Why Weightlifting is Good For You

Why Weightlifting is Good For You
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/chelsea-crockett-why-weightlifting-is-good-for-you.jpg

Usually when I think of working out, I think of doing cardio. I think of running or biking or doing short exercise circuits. Fitness experts are saying that weight lifting is just as or even more important than getting that cardio in! When I say weight lifting I don’t mean getting huge bulky muscles or bench pressing your body weight. Light lifting can actually help you get slim, toned, and in the best shape ever! Here is the deets.  416F66RTE0L._SX300_

  1. You will melt more fat: For real. Researchers have found that people who lift weights shed 6 more pounds of fat than those who only did cardio.

  2. Boost your metabolism: As you get older you begin to lose muscle mass, which can tank your metabolism. Lifting weights and building muscle keeps your metabolism kicking!

  3. You will burn through more cals: Your body continues to burn calories even after your workout is done when you lift weights. This is because your muscles have to work extra hard to repair their fibers!

  4. You will catch more Zzz’s: Strength training helps you improve your quality of sleep and helps you fall asleep faster.

In the past, weight lifting has not been my favorite thing in the world, but I have been making sure to work some weight training into my exercise routines because I know it will help me maintain a healthy, fit lifestyle!

Witch Hazel Makeup Setting Spray

Pour three tablespoons of water into a spray bottle, then add just one tablespoon of witch hazel. Shake the bottle for about a minute and put it in the fridge.

Foods to Avoid if You"re Trying to Lose Weight

Foods to Avoid if You"re Trying to Lose Weight
https://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/chelsea-crockett-foods-to-avoid-if-youre-trying-to-lose-weight.jpg

Are you trying to shed a few pounds before the school year starts getting crazy busy, or are you trying to keep weight off and maintain your summer bod? There are a few foods that you need to steer clear from if you want to be successful. So, if you want to shed a few pesky pounds or keep your weight where it is, avoid THESE foods!

  1. Frosting: I know I know, it is just SO GOOD! But, it is actually so BAD. It is packed with trans fats, which raise bad cholesterol and can lead to belly fat! Plus, it can lead to inflammation and bloating, which is totally no bueno.LuckyCharms_Bowl

  2. Soda: We all know this one. Soda is something that should be out of your diet, whether you are trying to lose weight or not! One can of soda is like a can of water with 10 packs of sugar in it. For us gals, the recommended daily amount of sugar intake is 24 grams, and a soda has 39 grams! You go way over your daily sugar intake with just one soda.

  3. Sugary cereal: I will be the first to admit that I love me a big bowl of Lucky Charms in the morning, especially when I want a sweet, quick breakfast in college. But, sugary cereal can actually cause your skin to break out and become red because of the high gluten content! Yikes!

These are just a few of many not-so-good for you items that you need to nix if you are trying to melt away the pounds, but it is always good to start off small and work your way up! Good luck!

How to Eat Healthy On A Budget

How to Eat Healthy On A Budget
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/chelsesa-crockett-How-to-Eat-Healthy-On-A-Budget.jpg

The phrase “poor college student” is no joke. Between paying for classes and books and room and board and other essentials, college can really do a number on the ‘ole bank account. When you are tight on cash, usually the last thing on your mind is eating healthy. I mean, eating healthy is expensive compared to the $1 cheeseburger you could eat instead. Actually, eating healthy doesn’t have to be expensive. Here are a few ways to still eat healthy, even when you are tight on cash.

  1. Meal prep: This is a big thing now-a-days. Prepping your meals ahead of time saves you money because you aren’t _6877107tempted to go out to eat because you already have your meal made! So, have fun making a few healthy meals with your roommates and then pack them up in separate containers to use for lunches and dinners for the rest of the week.

  2. Use a coupon: I know pulling out a coupon at the store may make you feel toootally uncool, but trust me when I say that I actually think people who use coupons are smart and I want to be like them! Saving money and eating healthy is a great combo. Checking the store ad before heading out to shop helps you see what produce is on sale that week.

  3. Only buy organic when it is necessary: Eating organic food is an awesome way to avoid pesticides and GMOs, but most of the time organic is considerably more expensive. Buying organic foods that would normally have a high amount of pesticides is the best way to go about it. The foods that normally have high amounts of pesticides are apples, celery, strawberries, peaches, spinach, grapes, and blueberries. Focus on buying organic options of these items, and don’t worry about buying organic for your other produce.

Eating healthy and staying on budget doesn’t have to be hard!

