I’m sure you all are on social media, am I right? If not, at least you have probably heard of it! I’m talking about Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, all that jazz. Today I am going to tell you how important it is for you to watch what you say and post on social media, because when you post something, it is out there forever.

I know how tempting it might be to comment on someone’s picture or status and tell them how you really feel, but hold your tongue. Watch what you say, because other people are watching how you react and respond such as future employers. Yes, I said it, your future boss can look you up on social media and see just who you really are! That is an important point. Do not post anything on the internet that you wouldn’t want your boss/parents to see, because it will find their way to them.  According to CareerBuilder.com, 25% of employers check your social media sites when deciding whether or not to hire you.

Also, never put much personal information on social media sites. By posting where you are at all times and putting personal information in your “bio” on the sites, you could put yourself in danger. Another risk of social media is cyber bullying.  Odds are, you have been cyber bullied or you have been the one bullying. Cyber bullying can be something as simple as commenting on someone’s status or picture with a rude remark. Words hurt, girls. Next time you are tempted to comment on something or post something mean, think about the verse Luke 6:31, which says “Do unto others as you would have them do to you.” I know it might be hard to hold your tongue, but be the bigger person!
