How to Nurture Your Long Distance Relationship

How to Nurture Your Long Distance Relationship
https://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/chelsea-crockett-how-to-nurture-your-long-distance-relationship.jpg

As most of you know, I am in a long-distance relationship. My boyfriend lives down South, and I live in the Midwest. Long-distance is not easy. At all. When you miss your boo, you can’t just drive over to their house and hang. Sometimes we go months at a time without seeing each other in person. Facetime and social media keep it way easier to keep in touch, which is awesome, but there are other ways to keep your relationship strong despite the distance. Here are a few tips, from one long distance-er to another.

Make plans and keep them: This isn’t just plans to travel and see each other. This can be plans to have a Skype date, plans to make dinner together while on the phone, plans to start and finish the same book. This keeps us from feeling like it has been a long time since we saw each other and helps make the time pass faster. It is always fun having something to look forward too! And when you make plans, keep them, just like you would with an actual date.

Be as open and honest as possible: We all know how easy it is to misinterpret messages. When you are feeling sad, lonely, hurt, confused, or just missing your guy, tell him! And make sure he feels he can do the same to you. It is easy to feel neglected or put on the back burner when you are both so busy and have two separate lives. That is why it is so important to be intentional about having meaningful conversations and opening up to one another.

Give them something to remember you by: Whether it is a little note that you stick in his wallet that reminds him how you feel about him, or an item that he can use all the time and remember you by, like a watch. Little reminders of your affection will keep the spark alive and be great reminders of how much you care.

Long distance is tough, but it is also worth it.

Have you ever been in a long-distance relationship? How did YOU make it work? Comment below!

XOXO, Chels

Healthy Pumpkin Pie Smoothie

Healthy Pumpkin Pie Smoothie
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/chelsea-crockett-Healthy-Pumpkin-Pie-Smoothie.jpg

The pumpkin patches where I live are open, which has me craving everything pumpkin. Pumpkin pie, pumpkin coffee, and even pumpkin ice cream! This next recipe is the best of both worlds – it is a healthy snack AND a pumpkin flavored treat. You can even drink it for breakfast. Pumpkin pie first thing in the morning? Count me in!

Ingredients:

  • 1 frozen banana

  • 1 cup pumpkin puree

  • ½ cup Greek yogurt

  • ½ cup milk (regular or almond)

  • 1 teaspoon pumpkin spice

  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

  • Pinch of salt

  • Graham cracker for toppings

Place all of the ingredients except the graham crackers into your blender. Blend until smooth and then pour into a glass and top with graham cracker crumbs.

YUM! It’s like fall in a cup.

Candy Corn Milk Shakes

Candy Corn Milk Shakes
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/Chelsea-Crockett-Candy-Corn-Milk-Shake-1.jpg

Candy corn. It’s EVERYWHERE! Luckily, I am somewhat of an addict so it doesn’t bother me one bit. In fact, I embrace it, and try to make everything I can with it! Here are some candy corn inspired milk shakes that are sure to rock your world.

Ingredients:
– 1 quart vanilla ice creamCandy-Corn1-jpg
– 1 quart orange sherbet
– Whipped cream or Cool Whip

  • Yellow Food Coloring

  • Black yellow & orange sprinkles

Let the vanilla ice cream soften for about 25 minutes outside of the freezer. After it is softened take 1/3 of the ice cream and put it into a bowl. Put the ice cream back in the freezer. Add yellow food coloring to the ice cream in the bowl until you have the color you want. Mix it well. Take your orange sherbet out of the freezer to allow it to start softening. Get out the glasses you will be serving your milk shakes in, whether it is mason jars or glass drinking glasses, and spoon yellow ice cream into the bottoms, filling the cups about 1/3 full. After smoothing out the top as evenly as you can, wipe down the inside of the cups with a paper towel to remove ice cream streaks. Place your cups in the freezer for about 5-10 minutes to let the layer harden a little. Take your vanilla ice cream out of the freezer again to allow it to start softening. Remove the cups from the freezer and carefully spoon in the orange sherbet, layering it on top of the yellow and filling the cups about 2/3 full. Again, smooth out the top. Wipe the excess on the inside of the cups with a paper towel. Place the cups back in the freezer for 5-10 minutes. Remove the cups from the freezer and add the last layer of vanilla ice cream, filling the cups with 1/2 inch left at the top of the cup. Smooth out the tops again. If you want you can top them off with some whipped cream and sprinkles! Keep them in the freezer until you serve them.

