Spice Up Your Hair Color!

Spice Up Your Hair Color!
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/Chelsea-Crockett-colored-hair.jpg

Do you ever get sick of your hair color?  I know I do!  Of course I’ll never do anything dramatic like dye my hair blonde, but adding a hint of color is a great way to spice up your look.  Some colors are more daring than others, but in the end a slight change in color is all you need!

If you’re sick of your blonde hair, there are two really great options to change up your blonde hair color.  If you want to go lighter, try icy blonde highlights.  The highlights will add to your natural color without making your hair look too blonde, or worse…white!  If you’re looking to go darker without going brunette, adding honey highlights will do the trick!  You could even try going strawberry blonde for a more daring look.

Brunettes have a lot of options when it comes to changing up their hair color.  Adding dark or light brown highlights is an easy transition to a different shade of brown.  If you’re looking for a more daring color, try adding dark red or plum undertones to your hair.  The change won’t be too dramatic, but the colors will really stand out in the light! Chelsea Crockett- red hair When it comes to black hair, there isn’t much that can be changed; but if you want to try something really different try adding blue undertones to your hair.  This will make your black hair appear softer, but have an edge to it.

I do not recommend dying your hair on your own.  Go to a trusted salon for any of your hair color desires and talk to your parents first!

XOXO,

Chelsea

Rock your School Spirit Wear Outside of School!

Rock your School Spirit Wear Outside of School!
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/Chelsea-Crockett-school-logos.png

Hello lovelies,

Between football games, school spirit week, and multiple volunteer opportunities, you’re destined to have over 100 shirts, hoodies, or sweatpants advertising your school logo.  So what do you do with all of this school spirit wear? Well no need to fret, it’s cool to rep your school!  Don’t feel weird rocking a school hoodie with your mascot on it.  Embrace it!  Here are a few simple tips to styling your school spirit wear when you’re not at school.Chelsea Crockett- school spirit wear

It’s okay to alter your shirts and sweatshirts, as long as your parents don’t mind.  Since the crop trend is totally in, why not bring it to school spirit wear?!  Try cutting the bottom of a crewneck sweatshirt and wearing it with high-waisted jean shorts.  If you really want to wear your favorite pair of spirit sweatpants, add a simple v-neck and, as long as they are straight-legged, a pair of high-heeled Nike shoes.  If your sweatpants are extra-long, try tucking them into your shoes.  Although it might sound a little wacky, the heel of the tennis shoe will add a special element to the comfy outfit.

In the winter, a cute way to rock a school tee is with an oversized cardigan and leggings.  Pair this look with riding boots, and you’ve got the simplest outfit in history; and it’s cute!  Don’t be afraid to add a simple necklace or ring to spice the look up.  School logo tanks are the easiest to style.  Throw it on with high-waisted shorts or a skirt with your choice of shoes and you’re good to go!  It’s easy to fill your closet up with school spirit wear, especially when you get some of it for free!  Don’t let it sit around; incorporate it into your everyday wardrobe.

Have a wonderful day!

The Power of Being Positive

The Power of Being Positive
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/Chelsea-Crockett-Positivity.jpg

Winston Churchill once said, “Attitude is a little thing that makes a BIG difference.”   When you think about that…it is so true!   A negative attitude can be power draining.   A positive attitude, on the other hand, can help you enjoy a happy and fulfilling life.  It can put you in a good position with others.  No one wants to be around someone that is always complaining and fault finding.Chelsea Crockett - Power in Positivity

All of us need to change our attitude at times and all that takes is changing the way we think!  When the going gets tough…just realizing that this too shall pass and just saying  “Oh well”….can really help us to keep things in perspective.  Try not to make a mountain out of a molehill.

Most importantly, stay in touch with God.  He’s the One who sees the big picture and orchestrates everything around us.  Make your time with Him an important part of your daily schedule.  Do your best to communicate with Him through prayer, reading your Bible and worship.   Do your best to be a positive person.   The more positive you are….the more powerful you are!

XOXO-

DIY Starbucks Iced Caramel Latte

DIY Starbucks Iced Caramel Latte
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/Chelsea-Crockett-Starbucks.jpg

Starbucks.

Do I have your attention? I thought I might ;) Starbucks is one of my passions. The only problem with this is that my wallet does not appreciate my love for this costly coffee. Here is a DIY recipe for the Starbucks Iced Caramel Latte!

Ingredients:

6a011570d5e4a9970c0134898c29db970c

½ cup strongly brewed coffee

1 cup milk

3-4 teaspoons caramel sauce, depending on sweetness preference

6 large ice cubes

1. Chill the coffee in your fridge or freezer until it is room temperature. If you want to drink your coffee asap, leave it in the freezer for 15 minutes.

2. Stir the caramel sauce into the milk. Use a whisk to beat the caramel and milk together rapidly until foamy.

3. Pour the caramel milk into the chilled coffee right after you beat it. Add your ice and enjoy!

If you speak Starbucks language, this recipe will make you a venti size cup of coffee. Not only is this recipe super easy to do, it is also easy on your wallet. America pretty much runs on coffee, and I am no exception! Whenever I need a little pep in my step, this recipe comes in handy.

Enjoy lovely ladies!

