Holiday Makeup: Ring in the New Year!

Holiday Makeup: Ring in the New Year!
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/Chelsea-Crockett-Holiday-Makeup.jpg

New Year’s Eve is one of my favorite nights. It’s a fresh start into a new year filled with many exciting things to come! Whether you’re going to a New Year’s bash or to a nice dinner with your crush, you’ll need glamorous makeup to start off 2015 the right way! Here are a few of my favorite makeup looks that you can try too!

Chelsea Crockett - Holiday MakeupIf you’re one to rock the bold makeup (colorful eye shadows, bright lips), then try pulling off a blue eye shadow. Try using a light blue, shimmer shadow and applying it to your lids. Then, so you don’t go overboard with the blue, apply a white shimmer to your crease. Finish your eyes off with eyeliner and mascara. A nude lip stick and clear gloss will seal your look (or even a red lipstick like Taylor did on the left!).

Like I said before, you have to be the right person to pull off a certain look. If you’ve seen Kylie Jenner’s matte plum lips, you know how gorgeous they look! If you want a darker lip color, try a dark purple. It’s a bold statement but super trendy! Make sure you go light on the eye shadow and blush. You don’t want too much color. Finish it off with a winged liner and a boosting mascara.

A little shimmer and glitter can never hurt on New Year’s Eve! Urban Decay has a product called Moondust in seven different shades. It’s the perfect way to make your eyes pop! (And it looks great with a sparkly dress!)

I hope you all have a happy new year! – Chels

New Year"s Eve Party Ideas

New Year"s Eve Party Ideas
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/happy-new-year.jpg

Are you throwing a New Year’s party this year or do you know someone who is? If so, then you need ideas on how to make it the BEST New Year’s party everrrr! Here are some pretty entertaining party ideas!

– Glow-in-the-dark games: Because New Year’s parties are at night, that means that you can do glow-in-the-dark games! Some ideas are glow-in-the-dark ring toss and glow in the dark bowling! Check out my article called “glow in the dark party ideas” for more ideas!nye party

-Boxes for each hour: Staying up until midnight strikes can be a bit challenging to some. To stay awake until the New Year, make boxes to open every hour on the hour that have games or treats inside. For instance, the 11:00 box could have the instructions to a fun game for the whole group. The 12:00 box could have sparkling grape juice in it to celebrate the New Year!

-Photo booth: Everyone loves a fun photo both! This photo booth has a New Year’s twist to it. Everyone takes turns taking a photo in the home-made photo booth, and in their photo they are holding a small chalk board on which they have written their New Year’s resolution! Also, there are a few websites on which you can print out fun photo booth props such as hats and glasses!

I hope these ideas help you have the best New Year’s party ever!

New Year"s Eve Outfits

New Year"s Eve Outfits
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/chelsea-crockett-New-Years-eve-outfits-.jpg

New Year’s parties are always a blast! All of your friends gather together to celebrate the start to the new year. No matter where your party is or who it is with, you want to be dressed for the occasion. Here are some outfit suggestions for any New Year’s party situation, whether it be casual, semi casual, or dressy.nye 2

Casual: For a casual outfit, pair a sequined baseball tee with some dark jeans and simple flats or Keds. This ensemble is cozy yet cute!

Semi-casual: I am totally in love with this outfit. Pair a sequined maxi skirt with a basic white v-neck tee. The sequined maxi dresses the outfit up while the white tee tones it down. Wear your hair in beachy waves and wear some nude flats to complete the look.

Dressy: Pair a sequined dress with black tights, black wedges, and a simple black clutch. This outfit is totally adorable and edgy at the same time.

Which outfit is your favorite? I think mine is the sequined maxi. Comment below and let me know!

Happy New Year’s!

Blanket Scarves: How to Style Them

Blanket Scarves: How to Style Them
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/Chelsea-Crockett-How-to-style-blanket-scarves-.jpg

Are you hip with the latest scarf trend? Blanket scarves are my favorite scarf trend yet. They are chunky, cozy, and crazy cute. There are quite a few ways to wear these expansive scarves, and I will highlight a few of my favorites. Here is the 411 on how to rock a blanket scarf.30-blanket-scarves-bloggers

The “normal” way: This is just your average every-day way to wear a scarf. Because blanket scarves are quite a bit thicker than normal scarves, they take a bit getting used to and can be a bit tricky to tie at first, but with a little help from Pinterest you will be a pro blanket scarf wearer in no time!

Belted: I love this way to style blanket scarves because it is classy and unique. Drape your blanket scarf over your shoulders and let the ends of the scarf hang down the front of your body. Next, take a belt and place it over the scarf and secure it around your waist. Now you have a super cute, unique way to stay warm and rock the scarf! This style almost makes the scarf act as a vest. Wear with nice dark jeans and riding boots for a classy look.

As a shawl: In this style you just wear the scarf around your shoulders as a shawl. This is a nice casual way to keep cozy and cute. Wear your scarf-shawl over a simple long-sleeved shirt with jeans and boots!

