’ve learned is to accept the past and anticipate the future. You can’t move forward when you’re dwelling on the past. Whether it’s bad grades, innocent mistakes, etc., you have to accept that what’s done is done. Work on making yourself a better person for what’s to come!Chelsea Crockett - Moving Forward


I’ve learned the easiest way to take on a new situation is through prayer, reading the Bible, and surrounding yourself with good company. One of my favorite verses, Hebrews 11:1, says “Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.” Without faith, nothing can be accomplished. Hope that whatever happens or whatever’s coming is happening for a reason, because it is!

The shades: Light to medium neutral shades are best for blondes. For warmer blonde beauties, go for warm brown and bronze colors. For cool blondes, try cool browns and taupes.


Mascara choice: The deepest black isn’t always the best mascara choice! You want to choose a mascara that is the natural shade of your lashes and skin tone.


Brows:  Use brow gel to naturally define your beautiful brows. If your blonde brows need more shape, choose a gel that is lighter in color.


Eyes: For a more natural looking smoky eye, choose shades that are more taupe and pair them with a deep brown or grey liner.


For a natural, less-dramatic smoky eye, opt for taupe shades. Pair it with a smudgy black, grey, or deep brown liner.

As spring and summer start to meld together, I am always scrambling for ideas of things to do with my free time. Summer is filled with so many possibilities, and I want to make the most of every minute! The best way to ensure that you will have the best spring/summer ever is to make a bucket list and write every goal down. Here are a few activities that are totally going on my summer bucket list.


  1. Go to an outdoor concert: I love going to concerts, and I love the outdoors, so what could be better than an outdoor concert this summer?! You’re out in the open air enjoying great music with great friends, what could be better!

  2. Weekend road trip: Take a weekend road trip with your gal pals! Bring your mommas along for a fun, refreshing weekend away, even if it is just a few hours away!images (7)

  3. Take a nature adventure: My friends and I love to go on hikes and bike rides on our local nature trails! It is a great way to strengthen your friendships AND your body at the same time!

  4. Clean that closet: Spring cleaning is a must for your closet! This can help you figure out what pieces you still need for your summer wardrobe. Organize your clothes and accessories to help you know exactly what you have.

  5. Volunteer: Volunteering is a fantastic way to both enrich your life and the lives of those around you!

Are you new at the whole “makeup” thing? I know when I first started wearing makeup I had no clue what I was doing, and it was a little scary! That is when I started watching YouTube videos to help show me how to do my makeup, and then once I learned I started making videos of my own! Here are a few tips that helped me master the art of eye makeup:


Liner tips:


  • Use makeup on your eyelids before you apply liner to avoid smudged linereyemap

  • When you want your eyes to look bigger, use a white liner pencil on the inner rims of your eyes and the black liner on the outside.

  • Another tip on how to make your eyes look bigger is to use a softer pencil that smudges easily to make a more natural line.

  • Make sure to keep your liner as close to your lashes as possible so it blends seamlessly with them.

Mascara tips:


  • Apply mascara near the roots and the not the tips to make your eyelashes look longer.

  • Make sure your eyelashes don’t clump together because they will look yucky, and to avoid this shake the brush horizontally to separate them while applying mascara.

  • For the bottom eye lash, you can use a tissue paper to prevent spoiling your makeup.

Eye shadow tips:


  • Brush the base color (lightest color) on the eyes up to the brow bone first, then apply the lid color (the medium color) and lastly the highlighter (the darkest color).

  • Accentuate your eyes by using the same eye shadow as the color of your eye.

  • Hopefully these little tips will help you become a master at eye makeup! It is not too hard once you get the hang of it.

Hot weather can be a blessing and a curse. Beautiful days spent in the sun can be a sneaky disguise for beauty disasters such as frizzy hair or clogged pores… YUCK! I have a few hacks on how deal with the hot outdoors and get one step ahead of the Mother Nature!


  • What’s one of the first things that pops into your head when you think of summer nights? BUGS. Yuck. I learned a trick to help keep the mosquitoes away! Rub dryer sheets all over your clothes/body and keep one in your back pocket. It works just as well, if not better, than bug spray.

  • I cannot stress my love for dry shampoo enough. Use it at night before you go to sleep and you’ll literally feel the difference the next morning. It gives the shampoo time to absorb any sweat or oil left in your hair.

  • NEVER underestimate the power of deodorant!Chelsea Crockett - Waterproof Mascara Just because you put on a few swipes before your day doesn’t mean you don’t have to reapply. They have tons of different scents in the travel size for you to throw in your purse. Plus, it’s there if you forget to apply… which is a nightmare!

Now that we are in the warm weather season, one thing is clear: we have to start shaving our legs again. It is so nice to take a few days (okay weeks) off of shaving during the winter months. I am always looking for ways to cut down my shaving time/frequency, and here are the tricks that have served me well!


