http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/Chelsea-Crockett-TV-Show.jpg

I have never been more excited to share something with my insiders than what I’ve been keeping a secret for way too long! I can officially tell you about my family’s own, new TV SHOW! We have had an amazing opportunity to film a few episodes with HLN, a partner channel of CNN. I thought I’d give you a brief explanation of what to expect!Chelsea Crockett - HLN

My new show gives my viewers a little insight on the life of my family off camera. Most of my subscribers only get a small idea of what my life is like behind the scenes so I couldn’t be more thrilled to let you in on more of my life. I am extremely blessed for the chance to do so and am so happy to finally tell you all one of the biggest secrets I’ve ever had to keep! The show mainly features my dad, mom, sister, brother, and, of course, me! You’ll even see a few of my friends throughout the episodes as well. I’ve never done anything TV related, so it’s definitely an adventure in itself. I can’t wait for you all to see it and to get your thoughts on the show! Now that the secret’s out, check out my show Beautylicious Offline on HLN Tuesday night, March 24th, at 10 PM ET!

Much love! – Chels

10 Beauty Mistakes You Didn"t Know You Were Making

10 Beauty Mistakes You Didn"t Know You Were Making
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/Chelsea-Crockett-Beauty-Mistakes.jpg

Do you ever crawl into bed after a long day and accidentally fall asleep with your makeup on? Or maybe you always “forget” to wash your makeup brushes. Sound familiar? These are only a couple of the many beauty crimes you might be committing! I’m here to let you know what beauty mistakes you should put an end to ASAP!

  1. Sleeping in your makeup. Foundation residue and layers of eye shadow are doing more than you think when you sleep. They clog your pores and encourage breakouts!

  2. Wearing waterproof mascara every day. Doing this results in dried-out lashes. Also, when scrubbing it off at the end of the day, you’re likely to lose more lashes.

  3. Ignoring a topcoat. If you want your polish to last, don’t neglect this.

  4. Applying nail polish over your cuticles. Your polish won’t stay on for long. Avoid this!

  5. Forgetting to wash your makeup brushes. Keep them clean to keep away any bacteria you might be adding to your skin. Yuck!

  6. Applying makeup in the wrong lighting. You don’t want to look orange or like a ghost!Chelsea Crockett - Matching Foundation

  7. Reapplying makeup continuously throughout your day. Caking on makeup is never a good idea. Although it may seem like there’s none left, wash your face before adding another layer!

  8. Matching your foundation shade to the back of your hand. This often tricks you by thinking you found the perfect shade.

  9. Washing your hair every day. Having hydrated locks is good, so don’t dry them out by doing this.

  10. Forgetting to apply facial sunscreen. Sunburns to your face are often the most damaging to your pores. Avoid it before it happens!

And the list goes on and on! Put a stop to your beauty crimes before they do even more damage!

Daring Trends You Shouldn"t Be Afraid to Pull Off!

Daring Trends You Shouldn"t Be Afraid to Pull Off!
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/Chelsea-Crockett-Daring-Trends.jpg

Think of all the daring, bold trends there are out in the world. There’s hundreds! Some are a little too crazy but others are just the right amount of unique that you can totally pull them off. There are some popular trends that I’m doubtful about trying, but there’s no reason to be! Here’s some encouragement to try some of these outside-the-box trends.

  • Most of the time, black nail polish is referred to as “dark” or even “high fashion.” It’s made a total come back in 2015! Everyone has started to wear it, and you can too! It makes a statement and gives off a chic look.Chelsea Crockett - Overalls

  • Winged eyeliner can either look gorgeous or be completely messed up in the process. As long as you do just the right amount, you can 100% pull it off! I was a little iffy about trying it at first, but now I can’t wear it enough!

  • This trend is pretty debatable, but overalls have made a surprising come back! My favorite type is a pair like the ones on the right! Throw it on with a cute pair of sneakers to get the retro look.

  • Big hats are more of spring/summer trend, but you’re in luck! In most parts of the US, spring weather has come a little bit early! Some girls think big hats aren’t for them or are too different to wear. You can totally pull them off! They’re super stylish and are extra cute with a sundress. If you go to the beach or pool, throw one on with your cover-up! Too fab :).

What are some other trends you dare to try? Share with me below!

It IS Okay To Say “No”

It IS Okay To Say “No”
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/Chelsea-Crockett-It-IS-Okay-To-Say-“No”.jpg

Too many of us get caught up in saying “yes”.  “Yes” to doing extra tasks, “yes” to peer pressure, and “yes” to doing things we don’t want to do.  It’s hard to let people down or feel like the odd one out, especially when everyone around you is participating.  Remember, it IS okay to say “no” and it can lead to an easier world!Chelsea Crockett- yes and no

When you’re the head of a club or just someone who likes to plan things, it’s easy to take on every task presented to you.  Being a “people pleaser” is both a blessing and a curse.  It’s such a wonderful attribute to want people to like and appreciate you, but it can also lead to unnecessary stress.  It’s never a good idea to take on too many tasks.  Either it leads to a mediocre job or an epic mental breakdown (every girl knows what these are like).

