How to Shrink your Anxiety

How to Shrink your Anxiety
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/chelsea-crockett-how-to-shrink-your-anxiety-.jpg

Right now I am in a season of life that holds many unknowns. Things such as where I am going to college, what my major is going to be, where I will be in one year, and many more. These worries can sometimes get the best of me and cause me to feel anxiety. There are a few things that make my anxiety and worry feel smaller and more manageable. I hope they can do the same for you!

  1. Make lists: Break things down into small, manageable tasks. Instead of listing “apply to ___ college” say “download application to __.” Make the tasks smaller so that they don’t seem so daunting, and the more small tasks you have on your list the more you can cross off!anxiety
  2. Do some tidying up: When I have a dirty room it seriously stresses me out. Like, I feel like I don’t have my life together. It is distracting! If you are ever feeling overwhelmed, clean your room and put everything away where it needs to go. You will feel sorted out, accomplished, and ready to take on anything!
  3. Take a walk: Go outside and take your dog, or your mom or sister, for a walk. The exercise will clear your head and give you a break from stress.
  4. Cuddle with your dog: Or, in my case, dog(s). Their unconditional love is guaranteed to calm you down and warm your spirits.
  5. Be nice to yourself: Give yourself a break and don’t be too hard on yourself. Your emotions are valid, and you are not the only one going through a tough spot! You are strong. In fact, you’re pretty stinkin’ amazing.

These all help me calm down and de-stress. But you know what ALWAYS never fails to put my heart at peace? Putting in a prayer to the Big Man Upstairs. Pray to God to give you peace and comfort in your hard time, and ask for His guidance.

XOXO, Chels

Which Hair Extensions Are Right for You?

Which Hair Extensions Are Right for You?
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/Chelsea-Crockett-Which-Hair-Extensions-Are-Right-for-You.png

Have you ever had a bad haircut, maybe it was cut too short, or have you always wanted long, thick hair?!  Recently, one of my workers had a terrible haircut experience that resulted in her getting extensions.  What was meant to be a trim, turned into a good 5 inches being taken off.  She was mortified!  Lexi started exploring her options and decided to get extensions.  Curious, I started asking her all about them.  Here’s what she told me:

There are a wide variety of extensions to choose from and must be chosen carefully for each individual person.  While some are temporary, others can last months, and some can even damage your hair.  Depending on your hair type, picking out the correct extensions are crucial for a natural look.

  • Clip in extensions are great for temporary wear. They can be taken in and out and leave no damage to your hair.  You can wash and style these like real hair, but compared to other options, look the “fakest”.  You have to be careful where you place them!
  • Glue-in and pre-bonded extensions are small strands of hair fused with a heating machine to other strands of hair. While these look extremely natural, they require a lot of upkeep.  Avoid using conditioner or heat around the bonds.  This can loosen each bond making them fall out sooner or even break off your hair.
  • Sewn-in extensions are ideal for people with coarse, curly, or thick hair. They are applied by sewing the extension into a tight braid under your hair line.  This requires frequent trips to the salon to keep the braid tight and make sure the end is still tied.  If you have thin hair, I would avoid this option.
  • Tape extensions are my ultimate favorite. While they are quite pricier, they look the most natural and have the least upkeep.  They are applied with two strands of clear tape to different sections of hair.  If you are gentle with them and don’t use a brush around them, they can last months!Chelsea Crockett- tape extensions

Once you’ve chosen your extensions, have a stylist shape them to blend in with your natural hair.  Hope you love them!

XOXO,

            Chelsea

Smashbox Holiday Collection

Smashbox Holiday Collection
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Chelsea-Crockett-Smashbox.jpg

I recently received an awesome little gift box in the mail from Smashbox, one of my favorite cosmetics brands! It was their holiday collection called Art. Love. Color. in which they collaborated with artist Yago Hortal to create a vibrant, inspiring collection. I received the studio set with several products that I wanted to give you a little review and inside on!Chelsea Crockett - Smashbox Holiday Collection

When I opened the box, there were two containers with different products in each. In the first container, I received five products: the Full Exposure Mascara, the Be Legendary Lipstick in Primrose, two Photo Op Eye Shadow Trios titled Callback and Spectral, and the Be Legendary Lip Gloss in Disco Rose. The second little box came with three different priming products: the Photo Finish Foundation Primer, the Photo Finish Hydrating Under Eye Primer, and the Layer Lash Primer.

Of course I could go into each product one-by-one, but I’d rather tell you about my favorites! First off, I LOVE the mascara. The brush makes my lashes look extra full and long. It applies easily and slides right off at the end of the day. I’m also loving the Be Legendary lipstick. It’s shade is a darker pink that looks great for fall. You can even apply the lip gloss over it for a glossier look! The rest of the products in the studio set are just as good. Check it out!

“People cannot live without color. Imagine a life in black and white, it’s boring. We need color to feel alive.” - Yago Hortal

Trench Coat Fashion

Trench Coat Fashion
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/chelsea-crockett-trench-coat-fashion-.jpg

To me, there is no clothing item more classic than a tan trench coat. They are timeless, can be paired with pretty much anything, and never go out of style. If there was one piece of clothing I would recommend for every closet, it would be a tan trench coat! Here are a few of my favoirte ways to wear them this fall and winter.trench 1

  1. Classy and casual: For running around town or any casual occasion, pair a simple striped shirt with some dark jeans, and simple ankle booties with a trench coat for a slightly nautical, classy look.
  2. A bit more dressy: If you want to dress things up just a smidge, layer a patterened button-up under a simple sweater, and pair that with a pair of black pants for a preppy, put-together look.
  3. Dressing it up: If you’re feeling really dressy, pair a cute collared dress with your trench coat. The collar will add a sweet simple touch to the outfit, and the dress gives the ensemble a feminine flair!