Now go rock those blanket scarves, ladies! I found a few adorable ones at Charlotte Russe, Just FYI :)

Real vs. Fake Eyelashes

Real vs. Fake Eyelashes
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/Chelsea-Crockett-Real-vs-Fake-Eyelashes.jpg

Have you ever seen someone with gorgeous fake eyelashes and wondered if you could pull off those luscious lashes, too? Whether you worry about looking unnatural or hurting your real lashes, there are several pros to fake lashes… but with pros come cons and I’m here to help you decipher the two!   So, here are my thoughts on the great debate: real vs. fake?

CONS

  • Infections. Not that these are very commonChelsea Crockett - Fake Eyelashes or unavoidable, but they can occur! As long as you use your fake lashes and yours only, then the risk of infection goes way down. Sharing isn’t always good :)! Be extra careful you don’t accidentally get yours switched up with your friends. (Make sure you’re not allergic, too!  Yikes!)

  • You have to be very careful when putting on your false lashes. If you’re wearing long-lasting ones, you have to be sure not to drip the glue onto your real lashes. You don’t want to accidentally pull off your real ones when taking off your fake ones! Ouch!

  • The cost is yet another con. Although a set of fake lashes aren’t super pricey, they’re still more than mascara. With mascara, you have several days’ uses for long lashes instead of continually paying the price for false ones.

PROS

  • The most obvious pro is making your lashes look lusher, fuller, and longer than they actually are. If you’re one that has thin, short eyelashes, these might be for you!

  • Another fun positive is being able to dress up your look. Having bolder eyes than you normally do can make your makeup look more formal, and can even brighten up your whole look!

  • False lashes come in a huge variety of sizes, shapes, prices, etc. You can get individual lashes that are more natural looking or go full out and get a thick strip to make your eyes pop!

I prefer real lashes for the more natural look and quick application, but I’ll let you decide! So… real or fake?

3 DIYs for Winter Break!

3 DIYs for Winter Break!
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/Chelsea-Crockett-3-DIYs-for-Winter-Break.jpg

Winter break is the most awaited time of the semester. After all the tests, homework assignments, and pop quizzes, nothing is needed more than a nice, long break. Although our days off are spent shopping for last minute Christmas gifts and baking sugar cookies, some are filled with long afternoons of boredom. So… here are a few winter-themed “do it yourself” ideas for those dreadful days!

If your friends are in the same boring boat as you, invite them over and have a mini spa day! There are soooo many DIY products that are super fun to make, especially if you incorporate Christmas scents such as peppermint or cinnamon. Recipes for do it yourself lip scrubs or face masks can be found all over Pinterest! How relaxing :)!

If you have a couple old Christmas sweaters laying around your house, this DIY is just what you’re looking for! Instead of letting your worn-out sweater sit and collect dust in your closet, change it into a couple different accessories! If the sleeves are big enough, cut them off and make them into leg warmers! These are definitely back in style, look to the left for example. You can also make it into an infinity scarf! There are many ways to go about this, so find your own way whether it’s using the neck hole or the ends of your sweater.Chelsea Crockett - DIY Leg Warmers

Showing off your art skills is another way to occupy spare time. Buy a canvas and some paints, possibly colors to match your room (or even Christmas colors!). This DIY is open to lots of interpretation. I saw on Pinterest that someone painted their canvas green and red to make a Christmas decoration for their room!

What do you plan on doing over break? Tell me below :)!

Christmas Toffee

Christmas Toffee
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/Chelsea-crockett-christmas-toffee.jpg

I have a new sweet & salty addiction and it is called Christmas toffee. I could pop this stuff in my pie hole all day and never tire of it, and I guarantee your friends and family will feel the same! Here is how to make this addicting delicacy.

Ingredients:

  • 30 to 40 saltine crackerspile 1

  • 1 cup unsalted butter

  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed

  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1 1/2 to 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.  Line a 9 x 13 pan or similar with aluminum foil and spray it very well with cooking spray. Place the saltine crackers in a single layer on the bottom of the pan.

  2. In a saucepan, combine butter and sugar and bring to a boil while stirring constantly.  Once a boil is reached, reduce the heat and simmer, uncovered, for 3 to 5 minutes or until mixture has thickened. Stir the mixture often while it simmers to avoid bubbling over or scorching.

  3. After mixture has thickened a bit, remove it from the heat, wait 30 seconds, add the vanilla extract and stir. Pour mixture over the prepared pan with the saltine crackers. Bake in for 5- 7 minutes, or until toffee/liquid becomes bubbly.

  4. After removing the pan from the oven, let it sit for 3 to 5 minutes. Sprinkle on the chocolate chips and wait for 3 to 5 minutes, letting them soften and melt a bit, and then spread and smooth them into an even layer with a spatula. After they have cooled a bit stick the pan in the fridge or freezer to firm them up. My family actually stores the toffee in the fridge to keep it fresh, and it tastes great cold.

Enjoy, and have a Merry Christmas!

