How to Determine Your Hair Type

You have had your hair for your whole life. You probably think you know all there is to know about it, which you totally might! But, for most of us, all we know is if it is thick or thin, or if it is so curly you look like you have an afro, or so straight all you can do with it is put it in a pony tail. But, there is so much more to know! Knowing your hair"s texture, curl pattern, and things of that nature can be the difference between a good hair day and a GREAT hair day.
1. Thickness:One way to determine the thickness of your hair is to stand in front of your mirror, grab a handfull of hair, and look at the space around the section you grabbed. If you can see your scalp, you have thin hair. If yo
u can"t, you have thick! Knowing the thickness of your hair can help you determine what kinds of products you should use in it.

Curl pattern and texture: Knowing the texture and curl pattern of your hair also determines what products you use. As you get older your hair texture changes. As for your curl pattern, if you have defined curls you want to use a prodict that gives you more definition, and if you have loose waves you want to use a lightweight serum that reduces frizz without weighing it down.
3. Grease level: I know a few girls that can go days without washing their hair because they have a balanced scalp, and I also know girls who, after a day of washing, have a dry flaky scalp. Figure out what you are, and then use a shampoo and conditioner that complements you!