Stay true to yourself and do what’s best for you!  It IS okay to say “no” and believe it or not, people will understand!  It’s time to do yourself a favor!

XOXO,

Chelsea

Pampering Yourself and Why It’s Important

Pampering Yourself and Why It’s Important
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/Chelsea-Crockett-Pampering-Yourself-and-Why-It’s-Important.png

School, work, friends, family, peer pressure, etc.  Teenagers go through a lot!  It’s easy to get worn down between homework, sports, and a job.  It can also be easy to feel self-conscious or low about yourself thanks to our society basing everything off movies, TV, and magazines.  Every once in a while, we need to splurge and pamper ourselves!Chelsea Crockett- pedicure

Pampering yourself is a way to unwind and do something special.  It doesn’t have to happen often, but taking a few hours to get a pedicure or manicure, go to the salon, buy that swimsuit you’ve had your eye on, or lay out by the pool is necessary!  Too many people get caught up in everyday life and don’t take time to do something nice for themselves.  This is when the stress sets in.  Instead of comparing ourselves to the people we see on the front cover of magazines, do whatever it takes to make yourself FEEL beautiful!

You deserve a day of pampering, because you ARE beautiful inside and outfit!

Eco-Friendly Beauty Products

Eco-Friendly Beauty Products
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/Chelsea-Crockett-Eco-Friendly-Beauty-Products.jpg

Where I live, spring weather has already made its way into effect… and I’m not complaining! With the flowers budding and the grass turning greener, it gives me a little motivation to go green. There are hundreds of eco-friendly beauty products that seem to be under the radar. You’d be surprised at how many awesome organic products there are out there that not only benefit your skin, but the earth as well!

Chelsea Crockett - The Body ShopAvalon Organics® is the place to look if you’re shopping for good quality, all-natural products. They have a large variety of products from cleansers and moisturizers to lip balms and toners. They even carry organic shampoos and conditioners (plus some are gluten-free!). Their prices are reasonable and affordable too!

The Body Shop® makes their products from natural, raw ingredients from throughout the world! Their products are also never tested on animals and 100% vegetarian. A company that keeps customers, animals, and the planet their main priority is a company worth shopping from. They have tons and tons of products such as exfoliating body scrubs and mineral infused makeup. That just sounds healthy :)!

Lastly, we’ve all heard of bareMinerals®. Their products are filled with pure ingredients infused with skin-loving minerals. Some of my favorite products are their natural foundations, brighteners, and concealers. With summer coming up, it’s a necessity to check out their sun care and protection products as well. They even have foundation with SPF in it!

Be fresh, and give organic products a shot! There’s no harm in trying right?

Sporty Looks for Your Favorite Spring Games

Sporty Looks for Your Favorite Spring Games
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/Chelsea-Crockett-Sporty-Looks.jpg

Since hockey season is nearing to an end and baseball is just about to begin, you’ll need some tips on how to look sporty yet stylish for each and every game! Sporting events are some of my favorite things to attend with my friends or family, and to look cute while doing so! There are so many different ensembles of outfits to create, here are a few of my faves :)!Chelsea Crockett - Sports Outfit

Your simplest and easiest way to go is a casual outfit. Just throw on a pair of leggings and your favorite team’s oversized jersey or t-shirt. As for adding a little more to your outfit, throw in a cute headband or bandana that matches your team’s colors. Accessorize with some fun colored beads or socks!

For a less casual look, the outfit on the right is so so cute! Whatever your team’s colors might be, find a matching flannel that goes with them. Wear your jersey and tie your flannel around your waist! In my opinion, the ripped boyfriend jeans complete the look. So… find yourself a pair to rock with some retro converse. I think even the sunglasses are a stylish touch!

If you’re going for a dressy look, it probably isn’t too easy to come up with something formal for a sporting event… but hopefully I can help with that! If you have a skater skirt, tuck in your shirt or jersey and rock it with a pair of booties. If you have time to shop around before game day, look for a jersey dress. They’re so cute but sometime tough to find!

What’s your go-to sports outfit? Lemme know insiders!

XO – Chels

Shoes Around the World

Shoes Around the World
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/Chelsea-Crockett-Shoes-Around-the-World.jpg

If you’re like me, then you’re an avid shoe lover!  Besides diamonds, shoes are a girl’s best friend.  It doesn’t matter where you’re from or where you’re visiting, you can always spark up conversation about shoes with any girl!  Although we all share this same connection, the most popular type of shoe differs between countries.  Fashion, although a sort of universal language, can be very, very different. Chelsea Crockett- clogs

Ever owned a pair of clogs, Uggs, Hunters, or cowboy boots?  These are serious staples for different countries.  Clogs from Sweden, Uggs from Australia, Hunter rain boots from England, and cowboy boots from Texas have made their way around the world!  From the runway to the street, they’ve become some of the hottest trends.  College and high school campuses are flooded with Hunter Wellies on a rainy day, country concerts are full of girls rocking their favorite pair of cowboy boots, and thanks to the reinvention of the clog, throwing on a pair of clog wedges is all the rage in the summer.  Another fun international shoe is the moccasin from Canada!  Love throwing on a pair of these with a boho top of an easy and cute outfit look!