Christmas Nails

Christmas Nails
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/Chelsea-crockett-christmas-nails-.jpg

What is a great Christmas outfit without cute Christmas nails? Incomplete! Impress the socks off of everyone this Christmas with your super adorable nails! Here are a few ideas on what nail art to rock to any Christmas event you may attend.

Candy cane nails: Classic! If you want to go all out, then paint candy cane patterns on all of your nails. How you do this is paint all of your nails red and let them dry completely. Then, tape stripes on your nails with scotch tape. Paint white in the gaps of the scotch tape. Peel off the tape when the white paint is dry, and there you have candy cane stripes! If you want to go a little more subtle, paint all of your nails red and then paint one nail with the candy cane pattern as an accent nail.xmas nails

Sweater themed nails: Paint your nails like a Christmas sweater!

Snow nails: Paint all of your nails white and then roll them in glitter. Boom, snowy nails!

Simple classy nails: If you want to go with a subtle nail style, paint all of your nails black and then paint an accent nail with gold glitter paint. This style is edgy yet subtle, and the gold ties in the Christmas theme.

Nail art is the perfect finishing touch to any outfit.

Merry Christmas to you and yours!

DIY Mint Sugar Scrub

DIY Mint Sugar Scrub
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/chelsea-crockett-diy-mint-sugar-scrub.jpg

Are you looking for a cheap, creative gift your all of your girls this Christmas? Or, are you throwing a Christmas party and need party favors for the female guests? Look no further, I have the perfect peperminty solution!

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup coconut oil

  • 1½ – 2 cups sugarPeppermint_Sugar_Scrub

  • 1 tablespoon peppermint extract

  • 1 drop green food coloring

Here is what you do to make this pepperminty scrub:

  1. Place the coconut oil in a bowl and microwave it for 15-25 seconds.

  2. Add 1 ½ cups sugar and the peppermint extract to the oil. Then add the food coloring. Mix the ingredients until they are well combined and the food coloring is evenly mixed. If the mixture is too liquidy, add more sugar.

  3. Spoon the scrub into air-tight containers such as baby food jars or mason jars and decorate with Christmas-y ribbon!

Personally, I would love getting this as a gift or as a party favor! Sugar scrubs are great for exfoliating the skin and ridding it of dead skin. The peppermint smell is an added bonus. It will make you smell and feel super refreshed!

Christmas Presents for your Pooch

Christmas Presents for your Pooch
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/chelsea-crockett-christmas-presents-for-your-pooch-.jpg

You get gifts at Christmas, so why shouldn’t your furry BFF? My dogs Buster, Jolly, and Ella get Christmas gifts because they are like members of the family. We love our doggies, and we know you love yours too! Here are a few ideas on what to get your pooch for Christmas.FullSizeRender

Some of their favorite toys: If they like chew toys, get em a few of em! If they like Frisbees or toys you can throw, get them a few!

A treat ball: Do you wish your dog would slow his roll when eating his treats instead of wolfing them down in .2 seconds? Give him a treat ball that stores a treat and creates a challenge for your dog that they will enjoy for hours!

Super cozy blanket: Just like you love a nice cozy blanket, your dog is just the same! Get them a cozy blanket for sleeping and cuddling.

A super cute outfit: This is more for your benefit than for theirs, but still a great gift! Get them an adorable outfit, such as a Santa costume or a cute winter sweater!

Man’s best friend deserves to have a fabulous Christmas too! These gifts are sure to make them wag their happy little tails.

Merry Christmas!

Christmas Makeup Looks: Natural & Bold!

Christmas Makeup Looks: Natural & Bold!
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/Chelsea-Crockett-Christmas-Makeup-Looks.jpg

Christmas is finally here insiders! It’s time to break out the wrapping paper and sugar cookies. Besides the obvious holiday preparations, you’re going to need a stunning outfit and makeup look to complete it! So… I decided to share two looks with you: natural and bold.

  1. If you want to keep it nice and simple for the holidays, this natural look is for you! Some girls don’t wear makeup all the time, so if you want to try something new for the holidays, I suggest this look! If you have an amazing outfit, you might not want to overdo it with your makeup. Try using your normal foundation with a light pink blush. Then, apply a shimmer nude or light pink eye shadow (I suggest the shimmer nude more than the pink!). If you’re a girl that can’t get enough eye liner, try to avoid the cat eye for this look. A simple thin line will look more natural! Seal your look with a maximizing mascara and a nude, matteChelsea Crockett - Christmas Makeup lipstick.

  2. As for the makeup lovers out there (like me!), you might rather go for the bolder look. Instead of a light pink blush, use a cherry colored one! For your eyes, you can never go wrong with the smoky eye, which is definitely a statement look. The normal smoky eye colors (gray, black, white) might get boring after a while. Try incorporating holiday colors such as silver or gold! Finish off your look with a red lipstick :).

There ya go! You can pick and choose which one suits you best!