Tassel Fashion

Tassel Fashion
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/chelsea-crockett-tassel-fashion.jpg

The “tassel” trend is one of my faves right now. My favorite store in my hometown, “MOD”, has some great tassel pieces that I have my eye on. I know this fashion trend will be in full swing this fall, so I want to make sure you know all the details! Here are my favorite ways to rock the trend.tassel

  1. With necklaces: I love the tassel necklace trend. You can spruce up any simple ensemble with a spunky tassel necklace. I love the pops of color and accents they add!

  2. On handbags: This is such a fun way to make your outfit pop! Keep your outfit simple, wear whites or other neutrals, and add in a handbag featuring tassels. I love the fun playfulness of them!

  3. On apparel: Show your fun, fashionista side by wearing pieces that feature tassels! I love this shirt that has tassels on the bottom. Wear it with a pair of jeans and cute flats and you are ready for a fun day out on the town, or it can even be a simple date night outfit!

Will you be rocking the tassel trend this fall?

Why I Have A Daily Time Alone with God

Why I Have A Daily Time Alone with God
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/cheslsea-crockett-why-I-have-a-daily-time-alone-with-God.jpg

Every day I have a quiet time with God. It is my time with God to show Him that He is first in my life. If you follow me on Snapchat or Instagram, you have probably seen me post photos of what I am studying or learning about. I love diving into God’s word and seeing what He will teach me. Here are 3 reasons I make my daily time with God a priority.

  1. God is my refuge: When life gets crazy, scary, overwhelming, or is just getting the best of you, we should run to God. I find safety and rest in God. Knowing that I have that safe place with Him comes from studying His word. I do a daily time with God even when life is great, because I am preparing for the times when life is not-so-great.FullSizeRender (29)

  2. It is a way to worship Him: Time is precious, and we don’t have much of it. We are a go go go society, and we fill our days to the brim. Since time is limited, what we spend our time on shows what we value. When we give God part of our day and spend time with Him, we show Him that we value Him. We show Him he is worthy of our time.

  3. It is exercise: Soul exercise, that is. We exercise our bodies to keep us healthy and strong, so why not exercise our soul to do the same? Devotions force our attention off of ourselves and our selfish distractions and desires and put our pursuit onto God and His purpose and promises for us. When we stop working out, our bodies get out of shape, and when we stop spending time with God every day, our Faith does the same.

I encourage everyone to dive into God’s word and spend time with Him every day. It is amazing what a difference it can make in your life.

4 Lazy Girl Back-To-School Hairstyles

4 Lazy Girl Back-To-School Hairstyles
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/chelsea-crockett-4-lazy-girl-back-to-school-hair-styles.jpg

On school days, the last thing I want to do is get up earlier than I have to in order to do my hair. I definitely lean on the lazy side when it comes to styling my hair on school mornings. But, if you are like me, you want to be able to sleep in AND have cute hair. Here are some easy options for us lazy gals!

  1. Half-up braid: Take the hair from both of your temples and pull it back. Secure the top half of your hair into a clear elastic band, then braid it. Secure the braid with another clear band, then loosen the strands a bit to give it a slightly messy look. Twist the braid around itself into a bun, then secure with bobby pins. Easy and so cute!11-flower-braid-half-up-half-down-hairstyle

  2. Easy curls: Pull your hair into a high ponytail. Split the hair into two or three sections, depending on how thick your hair is. Take one section, wrap the whole thing around the barrel of a curling wand, and let it curl. Do this to all your sections, take the ponytail down, and voila! Easy, fast curls.

  3. No heat curls: Take an elastic headband and place it on your head like a halo. Then, twist sections of your hair and wrap them around the band. Do this with all of your hair so it is all wrapped around the headband, then head to bed. Wake up, take the headband out, and you will have curls for days!

  4. Blow dry waves: If you are a gal who likes to shower in the morning, while you are blow drying your hair, twist large sections and blow dry them. This will give you easy waves and saves you time by ditching your curling iron!

Have more time for sleep AND have great hair? Sign me up!

Curling Iron Tips and Tricks

Curling Iron Tips and Tricks
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/chelsea-crockett-turling-rion-tips-and-tricks.jpg

Curling irons can take a lot of practice and training to be able to control. In order to get the most of your out of your curling iron and get the best curls possible there are a few tricks you need to have up your sleeve at all times.

  1. Know the difference in barrels: AKA know what size barrel works best for you. If your hair curls better with a smaller barreled iron, stick with it. If your hair works better with the bigger barrel because you prefer looser, wavier curls, then work it. Practice makes perfect!images (2)

  2. Short hair hacks: If you have short hair, use a small-barreled iron pointed downward. Also, make your curls tighter on the underside of your hair because this will help your ‘do to have more volume.

