Keep Your Skin From Cracking This Season

I hope you are all having a lovely fall as we start transitioning into the cold and windy days. Ice cold temperatures and fierce winds can really take a toll on your skin, especially if your skin is extremely delicate. Cracking and red patches are very common in the winter months and can leave your makeup looking drab. The results of this weather change can also leave you looking more tired, for moisturized skin creates the illusion of being energized. Follow a few of these simple steps to keep your skin looking radiant despite the harsh winter weather.
Try a moisturizer without an alcohol base. Many drugstore moisturizers have alcohol as an ingredient. Although lotions are supposed to moisturize, alcohol actually creates the opposite effect. Try using an all-natural moisturizer made with natural oils such as coconut oil, jojoba oil, and hemp seed oil. These natural oils can create a thick exterior, shielding your skin from the harshest of winds. Another way to keep your skin feeling its very best is to wear minimal makeup. You must always allow your skin to breathe! Over applying makeup to those stubborn red patches from the wind can only make it worse…plus, it doesn’t look very good! Try only wearing cover up foundation and leaving dry patches makeup free. It’s important that the pores soak up any moisture try can and allow oxygen in. The last way to have moisturized skin is the simplest. Drink LOTS of water. Your skin is made up of about 10-20% of water. When you are dehydrated, so is your skin. Keep your skin happy and crack free by drinking a fair amount of water each day.
Don’t worry if your skin becomes difficult for the next couple of months. It’s normal! Make sure to be kind to your skin and give it the proper treatment it deserves. Moisturized skin makes for a happy face!