So what do you say, is a trench coat on your wish list now?

XOXO, Chels

Cute, Warm Weather Wear

Cute, Warm Weather Wear
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Chelsea-Crockett-Cute-Warm-Weather-Wear.jpg

Winter is quickly approaching and sometimes, it can be hard to dress cute with layers upon layers of clothing.  I live in the middle of the Midwest, so we get hit hard with snow storms every year.  Throughout the years, I’ve come across some amazing, warm pieces that everyone needs in their wardrobe.  Who says you can’t dress warm and look cute at the same time?!  Chelsea Crockett- cable knit beanie

  • Sorel boots are amazing! They come in all different styles and can keep your feet warm in negative degrees!   Pair them with tall wool socks and a long sweater.
  • Puffy coats are the definition of warmth. Many designers such as Michael Kors and BCBG have made the puffy coat chic by adding thick gold zippers, buttons, and different lengths.  I LOVE knee length puffy coats!
  • Beanies are fab! They can take any outfit to the next level of street style or grunge.  Try a thick cable knit beanie!
  • Vests are everything! It’s the perfect item to throw on during a chilly day.  If you’re looking for a classy look, add a flannel and some riding boots to the mix.
  • Ponchos are back in! They are absolutely amazing with a long sleeve under and some leather leggings.

Have a fabulous winter, Insiders!

DIY Sharpie Mug

DIY Sharpie Mug
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/chelsea-crockett-DIY-sharpie-mug-.jpg

Creativity and coffee…two of life’s greatest gifts! We combine them for today’s blog post. Drinking out of a cute mug makes whatever you’re drinking taste so much better. So, today I am going to introduce you to the easiest DIY coffee mug ever. All you need is a plain white coffee mug, a Sharpie marker or two, a pencil, tape, and your favorite quote to make today/s DIY happen. These mugs make great gifts, or a great accessory for YOU!

Supplies:

  • Sharpies
  • Pencilc7603bf96bd7c44a_photo_6.xxxlarge_2x
  • Tape
  • Design/Quote
  • White Mug

I went online and designed a cute quote on Photoshop, then printed it off. You can even use Microsoft Word to type out what you want on your mug and then print it out! Cut around the quote with a scissors and then take a pencil and shade the back of the quote. Shade really well because you will be transferring the pencil onto the mug. Tape the quote to the mug, and then trace the letters, making sure to press firmly so the pencil on the back of the quote transfers onto the mug. Take the paper off of the mug and then fill in your outline that you transferred with Sharpie. Let your mug sit for 24 hours, then bake it at 350 for 15 minutes. DONE!! Now you have an adorable homemade mug that you can be totally proud of.

Ps. Never wash these in the dishwasher, it may cause the marker to wear off quicker. :)

Happy mug-making!

XOXO, Chels

Toasty Marshmallow Iced Coffee

Toasty Marshmallow Iced Coffee
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/chelsea-crockett-toasty-marshmallow-iced-coffee.jpg

Iced coffee is such a yummy treat, no matter if it is hot or cold outside! There are so many fun fall variations, from pumpkin spice to toasted marshmallow. Yes, toasty marshmallow coffee! Here is how to whip up a cup for yourself.

Ingredients:

  • 3 quarts of brewed coffee, cooled2a632a1fe8594e91870299de773d64fa
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • Milk or almond milk
  • Marshmallow cream

Brew a pot of coffee and let it cool in a pitcher in the fridge over-night. Combine the sugars and 1 cup water in medium sauce pan. Bring to a boil, stirring frequently, and boil for 2-3 minutes until it is syrup-like. Stir sugar syrup into the pitcher of cold coffee.

Next add all of the milk to the pitcher. This mixture is good for a week! Pour your coffee into a cup filled with ice, top with marshmallow cream, and voila! It’s like a bonfire in a cup!

Say “Goodbye” to Baking Mistakes!

Say “Goodbye” to Baking Mistakes!
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/Chelsea-Crockett-Say-“Goodbye”-to-Baking-Mistakes.jpg

If you browse through my website, you’ll be sure to find out that I love food…especially sweets! Whenever I have free time, I love to try out new baking recipes for fun! While it may seem easy, baking can be hard sometimes! I even mess up the box directions! By observing my mom and my own mistakes, I figured out the way around some of the most common…and not some common, baking mistakes. Let’s make the best cake ever!Chelsea Crockett- baking mistakes

  • I love love love fruit! If you’re making a cake or cupcakes with fresh fruit, roll the fruit through flour to keep each piece from sinking to the bottom.
  • Melting chocolate chips can be hard! Microwave chocolate pieces with vegetable or canola oil for short amounts of time, stirring in between. Chocolate can burn very easily! (I’ve done this too many times.)
  • Only fill cupcake cases 2/3 high to leave room for rising! They’ll turn out to be the perfect size!
  • Don’t put too many things in your oven! This causes the baking time to be longer, which may result in over-baked or burnt goods!
  • Test cakes right out of the oven by dipping a toothpick in the cake. If the toothpick is clean, then your cake is perfectly cooked!
  • To avoid your desserts from looking sloppy, make sure they are fully cooled before decorating or icing. I know it’s hard to be patient when it smells so good!!

Happy baking Insiders!

Best Things About Being Single in the Fall

Best Things About Being Single in the Fall
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/Chelsea-Crockett-best-things-about-being-single-during-the-fall-.jpg

Its fall yall! It’s a great time to be alive…and to be single! Yeah, going to the pumpkin patch with a cute dude sounds super fun, but you know what else sounds fun? The stuff below! Here are a few reasons why being single in the fall is fabulous.