  3. Quick curls: Pull your hair into a high pony and curl your it while it is up for quick easy waves. Once you are done curling and have let your hair cool, take the ponytail down and lightly spray with hair spray.

  4. Clamp it up: Face the clamp of your curling iron forward to spin the hair through it more easily, and clamp around the middle of your hair. Clamping hair from the bottom of the strand makes it harder and more awkward to curl around the iron.

  5. Root to tip: The closer to the root you start the curl, the longer the curl will last.

  6. Wand tricks: When you are using a wand with different sized ends, turn it upside down. This allows you to start curling your roots on the larger end of the wand. Also, hold the wand behind your head to avoid burning your face or ears!

Next time you are curling your locks, keep these tips in mind!

My Go-To Face Masks for Oily Skin

My Go-To Face Masks for Oily Skin
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/Chelsea-Crockett-Face-Masks-for-Oily-Skin.jpg

Oily skin is something some of us are unfortunately cursed with.  It seems that no matter what we do, our makeup is already coming off an hour after we apply it!  There are some brands that offer amazing face masks that soak up the extra moisture in your pores and leave your skin feeling refreshed.  Here are a few of my faves!

Clinique is one of the best companies that caters to sensitive skin.  You never have to worry about breaking out or having a negative reaction to their products. Chelsea Crockett - Clinique Face Masks Their Acne Solutions™ Oil-Control Cleansing Mask is a clay-based mask that keeps your skin shine-free.  Clay-based masks are my favorite because you can instantly feel a change in your skin after using them.  This product has a non-drying formula that won’t irritate or dry out your skin.  You can buy it for $23!

Another face mask that helps get rid of oil and clogged pores is Boscia’s Luminizing Black Mask from Sephora.  This mask detoxes, purifies, and brightens your skin and peels off when you’ve left it on for the recommended amount of time.  It’s rich in minerals and gets rid of enlarged pores, oiliness, dullness, and uneven texture.  This product is free of artificial fragrance and color, ethanol alcohol, and gluten and can be found at Sephora for $34!

Get rid of oily skin for good by trying one of these face masks for yourself!

5 Steps to Loving Yourself

5 Steps to Loving Yourself
https://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/Chelsea-Crockett-Self-Love.jpg

We’re all at that crucial age of figuring out who we want to be, despite the pressure coming from friends, society, and many other factors that try to shape us into who they want us to be instead.  With all of the standards and expectations put on girls throughout social media, magazines, movies, etc., they make it hard to love the skin we’re in… But that’s exactly what we need to learn to do!  Here are 5 steps that will make you start loving yourself fully and wholeheartedly! Chelsea Crockett - Love Yourself Quote

  1. Avoid perfection.  Putting impossible standards on yourself will never make you happy!  You’ll be let down every time.  Don’t expect to be someone you can’t and shouldn’t be!

  2. Stay off of social media.  I don’t mean to delete all of your accounts and shut yourself out of them forever.  What I mean by this is to not log on just to compare yourself to every girl you see.  If you find yourself doing this, just log off and find something fun and positive to do.

  3. Look in the mirror and point out three things you love about yourself every day.  Positive reassurance is totally underrated.  It really works!  Give yourself three compliments each morning to continue finding things you love about yourself.

  4. Get the right mentality.  Having a negative attitude never helps in any situation.  Work on being happy and positive when it comes to your body.

  5. Acknowledge your achievements and treat yourself.  Sometimes we get down on ourselves for thinking that we’ve failed and just want to give up.  Acknowledge your success and focus on that!  Treat yourself so you feel rewarded and optimistic!

Hopefully you can soak in these tips and learn to appreciate yourself for who you are!

Top 5 Skin Maintenance Rules

Top 5 Skin Maintenance Rules
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/chelsea-crockett-top-5-skin-maintenance-rules.jpg

To the girls who have naturally clear skin: I envy you! Girls like me who have to work to have clear skin long to have your gorgeous “I woke up like this” façade. According to experts, there are a few “rules” that you need to follow in order to get fabulously flawless skin. Here are those very rules so you know NOT to break them!

  1. SPF all day every day: Wear a minimum of SPF 15 on a daily basis. This will help prevent skin damage, wrinkles, sunburn, and skin cancer.FullSizeRender (13)

  2. Get your <3 pumping: Exercise isn’t always the most fun activity on the planet, but when you get that heart pumping you are delivering oxygen to your skin! Plus, you are burning calories and toning that fab figure.

  3. Say no to cigarettes: Not only is smoking terrible for your health in general, it is also horrible for your skin. Smoking causes your lung capacity to decrease, which causes decreased oxygenation of your tissues and gives your liver too much work to do to process the toxins. This causes your skin to dehydrate, stop glowing, and become inflamed.