XOXO, Chels

How you use it:

Mix ½ hydrogen peroxide with ½ mouthwash mixture. Swish the mixture around in your mouth for a minute and rinse. Then brush your teeth with the toothpaste and baking soda mixture. To do this mix a bit of toothpaste with 1 teaspoon of baking soda plus half a teaspoon of water. Mix this thoroughly until it is the consistency of paste. Brush your teeth with the mixture. Now do not use this mixture every day! Only use this once a week at most because of the acidity of the peroxide. Now get ready for a bright, brilliant white smile!

Fashion Hacks Every Girl Needs to Know!

Fashion Hacks Every Girl Needs to Know!
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/Chelsea-Crockett-Fashion-Hacks.jpg

Everybody wants in on all things quicker and cheaper. Whether it’s easy beauty fixes or affordable DIY shorts, we want to hear it! I’ve discovered a few fashion hacks that work well and don’t empty your wallet!Chelsea Crockett - Closet Rack

  • Rub a pair of jeans on your shirt to get rid of deodorant stains. It’s definitely not the first thing you think of to get rid of stains! Make sure you use an older pair of jeans that won’t rub any color off on your shirt. It’s as simple as that!

  • We’ve all had that day where our moms ask us to get rid of any clothes we don’t wear anymore. Then we find ourselves frantically searching for any clothes to throw out! Here’s a tip: turn all of your hangers a certain way. Then, whenever you put something back in your closet, switch the hanger the opposite way. After a certain amount of time, you can see which clothes you’ve actually worn lately! Problem solved!

  • If you’ve ever sat on your bed untangling a necklace for half an hour, this tip’s for you! You’ll need to buy a box of tiny zip-lock bags and something to keep your jewelry in (jewelry box, sectioned container, etc.) Then, take each piece of jewelry and place them in a separate bag. You can organize the bags in several different ways such as by necklaces, bracelets, and earrings or by how casual to how dressy each piece is… however you think it will be easiest to keep organized!

Do you know of any other creative fashion hacks? Share below!

How to Lose Weight without Trying

How to Lose Weight without Trying
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/chelsea-crockett-how-to-lose-weight-without-trying-.jpg

Losing weight doesn’t have to be a huge hassle! It isn’t ALL about sweating your booty off on the treadmill. There are a few simple ways to shed a few pounds that don’t require you to count calories. Here they are!

  1. Always start your meal with a glass of water: This ensures that you stay hydrated and feel fuller right away, which keeps you from overeating!

  2. Control your portions: If you are aiming to lose weight, keeping your portions in check is a must. Use a smaller plate andworkout-to-lose-weight fill it up, that way it will trick your mind into thinking you have more food than you actually do, and it will also keep your portions small. Also, don’t go back for seconds!

  3. Make simple swaps: Instead of ranch dressing, try a vinaigrette and save 80 calories! Opt for fresh fruit instead of dry and save a ton as well!

  4. Move more: If you don’t have time to get a workout in, take the stairs instead of the elevator or park a little further away from the school entrance!

  5. Eat a early, light dinner: Eating too much too late can cause digestion and sleep issues that make it hard to stick to a healthy routine. You need to eat at least 2-3 hours before bed.

Dieting is SO not fun. Making these small changes makes losing weight an achievable goal!

Running Low on Sleep? Look Awake!

Running Low on Sleep? Look Awake!
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/Chelsea-Crockett-Look-Awake.jpg

Wake up, go to school, eat, sleep, repeat.  Sound familiar?  The school week can be exhausting!   Although it’s only 5 days, it can feel like a lifetime!  I put together a few tips to help you look awake when you’re running low on sleep.  As a high school student myself, these tips can be a lifesaver!

The biggest struggle after rolling out of bed is figuring out how to cover the dark circles formed under your eyes.  Such a pain!  Although there are ways to prevent them, such Chelsea Crockett - Too Faced Concealeras eye creams, drinking lots of water, and reducing stress, you can’t always find time to keep up.  With that being said, concealer is the most obvious way to go.  One of my favorites is the Absolutely Flawless Concealer by Too Faced.  Click here to check it out!

Another option is to grab a quick coffee on your way to school.  If you feel awake, you look awake!  A little caffeine doesn’t hurt and can serve as a little pick-me-up before starting the day.  Try to avoid huge energy drinks and quick energy fixes.  They’ll give you the energy you want but will lead to crashing later in the day!

Did you know that having a positive mindset can change your entire attitude towards the day?  So what you might be a little tired… count the positives!  I know whenever I have a better mindset I feel happier and more thankful about the day.  This will change your tired and sluggish mood to a brighter, more upbeat attitude!  Give it a try :)!

Love, Chelsea

How to Style a Plaid Shirt

How to Style a Plaid Shirt
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/chelsea-crockett-style-a-plaid-shirt.jpg

Do you have a plaid shirt hiding in a dusty corner of your closet? Do you refrain from wearing it for fear that you will look like a lumber jack if you wear it? Well have no fear, I have a few ways that you can wear that adorable plaid without shame!

  1. One way to style a plaid shirt is to pair it with black skinny jeans, a brown belt, nude infinity scarf, brown riding boots, tumblr_maytzfVKvb1rhctcso1_250and pearl earrings. This look is cute and casual and can be worn to school or out and about with friends!

  2. The second look pairs your plaid shirt with a navy vest, white skinny jeans, and tan booties. This look is a little dressier, but can still be worn just about anywhere! I love navy vests, so this outfit is one of my faves!