  1. Guys in flannels: fall = flannels, flannels + cute dudes = heart eyes emoji. And you can stare because you are single!single 4
  2. Guilt free PSL indulgence: You won’t have to worry about a guy saying “don’t you ever get tired of pumpkin spice..?”
  3. No cheesy couples Halloween costume: Yes, couples Halloween costumes can be cute, but they’re sometimes slightly obnoxious. Like, if I want to be Elsa from Frozen, no one can stop me! I don’t need a dude to sing “Let it Go” at the top of my lungs with. I’m a solo act.
  4. Candids.: You and your gal pals can take “candid” pictures of yourselves mid-laugh in the pumpkin patch, looking like Instagram models. You don’t need a guy to have a impromptu photo shoot, that’s what bffs are for. Guys are not so good at staged candids. “Look happy! You look mad. Just act like you’re happy then! Ugh, my friends are way better at this than you are.” That is how I imagine that conversation with a guy going.

See? Being single during the fall can be loads of fun. Having a guy is fun too, and there are tons of fun fall date ideas out there, but this post is for my single ladies.

Fall Fashion: White Jeans

Fall Fashion: White Jeans
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/chelsea-crockett-fall-fashion-white-jeans-.jpg

Who says you cannot wear white after Labor Day? I petition that we throw that rule out the door! Why put those perfectly good white jeans away for the fall/winter when you could rock them all year long? Beats me! Here are my favorite ways to wear white jeans in the fall.white pants 1

  1. With a neutral sweater: If you are looking for a casual outfit to wear to school, pair your white skinnies with a neutral colored oversized sweater. Add in a thick brown belt and some nude flats or Sperries to complete the look!
  2. With a jean jacket: A dark jean jacket adds so much dimension to a simple outfit. Pair white jeans, a simple gray shirt, and a denim jacket for a simple, sweet fall look. Toss in some suede booties to complete the ensemble!
  3. With gingham: Oh my goodness. I just love gingham. It is so classy and cute and vintange and just all around adorable! Tuck a gingham button up into your white jeans, or just tuck in the front and let the rest of the shirt hang loose, and layer in a thin tan belt. I would wear some white Keds sneakers with this duo!

People will forget the phrase “don’t wear white past Labor Day” when they see how cute you look in your fall white jeans ensembles!

XOXO, Chels

Watches are a classic statement piece. They add a timeless touch to any outfit, plus, they make sure you are on time! ;) Today I am going to tell you the 3 watches every girl needs in her wardrobe. Each is unique and adds its own special flare to any outfit it accents! Plus they can be worn year round because they are so versitile.

  1. The classic: Every girl needs one watch that goes with evvvverything. These watches can be worn to school, to work, and then out with friends even when you have changed your outfit 3 different times! It is versitile and classic. I love this Kate Spade watch because of the adorable gold and white face and the cute leather band.watches 3
  2. The statement: A statement watch can be the focal point of your whole outfit! I love this map-faced watch. It reminds me of my love for traveling! I also love it because it has a sort of boho/vintage/hipster flare to it!
  3. The unique: If you want to add dimension to your outfit, you need a wraparound watch. The strap wraps around your wrist a few times which gives it a unique look. I love this look because it is a little edgy! I would wear it with an oversized neutral sweater or a military jacket and some ripped up black skinny jeans.

What kind of watches make up YOUR wardrobe? Comment below which one of these three is your fav!

  • 5 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2-3 cups of powdered sugar

In a large bowl, combine the graham cracker crumbs, chocolate chips, condensed milk, vanilla, nuts, and salt. Mix it well until it is combined into a batter. Quick and Simple Milk and Honey Soap

Quick and Simple Milk and Honey Soap
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/Chelsea-Crockett-Quick-and-Simple-Milk-and-Honey-Soap.jpg

Milk and honey are the perfect combination. Not only do they smell great together, but are smoothing, conditioning, cleansing, and can even clear up acne! It can be hard to come across an all-natural soap that isn’t filled with extra dyes or chemicals. Luckily, making your own is just as easy as grabbing some at the store. Check it out!Chelsea Crockett- soap mold

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • 3 tablespoons of Organic Raw Honey
  • 1 pound of Goat"s Milk Soap Base
  • Silicone Mold

Start by cutting the block of goat’s milk soap base into small cubes. Place the cubes in a big, microwavable bowl, microwaving for 30 seconds at a time and stirring in between. Once the soap base is completely melted, add the 3 tablespoons of honey and mix again. Pour the final mixture into the silicone soap mold, some come in really cute shapes, and wait until the soap has hardened. There is no need to place it in the refrigerator. The soap will harden at room temperature and can take up to 2 hours. Use this soap for yourself or give it away as a nice, homemade gift. You’ll never want to buy soap again!

XOXO,

Pretty in Plaid

Pretty in Plaid
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/chelsea-crockett-pretty-in-plaid-.jpg

To me, one of the classiest, most preppy patterns is plaid. Wouldn’t you agree? The best time to wear plaid is during the autumn and winter months, and luckily those months are upon us! Here are a few of my favorite ways to pair up plaid this season.

  1. Dress it up: Layer a chunky cableknit sweater over a plaid skirt or dress for a layered fall look. Add in some booties and a felt hat to complete the ensemble! I love this pairing because it is just too cute for words! So pretty and preppy.plaid
  2. Layer it up: Pair your favorite plaid flannel with a puffy or faux fur vest for a cute, simple, everyday look! Add some brown riding boots and you are good to go. If you want something casual, Pair a solid long sleeved tee with dark pants and a plaid flannel wrapped around your waist.plaid 3
  3. Scarf it up: The easiest way to wear plaid this season is to wear it in scarf form! Pair a plaid scaf or blanket scarf with your favorite sweater to add a little extra oomf to your outfit.

Ahh plaid, you never disappoint! There are so many more options on how to wear plaid, this is just a few! Comment below with some other outfit ideas on how to wear this preppy pattern.