They’re sure to be a hit at every Halloween party on the block!

How to Wear Skinnies with Ankle Boots

How to Wear Skinnies with Ankle Boots
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/chelsea-crockett-How-to-Wear-Skinnies-with-Ankle-Boots.jpg

Hip hip hooray for ankle boot season! Ankle boots are a breed of boots that look best with a specific style of jeans: skinny jeans. Knee boots can be paired with a plethora of jean styles, but skinny jeans work best with our beloved ankle booties. Here are my tips on how to wear/style ankle booties this season.

  1. Flat and fabulous: Most of the ankle booties I own have a bit of a heal to them, but I am really digging the flat bottomed bootie this season! It is subtle and simple. Pair flat ankle booties with skinnies, a patterned button up shirt, and a leather jacket for a stylish, easy ensemble.skinnies

  2. Roll it, don’t scrunch it: Rather than shoving the hem of jeans that are too long into your boots, roll the cuffs! This is a cute alternative to letting them bunch or awkwardly pop out of the tops of your boots. If your favorite jeans have a bit of a flare to them at the bottom, just roll ‘em up!

  3. Be aware of your hemline: This goes for all booties. As a rule of thumb, make sure the hem of your jeans hit about an inch above your ankle. This ensures your jeans are at the perfect length to show of those cute booties!

What are your favorite ways to style ankle booties this season?

How to Slow Down Your Crazy Life

How to Slow Down Your Crazy Life
https://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/chelsea-crockett-How-to-Slow-Down-Your-Crazy-Life.jpg

Life is crazy. Crazy busy, that is. We have jobs, school, church, family, friends, relationships and everything in-between competing for our attention. We rarely take the time to just slow down and take life in. Our lives are in constant fast-forward, and we try to cram as much as we can into the day as we can. We are constantly connected to each other, and I blame this for some of the craziness. Even when we are sitting watching a movie, half the time we are on our computer and texting also. The whole life-in-fast-forward thing really bugs me. You only get one life, so why not slow it down and enjoy as much as you can of it? Here are a few ways to slow down and enjoy life.

  1. Do one thing at a time: Like I said earlier, lots of times when we are watching tv we are also on our phone, checking email, eating, and maybe 3 other things at once as well. Turn things off and focus on one thing at a time so you can really enjoy it!

  2. Take time to enjoy your hobbies: Block off some time and do something you love! Life isn’t all about work. Go on a run, read a chapter of a book, start a drawing, play the piano for a few minutes, take a break from life and do things that make you happy!

  3. Disconnect: Put your phone in a drawer and leave it there. Being connected to other people 24/7 via your phone is #1 exhausting and #2 doesn’t allow you any time to have “me” time and time to slow down. Only check your social media once or twice a day. You will be amazed how much time you have for other things when you limit yourself to that.

  4. Stop rushing around: Rushing around = stressful. Leave the house early to avoid the stress of running late and having to rush.

I need to take a dose of my own advice and slow down, too. Life can be so much more enjoyable when you stop and smell the roses and take the scenic route.

Life Lessons from John 15:12

Life Lessons from John 15:12
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/chelsea-crockett-life-lessons-from-john-15-12.jpg

In John 15:12 the Bible tells us to “Love each other as I have loved you.” It is easy to love your family and friends (most of the time at least 😉 ) but it is not always easy to love those who have done you wrong. So, how do we love everyone, even those we dislike, like God loved us? And why should we?

Easy. Because God says so. I know that is the most “Bible” answer ever, but it is the truth. We should love others like God loves us, because it shows that we are different. When people see how differently you treat others and how you love others, they will be curious as to what it is that makes you different. Jesus is the difference! It is the fact that you know you should love people like God loves you. God loves you even though you have disappointed Him, even though you sin, even though you sometimes do or say things that are harmful or hurtful to others. This is how you should love others, in spite of their flaws and sins. Now, this doesn’t mean you have to be their BFF, it just means you need to treat them with respect and love, just as God treats you.