  3. Now for the dressier option. Wear your plaid button-up under a white cable knit scarf and a leather tulip skirt. If you live in an area where it gets really cold, just toss on a pair of black tights under the skirt to keep your legs nice and toasty! Who knew you could dress plaid up?!

See? You can proudly wear plaid this season! I know I will be.

Kimono Craze

Kimono Craze
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/Kimono-Craze.jpg

When you see the word “kimono” I think of Mulan and all that jazz. What I didn’t imagine was the modern take on the kimono! I ran across this adorable trend while scrolling through Pinterest. Here are a few ways that you can conquer the kimono craze:

  1. With a crop top and shorts: Although you will not be able to rock this look for very much longer because cooler weather iskimono 2 upon us, you can always whip this outfit out on those last warm days of fall. Or just keep this cute boho look in the back of your mind for next summer!

  2. Tall boots, tights, shorts and tank: This look is super layered and super chic. Wear dark shorts, tights and boots with a white loose shirt, then pair a patterned kimono over the top to add character to the look.

  3. Ripped jeans and ankle boots: This is a casual, everyday take on the kimono. I would totally wear this look to school.

Who knew that kimonos could be so darn cute?! I’m heading to Forever 21 to grab one ASAP! This will totally make my fall wardrobe complete.

XOXO, Chels

Chelsea Crockett- Arizona Sleeveless Floral Lace DressWith fall just around the corner, it’s important for us girls to step up our fall fashion game!  Arizona Jeans, sold at JC Penney, has all the perfect wardrobe essentials to have a perfect outfit every day!  Not to mention, the prices are great!!  Let’s break down my Arizona Jeans fall favorite items to create the perfect outfit.

An oversized cardigan is my number one must for fall.  The Arizona Oversized Cardigan can turn any summer dress into a fall dress and is a great replacement for a jacket.  It’s so easy to throw on with a tank or tee and can even be dressed up!  Having one in a basic color, like tan, cream, or black, goes a long way!  The perfect dress to pair with an oversized cardigan with is the Arizona Sleeveless Floral Lace Dress.  I wore this dress while attending SocialCon and absolutely loved it!  It’s so comfy and cute and looks great with a sweater.  Its dark teal shade is perfect for fall and the flowers make the dress extra girly!

My last favorite fall essential is the Arizona Denim Tunic.  It’s the perfect shirt for layering with a vest or pairing alone with a chunky necklace.  It’s a very light denim, so it can be paired with dark denim or colored skinny’s!

Have fun putting together a fashion forward wardrobe!

Makeup Mistakes That Make You Look Older

Makeup Mistakes That Make You Look Older
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/Chelsea-Crockett-makeup-mistakes-that-make-you-look-older.jpg

When you put on makeup, you want to look your best! You always want to feel young and lively, but what if your makeup makes you look the complete opposite?!  Makeup applications that people do every day can actually make you look years older than you are!  Find out how to avoid these mistakes to have the best makeup look possible!Chelsea Crockett- too much bottom eye liner

  • Thick, heavy black eyeliner can make your eyes pop! But in reality, most people do not apply it correctly. When black eyeliner is placed heavy on the bottom lid, it can make you look like you have darker bags under your eyes than usual.

  • Purchasing the right foundation is crucial. If you apply a thick layer of matte foundation to every inch of your face, it will start to settle into fine lines. Instead, try powder or a sheer liquid foundation. Only use it in the necessary areas.

  • If you have small lips, stay away from dark lip colors. Dark colors make surface area look smaller. For fuller looking lips try a pink or peach color.

  • Light reflects off skin for a luminous glow. If you wear too much powder, your face will not catch the light and your skin will look matte.

  • Never skip blush! Adding a small pink tint to your cheeks instantly brightens your face and makes you look younger!

Trying using these age defying tips next time you apply makeup!

Love you Insiders!

Best Homecoming Hair for your Face Shape

Best Homecoming Hair for your Face Shape
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/chelsea-crockett-Best-Homecoming-Hair-for-your-Face-Shape-.jpg

Believe it or not, homecoming is just around the corner! You’ve got a lot of preparation to get to! There are so many things to think about: the dress, the group your going with, your DATE, where your going to take pictures…the last thing you want to be worrying about is your hair! I am here to help you pick out your perfect homecoming hair style, because you’ve got enough to worry about as it is!

  1. Heart shaped face: Ladies with this face shape have a broad forehead and then their face starts to taper from the cheeks photo (7)and jaw line down to the chin. I have this face shape! Since the lower part of the face is narrower compared to the upper portion, you want to draw attention to the lower part of the face. The best hair-do to help you achieve this goal is the half-up half-down look. Curl all of your hair and then pull the upper part towards the crown back while the rest falls gently around your shoulders.

  2. Round face: For my round faced babes, your goal should be to take attention away from the cheeks and ears. This will make your face not look wider than it really is! One way to do this is to draw attention up and elongate your face. A hair style that helps you do this is an intricate bun or sleek high pony tail. Never under estimate the impact of a strategically placed pony tail.

  3. Narrow or oval face: You lucky ducks have it made. The shape of your face is ideal because the proportions are just right. Truth is, you can do just about anything to your hair. The updoo that will highlight your beautifully shaped face is to pull all of your hair back into a bun. You can leave some loose wispy hairs down to give you a more wistful look if you prefer.

I hope this helps you choose which homecoming hair style is right for you! I am sure you will look gorgeous no matter what style you choose.