Crazy to think that some of your everyday shoes originated thousands of miles away!  The world has some amazing ideas!

XOXO,

Chelsea

Why Yoga?

Why Yoga?
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/Chelsea-Crockett-why-yoga.jpg

Working out has become a big deal.  Everyone is trying to eat the healthiest, become the fittest, and discover the best type of workout plan.  While running and lifting weights are great, yoga seems to top them all!  It’s a great way to burn calories, build muscle, and relax the mind.  Find out why yoga is the most relaxing workout you’ll ever have!Chelsea Crockett- yoga

Yoga uses specific techniques to focus on your breathing which calms the mind.  It’s a way to release tension from all muscle groups, including your brain.  This, in turn, can actually boost confidence!  Another great benefit from yoga is that it’s a long-term workout.  Unlike running and lifting which can eventually wear down your joints, yoga has a low injury rate and can be practiced for years and years.  It also increases flexibility!

Like other forms of workout, it can help you lose weight and improve muscle tone and strength.  Yoga targets hard to reach muscles…some you may not even know existed!  Give yoga a try, especially if you’re looking for a new way to spice up your workout routine.  Your body and mind will be happy!

XOXO,

Chelsea

5 Handy Curling Iron Tricks

5 Handy Curling Iron Tricks
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/Chelsea-Crockett-5-Handy-Curling-Iron-Tricks.jpg

Curling irons can be tricky contraptions and take a lot of training to be able to control. In order to fully become the master of your curling iron there are a few tricks you need to have up your sleeve at all times.d41072388d19f752a1971136ff07bfe2

  1. Know your barrel preference: AKA know what size barrel works best for you. If your hair curls better with a smaller barreled iron, stick with it. If your hair works better with the bigger barrel because you prefer looser, wavier curls, then work it.

  2. Short hair: If you have short hair, use a small-barreled iron pointed downward. Also, make your curls tighter on the underside of your hair because this will help your ‘do to have more volume.

  3. Quick curls: Pull your hair into a high pony and curl your hair while it is up for quick easy waves. Once you are done curling and have let your hair cool, take the ponytail down and lightly spray it with hair spray.

  4. Clamp it up: Face the clamp of the iron forward to spin the hair through it more easily, and clamp around the middle of your hair. Clamping hair from the bottom of the strand makes it harder and more awkward to curl it around the iron.

  5. Root to tip: The closer to the root you start the curl, the longer the curl will last.

  6. Wand tricks: When you are using a wand, turn it upside down. This allows you to start curling your roots on the larger end of the wand. Also, hold the wand behind your head to avoid burning your face off.

Next time you are curling your ‘fro, keep these tips in mind!

The Cinderella Project

The Cinderella Project
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/Chelsea-Crockett-The-Cinderella-Project.png

I’ve recently learned about a special project that is held locally where I live and after doing some research, I’ve found that it exists in other areas too!  It’s called the Cinderella Project. This is a program that collects dresses for under privileged girls for proms and special occasions.  Junior and senior girls are referred to the Cinderella Project by their high school counselors.  I thought I’d share with you a great organization that you can be a part of!

About five years ago, the Cinderella Project joined Seventeen Magazine through Donatemydress.org.  The website encourages girls to donate their prom dresses and special occasion dresses to girls that could really use them.  Local businesses and volunteers help to make this project a huge success. Chelsea Crockett - Cinderella Project Prom Dresses

The store is open to the special prom-goers to receive their gifted dress.  After they’ve made their selections, the store is open to the public and any girl can purchase a dress from $29-$39.  Our local boutique has had more than 1500 dresses in all sizes, shapes, and colors for girls to choose from.

Of course, a dress is awesome but the Cinderella Project doesn’t stop there.  The organization also gives custom alterations, hairdos, and borrowed jewelry for the evening! Every girl is sure to feel pampered and special for their big night out.  Be sure to google the Cinderella Project to see if you have one in your area.  If you do, let’s make a difference and donate some dresses!