How To: The Half-Bun

How To: The Half-Bun
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/Chelsea-Crockett-how-to-the-half-bun-.jpg

There aren’t many hairstyles that can be both cute AND practical. Fortunately, buns can do just that. Recently I discovered the half bun, and my life is changed. Okay, maybe I am being a little dramatic, but I really love this hair style. It looks good during the day, on a night out, anywhere! Move over sock bun, half buns are the new craze! Here is how to make them work for any hair type and length:main.original.585x0

Short hair: If you have a “lob” or short hair you can make this bun work. Take a section of hair from each temple and pull your hair into a half-up high ponytail. After securing your hair with an elastic create a baby bun by bobby pinning sections of the ponytail around the hair tie.

Long hair: First you need to tie the top half of your hair up in a ponytail, much like the short haired ladies did. Make sure the pony is tight, but go back and gently tug the hair on top to give your crown a bit of volume. Tease the tail near the base to give your bun a fuller look. Twist your pony around the base of the elastic, secure it with bobby pins, and then adjust it to the shape you want.

Thin hair: For my thin haired ladies, putting half of your hair in a pony may sound like a bad bad idea. We can make it work! Curl your hair into loose waves, add some dry shampoo along your roots, and tease the sections of hair you will be putting in the bun. Pull your textured tresses into a half bun and secure!

Hard-to-style hair: If your hair has trouble holding any kind of style, work some texturizing powder through your strands to give it some grip. Make a tuck bun by pulling your hair through a hair tie twice and only pulling it halfway through the 3rd time. Leave the ends out for a texured look, and wrap the ends around the hair tie and secure for a more finished look!

Thanks to Cosmopolitan for the great half bun styling ideas! I love seeing how this hairstyle can work for every hair type, don’t you?

XOXO, Chels

Caramel Apple Nachos

Caramel Apple Nachos
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/chelsea-crockett-caramel-apple-nachos.jpg

These aren’t your average nachos…they are caramel apple nachos! I cannot decide if I like these or regular nachos better, so I guess I will just have to keep on eating both! ;)

These nachos are a fun fall themed treat. Caramel apples make me think of autumn, would you agree? You can even go apple picking with a bunch of friends (or a hot date!) to collect a few of your necessary ingredients. Here is the recipe!

Ingredients:

  • 3-4 gala apples
  • 3-4 granny smith applescaramelapplenachosbutterwithasideofbread4
  • Caramel ice cream topping
  • White chocolate candy coating
  • Mini chocolate chips
  • Heath toffee bits

Pour the Heath bits and mini chips into 2 separate bowls. Cut a ziploc bag at the corner for the white chocolate drizzle. Cut your apples into slices and place them on the dish you want to serve them. Melt the white chocolate by placing the white chocolate candy coating in a small sauce pan on low heat. Stir it constantly until it is melted and smooth. Pour it into the cut Ziploc bag and drizzle it onto your apples. Next, drizzle the caramel ice cream topping onto them, then sprinkle the toffee bits and mini chocolate chips.

This recipe is super quick to make. Caramel apple nachos + a Halloween movie= the perfect autumn evening!

XOXO, Chels

Fun Fall Date Ideas

Fun Fall Date Ideas
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/chelsea-crockett-fun-fall-date-ideas-.jpg

Fall is one of my favorite times to go on dates. The weather is just getting to be chilly, which means you can dress cute without being worried that you will sweat your brains out. Plus, your hair won’t plaster to your forehead or go poofy with humidity! SCORE! Anyway, autumn holds lots of opportunities for super fun dates. Here are just a few of my favs!

  • Corn maze: Go get lost together in a corn maze! You will have a blast trying to find your way, bumping into each other, 15-Fabulous-Fall-Date-Ideas-Pumpkin-Patch-Datelaughing the whole time!
  • Pumpkin picking: Go have a blast picking out the perfect pumpkin! You will have so much fun riding out to the patch and trying to find a better pumpkin than the other ;). Plus, you can make pumpkin pie or roast the seeds with the insides of your precious pumpkins!
  • Pumpkin decorating: After you go pick out the pumpkins together, have a decorating contest!
  • Haunted house: Getting to jump into your boy’s arms when a creepy zombie scares you= the best kind of date. ;)
  • Apple picking: Go apple picking together, then make yummy treats with the apples you picked!
  • Go to a football game: Football games are one of the best fall activities if you ask me. You will have a blast cheering on your favorite team together!
  • Rake leaves…and then jump through them: Pretty self-explanatory. Leaves + you + your man + a couple of rakes = hours of fun and a leaf-free yard.
  • Have a Halloween movie marathon: Grab that pumpkin pie or apple dumplings you made together, cozy up, and turn on a good Halloween movie!

Don’t have a boy toy? Grab a gal pal and do all of these things together! They may take a little bit of tweaking, but they will still be a super blast!

Pumpkin Spice Puppy Chow? Yes Pleases!

Pumpkin Spice Puppy Chow? Yes Pleases!
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/Chelsea-Crockett-Pumpkin-Spice-Puppy-Chow-.jpg

Puppy chow is probably on my list of top 10 favorite foods. Not even kidding. I cannot stop myself when there is a bowl of it in front of me. It just magically disappears. Anyway, what sounds better than fall flavored puppy chow? Not much. Not much at all. Here is how to make pumpkin spice puppy chow!

Ingredients:

  • 7-8 cups Cinnamon Chex cereal30a38f6be09a02a8e7fe762ffc8fad4f
  • 12 ounces orange candy melts
  • 3 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon allspice
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1-2 cups candy pumpkins

Pour the Chex cereal into a bowl and put to the side. Melt the candy melts for 20 seconds, stir, melt, and stir until they are melted. Stir 2 teaspoons of cinnamon, the cloves, allspice and nutmeg in to the candy melts until it is combined. Pour this mixture onto the cereal and stir gently to coat all of the squares. Be gentle! Pour the powdered sugar and 1 tsp of cinnamon into a large Ziploc baggie. Pour in the coated squares and shake until they are all coated in sugar. Pour in the pumpkins and toss some more. Store it in an air tight container, or just eat them all right then and there! No judgments here.