  4. Don’t pick at zits: If you pop your pimples, you can cause them to scar! The best way to zap a zit is to put an ice cube wrapped in a cloth on your pimple for a minute.

  5. Exfoliate: This can help get rid of acne scars and also allows skin products to absorb better and work more effectively!

These are just a few things experts say will help you get gorgeous skin. Seems easy enough, right?

Easy Messy Curls

Easy Messy Curls
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/chelsea-crockett-easy-messy-curls.jpg

When styling your hair into curls, there are two categories: fresh curls and messy curls. Both are great styles and are worn for different reasons. Fresh curls are meant to look pretty and put-together, whereas messy curls are a more “everyday” “effortless” casual look. I love the way my hair looks when it is freshly curled. The curls are all bouncy and shiny! Buuuuut, there is something to be said about “second day” curls. They are looser, messier, and give off that “effortless” look. Want to know how to get “second day” curls without having to sleep on them/wait a whole day? Stay tuned!mcx-beach-sprays-ogx

  1. The first step is to divide your hair into sections and curl it how you normally do. You can use a curling iron, wand, straightener, whichever you prefer!

  2. Okay, so after you have curled all of your hair, take your fingers and run them through your hair. The goal is to loosen up the curls and separate them. You can also use a wide-toothed comb for this step instead of your fingers!

  3. Take some dry shampoo or texture spray and spray it throughout your hair, on the roots and the curls. This will “dirty up” your hair and make it a little messier. I also use sea salt spray to mess it up a bit.

See how easy it is to get “second day” curls on the first day? Super-duper easy! Let me know in the comment section if your “second day” curls turned out cute!

Pre and Post-Flight Makeup Tips

Pre and Post-Flight Makeup Tips
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/chelsea-crockett-pre-and-post-flight-makeup-tips.jpg

I have been a flying fiend recently! I spend lots of time on planes. If you are planning on doing some traveling any time soon, then you are going to want to read this article! I have listed a few of my beauty travel tips I use when I am traveling. Moving to Cali for college means flying to school, then flying home for breaks and to see my family, so these beauty tips will come in handy these next few years.aveeno-daily-moisturizer-ictcrop_gal

  1. Exfoliate pre-flight: The day before you fly, make sure to exfoliate. This will get all of those yucky dead skin cells off of your skin, and will also prepare you for #2 on this list.

  2. Moisturize it up: Flights can do a number on your skin. So, after you exfoliate, moisturize to the max! Also moisturize the day of your flight.

  3. Go easy on the makeup: The trick is to keep it light! You want to be comfy when you are traveling, and wearing a lot of makeup can make getting comfortable quite difficult. Keep it light, keep it comfy!

  4. Be ready to touch up: Odds are, after a day of traveling, your eyeliner is going to smear, your eyes are going to look tired, and your foundation is probably going to be smudged or cakey. Keep some highlighter and powder with you to brighten you up!

Safe travels!

Time-Saving "Getting Ready" Hacks

Time-Saving "Getting Ready" Hacks
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/tumblr_o4yyw3VCVk1rlpicfo1_500.jpg

I have started to realize that as grow up, I have less and less time. Time just seems to run away and I never have enough of it! This includes time to get ready. Time is precious, so here are a few ways to make your “getting ready” routine faster to make you feel like you have more time to do things you need/want to do.

  1. Kick winged eyeliner to the curb: Ain’t nobody got time for that. Winged liner is awesome, but it is also time 80437916c20dab419c33116021812d9aconsuming. Applying it is an art, and if you mess it up you can be stuck trying to re-do it and make yourself feel stressed and late. Either find an easy way of doing it, or opt for a simpler eyeliner routine.

  2. Prep your food: Yes, this is part of getting ready! If you are in college and on time and money budgets, then prep your lunch the night before. This way you don’t have to worry about putting together snacks and your lunch in the morning when you are trying to get out the door.

  3. Prep your clothes: This is actually one of my favorite things in my “prep” routine. I love picking out my outfits and accessories the night before because it gives me something to look forward to in the morning! Plus, when I wake up I don’t have to worry about what looks good with what, because I will have already figured it out.

  4. Master the 5-minute makeup routine: Look up “5 minute makeup routine” on YouTube to find a routine that works for you! You will be mastering your own 5-minute routine in no time!

I think I will be rocking the whole “college” thing with these “getting ready quick” hacks!

http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/chelsea-crockett-beauty-products-that-help-beat-the-heat.jpg

In Illinois, summers are so hot they will melt your face off. Or, should I say, melt your foundation off. High temps are beauty products’ worst nightmare. Luckily there are products out there that actually help you stay cool! Don’t go splashing water on your face to cool yourself down, ruining your makeup in the process. Here are just a few life-saving products that will help refresh you so you don’t feel suffocated by your makeup in the heat!