XOXO, Chels

Your skin doesn’t know how expensive something is. What matters is what’s inside the product and how your skin reacts.  So are fancy acne cleansing products really worth it, or are drug store brands good enough?  Keep on reading for the final verdict!Chelsea Crockett- gel based moisturizer

When it comes to a cleaner, the most important ingredient is salicylic acid. This exfoliates and unclogs pores to keep acne causing bacteria from getting under your skin.  As long as the cleaner contains this ingredient, then skip out on the expensive cleaner!  Masks are a different story.  Applying a really good clay face mask once a week for a deep cleanse is vital for clearer skin.  If you’ve got a little extra money to spend, then try a fancy clay mask!

Keep the money in your wallet for moisturizer! Try finding a brand with a gel based moisturizer.  As long as you’ve found one with a gel base, it will work just as well as any high-priced application.  Spot treatments are one to splurge one!  When you need a blemish to go away fast, you want a trusted brand!  Good spot treatments get rid of inflammation and bacteria causing the zit in the first place!  When you spend the money, the blemish will be gone in a flash!

XOXO,

Chelsea

The Perfect Messy Bun

The Perfect Messy Bun
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/Chelsea-Crockett-the-perfect-messy-bun.jpg

When it comes to hair, you normally don’t think of the words “perfect” and “messy” in the same sentences. Well, a messy bun is the perfect hair for a lazy day when you’re still trying to look good!  Although it looks effortless, it actually takes a little skill to achieve the perfect messy bun.Chelsea Crockett- messy bun

Start by teasing your hair, even at the roots, to create texture. You can add moose to make your hair coarser.  Once your hair is teased and feels full, pull it in a high ponytail and start twisting it.  Once it is in a lose twist, start coiling it around your head to create a bun.  Loosely secure the bun with a ponytail holder and then tightly secure it with bobby pins.  Lastly, pull pieces of hair around your face out of the bun to make it look messier.  You can even move your fingers through your scalp and the bun to make more pieces fall out.  Remember, this bun is perfectly “un-perfect”.  Finish off with some hairspray and voilà!

Now that your perfect messy bun is complete you are ready to go! I hope this simple tutorial helps you achieve this look a little easier!

Love you all,

Chelsea

3 Go-To Homecoming Hairstyles

3 Go-To Homecoming Hairstyles
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/Chelsea-Crockett-3-Go-To-Homecoming-Hairstyles.png

For homecoming, us girls don’t only need a stunning dress and a fancy pair of heels, but a gorgeous hairstyle, as well! For prom, I usually like to go to a salon and have my hair fixed, but for homecoming, I like to try new ideas that I can style myself.  So… I decided to put together a few of my favorite looks.Chelsea Crockett - Loose Curls

If you have long hair, you might want to try some beachy waves with a wand! Take half of your hair in the front and pin it back with bobby pins. Be sure to tease the upper portion of the back of your hair. Make sure your waves are messy yet dressy like the style on the right!

Another look for medium to long hair is a lower messy bun.  You can leave some pieces out to frame around your face.  Tease the back of your hair slightly and wrap the hair into a messy bun.  I love to google images of messy buns and then reenact them on my own hair.  You can also find tutorials all over the internet to help you get just the right look!

For those of you with super short hair, headbands are really in and fun to add to your look. They can be casual or elegant.  Be sure to shop for a headband that matches your dress. They’re stylish and let you do something fun with your hair!

Whatever your look is, enjoy your evening!  High school goes by so quickly….make the most of it!

Guide to Gorgeous Fall Lips!

Guide to Gorgeous Fall Lips!
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/Chelsea-Crockett-Gorgeous-Fall-Lips.jpg

When seasons change, so do wardrobes… and when wardrobes change, you have to adjust what colors make your autumn looks pop! Along with cute accessories and a stylish pair of boots, you have to make sure your makeup works to complete your outfit. The perfect way to do that is with a good lipstick to top off your full appearance!

Because bright lipsticks are always a yes, whenever you have the excuse to wear one, DO! Since fall is the time to rock your oranges, don’t be afraid to. For a nice dinner or a Halloween party, break out the orange. If you can pull off the dark red lips, try them out as well! You can’t go wrong with a little bit of color :)!Chelsea Crockett - Orange Lipsticks

Although a pop of color is fun every once and a while, toning it down with neutral shades is gorgeous yet casual. My favorite look is topping a light pink lipstick with gloss. Apply your lipstick then grab a clear gloss that’ll add some shine to your lips! (Beauty secret: add some white eye shadow or concealer to the middle crease above your upper lip. Then apply your lipstick/gloss. It makes your lips look bigger and plumper!)

Tweet me your favorite shades to rock during the fall so I can try them out :)!

Hair Myths Uncovered

Hair Myths Uncovered
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/Chelsea-Crockett-hair-myths-uncovered.jpg

We’ve all heard those crazy myths about ways to make your hair shinier, grow longer, and how to get rid of those pesky split ends.   But how many of those myths that you read are actually true?  It’s time to find out what’s true and what’s false.

  • Wearing tight ponytails can make your hair fall out or break. TRUE. Strands may break off as a result of your hair being pulled tight or held too tightly with aChelsea Crockett- tight ponytail band. To decrease your chances, do not sleep with your hair up or wear it in a ponytail every day.

  • Cold water makes your hair shinier. FALSE. Your hair does not contain living cells; therefore it cannot react to certain water temperatures.