Enjoy!

Fall Faux Fur Vest Fashion

Fall Faux Fur Vest Fashion
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/chelsea-crockett-faux-fur-vest-fashion-.jpg

Okay so faux fur vests are everywhere right now. And I have to say, I am digging it. I might, just MIGHT have bought one from the Target kid’s section the other day. Hey, it was cheaper than the adult one! No shame. Here is how to dress this trend for every occasion.

  1. Casual: Layer a plaid button-down shirt with your fur vest for a great everyday outfit! Pair with some suede booties and aviator sunglasses and you are all set.
    faux 3
  2. Semi-casual: I love long-sleeve t-shirt or tunic dresses. Paired with a fur vest? DROOL! Add in a floppy hat and chunky heel booties for a super trendy ensemble. Wear this shopping, out to lunch with friends, or to a fall party!
  3. Dressed up: If you are looking for an effortlessly chic outfit, look no further than black jeans or leather leggings, a black blouse or tunic, and a faux fur vest. Add in some black suede booties, a black leather tote, and some trendy shades to complete this night-out worthy look.

I know what you’re thinking. Where can I find an adorable faux fur vest?! I have found cute ones at TJ Maxx and Target, but they are pretty much everywhere!

Happy hunting!

No Bake Cheesecake Balls

No Bake Cheesecake Balls
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/chelsea-crocckett-No-Bake-Cheesecake-Balls-.jpg
Are you craving cheesecake but don’t have the time to go through the whole process of going to the store, finding all of the ingredients, putting them all together, baking them, and then finally getting to enjoy it? Well you are in luck, because I have a simple, easy recipe for delicious raspberry cheesecake balls that don’t require any baking and you probably already have the ingredients in your fridge! Curious? Read on!

Ingredients:

  • 12 oz fresh raspberries, washed and dried

  • 2 8 oz pkgs cream cheese, softened

  • 2 Cups cool whip

  • ⅓ Cup sugar

  • 1 sleeve graham crackers

Place the cream cheese and sugar in a bowl and whip with a hand mixer. Add the raspberry in and stir to combine. You want the raspberries to break up and mix with the cream cheese. Add in the cool whip and stir in with a spoon until they are just combined. Place in freezer for 2 hours. Crumble up your graham crackers however you see fit and place them in a bowl. With a spoon portion out dollops of the cream cheese mix one at a time into the bowl of graham cracker crumbs. Roll the cheesecake ball around in the crumbs using a spoon and place on a sheet tray lined with wax paper. After you"re done rolling the balls place the trays in the freezer for a couple hours until they get frozen. Put them in a Ziploc and take on out when you need a nice sweet treat to nibble on.

How easy was that?!

XOXO, Chels

Legging Hacks for Every Girl"s Struggles

Legging Hacks for Every Girl"s Struggles
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Chelsea-Crockett-Legging-Hacks.jpg

Leggings are a girl’s best friend. We throw them on with an oversized t-shirt, a big sweater, or basically anything we can make them work with! Depending on the brand or type you get, they can sometimes attract dust or stretch out more than others. That’s the worst! I’ve found some genius ways you can stretch out the lifetime and keep them clean and fitting!

First come first, where is all this dust and buildup coming from on my leggings? Believe it or not, it’s mostly dead skin. Of course, it could also be other alternative. Particles from clothing can latch on to your leggings and create buildup that way too. Obviously washing your pair of leggings can get rid of dust or other particles, Chelsea Crockett - Leggingsbut let’s be real… wh has time to wash their leggings after every wear? Here’s the solution: moisturize, moisturize, moisturize! Hydrating your skin can lessen these effects. Apply lotion daily especially after you shower. During the winter months, our skin gets much drier so these tips are extra important throughout the cold season.

Sometimes our leggings tend to run and stretch which is not what we paid for! I read online that lightly spraying them with hairspray helps prevent this. It actually works, too! This doesn’t mean you have to coat your leggings with hair spray. Just lightly mist them before putting them on or after a wash.

Do you have any secrets to preserving the life of your leggings? Share them with me below!

DIY: Fall Face Masks!

DIY: Fall Face Masks!
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/Chelsea-Crockett-Fall-Face-Masks.jpg

            Hey insiders!

As autumn rolls in, so does cold, windy weather.  This type of weather can irritate and dry out your skin.  Face masks and scrubs will be much needed, but also over-priced and very expensive.  Here are a couple DIY recipes that you can make at home and avoid breaking the bank!

Pumpkin Face Mask.  For this recipe, you’re only going to need three ingredients: 2Chelsea Crockett - Pumpkin Face Mask teaspoons of pureed pumpkins (or canned), 1 teaspoon of organic Greek yogurt (milk can be substituted), and a half teaspoon of organic honey.  These products will help soothe and exfoliate your skin with the vitamins they contain.  To start off, take all of your ingredients and mix them together in a bowl.  Then apply the mixture to dampened skin and leave it on for 10 minutes.  Then rinse off with a warm washcloth.  You can repeat this process up to once a week!

Cinnamon Face Mask.  Once again, this recipe only includes three ingredients: 2 tablespoons of honey, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, and 1 teaspoon of nutmeg.  Mix them all together and spread it evenly on your face.  Leave on for up to an hour.  It’s a long time but the results are worth it!  Rinse off with warm water and repeat 2-3 times a week.

                                                            Enjoy!

                                                                 Chelsea

Edgy Accessory Must-Haves for Fall

Edgy Accessory Must-Haves for Fall
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Chelsea-Crockett-Fall-Accessories.jpg

I’ve recently been on an accessory kick. I love all the new, edgy jewelry and shoes that have come into the fashion world! Since I’m an Instagram fanatic, I’ve seen tons of chic looks that are ten times more stylish due to the trendy accessories they pair with it. Here’s a little insight on the newest ways to accessorize!