Strawberry Oat Squares

Strawberry Oat Squares
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/chelsea-crockett-Strawberry-Oat-Squares.jpg

I am always looking for new healthy snacks. Sometimes, snacking on fruit isn’t super filling and I need something with a little more “oomf” to give me healthy energy. I found a super delicious recipe for “Healthy Strawberry Oat Squares” on the blog “Sally’s Baking Addiction” and I cannot wait to make my very own homemade granola bars! If you want to make them with me, here is how…

Ingredients:

  • 2 Tablespoons cornstarch
    71b12d72e08fac8925ced69eb767ec4e

  • 2 Tablespoons warm water

  • 2 cups finely diced strawberries

  • 1/4 cup maple syrup

  • 1 Tablespoon granulated sugar

  • 2 and 1/4 cup quick oats

  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • 1 cup almond butter

  • 1/4 cup maple syrup

  • 1/4 cup apple butter

  • 1 large egg, beaten

  • 1/2 cup sliced almonds

  1. First you make the strawberry filling. Do this by mixing the cornstarch with the warm water until all of the cornstarch has dissolved and there are no clumps. Set the mixture aside. Then combine the strawberries, maple syrup, and sugar together in a small pan over medium heat. Bring the mix to a boil and stir well. Remove it from the heat and then stir in the cornstarch. Whisk until the clumps are gone and set it aside to cool and thicken.

  2. Preheat your oven to 325 degrees. Line an 8×8 baking sheet with aluminum foil and set it aside. Next we make the oat crust/topping. In a large bowl combine the quick oats, cinnamon, maple syrup, butter, apple butter, almond butter, and beaten egg. Mix this together until the oats are moistened and everything is well combined. Set ½ cup of the mixture aside. Press the rest of the mixture into the baking sheet. Firmly press it down and make sure it is even. Spread the strawberry filling on top of it and then crumple the remaining oat mixture on top, using a spatula to firmly press the topping into the filling.

  3. Bake for 25-30 minutes. The topping will be lightly browned. Allow to cool completely before cutting into squares.

This mixture makes about 9-12 squares, so you should be all set with snacks for a while!

Enjoy!

XOXO, Chels

How to: Rock a Statement Color!

How to: Rock a Statement Color!
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/Chelsea-Crockett-Rock-a-Statement-Color.jpg

Color is something you can have fun with. Whether you like pinks and reds or blues and greens, you can add a little pop to your outfit by simply rocking a statement color! Sometimes this can be a bright lipstick or a not-so-ordinary hair color. Either way, finding what looks best and how to pull it off can be tough! Here’s a little guide I like to follow :).Chelsea Crockett - All Black Outfit

  • Sometimes I wake up in the edgy mood to rock combat boots and a flannel button up. Other times I want to dress a little preppy and girly! All shades of pink give off a flirty vibe and go well with almost any skin tone or hair color. One of my favorite looks is a rose pink dress accented with white or silver accessories. If you’re more of a hot pink kind of girl, try throwing on a pair of bright heels or a daring lipstick!

  • On the total opposite end, all black everything can be a statement in itself. You might be thinking it’s too dark for your personality or that you won’t be able to pull it off… Think again! An outfit like the one on the right is simple and chic. Give it a try!

  • Red is a color almost every girl wants to be able to pull off. To do so, you can’t be afraid to totally rock it! Red lipstick, a red dress, or even red, auburn highlights has only one secret to pulling them off. Be confident! I promise, you’ll turn heads!

What color would be your “signature color?” I prefer fun, bright colors to match my personality! Let me know below and tell me how you choose to rock it!

The Grammy"s Guide to Prom

The Grammy"s Guide to Prom
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/Chelsea-Crockett-Grammys.jpg

The Grammys is one of the biggest nights for awards, celebrities, and fashion! The dresses seen on the red carpet are drop dead gorgeous and can give all the viewers some insight on what’s hot in Hollywood! Here’s a little bit of what I picked up from this year’s show!Chelsea Crockett - Taylor Swift Grammys

  • All black everything! So many of the stars showed up rocking the solid, black look. Beyoncé, Miranda Lambert, and Jessie J were only a few of the several celebs looking simple, yet chic and classy dressed in black from head-to-toe. Who wouldn’t take fashion advice from Queen B?

  • If you’re blonde, following in Taylor Swift’s footsteps is not a bad idea! Her turquoise colored dress looked absolutely amazing with her skin tone and hair color. It’s not too hard of a color to pull off, and it’ll complement your fair skin and light hair!

  • Although Rihanna’s dress was a little outside of the box, I LOVED its salmon pink color! This color would honestly look great on anyone. Whether you have a darker skin tone and brown hair or light skin and blonde hair, this color is girly, cute, and will be sure to stick out at prom.

  • Most stars avoided the bling and shimmer this year and kept it pretty simple. Several of the celebrities on the red carpet wore solid colored dresses, some with small cutouts or lace patterns. Simple dresses are classy and can be fun to accessorize :).

Let me know whose look was your favorite in the comments below!

DIY Raspberry Blush

DIY Raspberry Blush
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/Chelsea-crockett-diy-raspberry-blush-.jpg

Did you know you can make your own blush from raspberries?! How great is that! Nature’s own blush. When you make your own blush you can be confident that there are no nasty chemicals in it and you will know for sure that your blush is all natural. Here is how to make your very own raspberry blush!

