Recipe for the Perfect Messy Bun

Why is it that messy buns are harder to do than regular buns? The disheveled, effortless, “undone” look is way harder to achieve than people think. I wish I could look like I rolled out of bed with great messy hair, but I can never seem to get it right. Luckily I found a fool-proof way to get the perfect messy bun every time. Here is how!
- Pull your hair into a loose ponytail as high or low as you want. Don’t worry about smoothing out bumps or slicking your hair back, you want it to look imperfect.
- Separate the hair in your pony into 2 sections and tease them. Teasing is the key! It will change your bun game by giving you texture and volume.
- Take your 2 teased sections and wrap the hair in opposite directions like you are creating a topknot. Instead of pinning your hair neatly into a bun, pin bobby pins near the ends of your hair, leaving the ends splay out around the bun. This gives it the messy look! Pull the bun apart a little with your hands to mess it up even more.
The best part about messy buns is that they work better on dirty hair, so they work great on second-day hair, AKA you can sleep in longer instead of washing your hair! 🙂