  1. Go against the grain: A easy trick to shave less is to shave against the grain of your hair. This ensures that you are getting the closest shave possible and saves you time by not having to go over the same spot twice!Shaving Tips For Woman(1)

  2. Exfoliate: To get a close shave every time you should exfoliate your skin often. This gets rid of the dead skin and also exposes any hairs that you may have missed.

  3. Condition: Use conditioner instead of shaving cream! Not only will it save you money, it also keeps your skin soft and healthy!

  4. Cut the carbs: The foods you eat can actually promote access hair growth! Carbs do this. Cut back on the carbs to keep you hair from growing so you can shave less often.

Now you can have silky smooth legs all summer long!

Who doesn’t love a trip to the beach?!  It’s the perfect place to unwind, get a tan, and have some fun!  Many don’t know this, but going to the beach has a handful of health and beauty benefits.  Check out how a trip to the beach can make your body happy and make you feel even more beautiful!


Taking a few days vacation from your busy schedule is extremely important. Sometimes, we try to accomplish too much and let ourselves get overly stressed.  This can lead to lack of sleep, weight gain, and mood changes.  Our brain and bodies need time to relax!  Sunlight is even proven to decrease depression!  As to our physical appearance, the beach is our best friend.  The sun is a natural source of vitamin D, which leads to healthy skin.  The salt in the ocean can also help clear up acne. (HINT: go all natural at the beach. NO makeup!)  You can even accomplish the perfect beach-wave hair!  If you haven’t gotten a pedicure in awhile or have seriously dry feet, heading to the beach can cure the problem!  Sand naturally exfoliates dead sin off your feet, leaving them smooth and soft!

Oh, the struggle of wanting to be tan… UGH!  I think many girls have this dilemma! Rumors have it that tanning beds aren’t too good for your skin and in Illinois you have to be 18 years old to tan in one.  So instead of risking it to actually go tanning, I’ve been on the huntChelsea Crockett - L for a good self-tanner. Especially being a 17 year old in my state, why not?  In the past, I’ve used L’Oreal® Paris Sublime Self-Tanning Bronzer.  It works really well without streaking or leaving an orange tint.  I also don’t notice a smell like other tanners seem to have.  Overall, it works great, but there are plenty others to experiment with as well!


Recently, I received Vita Liberata Luxury Tanning System.  It’s a two to three week tanning mousse that you put on with a mitt.  It’s supposed to be odor free, long lasting, and a perfect fade.  I’m anxious to give it a try!  Vita Liberata also has Trystal bronzing minerals that you apply just like a powdered Bronzer over your moisturizer.  It’s supposed to be the first self-tanning bronzer that leaves a natural tan and lasts up to five days (perfect for prom!).

Because I have long hair, pulling a brush through it after a shower is nothing short of a nightmare. The only way I can get all the tangles out of my hair is if I use detangler. Here is how to easily make your very own!41d56f47764e2564fc334ba5373a114b


Ingredients:


  • 2-3 tablespoons organic conditioner

  • 2 cups distilled water

  • 12 drops of essential oil

  • Spray bottle

The amount of distilled water you use depends on your spray bottle size. Whisk 1.5 to 2 cups of water with 2-3 tbsp of conditioner in a bowl. Add in some essential oils to spruce it up. I like to use rosemary oil because it promotes strong hair. Use a funnel to pour the mixture into the spray bottle, and there you have it! Your hair will be soft, tangle free, and shiny!

Cleaning your makeup brushes is very important, especially since we use them every day!  You don’t have to clean them after every use, but giving them a good scrub down once a month is ideal for healthy skin!  When it comes time for cleaning, it’s easy to whip up your own cleanser with a few ingredients that you can find in your kitchen!  Get the white vinegar and hot water ready!Chelsea Crockett- makeup brush cleanser


Start by boiling 1 cup of water and pouring the hot water into a cup or bowl.  While the water is still hot, add 2 teaspoons of white vinegar and stir immediately.  The vinegar may smell at first, but don’t worry, the smell will go away.  Dip your dirty brush into the cup or bowl and gently swirl the brush around the bottom.  Once most or all of the makeup has been removed from the brush, rinse the bristles under hot water and then cold water.  Lay the brush on a towel to air dry; do not try to dry the bristles.  Shape the brush with your fingers and they’ll be clean and ready to use in a few hours!

It doesn’t matter what kind of body type you have, EVERYONE seems to have an opinion.  “She’s too fat.”  “She’s too skinny.”  “Does she even eat?”  Comments like these and social media in particular have driven girls to hate their bodies and take extreme measures.  Too many spend hours looking in the mirror pointing out what they don’t like rather than what they do.  Sometimes you can be your own worst enemy.  Does anyone else see the problem with this?!Chelsea Crockett- love bible verse