You will need:

  • 4 teaspoons raspberry powder (made from freeze dried raspberries)Blush_Main

  • 1-2 tsp arrowroot starch

  1. Place the freeze dried raspberries into a coffee grinder and process until you have a fine powder. Make sure that all of the seeds are ground up!

  2. In a small bowl, mix the raspberry powder with arrowroot starch. Start off by adding one teaspoon of arrowroot starch and test the shade using a blush brush. If the color of the blush is too bright or intense add more arrowroot starch until you have the desired color.

  3. Honestly, you only need one piece of equipment to make this blush and that is a coffee grinder! If you do not have one, use your food processor.

This blush is so good, you could eat it! ;)

Ways to Enhance Your Inward Beauty

Ways to Enhance Your Inward Beauty
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/Chelsea-Crockett-Inward-Beauty.jpg

Recently, I’ve been thinking about inward beauty as much as outward beauty.  Of course, it’s always fun to talk about eye shadow, lipstick colors, fashion trends, nails, etc.  Many times, we’re up for trying the latest styles for our physical attraction but what about working to better ourselves on the inside? Chelsea Crockett - Fruit of the SpiritBesides, that’s what is most important in the long run!

Here are some tips I try to live by daily.  Kindness, generosity, and compassion are three important attributes to possess.  It’s always good to spend a little part of each day by trying to help someone else.  Look at others with a kind and compassionate heart and ask yourself… How could I generously help them today?  How could I encourage them today?  Sometimes it only takes a few minutes of your time to make someone feel extra special.  Trust me, you will get more from it then you think!

Grace, mercy, and forgiveness are other attributes you should freely give to others. Sometimes it’s hard to be forgiving and to show mercy and grace.  The best way to do that is to change your focus and have an attitude of gratitude.  Once you change your outlook on things, this gets a lot easier to do. If you hear drama at school or maybe even have a rumor started about you, remember it’s only temporary. Most negative things that happen in high school won’t even matter in a year. So continue being nice and forgiving under any circumstance.

I hope these thoughts will benefit your inward beauty!

Love, Chels

How To Fake Longer Hair

How To Fake Longer Hair
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/FullSizeRender-2.jpg

Every girl dreams of Jasmine-like locks. Although we can’t all have that long, thick, glossy mane Aladdin’s pretty princess has, we can fake it until we do! If you have short hair and cannot wait until your hair grows out, here are a few tips on how to make your hair look longer than it actually is…without using extensions!

  1. Say yes to scarves: Most of the time, just adding a simple scarf around your neck can make your hair appear longer. Plus, as an added bonus, the scarf is just plain cute!FullSizeRender (2)

  2. Simply straighten: This is especially true if you have curly hair. By straightening your hair you can diminish frizz and increase length!

  3. Long live the layers: When you go to get a haircut, add some layers throughout your hair. This accentuates the longer pieces of hair and makes them stand out.

  4. Half-it: By sectioning off your hair and pulling the top half back you can make your hair to appear to have more length. Plus it’s an all-around cute hairstyle!

Have no fear, short-haired heroines! You, too, can have long hair.

3 St. Patrick"s Day Snacks & Treats!

3 St. Patrick"s Day Snacks & Treats!
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/Chelsea-Crockett-St-Patricks-Day-Tricks.jpg

St. Patrick’s Day is just an excuse for lots of fun and good food! Whether you’re having a St. Patty’s class celebration or a party with your friends, you’ll need some themed, green treats to snack on. I’ve seen hundreds of ideas on Pinterest, but here are three that are not only delicious but simple as well!

  • Lucky Charm® Rice Krispie® Treats. These are so easy and fun to make! All you need is a recipe for homemade Rice Krispie® Treats. Then you can go one of two ways: either dye the butter green before mixing your ingredients or use green colored marshmallow (either way works!). After following your recipe but before separating them into squares, add in Lucky Charm® marshmallows! That’s all there is to it!Chelsea Crockett - Lime Sherbet Floats

  • Lime Sherbet Floats.  Since you’re going to have so many yummy treats, you’ll need something to quench your thirst. Lime sherbet floats will do the trick! All you need are a few cartons (or however many you need to serve your friends!) of lime, green ice cream. For the soda, pick whatever you like best! I prefer either 7-Up® or Sprite®. For tastiest results, use a lemon-lime flavored soda!

  • Rainbow Fruit Kabobs. Since I’m all for healthy treats, fruit kabobs are not only perfect for taste but decoration too! You’ll need these ingredients: purple grapes, blueberries, kiwis, pineapples, cantaloupe, and raspberries (or strawberries)! Stack them on wooden skewers in that exact order, like a rainbow (which is another St. Patrick’s Day theme!).

Let me know how your treats turn out :)!

