If you’re ever caught in a sticky situation, saying no is one of the hardest things to do. Whether it’s smoking, drinking, or any other temptation, peer pressure is most likely involved. One of the biggest problems high school has always faced and still faces today is smoking. Although you might get caught in a tough circumstance, there is always a way to get out! Here are some useful tips:

• Don’t hang out with the wrong crowd! I know, it’s easier said than done… but surrounding yourself with people who have the same morals as you is a lot more enjoyable! It’s extremely easy to fall into temptations when you’re surrounded by anything and everything you’re trying to avoid.


• Think of the risks. Smoking brings so many risks and consequences to the table. Both with health and beauty! Did you know smoking actually increases your chance of cancer by 13 times?  It also reduces your life 11 minutes every time you smoke one cigarette!  It’s too big of a risk especially at such a young age!


• Encourage others to quit! If you grow up in a family with a history of smokers, getting them to quit is a good way to push the temptation away for good. It’s hard not to try it when you’re surrounded by it 24/7. It not only pays off for you, but for your parents/siblings, too!