Merry Christmas! – Chelsea

Unique Christmas Goodies

Unique Christmas Goodies
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/Chelsea-Crockett-Unique-Christmas-Goodies.jpg

Nothings better than walking into the kitchen and smelling fresh pies, cookies, and everything sweet!  It’s the ultimate sign that Christmas is right around the corner.  While cookies are good and all, there are a variety of fun Christmas goodies you can whip up with your friends and family to give away as a unique gift or enjoy yourself.  Check out a few of my favorite Christmas goodies!Chelsea Crockett- caramel hot chocolate fudge

Fudge and bark are two of my favorite chocolaty treats!  Fudge is typically a lot sweeter, while bark is more like a chocolate bar with candies added.  One of my favorite holiday barks is peppermint bark with white chocolate and candy canes.  A wonderful Christmas fudge is caramel hot chocolate fudge.  It’s just like the drink!

If you love salty and sweet combined, try pretzel M&M hugs (cute, right?).  All you need is a bag of square pretzels, Hersey kisses, and the Christmas red and green M&M’s.  Place a kiss on top of each pretzel, set them in the oven at 200 degrees for 4 minutes, and then top each kiss with an M&M.  Slide the cookie sheet in the fridge to cool and you’re ready to dig in!  It’s as simple as that!

Try looking up the recipes to my favorite goodies and making them yourself!  You’ll be the family favorite!

Merry Christmas!

Christmas Funfetti Sugar Cookies

Christmas Funfetti Sugar Cookies
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/chelsea-crockett-funfetti-sugar-cookies-.jpg

I am a sucker for a soft, gooey sugar cookie. Especially when they are Christmas themed! This recipe is Chelsea Crockett tested and Chelsea Crockett approved! Here is a recipe for some fun Christmas sugar cookies that are sure to be a hit with everyone who lays eyes on them.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softenedChristmas-Funfetti-Sugar-Cookies-by-sallysbakingaddiction.com-5

  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar

  • 1 large egg, at room temperature

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

  • 1 teaspoon cream of tartar

  • 1/2 cup sprinkles, plus more for sprinkle on top before baking

In a large bowl using a hand-held mixer or stand mixer, cream the softened butter for about 1 minute on medium speed. You want it to be nice and smooth, and then add the sugar on medium speed until fluffy and light in color. Mix in egg and vanilla. Scrape down the sides as needed and then set aside the mixture.

In a medium size bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, baking powder, baking soda, and cream of tartar. With the mixer on low speed, slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients. The dough can become thick so you may need to stir them by hand. Once combined, stir in 1/2 cup sprinkles.

Scoop out large sections of dough and roll into balls. Make sure the balls are taller, rather than wide. Add a few more sprinkles on top of each dough ball. Chill the balls of dough on a cookie sheet for about 2 hours. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees and line two large cookie sheets with parchment paper. Baked the cookies for around 8 minutes. The cookies may appear not fully cooked, but once you allow them to cool they will finish baking. Remove them from the cookie sheet about 3 minutes after allowing them to cool.

These cookies are a crowd favorite! The sprinkles are such a cute added touch to your everyday sugar cookies!

My Top 3 Types of Christmas Cookies!

My Top 3 Types of Christmas Cookies!
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/Chelsea-Crockett-Christmas-Cookies.jpg

What’s a better way to celebrate the holiday season than with good food…..COOKIES that is!  My family loves spending time in the kitchen together baking all types of Christmas cookies. However, our top three choices are sugar cookies, peanut butter blossoms, and snicker doodles.

Sugar cookies are made with a super sweet, delicious dough. You can use a multitude of different cookies to make fun shapes!  Roll out the dough and make whatever shapes you have (stockings, angels, snowflakes, etc.). After baking, decorate the cookies using colored icing, sprinkles, and red hots!  Of course, my family tries to see whose iced cookie looks the best. A little friendly decorating competition is always fun!

Peanut butter blossoms are made with a dough that has a little bit of peanut butter in it. (You can get these recipes off of google anytime!)  Roll the dough into balls then roll them in sugar. After baking for a bit, pull them out of the oven and stick a Hershey’s kiss right in the middle of the cookies. Then, continue baking for a bit longer.  They are delicious and are probably eaten faster than any other cookies in the house!Chelsea Crockett - Snicker Doodles

Last, but not least, are snicker doodles!  These yummy cookies are rolled in cinnamon and sugar and baked to perfection. They have an ingredient called cream of tartar in them that makes the cookie crunchy on the outside but moist on the inside!  They’ll definitely make your mouth water.

What’s your favorite cookie to bake? Let me know below!

Happy Baking! – Chelsea

Christmas Party Attire

Christmas Party Attire
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/Chelsea-crockett-christmas-party-attire-.jpg

I love going to Christmas parties. I love eating good food, visiting with great friends and wonderful family, and most of all, dressing up! In this article I am going to give you a few outfit suggestions to help you figure out what to wear to any holiday event you may be attending.d7faca44ffbc0c5ddaf18f7d5cd36697

Casual: If you are attending a more casual Christmas party then go with something like a plaid button up, dark wash jeans, boots and boot socks, and a neutral infinity scarf!

Semi-casual: If you are going to a little bit nicer party, pair a skirt with some tights and riding boots or booties. Wear a nice sweater or blouse with the skirt and a statement necklace and chunky watch to make a statement!

