Odds are, all of us have used a straightener in our lifetimes. In fact, most of us use them on a daily basis, whether to curl or straighten our hair! Little did I know that there is a science to picking the perfect straightener for your hair. Here is everything you need to know to find the perfect flat iron for you!

Size:

Mini flat iron-  These  1/2” flat irons are perfect for bangs and fly away hairs! They are also perfect for travel because they are so small.

1” flat iron: These straighteners are perfect for short, fine hair.

1 ½” flat iron: These are great for hair that is not thin but not thick, it is right in the middle! They are also great for thick, coarse, and curly long hair.

2” flat iron: This straightener is great for long, thick hair.

Type:

Ceramic: This is the type that I have! Ceramic plates are less likely to burn your hair and allow for an even distribution of heat.

Titanium: Titanium plate heat up the fastest, but be careful because if you clamp the plates on your hair for too long you can burn your hair!

Tourmaline: Tourmaline is a mineral that is crushed up and then used to coat the plates of your flat iron. It helps make your hair shinier, straighter, and less frizzy than other straighteners!
