Have you ever found yourself in a room full of couples? Are all of your best friends getting into relationships? This tends to be a trend in high school and college, but don’t fret! It is possible to enjoy third wheeling and it can even be fun! Embrace the situation you’re in and become the best third wheel you can be!

A third wheel means hanging out with your BFF and their boyfriend or girlfriend. While most may seem uncomfortable, you’ve got to look on the bright side! Since your BFF now has a partner, you’ve just gained another friend yourself. It’s like the song says, “Two is better than one!” It’s also a good idea to take note of your friend’s relationship. You can learn the DO’s and DON’Ts of a relationship just by hanging out with them! This way, when it’s your turn to get in a relationship, you’ll know what and what not to do! This can save you from a lot of arguments!

There are a few scenarios to take note of before you third wheel. Avoid romantic dinner dates! If you’re going to tag along on a dinner, go somewhere casual and fun; the more people, the better. It’s also important to know when to dip out. If you feel like your friends want some alone time or you’ve been with them too much, just casually leave! Don’t make it awkward, just come up with something. There’s always a time and a place for this situation.

All in all, being a third wheel isn’t that bad!! Embrace your situation. When the right time comes, you’ll be the one in a relationship.

Whether you’re in elementary school, middle school, high school, or even college, finding true friends can be tough.  Of course you’re constantly surrounded by “friends” at school, but picking out the best of the batch can be tricky sometimes.  It’s easy to overlook certain traits and assume one is a good friend, but overtime a true friend will start to stand out.

Look at your group of friends.  Can you relate to everyone in the group?  Does anyone judge you?  Can you be open with them?  Do they share the same beliefs as you?  It’s important to focus on these topics when associating yourself with people.  If your friend doesn’t build you up, stand up for you, understand you and your beliefs, and make you laugh, then they are not a true friend.  The people you hang out with reflect onto you.  Make sure you hang out with people that you are proud to be seen with.  Once you weed out the negative friends in your life, you will be left with only true friends; and those are the best to be around!!

2. Make a best friend bucket list: come up with things that you are dying to do with each other. It can be anything from vacationing in Hawaii to skydiving! Be creative!


3. Cook each other dinner: take turns cooking each other your favorite meal. Why YOUR favorite meal? So they can learn more about what YOU love, even if it is just your favorite dish!

 It’s time to beat down the rumors once and for all; you CAN have a guy best friend without liking them or starting a relationship with them.  I promise it’s possible and it’s a wonderful thing!  There really is something to be said about a girl who has a lot of guy friends.  Now don’t get me wrong, I love my girlfriends, but having close guy friends is completely different.  Actually, having a guy best friend, or a few, is one of the greatest friendships there is!

            Hanging out with a group of guys involves zero drama.  Boys fight and move on.  They usually don’t hold grudges and are just looking for a good time with their buddies.  They also don’t care about all the gossip circulating in your school.  If you’re looking for someone to talk to about your guy problems, they’re the perfect source!  They know how guys think and can tell you exactly what you should do.  It’s also easy to bring out your tom-boy side around them, whether it’s playing video games or a game of one on one basketball.  They’ll always be up for the challenge!  Unlike girls, guys don’t care about what people think about them and they won’t care what others think about you.  It’s easy to show up to their place in sweats and no makeup.  There is never any judging involved when you hang around guys.

Having a good balance between your girl and guy friends is key.  Both groups are completely different and each has their own amazing benefits.  Don’t be afraid to develop a friendship with a guy.  It may turn out to be one of your closet friendships yet!