  • Gold and silver watches, such as Michael Kors and Fossil, have been big for a while now. I saw on Pinterest that stores are starting to sell matte black watches! How edgy is that? Some of the watches are accented with silver or gold so you can pair the rest of your jewelry accordingly!
  • I love owning a couple pairs of rain boots to change out for the rainy/snowy weather. Instead of patterned, glossy boots, stores are starting to take a turn to matte dull colored ones. I’m obsessed! A brand of boots called Hunter has a wide variety you can choose from. They might be expensive, but their quality is great!Chelsea Crockett - Wedge Booties
  • Since boots are the big thing for fall and winter, you’ll need some that can dress up an outfit! Wedge booties are SO cute and come in all different kinds. The ones on the right are one of my fave pairs!
  • Last, but definitely not least, are boot cuffs! Instead of finding socks long enough to stick out of the top of your boots, you can get knitted cuffs to do the job for you.

What’s your go-to fall accessory this season? Let me know below!

XO - Chelsea

How to Style a Half-Bun

How to Style a Half-Bun
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/chelsea-crockett-How-to-Style-a-Half-Bun-.jpg

Half buns are all the rage. Now, this hair style won’t save your neck from sweating, but it WILL keep your hair out of your face in a casually chic way. That is all a girl can ask for in a hair style, is it not? Here is why this hairstyle is making waves.

  1. It is a happy medium: If you want to wear your hair down but you also want it out of your face, then this hairdo is your bff. Instead of pulling back your bangs with a bobby pin, pull it up in a half up bun!half bun 2
  2. It is uber easy: It takes less than a minute. For real. Use a texture spray to give your hair some waves and grit. Take sections of hair from temple to temple and sit the knot high on your head if you have a short face. If you have a longer face or narrower forehead then position the knot towards the back of your head.
  3. It is super stylish: Some of my favorite style icons have been putting their own spin on this style. And rightfully so! It looks so effortless and chic and the same time, and not a lot of hair styles can do that! Plus you can literally wear this hairstyle at any point in the day and to virtually any place, from the gym to dinner out!

I am sold. Half bun here I come!

XOXO, Chels

Study Snacks to Keep you Motivated

Study Snacks to Keep you Motivated
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/chelsea-crockett-Study-Snacks-to-Keep-you-Motivated-.jpg

Studying requires one very important resource. Two words. Power snack. What else can motivate you to plow through those 4 pages of geometry homework? Whether I am studying or editing, I always need a trusty power snack by my side to keep my brain and body fueled. Here are a few of my favs!

  1. Frozen yogurt blueberries: These bite size treats are perfect because they are easy to pop in your mouth and are totally tasty.study HERE is the recipe!
  2. Toasted pumpkin seeds: Fall = pumpkins. Pumpkins = an abundance of pumpkin seeds. Pumpkin seeds are packed with zinc and boost memory, which just miiiiight give you a bit of a test-cramming advantage. ;) HERE is the recipe.
  3. Veggies and hummus: I have recently rediscovered my love for hummus. I love dipping baby grape tomatoes and carrots in my hummus! This snack is high in protein so it will give you energy for hours.
  4. Banana hotdogs: Take a wheat tortilla, coat it with almond butter, and wrap a banana inside of it! This snack is easy to transport if you need to take it on the go to the library or a friend’s house for a study sesh, plus the bananas pack lots of energy-boosting carbohydrates!

Like I said earlier, is there any better study motivation than tasty snacks? My guess is no. ;)

XOXO, Chels

DIY Fall Candles

DIY Fall Candles
https://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/chelsea-crockett-DIY-Fall-Candles-.jpg

What better way to ring in fall than to fill your house with scents of the season! I love when my mom lights pumpkin spice or apple pie candles in my house. It makes the whole place smell so cozy and it makes me feel so happy that fall is coming! Here is how to make your very own fall flavored candles.

You will need:

  • Pint jarscandles7
  • Wick (you can buy this at any crafts store)
  • 1 cup Beeswax
  • 1 cup Coconut Oil
  • Spices (I find mine at the dollar store)

Start by placing the wicks in the jars and tape the wicks to the bottom of the jars. If you use tape just make sure it"s secure. Take the tops of the wicks, cut them long, and wrap them around an old pencil and place in the centers of the jars.

Melt the beeswax, coconut oil, and a tablespoon of spices together. My suggestion is to use a jar and place a few inches of water in the saucepan. Then when the water heats up, the contents of the jar will heat up and melt. You don"t need the wax and oil to boil, just melt.  Pour a small amount of wax into the very bottom of the jar and let it firm up so that the wick stays at the bottom.  Then pour the rest of the wax in the jar until it"s full enough. Let the candles sit still until the wax re-hardens. Then you are ready to burn your candles!

Make one for your mom, your grandma, your aunt, pshh make one for you too! I love having candles burning around the house, don’t you?

XOXO, Chels

Festive Fall Pretzel Bark

Festive Fall Pretzel Bark
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/chelsesa-crockett-Festive-Fall-Pretzel-Bark-.jpg

I get so pumped when stores start putting out candy corn because that means FALL IS HERE. Plus I just love candy corn. Today’s fall inspired recipe combines all of my fall favorites; cranberries, candy corn, pretzels, and white chocolate! I’ll tell you how to whip all of these yummy bits into a mouthwatering mixture.