Long Flight Travel Tips

Long Flight Travel Tips
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/Chelsea-Crockett-Long-Flight-Travel-Tips.jpg

I recently had a friend travel to Europe so we started brainstorming ways to help her enjoy the long flight! Here are some ideas that we came up with:

1.  Bring Comfort in Your Carry-on!  It’s always good to pack a neck pillow, an eye mask, earplugs, and/or headphones. These items will allow you to catch some necessary ZZZ’s before landing at your destination. Chelsea Crockett- long flight essentials

2.  Bring Novels and/or Magazines!  Long flights or car rides are always a good time to chill and take time to read.  Whether you like to dive into a long novel or catch up on the latest Seventeen Magazine, reading can make the time fly!

3.  Bring your IPad, IPhone, and/or IPod!  Before your trip, be sure to download your favorite music, movies, books, and games.  Many hours can be spent entertaining yourself with these gadgets!  If you are flying with family or friends, why not challenge them to a friendly competition with one of your games.  A little competition is always good!

4.  Bring Snacks!  Airplane food is filled with sodium and preservatives…..not my favorite and certainly not healthy.  Pack some nuts, fruit, protein bars, etc. to keep yourself satisfied and not agitated because of lack of food.

I hope these tips will help you the next time you find yourself on a long journey to your favorite destination!

Bon voyage!

Coffee Lovers Central!

Coffee Lovers Central!
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/Chelsea-Crockett-Coffee-Lovers.jpg

I know plenty of coffee-lovers that look forward to waking up just to get their hands on a good cup!  If you put yourself in this category, this article is for you!  At our house, we buy all kinds of coffees and creamers and experiment with each and every one of them. They’re so good that I thought I’d share with you a few of our faves!Chelsea Crockett - Girl Scout Creamers

Maybe you’d rather grab a Starbucks then make it at home, but it doesn’t have to be that way! Recently, I’ve tried out blueberry flavored coffee. The taste isn’t overbearing but leaves you with a berry aftertaste. Yum! On the other hand, I also like a Nantucket blend with Hershey’s chocolate and caramel creamer.  The choices are endless when buying coffee.  After you pick a couple of flavored coffees, then you’ve got to check out all of the creamers… vanilla/cinnamon, hazelnut, Girl Scout thin mint, Almond Joy…  Whatever flavor you decide upon, you can make it hot or let it cool and add ice.  Either way, it’s fun to explore the world of coffee!

Oh, and the coffee flavor doesn’t end there, it also comes in the form of ice cream, yogurt, and cake!  You can go to the grocery store and bring home some coffee flavored ice cream to try out for yourself. Plus, apart from the amazing taste, coffee can give you a little extra boost to make it through the day.  Tell me about your favorite mix, maybe I’ll give it a try!

Long Hair Probz

Long Hair Probz
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/chelsea-crockett-long-hair-probz.jpg

There are some things only girls with long hair will understand. Short-haired ladies, we love you to death, and sometimes I am super tempted to join the short hair club because having long hair is pretty much a full time job. So, long-haired ladies, this article is for YOU! Here are 7 things that only girls with long hair understand.

  1. Pre-hair cut anxiety: You’ve worked SO HARD to grow your hair out to the length it is, so when trim time comes you get crazy nervous. Like, what if the hair dresser messes up and chops off too much hair and then you have to wait FORRREVER for it to grow back! Ugh.FullSizeRender (6)

  2. “Is that your real hair?”: Were used to this question, yes? Oh, and there is also the “How did you get it so long??” question. Refer to #1 for the answer of this question. I avoid hair cuts! I know I shouldn’t.. I also eat a healthy diet so that also helps!

  3. Having to schedule styling your hair: If I actually want to style my hair for school or going out, I have to set aside about an hour to do so. When you have long hair, it takes forever and a day to style it!

  4. Ponytails everywhere: I have a stash of ponytail holders in my car, purse, around my wrist, all over just in case I get fed up with having my mane in my face.

  5. Car doors + hair=OUCH: I cannot even tell you how many times I’ve shut my car door/rolled up my window on my hair. Talk about ouch.

  6. Dry time: Air drying long hair takes hours, and blow drying isn’t much faster…

  7. The ultimate love/hate relationship: I love having long hair. I also occasionally highly, hiiighly dislike it. But, I honestly don’t know what I would do without it.

Long-haired ladies, do you agree with this list? Comment below it you do!

Salt Scrub Vs. Sugar Scrub

Salt Scrub Vs. Sugar Scrub
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/CHelsea-crockett-salt-vs-sugar-scrub.jpg

I am pretty sure every exfoliating teenage girl is familiar with sugar scrubs, but how many of us know about SALT scrubs? In this article I am going to lay out what both sugar and salt scrubs are and how they differ so you can choose which is best for you! It is important to use some sort of scrub to exfoliate your skin to open your pores so your skin can do what it is supposed to do, which is to get rid of toxins!