  • Using the same shampoo repeatedly will cause it to stop working. FALSE. Since it can be hard to find a shampoo that works for your hair type and texture, once you’ve found the one that works, then why change it?! Try a new shampoo for the sake of it will most likely not benefit your hair.

  • Always use a wide-tooth comb for wet hair. TRUE. Using this type of comb will reduce breakage after you get out of the shower. Since wet hair tends to have more tangles, a wide-toothed comb will keep your hair from breaking.

Your hair is very important and knowing what’s best for it is even better!

Why I"m Looking Forward to Fall

Why I"m Looking Forward to Fall
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/chelsea-crockett-why-im-looking-forward-to-fall.jpg

It’s almost fall, y’all! I am SO looking forward to fall. There are a ton of reasons why I am counting down the days until this s’mores filled, bonfire-going season is upon us, and here they are!

  1. HOT CHOCOLATE: Need I say more? There are so many kinds of hot chocolate, too. I especially love peppermint hot chocolate!

  2. Cuddling with blankets bc no bae: Or cuddling with my dogs. Who needs a bae when you have three adorable pups?pumpkin-patch-1

  3. Pumpkin picking with frands: A super fun thing to do with your friends in the fall is pumpkin picking! If you and your friends are ever bored and out of ideas of things to do during the fall, pumpkin picking is your solution. You can even carve your pumpkins together after you pick them!

  4. The smells: AKA PUMPKIN SPICE: Pumpkin spice candle, pumpkin spice lattes, pumpkin spice cookies, pumpkin spice pancakes, the whole shebang! The smell is so comforting and just makes me feel so happy! And so ready for Thanksgiving!

  5. Chilly weather: Chilly, but not freezing. Like, boots scarf and a light jacket. Perf.

Why are YOU looking forward to fall? Comment below and let me know!

Wash Your Face…The RIGHT Way

Wash Your Face…The RIGHT Way
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/Chelsea-Crockett-washing-face.jpg

Hi Insiders,

So you wash your face twice a day right?  Your skin looks and feels clean, but you get the occasional acne.  Unfortunately, most teens are not washing their face the right way leaving behind tons of dirt and oil.  Follow a few of my simple tips to have your cleanest and brightest skin yet.Chelsea Crockett- makeup cloths

  • It’s easy to rush through a face wash, especially when you’re in a rush or just want to go to bed.  Although it may be hard, take your time!!  Spend a few minutes really rubbing in the cleaner to your skin.  You have a days’ worth of dirt and oil on your skin, so spend more than a few seconds!

  • While washing your face, use lukewarm water.  Too hot of water can cause dry skin.

  • Don’t overuse makeup wipes!  These wipes are meant for short time use, like quickly reapplying makeup or wiping off the sweat from the gym.  Be sure to follow up with water and soap.  Makeup wipes can’t remove everything by themselves.

  • Moisturize!  It’s so important to moisturize to avoid dry skin.  Moisturizing at night is the most important, since your skin has a lot of time to soak in all of the nutrients.

  • Be gentle!  A lot of people think the best way to clean your face is with a harsh scrub or pressure with a wash cloth.  These things can irritate the skin and cause redness.  Only use these methods a couple times a week.

Love your skin and treat it properly!

Beauty Fads You Should Be Trying NOW!

Hello beauty gurus!

Lip gloss can be sticky and lip stick can fade easily.  Luckily, there is a solution, lip stains!  Lip stains are going to be really popular this year with its long lasting wear and bright pop of colors.  Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics has come out with a lip stain called lip tar that you squeeze onto your lip and smooth out with a brush.  After apply, try kissing your hand.  The color won’t come off!

Urban Decay’s Naked palettes have been a hit and their new Naked 3 palette isn’t anything short of amazing.  This new palette is full of dark browns and rosy pinks to bring you into spring.  It’s great for mixing colors and creating a more subtle smoky eye.  My last favorite product is the Dr. Jart+ water infused hydration gel mask.  This mask comes in a single use pouchChelsea Crockett- Dr. Jart Hydromask and adds moisture to dry winter skin.  Made with 60% water, this mask is sure to deliver your most hydrated skin ever!  Check out the links below if you want to try any of these new beauty fads!

Teeth Whitening Tips

Teeth Whitening Tips
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/Chelsea-Crockett-Smile.jpg

Hey lovelies!  Whitening your teeth can be super expensive and somewhat bad for your teeth, but I’m sure there are a few tips you haven’t come across.  Although teeth whitening has its benefits, it comes along with dangers as well.  It can cause your teeth to become more sensitive as well as your gums.  There are a few whitening tips that will do the job without the costly prices and dangers.

A free way to help your teeth keep their color is to avoid certain foods and drinks.  Drinks such as coffee,Chelsea Crockett - White Teeth soda, and tea are just a few beverages that stain your teeth.  Berries, soy sauce, popsicles, and candy are foods that also have an effect on the brightness of your teeth.

My favorite and most used trick to brighten up my smile is baking soda.  If you take a little cup and mix a ½ teaspoon of baking soda and a ½ teaspoon of water then you end up with your own whitening paste!  After that, just brush!  I recommend doing this only once or twice a week so you don’t end up with damaged gums.

Crest® 3D whitestrips are a great product to buy if you want your teeth whitened well and quick.  If you’re interested, find them here: http://tiny.cc/Crest3DWhitestrips.  Although they’re a little more expensive, you’ll be sure to have fantastic results and bright, pearly whites!