Ingredients:3b23014ef0c0e096c73c0ad67ccffdac

  • ½ pound chopped white chocolate
  • 1 cup mini pretzels
  • ½ cup candy corn
  • 1/3 cup dried cranberries

Line an 8-inch square baking pan with parchment paper. Leave an overhang on 2 sides of the pan. Melt the chocolate, and then spread it on the prepared pan. Sprinkle it with pretzels, candy corn, and cranberries. Allow it to cool in the fridge for a few hours, then remove the bark from the pan. Break it into pieces, eat a few yourself, and then give the rest away to friends, family, and possibly your favorite teacher. ;)

I feel like this dish is so festive! Thoughts?

XOXO, Chels

Healthy Iced Coffee in a Jiff

Healthy Iced Coffee in a Jiff
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/chelsea-crockett-Healthy-Iced-Coffee-in-a-Jiff-.jpg

Iced coffee is my love. It is refreshing, sweet, and packs an energy punch that gets me over my morning hump. The only issue with iced coffee is that it needs to be brewed at night and then chilled in the fridge overnight so it will be ready for your morning cuppa Joe. Want to save yourself that trouble? Plus, do you want to find out how you can make your coffee HEALTHY? Read on!

Ingredients:creamer_1

  • 1-3 TSP instant coffee grounds
  • Cold water
  • Vanilla almond milk or Soy milk coffee creamer
  • Ice

Mix the coffee grounds with however much cold water you want. Stir stir stir reallllly well so that the grounds dissolve. Then, add vanilla almond milk or soy milk creamer to sweeten your coffee, and then fill the rest of the glass up to the top with ice. I like to make my iced coffee in a mason jar just because it makes me feel rustic and adorable. ;) But a regular travel mug will do just fine!

Because this iced coffee uses healthy sweeteners, it is much better for you than your Starbucks or Dunkin indulgences! Start your day right with your very own iced coffee concoction!

XOXO, Chels

How to Wear A Dress In Cold Weather

How to Wear A Dress In Cold Weather
https://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/Chelsea-Crockett-How-to-Wear-A-Dress-In-Cold-Weather.jpg

Dresses are my favorite! I hate having to slide them to the back of my closet once the cold weather and snow start to hit. Of course, bright colors and sun dresses probably need to be retired, but you don’t have to quit wearing dresses completely! Check out my favorite ways to rock a dress in the freezing cold!Chelsea Crockett- over the knee boot

The typical way to wear a dress in the cold without freezing is with tights, boots, and a jacket. While this style is classic and always accepted, there are a few fun ways to ditch the tights! Have you ever heard of over the knee boots?! These are great to throw on with a dress and show just enough skin that you won’t get too cold! Another interesting way to wear a dress in the winter is with a tight pair of skinnies. This works best with a flannel or sweater dress (I would not recommend this with a tight dress).

When it comes to a jacket, my favorites to wear with a dress are a classic leather bomber jacket or long knee coat. Totally depends on your mood! Don’t give your favorite dress the boot too soon…you’ve just gained yourself a few more months!

Mini Caramel Apples Recipe

Mini Caramel Apples Recipe
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/Chelsea-Crockett-Caramel-Apples.jpg

This recipe for mini caramel apples was too cute to resist! And with autumn right around the corner, why not share a fall-inspired recipe? It’s pretty simple and perfect for a bonfire or Halloween party! Here’s what you need to get started:

First and foremost, you’ll need these ingredients: about 5 of your favorite kind of apples (this can change depending on the amount of people you’ll be serving), caramel (this recipe calls for a pack of the Kraft caramels), and nuts, which are totally optional! You’ll also need a melon baller and some wax paper to lay the caramel apples on at the end.Chelsea Crockett - Mini Caramel Apples

Start by taking the melon baller and scooping out spheres of the apple. Side note: make sure the apples are room temperature. This will help the caramel stick at the end. Next, you have to make your caramel. There are several ways of doing this, just pick your favorite online recipe! Get your wax paper ready and spray it with cooking oil. Punch in sucker sticks into each ball and dip them into the caramel. Make sure the caramel is chilled so it’s slightly thick. This way it won’t slide off as soon as they start to cool.  (This is where you add the nuts if you would like!) Also, leave them sitting out to cool instead of putting them in the fridge. Lastly, enjoy!

Love, Chelsea

Top 3 Nike Must-Haves!

Top 3 Nike Must-Haves!
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/Chelsea-Crockett-Nike-Must-Haves.jpg

I know I’m not the only one who scrolls through Pinterest to find the cutest workout clothes and wants to buy it all. Nike makes the exercise world go around with their endless amount of products that are both quality and stylish. I could go on and go about every cute sweatshirt and each pair of shoes, but I thought I’d narrow it down to three Nike must-haves!

  • One of Nike’s most popular trends right now are Nike Roshes. They’re a different style of shoe that look and feel great! I’m obsessed with all of the different styles and designs. You can even customize your own with NIKEiD! That way you can have a pair you can solely call your own!
  • If you’re a runner, then I’m sure you already have a pair (or two!) of Nike Pro Training shorts.  I’m in love! There are so many different patterns and colors to choose from! They’re great quality so you don’t have to worry about them riding up while you run. All in all, they’re light, stretchy, and stylish… Chelsea Crockett - Nike TurtleneckWhat more could you ask for?
  • This trend was really big last year, and is still super popular for the upcoming cold months! The picture on the right shows a turtleneck zip-up that is perfect for exercising outside once temperatures start to drop. There are tons of sweatshirts and hoodies you can choose from (the one on the right is particularly my favorite!).

What’s your go-to Nike trend? Let me know below lovelies :)!

Raw Stone Accessories

Raw Stone Accessories
https://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/chelsea-crockett-raw-stone-jewelry-.jpg

There is a new jewelry trend that I have been keeping my eye on for a while, and it is raw stone jewelry! I have been really into the “earthy” and “nature” styled look lately and this jewelry encompases both of those attributes. I love the subtle uniqueness of each stone, every piece is different! The pieces are also very simple and understated which I love. Here is how to rock this free spirited trend!