Dressy: My favorite dressy outfit this winter is the sequined dress and booties outfit. Pair a sequined dress with black tights and black high heel booties! The black tights and booties balance the whole outfit out. Pair a black clutch and simple jewelry with the outfit to finish it off.

Now you will be ready for any holiday party that may come your way!

Merry Christmas!

Become A Pro At Editing Pics!

Become A Pro At Editing Pics!
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/Chelsea-Crockett-Become-A-Pro-At-Editing-Pics.jpg

Instagram is all the rage right now!  It’s almost become a sort of art work!  When it comes to the pictures themselves, making sure they’re perfectly brightened, contrasted, and cropped is key to achieving the perfect Insta pic.  Keep on reading for my greatest tips, tricks, and applications.

Afertlight is one of my favorite picture editing apps from the App Store!  Although it’s $0.99, it’s totally worth it.  You can choose between filters, brighten, contrast, saturate, add borders, and crop photos!  When brightening a photo, don’t go overboard!  If your nose or other facial features start to disappear, then you know you’ve gone a little overboard.  Brighten it enough so that you can easily view the scenery, background, or person.  Next, contrast photos that seem a little blurry or need to be sharpened.  Sometimes too much contrast can make a photo look fake, so be careful!Chelsea Crockett- Afterlight

When it comes to picking a filter, remember…less is more.  Try choosing colors that look natural, but bring out the beauty of the photo.  Trying to “make yourself look better” shouldn’t always be your goal.  Last, if desired, try adding a border to make the photo stand out or more unique.  The sky’s the limit!

Happy editing!

Self-Reflection

Self-Reflection
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/Chelsea-Crockett-Self-Reflection.jpg

The world is a busy place.  Between school, friends, family, relationships, and stress, it can be easy to lose yourself in the process of trying to balance life.  Most don’t realize how important it is to take time for yourself and love who you truly are.  Self-reflection can be done in a number of ways and can lead you down the path of a healthier lifestyle.Chelsea Crockett- loving yourself

Sometimes it can be hard to talk to people about deep issues, especially if you are trying to protect someone.  Keeping a personal journal is a great way to say whatever is on your mind without worrying about who hears it, being judged, or whether others will find out.  Another way to self-reflect is to drive to a beautiful place alone and just think.  When noise is at a minimum, you are able to sort out your thoughts more easily and come to a solid conclusion.  It’s also a great way to take a breather and enjoy the world.

My favorite way to self-reflect is through music.  Christian music, in particular, is a scape goat for my thoughts when I’m going through a rough time.  I love finding a song that relates to exactly what I’m going through.  It makes me feel like I’m not alone!

Never let the stress of life take over your mind.  If you take time for yourself, you’ll discover a happier you.

XOXO,

Chelsea

Snowman Oreo Pops

Snowman Oreo Pops
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/chelsea-crockett-snowman-oreo-pops-.jpg

Christmas time means Christmas parties, and Christmas parties mean fun snacks and activities with friends! Today I am going to show you a sweet Christmas treat that you can make with your friends and family and serve at a Christmas party! These festive treats are sure to be a crowd favorite because A, they involve Oreos and B, they are adorable!

Ingredients:christmas-treats

  • Oreos

  • Cake pop sticks

  • Vanilla almond bark for the coating

  • Orange Tic-Tacs cut in half for the nose

  • Black frosting for the eyes and mouth

1.Insert the cake pop sticks into the white filling of the Oreo.

  1. Melt the vanilla almond bark according to the instructions on the package. Hold the cookie stick over the pot and use a spoon to coat the cookie with chocolate. Don’t dip the Oreo pop into the vanilla almond bark because it will cause the cookie to fall off the stick!

  2. Place your coated cookie pops onto a baking sheet covered in wax paper to dry. Before the chocolate coating fully dries, push the orange Tic-Tac halves into the middle of the cookie. Allow the pops to cool completely before adding the eyes and mouth.

And that ‘tis it! Now you can make adorable tasty treats with your friends this Holiday season! Keep an eye out for more Christmas themed recipes!

Add all of your ingredients to the crock pot. Set the crock pot to the low setting and stir occasionally until everything is melted. Switch the temperature to warm to keep things heated up. Pros and Cons of being One of the Guys

Pros and Cons of being One of the Guys
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/chelsea-crockett-pros-and-cons-of-being-one-of-the-guys-.jpg

To some girls the thought of hanging out with a group of boys leaves them in a cold sweat. Boys? As friends? No way. That’s foreign territory. To others, having a group of guy friends is second nature and even preferable to a group of girlfriends. There are some pros and cons to being the girl that is considered “one of the guys” and we are about to explore them together.e6ac499e098b5b52d6da68acbfd284ef

Pro: No Drama. Bros tend to be drama free. Boys think of drama as a disease, they do everything to avoid it. Where there is no drama, there is a good time to be had.

Con: You are literally seen as a “bro”. Once you are considered a “guys girl”, the dudes you hang out with won’t see you as a female. Sort of. If you are looking for a relationship with one of your dude friends, you may want to reconsider your status as a “bro”. Beware of the friend zone!