  1. Cucumber mist: Ever heard the phrase “cool as a cucumber”? Try a cooling cucumber mist when you are feeling toasty to help you feel fresh.s1782085-main-zoom

  2. Cooling rollerball: There is a product called “Milk Makeup Cooling Water” from Sephora that will help soothe hot skin. Roll it on the warmer parts of your body like your underarms or neck before stepping outside to help you feel cool.

  3. Use cooling sunscreen: Neutrogena has a product called “Fresh Cooling Mist Sunscreen” that protects you from the sun while also cooling your skin. Sunscreen that keeps you cool AND protected is a double win!

  4. Cool lips: Using minty lip products will keep your lips feeling cool and hydrated! I don’t know about you, but when my lips feel cool and refreshed, the rest of my body does too.

Stay cool, cuties!

5 Hacks for Making Your Period Better

5 Hacks for Making Your Period Better
https://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/Chelsea-Crockett-Period-Hacks.jpg

Ladies, our time of the month is never fun.  It’s annoying, painful, and sometimes we even have to plan things around it!  It’s just a part of life that we have to deal with.  That being said, there are certain things we can do to make them a little less awful!  Here are 5 hacks that will make you think differently about your period.

  • Buy a heating pad.  Heating pads work wonders when it comes to cramps. Chelsea Crockett - Exercise I suggest getting one that doesn’t have a cord so you don’t have to deal with the hassle.  Most are microwavable so they’re quick and easy!

  • Cut out the caffeine.  Caffeine can cause your body to retain more water which will make your bloating worse than it already is.

  • Start taking Advil/Ibuprofen two days before your period starts.  Your body starts releasing hormones a couple days before your period actually begins.  Stay ahead of all of the cramps and pain!

  • Exercise, exercise, exercise.  When you work out, your body releases hormones called endorphins that make your body feel good.  They work on canceling out the bad hormones from your period!

  • Go to bed early.  Periods often cause fatigue which leads to long, tiresome days.  A little extra sleep is never a bad idea!

Let me know what hacks you use for when you’re on your period!

My Ritz Carlton Experience

My Ritz Carlton Experience
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/Chelsea-Crockett-Ritz-Carlton.jpg

Recently, I was treated to a weekend at the Ritz Carlton hotel in St. Louis.  I had always heard of how amazing and over-the-top hospitable this chain of hotels was, but I never truly knew how great they were until I experienced it firsthand!  If you follow me on social media, then I’m sure you’ve already seen most of the treats and gifts the Ritz provided me with.  Here’s a little recap of my weekend and all of the amazing things they did for me!

When I arrived, I was overwhelmed with all the love and kindness from the Ritz staff and hotel.  The treats and desserts they made for me were to die for!  First, they surprised me with a cake that was modelled after my car!  Then they prChelsea Crockett - Ritz Carlton Giftsovided me a tray with chocolate covered strawberries, cupcakes, and lipstick shaped treats!  How cute is that?  Not only did they surprise me with food and treats but some products and clothing as well!  They even set up a display of a bunch of pictures from my YouTube and Instagram!

When we checked in, we were given two club level suites with free food all day.  I felt absolutely pampered the whole time.  Everyone at the hotel continued to go above and beyond my expectations and I couldn’t have asked for a better weekend!

Target Skincare: What Would I Recommend?

Target Skincare: What Would I Recommend?
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/Chelsea-Crockett-Target-Skincare.jpg

If you’ve been up-to-date with my YouTube channel, then you’ve probably seen my video about which skincare products I’m going to take to college with me.  All of the products I featured in the video were purchased from Target, so they’re not super pricey but still good quality!  Here are some of my favorite skincare products that you can try for yourself!

  • Clean & Clear Facial Cleanser Makeup Dissolving Wipes.  Sometimes I get very lazy and don’t have the energy to go through my entire night routine. Chelsea Crockett - Clean & Clear If this is the case, I’ll use one of these wipes to remove all of my makeup, dirt, and oil of my face before I go to bed!

  • Clean & Clear Morning Burst Facial Scrub.  This stuff is my absolute favorite!  It has a citrus fragrance that is so refreshing and gives me a burst of energy to start my day.

  • Garnier Micellar Water.  If you’ve never heard of micellar water, you need to try it!  It works as a facial cleanser, makeup remover, or simply a skin hydrator.  It leaves my skin feeling so refreshed!

  • Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel-Cream.  I love this product to help get rid of puffy morning eyes.  This will definitely be helpful for early morning classes once school starts up again!

  • Aveeno Moisturizer.  Aveeno moisturizers are super hydrating and great for your skin (especially the Positively Radiant moisturizer with SPF 15!).  They have multiple different kinds to suit whatever your skin type may be!

I hope you enjoy these products and get the most bang for your buck while doing so!

Love, Chelsea

Coconut Watermelon Fruit Ice Cubes

Coconut Watermelon Fruit Ice Cubes
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/chelsea-crockett-Coconut-Watermelon-Fruit-Ice-Cubes.jpg

Experts say that we should drink 6-8 cups of water every day. I don’t know about you, but that is pretty tough for me. Here is a sweet summer recipe to spruce up your water and make it more inviting: Watermelon coconut infused ice cubes! Your water will seem so much more fancy, and delicious, when you add in a few of these cubes. Plus, they add extra vitamins and minerals to your H2O! Here is the refreshing recipe.4a969f400f9a5b605af7fc6189ea4ee4

Ingredients:

  • 1 Cup seedless watermelon, pureed

  • 1/8 cup coconut water

  • 1 teaspoon lime juice

Combine these ingredients together and pour them into an ice tray. Freeze them until they are solid, possibly overnight, and then serve! These are sure to be a hit at any summer party, or just at home in a glass of water! Next time you reach for a sugary drink, pop a few of these in a glass of water instead.

XOXO, Chels

Makeup Organization Tips

Makeup Organization Tips
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/chelsea-crockett-Makeup-Organization-Tips.jpg

Organizing your makeup stash can be fun, but also a bit overwhelming. Over the years, most of us accumulate a lot of beauty products. I get sent a lot of products to try, and keeping them all organized is quite the task. If you love makeup and beauty and have a pretty substantial collection, I have a few makeup organization tips to keep you from becoming overwhelmed. Here are my best organizational tips:

  1. Keep makeup brushes in drawers because they collect dust which can subsequently cause breakouts.download (1)

  2. Purchase a clear vanity organizer so that you can both store your makeup and keep it close so it is there when you need it. Also, makeup is pretty so this is a great way to both display and store it.

  3. Store eye and lip liners in a cup on your vanity so you won’t lose them somewhere in a drawer. Also, store them upside down so you can see the color stripe on the packaging so you can quickly determine what color they are.

  4. Go through your products regularly. If you aren’t using something, get rid of it! Also, check for expiration dates and throw away old stuff.

  5. Re-purpose household items to use on your vanity. Use old candle jars to hold things like lip glosses and eyeliners. It will save you money!

  6. If you need organization inspiration, look it up on YouTube! You will come away with so many ideas.

  7. If you have 2 of one product, put the duplicate in a travel bag so next time you go to travel you will already be one step ahead. This will also keep the duplicate product from cluttering up your drawer!

I love the feeling of being organized and having everything in a designated place, don’t you?

Best Texture Spray for Your Money

Best Texture Spray for Your Money
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/Chelsea-Crockett-best-texture-spray-for-your-money.jpg

There is one sort of hair style that I have not been able to fully master, and that is the messy look. You know, the Gigi Hadid, just off of the beach, effortlessly messy hair. I have heard that the key to a successful beachy, wavy, wind-blown style is using texture spray. Not all texture spray is the same, though, so I did a little bit of research to see which one would help me achieve my desired look. Here are my top 3 texturizing sprays, which are all really affordable!not-your-mothers-double-take-dry-finishg-texture-spray

  1. Garnier Fructis De-Constructed Texture Tease: This one costs less than $5…winning! Misting this spray all over your locks gives it that “undone” texture. Spray it on curled hair or natural hair for a boost!

  2. Not Your Mother’s Double Take Dry Finish Texture Spray: I love the “Not Your Mother’s” brand. This spray hydrates your strands with aloe and keratin while giving it a tousled finish. And, it is under $7!

  3. Moroccanoil Dry Texture Spray: This formula absorbs oil and odors while giving your hair grip to hold its style, whether you are rocking an updo or beachy waves! It is also infused with argan oil that conditions and moisturizes your hair. This product is $11, and styles your hair without getting sticky or crunchy!

Having messy, tousled, textured hair in the summer is my dream! I recommend these sprays to anyone who feels the same. 🙂

How to Spend Less Time Shaving

How to Spend Less Time Shaving
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/chelsea-crockett-how-to-spend-less-time-shaving.jpg

Shaving is a pain for many reasons. Not only is it annoying because of how often you have to do it, but also how long it takes each time. And trying to save time and shave fast by running your razor over your legs quickly can only result in irritated skin and cuts. Here are a few things you can do to reduce the time it takes to shave so that you have more time for things you actually WANT to do.k2-_41eb30ee-5a08-4738-8f39-85ba7db68b2d.v1

  1. Use a razor with built-in shaving cream. This allows you to skip the “shaving cream” step of the shave. All you need is water and you are all set.