Pendants: Etsy has a TON of raw stone/crystal pendants on their site. A simple stone pendant can add character and uniqueness to any outfit. I recommend pairing a simple flowey top with a stone pendant and dark jeans with suade booties and a felt hat for a free spirited look.raw 3

Rings: These are also very popular on Etsy. If I could I would rock one of these on every finger! I love the subtle earty tone these rings add to your look. You can literally wear these with every outfit!

Crystal cuff: Crystal cuff bracelets are another way to make this trend work for you. Each one is so unique because of the stones featured on them. You can find tons of them on Etsy!

So what are your thoughts? Would YOU wear jewelry that features raw stones? I think the ring is my favorite piece. If you are looking for simple, unique, versitile accessories then raw stone jewelry is definitely for you!

XOXO, Chels

Homemade Cookie Dough Protein Bars

Homemade Cookie Dough Protein Bars
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/chelsea-crockett-homemade-cokie-dough-protein-cars-.jpg

Snacking feels so much better when you are munching on something healthy, am I right? I mean, a Snickers bar tastes reaaaaaally good while you are eating it, but afterwards, if you’re like me, you feel totally guilty and like you need to eat a carrot to make up for it. Save yourself the guilt and make some of these cookie dough protein bars to snack on instead!

Ingredients:

  • 6 tbsp coconut flour
  • 6 tbsp soy protein powderbars-main
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp melted coconut oil
  • 9 tbsp unsweetened vanilla almond milk
  • 1 ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 tbsp Truvia sweetener
  • 1 ½ tsp Stevia powder sweetener
  • 2 tbsp mini chocolate chips

Line a 9x5” bread pan with parchment paper. In a small bowl whisk together the coconut flour, salt, and protein powder. In another bowl whisk the coconut oil, milk and vanilla together. Stir in the sweeteners and then add the flour mixture, making sure it is all mixed together. Mix in the chocolate chips. The dough will be crumbly. Pour it into the pan and press it across the bottom using a spatula. Chill for 2 hours, slice into bars, and eat up! This recipe is low fat, low calorie, high protein and sugar free!

Protein never tasted so good!

XOXO, Chels

Why Mineral Makeup works Miracles

Why Mineral Makeup works Miracles
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/Why-mineral-makeup-works-miracles-.jpg

I have been aware of mineral makeup for a while, and I had heard it was so good for your skin, but I never really looked into it. But, recently a dermatologist told me that the reason I am having trouble getting rid of some of my pesky acne is because of my foundation! A lot of times drugstore foundations contain dyes and perfumes and can foster bacteria. Stay tuned to hear why you should make the switch to mineral makeup!mineral-makeup-300x292

Mineral makeup is composed of inorganic minerals and is oil free so it doesn’t promote bacteria growth- Hooray! If you have acne prone skin then this is very important. It is also great for people with sensitive skin because it does not contains harsh perfumes or dyes like I mentioned above. Mineral makeup contains zinc oxide and titanium dioxide, which are both natural sunscreens that provide sun protection against those harsh rays. Another cool aspect is that titanium dioxide has a high light refraction index, which means it reflects light, even higher than that of a diamond! This helps reduce the appearance of skin blemishes and even gives you a glow!

Mineral makeup also offers you great coverage, a natural finish, and a smooth appearance! Although it is a little more expensive than your traditional foundation and powder I think that it is worth it. Think of all the money you will save on acne medicines!

I love the look, feel and finish that mineral makeup gives me. I give it a perfect 10!

XOXO,Chels

Balancing Emotions

Balancing Emotions
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/Chelsea-Crockett-balancing-emotions.jpg

Emotions are a crazy thing. One moment you’re happy, the next moment you’re sad; one second you’re loving life, the next you’re angry at the world. What is going on?! Learning how to balance emotions is tricky, but it can be done. Once you’ve learned how to control the way you feel, life will be a much happier place!Chelsea Crockett- worry

  1. When I am feeling stressed, upset, or unappreciated I always turn to my Bible. It reassures me that I am loved, taken care of, and that God will take care of anything that is worrying me.
  2. Make a list of everything you are thankful for. Every time you are sad or angry, read the list. You will realize how much you should be grateful for.
  3. Surround yourself with people that lift you up! If you notice a friend that is always negative or putting you down, it’s time to drop them. If they aren’t doing anything to benefit your life, it’s time to move on.
  4. Go for a run! Running releases endorphins, which, in the simple sense, makes your brain happy.
  5. Take time for yourself. I understand that school, work, sports, family, and friends can be a lot to handle at once, but it’s important to take time to breathe. Set aside 30 minutes to 1 hour a day to watch your favorite show, do a DIY project, or just hangout!

Life is good, so let’s spend it happily!

Spin for Perfect Skin!

Spin for Perfect Skin!
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/Chelsea-Crockett-Spin-for-Perfect-Skin.jpg

As most of you know, I recently attended Beautycon LA in July. It was such a fun weekend and definitely the best Beautycon I have ever experienced! Every time we go to one of these events, we come home with lots of goodies such as makeup and face products. This past trip, my goodie bag had a Face & Body Brush by My Life My Shop in it. I wanted to give a little review of this awesome product! Chelsea Crockett - The Spin Brush

Once you receive the product, you’ll find four different attachments for the brush. Each one has a different purpose. The first one is a cleansing facial brush and the second is an exfoliating facial brush. You have to be gentle with your skin while using them both. Using either of them too much can hurt your skin, so make sure to use them gently, especially the exfoliating brush (and especially if you have sensitive skin!). If you do so, your skin will look fab! The amount of acne on my face started to decrease, especially surface acne. It really works! As for the other two attachments, one is a pumice stone and the other is a body brush. Both are perfect for pampering and polishing your body. You can use it in the shower without worrying about it getting damaged by water. You’ll have to try it out for yourself!

XOXO - Chelsea