All About Ponytails

All About Ponytails
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/Chelsea-Crockett-Ponytails.jpg

Hey darlings!

Every once in a while, us girls have had it with our hair.  Messy hair days seem to be happening more and more frequently when we wake up for school.  We all want that hairstyle that can fix our mess without using up several minutes of our time.  The first option that comes to mind is a simple ponytail.  I’m going to share with you a few up-dos that are still cute, yet easy and less time consuming.

Chelsea Crockett - Messy PonytailOne style is the messy, low ponytail.  These are super simple and adorable.  Just pull your hair back in a low ponytail and pull a few pieces out.  The best part is not having to worry about one or two pieces being out of place.  That’s how it’s supposed to be!

Another option is the high ponytail.  My favorite way to rock this look is to pull my hair back tightly and lightly poof the top of your hair.  This look is extremely casual but still fashionable!

If your hair is on the longer side, try curling your long locks!  You can also add a little side braid pulled back into your ponytail.  Remember ponytails look great with a little more character.  Don’t be afraid to try accessorizing either.  Adding in a bow will be sure to create a little pop to your hair style.

Now go defeat those messy hair days!

DIY Pie Shakes

DIY Pie Shakes
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/Chelsea-Crockett-diy-pie-shakes.jpg

Pie and ice cream, who doesn’t love that famous combination?! Mixing the two together is like heaven on a plate! So how could you turn the two into a shake?  It’s simpler than you’d think and the combinations are endless!Chelsea Crockett- blueberry pie shake

Turning a pie into a shake may sound weird to some of you! I promise it’s delicious.  All you need is a blender, ice cream, and your favorite flavor of pie.  Place one cup of ice cream and a slice of pie in the blender, but get rid of the end crust of the pie!  Blend the two together and enjoy!  You’ve got a thick and creamy shake!  Some of my favorite combinations are cinnamon ice cream and apple pie, butterscotch ice cream and peach pie, and vanilla ice cream and blueberry pie!

This sweet treat is perfect to make when you’ve got left over pie from a get-together or holiday! It’s also totally acceptable to run to the store and grab a pie!  When you have a sweet tooth, you’ve got to do what you’ve got to do!

I hope you enjoy this wacky shake!

XOXO,

Chels

How to Fix a Bad Haircut

How to Fix a Bad Haircut
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/Chelsea-Crockett-hat.jpg

Imagine you’re in the moment, “I want bangs and lots of layers!”  Oops, bad mistake. Your hair already has a lot of layers and you have a small forehead already.  Now it’s just a mess!  The bangs are too short and you look like you have all different lengths of hair.  What do you do now?!  Don’t worry; I’ve got a few brilliant tips to save you from a bad haircut.

  • If you have too many layers, making your hair look really choppy, avoid the flat iron.  Try curling your ends, curling some more than others to make pieces Chelsea Crockett- bad hair cutshorter or longer.  This gives the illusion of blended hair.  Also, slipping on a headband will camouflage stubborn short layers.

  • Hate your new bangs?  No problem!  Lucky for you, there are so many cute half up, half down hairstyles to get those pesky bangs out of the way.  Try twisting your bangs and pinning them up or wearing a hair scarf as a head band.  If you like your bangs but wish they were longer, try blow drying them from above and brushing them straight down.  Once straightened, they will appear longer.

  • If your cut is uneven, avoid the flat iron at all time.  Try curling your hair or call your stylist.  They will usually fix that for free!

Don’t freak out if you hate your new hair!  There’s always another options!

Love,

Chelsea

Honey Benefits for Your Skin

Honey Benefits for Your Skin
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/imagesCAFXN6XF1.jpg

For those of you that don’t know, honey is a cheap and excellent start for a recipe for healthy skin.  You may think of it as only an ingredient, but now you can put it to other uses!

Besides its great taste, honey has a wide variety of vitamins and minerals that soothes and hydrates your skin.  Along with moisturizing, honey also helps remove acne and other skin blemishesChelsea Crockett - Honey.  Putting it into action can be done easily at home.  Homemade recipes such as honey masks, lotions, and even hair products are easy to make and results are easy to get.  If you plan on whipping up your own creation, make sure you use raw, natural honey.  This will promote new tissue growth and help exfoliate your skin.  After washing off your honey, a small amount of it still remains in your pores, attracting moisture from the air and leaving your skin hydrated and fresh.  One neat thing about honey is you don’t need to mix it with anything!  Using a teaspoon of raw, natural honey and spreading it on your face will do the job.  Leave it on for as little as 10 minutes or as much as an hour.  After that, just rinse it off with warm water.  It should come off real easily and allow you to have beautiful, glowing skin.

Many natural substances can benefit your body and can be found in items you never would’ve guessed!  Honey is the new “buzz” for flawless and fresh skin!

Keratin Hair Treatment: Is It Worth It?

Keratin Hair Treatment: Is It Worth It?
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/Chelsea-Crockett-salon.jpg

Hello Ladies,

Have you ever wished you had straight, shiny hair instead of your dull, curly, frizzy hair?  Many girls have been turning to keratin treatments at the salon in order to get this “perfect” hair.  This treatment has generated a lot of buzz, since it uses unhealthy chemicals such as formaldehyde.  You must weigh your options if you really want this treatment.  Is it worth it?Chelsea Crockett- keratin treatment

Although the risks of getting a keratin treatment will not kill you, the potential of it harming you are definitely present.  This treatment can only be done a couple times a year…MAX.  You are exposing yourself to strong chemicals, which can irritate your scalp, skin, and eyes.  It can also cause lung damage from breathing in the chemicals.  If you think this treatment is right for you, find a salon with a formaldehyde-free solution.  Also, try wearing a mask so you don’t inhale the chemicals.