  2. Prep your skin: Exfoliate in between shaves. Exfoliate, then wait a few days to shave. Your shave will feel way faster when you have scrubbed all of the dead skin off of your legs, and exfoliating preps your skin for a closer shave.

  3. Use less shaving cream: Always use shaving cream because it prevents cuts and nicks, but only use a thin layer. Having too much shaving cream on your legs slows you down by clogging the blades!

Shaving doesn’t have to be an annoyance! Just follow these tips to help speed up the process.

Everyday Habits of Energetic People

Everyday Habits of Energetic People
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/chelsea-crockett-Everyday-Habits-of-Energetic-People.jpg

Do you constantly feel worn out and exhausted? We all have that one energetic friend who never seems to be tired and is peppy and, well, energetic all the time. If you adopt a few daily habits of energetic people, you could find it a lot easier to stay pumped and positive! Here is how to keep your energy levels high and your mood even higher.

  1. Get enough sleep: Duh! If you want to be an energetic person, you need to make sleep a top priority. Getting between 6 and 9 hours of sleep a night is key.FullSizeRender (8)

  2. Workout daily: When you are tired and low on energy, odds are the last thing you want to do is hit the gym. But, working out is one of the best things you can do to boost your energy and protect your health! Making exercise a daily habit boosts your self-esteem, improves your mood because of the endorphins it releases, and fights fatigue.

  3. Have good posture: Yes, standing up straight and practicing good posture is a big deal! Poor posture causes your body to ache, and it can also cause more serious issues like depression and increasing your risk of developing certain diseases, mess with your circulation, and stress you out. Having good posture makes you feel and appear more confident.

  4. Fake it till you make it: Energetic people act energetic, even when they don’t really feel it. I know all of us have been in situations where you are with a group of people who are having fun and you are feeling tired or just aren’t into it, but you fake like you are having fun so you don’t bum others out. Acting like you have energy can actually trick your body into feeling more energetic, and this can be as simple as putting more energy into your voice!

If you strive to be the energetic, lively one in the group, follow these daily habits!

Lace-Up Flats Fashion

Lace-Up Flats Fashion
https://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/chelsea-crockett-Makeup-Organization-Tips-1.jpg

One trend I am really loving is the “lace-up” fashion trend. There are tons of ways to wear this trend, from shirts that lace-up at the top, to dresses that do the same, and even flats that lace up and tie behind your ankles. Today, we are going to focus on lace-up flats and how you can style these trendy shoes. They are so versatile!dress

  1. Casually, with shorts: If you are a casual gal and are looking for an easy but stylish outfit, pair a simple white shirt with cutoff jean shorts and lace-up flats. The flats will give the outfit a fashion-forward flare while the shirt and shorts keep things simple.

  2. Cute, with a dress: If you want to show your dressy side, pair a simple dress with lace-up flats. Because the shoes are your outfit’s focal point, wear a dress that does not have a pattern on it. I love a white dress, nude flat combo!

  3. Effortless, with jeans: Looking for an effortlessly chic outfit? Pair ripped black skinnies with a white shirt and black or nude lace up flats. Easy, simple, and fashionable.

What is YOUR favorite way to wear lace-up flats?

How Exercise Can Make You Feel At Home in a New City

How Exercise Can Make You Feel At Home in a New City
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/chelsea-crockett-How-Exercise-Can-Make-You-Feel-At-Home-in-a-New-City.jpg

If you’re going to a college away from home or are moving to a new city or town, you know that moving can be a stressful, nerve wracking experience. I am nervous about making friends and feeling at home in a new city! One way I know I can feel more at home is to get involved at a gym. Fitness classes are a great place to meet new people and make new friends, and they can help you regain a social life after moving to a new city. Here is how you can make fitness a way to make your new home feel like home.images (2)

First, find a fitness studio or gym that you want to try, or, if you are in college, go to your school’s fitness center. Then find classes there that you think would be fun to take. When you are there, make small talk with other classmates. Try to start conversations, or become part of other people’s. Once you feel comfortable around the group, ask a few of them to go get food after class. Getting to know people and feeling part of a group is so important in making your new city feel like home.

