Hats are essential for summer!  They can make any outfit complete and are perfect for bad hair days.  Fedoras, sun hats, and floppy hats are a few of my favorites for a summer look.  It’s important to know which kind of hat goes with what outfit.  Time to create the perfect summer ensemble!

Floppy hats and sun hats are timeless.  Not only do they look classy, but they are a great way to cool off and shield your face from the sun.  They look the best with dresses, skirts, or dress shorts and a nice top.  Since floppy hats usually cover most of your face, keep your makeup to a minimum.  When wearing a floppy hat, it’s more about the clothes and hat than the makeup.  Go for a hat that is a neutral color like black or tan.  This way it’ll go with anything.  If you want to dress up your hat, tie a scarf around the hat and into a bow to match any look you want.  It’s a great way to price up a plain hat!

Fedoras are much more casual.  They can be worn with almost any outfit, preferably nautical looks.  Steer clear of ripped shorts or grungy looks, since fedoras are classic.  My favorite way to wear a fedora is with a pair of high-waisted striped shorts and a nice tank or shirt tucked in.  Add a pair of strappy sandals and you’ve got yourself the perfect summer outfit!

Next time you’re at the store, try grabbing a hat!  You never know what looks you could create with it!