Of course, there is a positive side to keratin treatments.  Keratin is like an extremely strong conditioner.  It will make your hair silky smooth and extremely straight.  If you decide to get the treatment, you won’t be able to get your hair wet or style your hair in any way for 1-3 days.  If you put your hair in a ponytail it could create a crease that won’t go away.  Now THAT would be bad!

If you decide to do the keratin treatment on your hair, make sure you do your research.  Enjoy your new hair, but take proper care of it!

Love,

Chelsea

When Shoes Are Too Big...

When Shoes Are Too Big...
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/chelsea-crockett-when-shoes-are-too-big.jpg

I have a pair of black suede wedges that I absolutely adore. The only problem with them? They are a half size too big! When I walk in them my feet slide out and I look like I am walking on a waterbed I am so unsteady! I was so upset when I realized that they were too big, so I did some research! Here is how to make shoes that are too big fit just right!

The first thing you need to do is fill the space where your foot should be. For me, the heal is where I struggle. My gosh darn feet won’t stay in my darn shoes! Fill the gap between your heel and the shoe with Dr. Scholl’s Rub Relief Strips, which come on a roll like Scotch tape but have a thick, cushiony feel. You can find these at any drug store! Another way is to wear cushions on the shoes where the balls of your feet should be. These will jack you up a bit chelsea crockettand keep your feet cozy for long wear! If you are wearing shoes that will be covered by pants, then just throw on an extra pair of socks…or two..:) Sometimes, if you are wearing a dark pair of tights, you can get away with wearing a dark pair of ankle socks under your tights.  A cheap way to make your shoes fit, shove a few cotton balls in the toes of your shoes!

Hopefully these tips help you slip into your favorite pair of too-big shoes!

XOXO, Chels

If you’re like me, then you love to eat the batter of chocolate chip cookies.  Whenever my mom is making cookies, I like to grab a bite of the dough.  Now, we all know this is bad for you, so here’s the perfect alternative, cookie dough bites!  It is an eggless cookie dough that you can enjoy without the worry.  All you need is 1 cup of melted salted butter, 1 ½ cups of brown sugar, 2 cups of flour, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, and 6 ounces of mini chocolate chips.  Mix all of this together in a bowl and create little balls of cookie dough.  Place in the refrigerator for 30 minutes, drizzle with chocolate, and enjoy!

Now, I’ve got a quick and easy salty treat that can be enjoyed as a snack or the perfect side to a sandwich.  It is pepperoni chips!  They are a great alternative to chips and are for pepperoni and pizza lovers alike.  All you need is a bag of pepperoni.  Lay the pepperoni on a microwavable plate and microwave for about 60 seconds.  Now, the pepperoni should be nice and crispy.  Enjoy alone or with your favorite salad dressing.  I love to dip mine in ranch.  Finally, you’ve got the perfect chip with that pizza flavor that everyone loves!

I hope everyone enjoys my sweet and salty treats!  Don’t forget to check out my videos and click on the links below for the full recipes.  Love you all!

Fall Goodies

Fall Goodies
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/Chelsea-Crockett-caramel-apples.jpg

Hello Girls!

Fall is one of my favorite times of the year!  Football games, big sweaters, and bonfires are all part of the fun.  One of my favorite things to do with my friends is to bake treats.  I’m going to share with you a few of my favorite fall recipes!

Caramel apples may be one of my favorite fall treats EVER!  They are so juicy, yet sweet like a candy.  Nothing beats the tastes of homemade caramel apples, so here’s how you can make your own!  What you’ll need is:

  • 8 large apples

  • 8 chopsticks or craft sticks

  • 2 cups packed light brown sugar

  • 1 3/4 cups heavy cream

  • 3/4 cup dark corn syrup

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter      (1/4 stick)

  • 2 teaspoons kosher salt

Start by setting the apples upright and placing a stick at the top of each apple. Also, prepare an ice cold water bath (we will get to this soon).  Next, combine the remaining ingredients in a sauce pan and heat on medium until everything is melted together.  Once melted down, immediately place the bottom of the saucepan in the water bath to cool the mixture down.  Now that everything is completed, dip each apple in the caramel and set on a cooking pan with parchment paper.  Get creative and roll them in nuts, M&M’s, chocolate covered pretzels, or anything you can think up!  Place in the refrigerator and enjoy!!

Another fun fall snack is M&M popcorn….yes, you heard me right!  It’s really simple.  Pop a bag of buttered popcorn in the microwave and add a handful of M&M’s to the popcorn right as you take it out of the bag.  It will melt the chocolate, creating a gooey, buttery, chocolaty, creation.  Also, don’t forget about the bonfire classic, s’mores.  Dig in!Chelsea Crockett- Popcorn and chocolate

Learn To Love Layering

Learn To Love Layering
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/Chelsea-Crockett-layering.jpg

Learn to love layering. That is my one huge piece of advice when it comes to winter weather. Once you have perfected this extremely useful art, you can use it to create one of a kind outfits and form your own personal style. I am going to show you some examples of outfits so you have visual examples!