Next, walk or run around your city. Of course you need to be safe when you do this and be aware of your surroundings, but the best way to get to know your new home is to walk or run it! Take a friend with you to make sure you are safe. Instead of taking a bus or Uber or your car, walk. You will discover new shops, restaurants, cafes, yoga studios, parks, and all kinds of other cool landmarks in your city while getting a workout. If you don’t like running on the treadmill (who really does?) then hit the streets of your new home.

I definitely think that getting involved in a gym and in fitness classes will help anyone adjust in a new city and make new friendships. I plan on using this tactic when I move to Cali next month! Not only will you make friends, but you will stay in shape as well. It is a win-win!

Back to School Survival Bag!

Back to School Survival Bag!
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/Chelsea-Crockett-Survival-Bag.jpg

As hard as it is to say it, school is quickly approaching.  As for me, I’m headed off to college on the other side of the country!  Whether you’re starting college, high school, or even junior high, there are certain essentials you’ll need to take with you every day to school.  This will help you survive any hair or beauty emergencies you may experience!

  • A Makeup Bag.  First comes first, you’ll need a small bag to put all of your items in.  I would recommend a makeup bag because they’re stylish and come in all different sizes, patterns, and colors!Chelsea Crockett - Back to School Bag

  • Mini Deodorant.  There are too many times when I leave the house forgetting to apply deodorant or perfume, and it’s the worse!  Keep a small, travel size deodorant in your bag for those forgetful days.

  • Shout Wipes/Tide Stick.  A good day can easily be ruined by a stained shirt.  Shout wipes can come in handy when you need them most!

  • Concealer/Foundation.  Whenever I cover up a pesky pimple, it seems to make its way out throughout the day.  Carry some concealer and/or foundation so you can reapply!

  • Money.  There are so many times when I show up to school forgetting I need cash for a t-shirt, field trip dues, etc.  It’s always good to carry around some extra cash!

As for what not to bring, don’t waste space on things that will most likely already be provided in class or at school.  Things such as tissues, medicines, band aids, etc. will probably be available if you ask!  Think of things that you’ll need in case of emergency that they won’t have for you there!

I hope that’s helpful! – Chelsea

Newest Obsession: Acid Wash Print

Newest Obsession: Acid Wash Print
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/Chelsea-Crockett-Acid-Wash-Print.jpg

The one thing I like about fashion is all the prints, patterns, and colors you can mix and match to find your perfect look.  Recently, Chelsea Crockett - Acid Wash DressI’ve found many stores and boutiques that offer all different articles of clothing in the acid wash print, and I love it!  Here’s a little insight and what my take is on this trend!

If you’re going for a retro or grunge look, then this print is the perfect way to do it!  Chelsea Crockett - Acid Wash ShirtMy favorite way to rock this trend is with a casual dress like the one on the left.  Pair these dresses or tops with silver jewelry and a pair of booties, sandals, or even converse if you’re going for a more casual look.  If you want a subtler acid wash look, you can find t-shirt dresses and simple tees like the one on the right.

With acid wash, there are different types of color pairings that make for the cutest outfits!  Like the picture on the left, you can find white and navy or even pinks, purples, etc. like the picture above.  If you want a similar pattern but one that is less grunge, try marble print.  These two styles are very similar, but marble print is a little nicer!  Decide for yourself which one you like better!

New School Year Hacks

New School Year Hacks
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/Chelsea-Crockett-New-School-Year-Hacks.jpg

As the school year approaches, most of us are dreading getting back into the routine of waking up early, homework, and much more.  There are certain tips and hacks that will help you get back into the swing of things but will also help you throughout the entire school year.  I know it can get hard!  That being said, here are some hacks from yours truly!

For the first week:

  • Plan exciting breakfasts for you to look forward to.  Chelsea Crockett - School OutfitI know if I have my favorite breakfast in my kitchen with some good coffee to chow down the next morning, I’ll be much happier to get out of bed!  It doesn’t make waking up such a dread!

  • Plan your outfits the night before.  It will save you the time and stress of picking it out while you’re rushing to get ready!  Hang it up so it stays unwrinkled throughout the night.

  • If you’re not 100% confident on knowing your new class schedule, make it your phone’s lock screen.  That way it’s accessible for a quick look.

For the whole year:

  • Studying can get old really fast, especially toward the end of the semester.  Try the tip of studying for 25 minutes then a 5-minute break.  And every third break take an extra 15 minutes!  This will give your brain a little rest so you don’t burn out!

  • When writing an important essay, it’s easy to miss the little typos and grammar issues.  Copy and paste your essay into Google translate and it can read it to you out loud!  It’s much easier to hear your mistakes when listening to it.

I hope these help you out and I wish you a great start to your new school year!

Love, Chelsea