Pro: Boys can be strong and intimidating. If you need someone to walk you to your car, pretend to be your boyfriend so the creeper in math class will stop bugging you, or pump your gas when it is freezing outside, it is always handy to have a bro.

Con: You might have to listen to bro talk. When hanging out with a bunch of dudes, you might have to listen to some shenanigans that only bros understand. A pro to this one is that their bro talk can sometimes be quite amusing.

Pro: Get more perspective. Once you get comfortable with a group of dudes, you can start asking them about their perspective on things. Need guy advice? Who better to ask than a guy himself?

Some girls are intimidated by guys, and that is totally understandable! They are a totally foreign species. All you have to do is be confident and be yourself around them, I promise they don’t bite.

The Gift of Giving

The Gift of Giving
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/Chelsea-Crockett-The-Gift-of-Giving.jpg

Have you ever been asked, “What is Christmas all about?” Some responses could be spending time with family or the delicious ham you get to savor for dinner! Although those are a few pluses, there couldn’t be Christmas without Jesus. That being said, the Bible talks a lot about giving, such as God giving His only son to die for our sins. This is something we can all put into action this holiday season!

I recently found a quote on Pinterest that says “There are those who give with joy, and that joy is their reward.” Personally I find more joy in giving than receiving! Whether you’re doing a gift exchange with friends or giving your mom a present Christmas morning, it’s impossible not to get a smile on your face! Now I’m not saying that receiving isn’t nice… Getting a gift (especially one off of your wish list!) is never a time to complain, but giving someone a present is one hundred times more satisfying!Chelsea Crockett - Give

I know for me, the simple thought behind a gift already makes it good no matter what might be under the wrapping paper. Not everyone has the money to go out and buy ten $50 gifts. Not every present has to be expensive! Homemade or DIY gifts are even more meaningful than just buying a shirt or gift card (and it won’t break the bank!).

Tis’ the season for giving, and you shouldn’t miss out! If you give this holiday, I promise your joy will be greatly multiplied!

“Let us remember that the Christmas heart is a giving heart, a wide open heart that thinks of others first.”

Love, Chelsea

Anti-Smoking... Resisting the Temptation

Anti-Smoking... Resisting the Temptation
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/Chelsea-Crockett-Anti-Smoking.jpg

If you’re ever caught in a sticky situation, saying no is one of the hardest things to do. Whether it’s smoking, drinking, or any other temptation, peer pressure is most likely involved. One of the biggest problems high school has always faced and still faces today is smoking. Although you might get caught in a tough circumstance, there is always a way to get out! Here are some useful tips:

  • Don’t hang out with the wrong crowd! I know, it’s easier said than done… but surrounding yourself with people who have the same morals as you is a lot more enjoyable! It’s extremely easy to fall into temptations when you’re surrounded by anything and everything you’re trying to avoid.

  • Think of the risks. Smoking brings so many risks and consequences to the table. Both with health and beauty! Did you know smoking actually increases your chance of cancer by 13 times?  It also reduces your life 11 minutes every time you smoke one cigarette!  It’s too big of a risk especially at such a young age!Chelsea Crockett - Smoking

  • Encourage others to quit! If you grow up in a family with a history of smokers, getting them to quit is a good way to push the temptation away for good. It’s hard not to try it when you’re surrounded by it 24/7. It not only pays off for you, but for your parents/siblings, too!

Whether you’ve faced this problem or have yet to go through it, I hope these tips give you some confidence in turning the other way.

I wish you all the best of luck! – Chelsea

Red Velvet Gooey Butter Cookies

Red Velvet Gooey Butter Cookies
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/Chelsea-crockett-red-velvet-gooey-butter-cookies.jpg

Red velvet flavored items are super popular around Christmas time. They look festive and they taste AMAZING! Red velvet cookies are great to make for holiday parties or get-togethers! Here is how to make super delicious red velvet gooey butter cookies.

Ingredients:

  • 2¼ cups flourRed-Velvet-Crinkle-Cookies-3

  • 2 cups sugar

  • 2 Tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder

  • 2 teaspoons baking powder

  • ¼ teaspoon salt

  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened

  • 4 Tablespoons butter, softened

  • 1 egg

  • 1 Tablespoon red liquid food coloring

  • ½ cup powdered sugar

In a medium bowl, combine the flower, coca, sugar, baking powder and salt and set aside. In a large bowl mix the butter and cream cheese together until smooth. Beat in the egg and food coloring.

Add the dry ingredients to the cream cheese and butter mixture and mix until dough forms. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let it chill in the fridge for about 2 hours.

When you are ready to bake preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Place powdered sugar in a small bowl and roll 1 inch balls of dough in the powdered sugar. Once you have rolled the balls of dough in powdered sugar place them on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake the cookies at 350 degrees for about 10-12 minutes and let the cookies cool completely on a cooling rack.

There you have it! Now you have delicious red velvet cookies that everyone will love.