Salt scrubs: One thing you need to make sure of when using a salt scrub is that it is made I with sea salt. Using table salt is useless here because only sea salt can help draw out toxins in your body. Salt scrubs are usually used for dryer areas of your body such as your knees and elbows because salt is a lot coarser and sharper than sugar. Avoid sensitive areas when using a salt scrub and also avoid cuts…we all know what happens when you get salt in a wound! OUCH!double-bubble-sugar-scrub-for-teens-8-oz-4785-1

Sugar scrubs: These scrubs can be made with table or unrefined sugar. Table sugar is really great to use on your face because the granules are rounder than those of sea salt, so they are a lot gentler on areas with sensitive skin. Also, sugar scrubs dissolve relatively quickly in water and leave your skin feeling silky smooth! If you are looking for an all-over scrub that you can use everywhere on your body, go with a scrub made from unrefined cane sugar because it is slightly more abrasive than table sugar but it is not as irritating as salt.

There are tons of recipes out there for diy scrubs (especially on this website, hint hint!). What makes these scrubs even better is that they are all natural, so you know you aren’t using any harsh chemicals on your skin!

Happy scrubbing!

How to Improve Your Endurance

How to Improve Your Endurance
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/chelsea-crockett-How-to-Improve-Your-Endurance-.jpg

I am always looking for ways to improve my endurance, which is low long/far your body can go without tiring. When you are running, having good endurance is vital because it keeps you going for longer distances and allows you to stop less. Here are a few ways to help you improve your endurance so you can become the best runner you can be!

  1. Run outside: When you are running on the treadmill and you get tired it is easy to just stop and hop off. When you are running outside, you have to make it home somehow. If you walk, it takes you twice as long to get home, so you are motivated to keep running in order to make it home faster!running-feet

  2. Run with a goal in mind: When you run, have a specific distance in mind. When I am running I keep track of my distance so I can see how close I am to my goal. It is such an awesome feeling when I am close to the end of my run and I can see the end in sight.

  3. Run with a bud: Having a running buddy is always a good idea! They motivate you to actually get out and run, and they also help you improve your running time by pushing you to run faster!

Now, get up, go run, and improve your time!

Pastel Lips

Pastel Lips
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/Chelsea-Crockett-summer-jeans1.png

When you hear of lipstick, most of you are probably used to wearing or seeing the classic colors like hot pink or red.  Lately, a new trend of lipstick colors have arrived and I love them!  Between light pink, lavender, and light coral, pastels are the summers hottest lip colors! Chelsea Crockett- light pink lip

Pastels can be tricky to wear.  Since the color is so light, it shows everything…I’m talking about dryness and cracked lips.  Before trying on a pastel lip color, be sure to exfoliate your lips.  If you don’t have lip scrub, try rubbing a damp washcloth in a circular motion on your lips.  This is an easy way to get the effects of a lip scrub.  Pastel lipstick can also wash you out.  Since most of us are tan in the summer, trying out a pastel lip color during the summer months is ideal!

If you’re going to try a pastel lip, don’t wear a pastel outfit.  This is where most people go wrong!  Try wearing cream, white, and nude colors to offset your lipstick!  This way, your outfit will still be light without being too “matchy”.  Be daring this summer with a pastel lip!  Who knows, maybe you’ll start a new trend in your town!

XOXO,

Chelsea

Dangerous Beauty Habits

Dangerous Beauty Habits
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/Chelsea-Crockett-Dangerous-Beauty-Habits.jpg

Surprisingly enough, some of your daily beauty habits aren’t making you more beautiful.  They could actually be dangerous!  Too many beauty products are abused, causing them to do harm instead of actually help.  Look below to see if you’re doing any of these dangerous beauty habits! Chelsea Crockett- over-exfoliating

  • Every girl wants bronzed, summer skin, but hitting the tanning bed can be detrimental to the health of your skin. Every time you tan you are killing healthy skin cells and increasing your chance of getting skin cancer. No tan is worth that!

  • Exfoliating is a great way to unclog pores and remove dead skin cells, but over-exfoliating or using a tough exfoliator can tear the skin and cause it to become more sensitive to products in the future.

  • Picking at zits is a deadly act. Once popped, peeling away at the dead skin will only cause the skin to take longer to heal or worse, scarring. Instead, leave it alone. It may look ugly, but the blemish will go away in no time.

  • Touching your face seems like a harmless task, but it’s actually a crime to your skin. Every time your hand touches your skin, you’re transferring whatever dirt or oil your hands have accumulated that day onto your face…clogging your pores.

  • If you use a lot of hair products, rinsing it out properly when you shower is important. Just washing it and quickly rinsing it is alright, but eventually the excess product will build up. Rinse your hair longer than you think you should.

  • Never sleep with your makeup on! When you get your beauty rest, your pores will clog leaving you an unpleasant surprise in the morning.

Taking care of your skin and body properly is so important for a healthy complexion!  Keep these in mind and you’re on your way to the best skin and hair you’ve ever had.

