Ladies ladies ladies…No shave November may be underway, so razor bumps aren’t a huge issue at the moment. Although they are not top priority at the moment, it is always good to know how to avoid those obnoxious, annoying bumps for good. Here are some tips on how to prevent razor bumps!
-Don’t shave every day
Don’t shave so often. Let your hair grow out a bit before shaving it again. Give your bumps time to heal and use the razor every other day at the most.
-Shave under the warm shower and rinse off with cold water
Warm water will soften your hairs and make your skin less prone to irritation. When you are done shaving, cold water will close up the pores, which prevents infection and irritation.
-Use a shaving cream
Shaving cream will moisturize your skin as well as soften your hairs, making them easier to shave. Bumps appear more easily when your skin is dry and prone to irritation. Also, moisturize after you shave because it will reduce redness and irritation and decrease the probability of you getting razor bumps.
-Always use new and sharp razors
Dull razors will irritate the skin around the hair follicle and cause ingrown hairs. Old and rusty blades can also carry tons of bacteria, which can be transferred to the skin during shaving. This will not help your existing razor bumps to heal! If you don’t have a new blade, always use alcohol to clean your razor.