Christmas Pretzel Bites

Christmas Pretzel Bites
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/chelsea-crockett-christmas-pretzel-bites.jpg

I have a few Christmas parties coming up and I have been wracking my brain trying to think of fun activities to do at the parties and fun foods to serve!holiday-pretzel-treats-christmas-recipe-photo-420-FF0105ALMFA02

Ingredients:

  • Circle or square shaped pretzels

  • Hershey’s Kisses, whatever kind you want! I prefer the caramel filled ones.

  • Red and green M&Ms

Preheat your oven to 250 degrees. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper and align your pretzels on the sheet. Unwrap your Hersey’s Kisses and place one on each pretzel. Stick the cookie sheet in the oven until the Kiss begins to melt down (about 4 minutes or so).

Have your M&Ms ready for when the pretzels get out of the oven. Remove the pretzels from the oven and gently press an M&M down on each one. The Kisses should flatten out when you press the M&M on it.  Let the pretzel bites cool completely and let them sit in the fridge for about 10 minutes. These are great little snacks for any holiday gathering! Easy to pop in your mouth and super festive.

Enjoy!

XOXO, Chels

Peppermint Oreo Truffles

Peppermint Oreo Truffles
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/Chelsea-Crockett-Peppermint-Oreo-Truffles.jpg

I have to admit, Oreos might be one of my favorite sweet treats of all time.  Once you’ve had one, it’s hard to quit!  Around the holiday times, I love mixing together peppermint and Oreos to create peppermint Oreo truffles.  They’re the perfect Christmas treat that everyone will love!  Find out what you need to create your family’s new favorite dessert.

Peppermint Oreo Truffles

  • 1 package of Oreos (36 cookies)

  • 8 oz. of softened cream cheese

  • 1 tsp. of peppermint extract

  • 16 oz. of vanilla almond bark or candy melts

  • ¼ cup of crushed candy canes

  • Wax paper

  • Cookie sheet

Begin by placing the Oreos in a large zip-lock bag and crushing them until they are fine.  You can do this by pounding them with your hands or using a rolling pin.  Next, mix together the softened cream cheese and peppermint extract, and then add that to the crushed Oreos in a large mixing bowl.  Mix together.  Once the mixture forms a dough, mold together 1 inch balls and place them on a cookie sheet with wax paper.  Place the balls in the freezer for 10 minutes.Chelsea Crockett- crushing Oreos

While the Oreo truffles are hardening, begin making the outside layer by melting the vanilla almond bark (see package for directions).  Once the 10 minutes is up, dip each ball into the almond bark and place them back on the wax paper cookie sheet.  Top each truffle off with some crushed candy canes, place in the fridge, and get prepared to dig in!

Enjoy!

Top Unknown Damage to Your Hair

Top Unknown Damage to Your Hair
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/Chelsea-Crockett-split-ends.jpg

Obvious actions like drying and straightening your hair can cause damage and split ends, but did you know there are a lot of other unknown ways that you’re damaging your hair?  Surprisingly, there are multiple actions that seem harmless, but can cause permanent damage to your hair.  Being aware of these things are extremely important.  I will break down a few of the most unhealthy hair habits to give you your most healthy hair yet.Chelsea Crockett- damaged hair

  • Be gentle when you brush wet hair.  Brushing through wet hair can cause damage and split ends.  It can also pull out a lot of hair, causing a loss in volume.  Start at the bottom with a wide-toothed comb and work your way to the scalp.  This will help prevent breakage and hair loss.

  • Don’t wash your hair too much!  Shampooing your hair can too often can wash away your hair’s natural moisture.  This moisture gives your hair that healthy, shiny look!  You don’t want to wash that away!

  • Ponytails create breakage.  Wearing a ponytail is always a cute and easy hair style, but wearing one every day with a tight pony tail holder can cause breakage.  This can even cause permanent damage!

Don’t commit one of these hair crimes!

Travel In Style

Travel In Style
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/80713018292143726O421OP4Vc2.jpg

Since I am traveling to and from New York this next month, I thought these travel tips would be great to share! Today I am going to help you master the art of traveling with style. It is a tricky talent to tackle, but we will get through it together.  The best advice I can give you is to dress in layers.  This way if you get hot or cold on the airplane or in the car you can just peel of a layer and still be looking cute. Another big bit of advice is to wear shoes that are easy to take off, and that are super comfortable to walk in. They need to be easy to take off so you don’t get caught up in the security line trying to hassle with your shoes. There’s always that girl who wears the boots with 12 million buckles and laces and takes 20 minutes just to take her shoes off at the security checkpoint. Don’t be that girl! Also, if you are traveling by car, wearing shoes that are easy to take off is a must so that you can remove them while riding in the car, but then slip them back on when you stop for food or at a rest stop.