XOXO,

Chelsea

Style Tips from Gossip Girl"s Queen B

Style Tips from Gossip Girl"s Queen B
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/Chelsesa-Crockett-Style-Tips-from-Gossip-Girls-Queen-B.jpg

I love the show “Gossip Girl.” Where do you think I got the idea to sign my blogs “XOXO, Chels”? Plus, Blair Waldorf is my style idol. There are a few valuable lessons we can learn from queen B. Here are the style rules that Blair wouldn’t get caught breaking.

  1. ALWAYS dress to impress: It doesn’t matter if you are just running out to grab a cup of coffee or running errands, keep it stylish!Leighton+Meester+struts+olive+green+coat+Longchamp+PooAOYVlx4kl

  2. Store flip flops in your evening bag: Or any bag for that matter. If you keep a spare pair of sandals on hand you can wear your cutest, most uncomfortable shoes knowing you have a backup pair of shoes just in case your feet feel likethey are about to fall off!

  3. Try out different hues of the same color in your outfit: What I mean by this is if you are wearing hot pink pants, wear a lighter pink top and maybe carry a deep burgundy handbag. Wear different shades of the same color! This will give your outfit lots of definition and pizazz!

  4. Coordinating your shoes with your purse is A-OK: If you want to coordinate the pattern/color of your purse with your shoes, do it!

  5. Sit like a lady, always: Sit in a way that would make your momma proud; back straight, ankles crossed!

  6. Animal print is okay in small amounts: Animal print is just fine as long as it is worn in small, classy doses!

  7. Red accessories are always a “yes”: Who doesn’t love a lady in red!

  8. Headbands: Never underestimate the power of ‘em.

As said by Blair herself, “Fashion is the most powerful art there is. It’s movement, design, and architecture all in one. It shows the world who we are and who we’d like to be.”

Healthy Breakfast Muffins!

Healthy Breakfast Muffins!
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/Chelsea-Crockett-Healthy-Breakfast-Muffins.jpg

Waking up for school can be a struggle, but making yourself a decently healthy breakfast before school is an even bigger struggle!  It’s easy to just grab a granola bar, pour yourself a sugary bowl of cereal, or worse, skip breakfast all together.  I’ve got the perfect (and healthy) muffin recipe you can whip up on the weekend and eat throughout the week! Chelsea Crockett- healthy chocolate muffins

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • 2 very ripe bananas

  • ¼ cup of maple syrup

  • 1 cup of creamy peanut butter

  • 1/3 cup of cocoa powder

Start by preheating the oven to 350 degrees.  In a food processor or large mixing bowl, combine all of the ingredients.  Once mixed, the batter will be VERY sticky.  Make sure to grease the pan before pouring the mixture into the molds.  Try using a wet spoon to get the batter out.  Place the muffins in the oven for 15 minutes and wait until they are completely cool before chowing down!  They should last up to a week if you place them in the fridge!  Hope you enjoy!

Love,

Chelsea

Importance of Winter Weather SPF

Importance of Winter Weather SPF
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/chelsea-crockett-Importance-of-Winter-Weather-SPF-.jpg

We all know that wearing sunscreen during the summer time is a no-brainer. But wait, did you know that it is just as important to wear SPF in the winter? It doesn’t matter if you are inside all day at school or work, you still need to protect your skin!images

UV rays are everywhere even in winter! The rays penetrate the windows of your car, of your school, even your house! They are especially harmful in the snowy weather because the sunlight reflects off the snow and strengthens the rays. The sun can even harm you on cloudy days! The sun causes your skin to age and can cause spider veins and loss of fullness in your lips. Hands show aging the most, so watch out when you have your hands on a sunny steering wheel! Your neck is quick to show the signs of aging as well, so watch out! Sun damage adds up quickly, so every little bit you can prevent helps!

One easy way to get your SPF in is to use a moisturizer with sunscreen in it.

London Fashion Week 2015: The Experience

London Fashion Week 2015: The Experience

One of my writers recently got the opportunity to attend London Fashion Week.  Her experience sounded amazing, so I wanted to share it with all of you!  You never know…maybe you’ll end up at London Fashion Week one day!Chelsea Crockett- London Fashion Week 2015

London Fashion Week was from February 20-24 and took place at various locations throughout the city.  As the most wonderful time of the year began, Lexi started day 1 at the showrooms at the Somerset House, where most of the action took place.  Paparazzi and fashion bloggers were everywhere taking pictures of the high-end and couture outfits of the spectators.  Models were being rushed in and out of the backstage doors as well as designers showing off their perfect creations.  Burberry and TopShop were two of the biggest shows of this year’s fashion week.  Celebrities like Kendall Jenner, Cara Delevingne, Kate Moss, and Sam Smith were spotted attending and walking throughout different shows.

Not only did London Fashion Week consist of shows, but Naomi Campbell also had a charity show and benefit, local designers held showrooms, and attendees could shop at pop-up shops.  As you can tell, it was quite the experience!  Fashion is everywhere!

XOXO,

Chelsea (as told by Lexi)