1.  This outfit combines a sleek vest, a plaid flannel, a chambray denim shirt, and a striped long-sleeved shirt. They tossed in a simple statement necklace to add a little pazazz to the outfit and to spice up the ensemble.

2. This preppy look combines a hot pink vest, a cream colored sweater, and a checked button-up blowse. This color combo is to die for! I also love how they threw in a gold statement watch and some sassy bangles to tie the outfit together. They finished off the outfit with a pair of dark wash skinnies. Perf!

   3. This combo is probably my favorite of them all. It has a sort of rustic, country feel to it, ya know? This outfit combines an army vest with a striped sweater and a chambray denim shirt. I love the subtle colors in the chunky pastel scarf! It pulls the green in the vest and the navy in the pants together, as well as the tan booties.

Have you learned a lesson in layering? I hope the answer is “yes!” Don’t be afraid to try any of these combos this fall and winter!

Spice Up Your Dorm!

Spice Up Your Dorm!
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/Blendzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.jpg

Dorm rooms are the perfect place to express your personality and personal style! These simple DIY’s can spruce up your dorm room and make it feel a little more “you”!

Photo wall art: What makes your dorm room more “you” than pictures of your friends and family?! There are some really cool ways to display your photos. One way is to arrange them in cool shapes, such as a heart, like the example below! You can also take string and attach it to your wall with thumb tacks and then hang pictures on the string with clothes pins, like the picture below!

Another DIY that not only spruces up your dorm but is also fab for storage is colored jars! By taking mason jars and swishing paint around in the jar, you coat the inside and create a super adorable room accent! You can keep pens and pencils in them, hair ties, paper clips, anything that you want!

The last way that you can make your dorm feel more perky is by hanging twinkling lights inside your dorm, whether it is from the ceiling, your bed, or on your walls. Twinkling lights can give your room a calming sense and help you feel more like home, and they can turn any gloomy dorm room into a twinkling, cheery one!

Hopefully these help you brighten up your dorm room!

The Dos and Don"ts of Homecoming

The Dos and Don"ts of Homecoming
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/Chelsea-Crockett-homecoming.jpg

Hi Girls!

It’s about that time again, a time to get dressed up, hangout with your friends, and dance the night away.  It’s homecoming!!  Now, I’m sure you’re used to all the fashion advice that surrounds homecoming, but what about all the other homecoming advice that’s out there?!  I’m going to break down the dos and don’ts of homecoming 2013!Chelsea Crockett- homecoming banner

  • Do: Go with your girlfriends and closet friends!

  • Don’t: Don’t be obsessed about a guy asking you to go to homecoming.  Just have fun with your friends and being YOU!

  • Do: Be simple!  Have everyone over to one of your friends’ houses to take pictures!  This way, everyone can hangout for a little bit before and after.

  • Don’t:  There’s no need to go to the city or a fancy place to take pictures for homecoming, it’s not prom!

  • Do: Carpool to the dance!

  • Don’t:  Renting a limo or party bus for homecoming can be expensive!  Save that expense for prom.

  • Do: Wear a dress that shows off your personality.

  • Don’t: Make sure you don’t look like you’re going to the club!

  • Do: Wear comfy shoes.  Try to pick a shorter heel.

  • Don’t:  You won’t be able to move on the dance floor in 7 inch stilettos!

Another fun thing to do for homecoming is have a potluck!  Have everyone bring their favorite appetizer, entrée, or dessert and set it out for everyone to enjoy.  It’ll save lots of money and you’ll be able to visit with your friends in a more relaxed setting.  You also don’t have to worry about making those pesky dinner reservation. Have a great time at your dance!  It’s a time to remember so take lots of pictures!

Have fun,

Chelsea

Fall Wardrobe Must-Haves

Fall Wardrobe Must-Haves
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/chelsea-crockett-fall-wardrobe-must-haves.jpg

There are a few things that every girl needs to be a fall fashionista. They make or break your cool-weather wardrobe and ensure that you will ALWAYS have something cute to wear when the weather gets chilly. Here are 6 items that your fall wardrobe cannot do without:

  1. Wrapped sweater: This kind of sweater is perfect because it is cozy and warm and super stylish. I love to pair it with a pairtory burch selma riding boot almond of riding boots and dark skinnies!

  2. Black jeans: Black jeans are so chic and versatile. They can be worn in both casual and dressy situations. I love pairing my black skinnies with everything from a jean button up and infinity scarf to a cute flannel and combat boots.

  3. White V-neck: White V-necks go great under sweaters and army jackets! Toss on a pair of distressed skinny jeans and combat boots to complete the look.

  4. Riding boots: Ugh. I love riding boots. They are so classy and make any outfit look so put-together! I like wearing my riding boots with a white button up with the sleeves rolled just a little bit with dark skinnies and a statement watch.

  5. Flowey blouse: Everyone has their favorite flowey blouse that they wish they could wear every day! Grab one in a fall color like dark purple or crimson.

  6. Stripped shirt: Striped shirts are the perfect mix of classy, nautical, and preppy. Wear them under a sweater or army jacket or just rock em by themselves with a pair of dark skinnies!

Fall fashion is my favorite thing on the planet because I love to layer and I love boots and scarves and just everything about it! What is YOUR favorite thing about fall fashion?

XOXO, Chels