Now what you wear also depends on the climate of your destination and the climate at your starting place. If you are starting out in a warm climate and traveling to a cold climate, then you are going to want to wear something very versatile. On your way to the airport and at the airport you can be wearing blue jeans and a v-neck with a neutral tank underneath. Then once you reach your frigid destination you can pull on a sweater over your shirt and then pair a cute coat over that and you are good to go! Another option is to start out with your jeans rolled up as capris, and then when you land you can roll them down. If you are driving the same rules apply!36ad7cf18115437fbfcf13f910cacf56

If you are traveling from cold to warm I also recommend dressing in layers. While at your starting point you can wear a pair of warm leggings with a warm oversized sweater and cozy booties. Under the sweater you can layer a stylish v-neck and cozy tank. Once you get to your destination you can pull off your sweater and be ready to go!80713018292143726O421OP4Vc

When you are traveling from cold climates to cold climates or warm climates to warm climates it is much easier to choose what to wear. Just keep it cozy! Have a blast, wherever your whereabouts may take you.

Safe travels!

How to Wear (And Pull Off) Matte Makeup

How to Wear (And Pull Off) Matte Makeup
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/Chelsea-Crockett-How-to-Wear-And-Pull-Off-Matte-Makeup.png

Some may think the secret to flawless makeup is an expensive, personal makeup artist.  Actually, the secret to flawless makeup is matte based products!  Matte foundation almost eliminates pores and leaves your skin looking smooth.  Lipstick, blush, and eye shadow also come in matte formats and have the same effect as matte foundation.  Check out how you can wear, and pull off, matte makeup the right way!Chelsea Crockett- matte makeup

Unlike typical foundation, matte foundation is best applied using a damp sponge.  This helps evenly distribute the foundation, especially around the nose and chin area. The secret to wearing matte makeup is to either wear it on your eyes and lips or on your face, NOT both.  In order to make the look more modern, try pairing a matte foundation with a shimmery eye and lip gloss.  Likewise, use a powder or liquid foundation if you’re feeling matte lipstick.

Matte makeup is making a comeback from the old Hollywood glamour days!  Give it a try and comment below which matte products are your favorites!

Love,

Chelsea

After I work out, I know that it is so important to eat protein to build my muscles back up. Sometimes, protein smoothies can taste just about as good as cardboard. Have no fear, my java lovers. Here is the recipe for an iced coffee protein smoothie that will knock your socks off!

chelsea crockett

  • 1 cup Iced Coffee Almond Milk

  • 1 frozen banana

  • 2 scoops protein powder of choice

  1. Blend together.

  2. Enjoy!

Next time you work out and you need me a pick-me-up, mix one of these babies up! It will fill your tummy so that you don’t feel like snacking 24/7. Wouldn’t that be nice?! I am SO looking forward to mixing one of these up next time I work out. Try this out and comment below!

DIY Bedroom Projects

DIY Bedroom Projects
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/Chelsea-Crockett-bedroom.jpg

Bored of your bedroom, but don’t have enough money or time to re-do the whole thing?  Try a DIY makeover!  There are so many fun and simple projects you can do alone, with your friends, or with your family to makeover your room.  With a few little tweaks, it can look like you have a brand new room.  Let’s get at it!Chelsea Crockett- bulletin board

One of my favorite things to have in my room is lots and lots of pictures!  So what do you do when you have hundreds of pictures and nowhere to put them?  Create a wall sized bulletin board!  You’ll need some help with this one.  Start with a large piece of thin, light wood, you can find this at any home improvements store.  Next, purchase multiple square blocks of thin bulletin board and cover each one with a different type of material that matches your bedroom.  Place each square on the light wood and hot glue them down.  Make them nice and sturdy!  Last, add a fun border, another item you can purchase for cheap at a home improvements store.  Hang it up on your wall and add as many pictures as you’d like with tacks.  All done!

An easier way to change up your room is to add light!  Lighting makes all the difference in a room.  Go to a resell-it-shop or garage sell and find old lamps.  Spray paint the base of each lamp and add a new shade.  It’s so simple.  Not only will your room be brighter, but it will be filled with colorful accessory lighting.

Have fun,

Chelsea

Get Your Life Back On Track!

Get Your Life Back On Track!
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/Chelsea-Crockett-life.jpg

Life can get pretty crazy at times and it’s easy to lose yourself amongst all of the chaos.  Unfortunately, too many people let themselves get more and more out of hand instead of doing something about it!  Whether it’s in a relationship, with your group of friends, school, work, or your home life, taking control of your life is very important. Chelsea Crockett- stay off social media

Staying off social media for a while can be a healthy cleanse for the mind.  Between Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc., it’s so easy to get caught up in all the drama.  Try deleting the apps from your phone making it easier to stay away from them.  It’s important to tune into the real world and focus on what’s really going on in life.  Another great way to get your life back in order is to be honest.  When something is bothering, don’t hold all that frustration in.  Talk to others about what is going on.  It’s better to get your feelings out than to hold a grudge.

When it comes to school and work, the best way to stay sane is to be organized.  Write everything down, keep a planner, and do not hesitate to ask questions.  Too many people are afraid to ask their boss or teacher questions to point them in the right direction.  DON’T!  It’ll make your life so much easier!

You’re the boss of your life, so make changes that’ll make yourself happy!

I love you all!

Chelsea