You will change people’s lives when you love them as God loves you. It is so different from how the world is used to being treated. Be different, and make a difference.

Faith To-Do List

Faith To-Do List
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/chelsea-crockett-faith-to-do-list.jpg

As Christians, we have an everyday “faith to-do list.” This list includes things that we should strive to encompass on a daily basis, and these

are things that are laid out in the Bible. The Bible is an awesome source for a life “to-do” list. I have this list printed out and display it in my room to help encourage me to keep my walk with Christ strong.

  1. Wait patiently – Psalm 27:14

  2. Have faith – 2 Corinthians 5:7

  3. Pray – Philippians 4:6

  4. Think of others – Philippians 2:4

  5. Trust in the Lord – Proverbs 3:5

  6. Read God’s word – Psalm 119:12

  7. Give Thanks – Psalm 136

Jesus gave us the best possible guidebook for life. He lays it all out for us. Life can be tough. Thank goodness we aren’t going through it alone!

The 4 R’s Devotional Plan

The 4 R’s Devotional Plan
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/Chelsea-Crockett-Bible.jpg

Different bible studies and devotional plans are my favorite things to put into practice for my quiet times with God.  I love finding one that gives me the most refreshing quiet times where God directly speaks to me through it!  Here’s a 4 R’s devotional plan that I find extremely refreshing!

  • Read.  The first step is pretty self-explanatory.  Pick a passage or chapter of the Bible that you want to dive into, and read it a few times through.  Make sure you gain a full understanding of what you’re reading to get the most out of it!

  • Record.  This step requires picking out which verses speak to you or have greater importance than the others.  Write down the key verses or concepts of the passage.  Highlight your favorite verse and maybe even challenge yourself to memorize it!

  • Reflect.  This part is the easy step.  You can either spend time simply thinking about the passage and trying to gain a deeper understanding of what you wrote.  Or you can write down what you think each part of the passage means if writing things down is more your style! 🙂

  • Respond.  Now comes the application.  Take what you wrote down and think of how you can apply it to your life.  If the passage is about forgiveness, think of how you can be more forgiving in your daily life.  And again, write it down!

I hope you love this plan as much as I do!

5 Tips for Dating in Today’s Culture

5 Tips for Dating in Today’s Culture
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/Chelsea-Crockett-Relationships.jpg

Dating today is completely different from what it used to be.  We now have to take into account social media, texting, and lots of other things that can cause too many problems in today’s relationships.  Here are five dating tips that can be super helpful in today’s culture!

  • Keep your communication face to face.  If you have to talk about something important or sort something out, don’t do it over the phone!  It is so important being able to talk about the deep stuff face to face instead of texting it out.  It’ll make your relationship 10x closer.

  • Don’t think too far into social media posts.  Girls are over-thinkers as it is but overanalyzing something as simple as a tweet can drive us crazy!  Don’t dwell on something as little as a post that most likely isn’t what you think it is in the first place.

  • Be honest.  I know this is kind of vague and should already be assumed, but simply be honest and open with one another!  Honesty is the best policy and it shouldn’t be overlooked.

  • Make it a point to see each other frequently.  In today’s culture, people substitute facetiming, calling, and texting for hanging out with their boyfriend or girlfriend, and that’s not okay!  Don’t let phones be the core of your relationship.

  • Be intentional.  Like I mentioned before, make it a point to talk to each other and see each other.  Go out of your way to do something nice for them occasionally, too!

I hope these tips give you some clarity on how you can lessen the effect today’s culture has on your relationship!

Life Lessons from Psalm 73:26

Life Lessons from Psalm 73:26
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/chelsea-crockett-life-lessons-from-psalm-73-26.jpg

When all else fails, God doesn’t. That’s what Psalm 73:26 tells us. “My flesh may fail, but God is the strength of my heart; He is mine forever”

It is inevitable. People will fail you. They will disappoint you. Your body will get sick and your mind will make you doubt yourself. This life is tough! But that’s why God gave us the Bible, so that we can read it and be encouraged. He reminds us that when all else fails, when we are discouraged and feel helpless, God won’t fail us. He is our strength. He is with us forever. How awesome is that? We will fail a lot in this life. What’s important is that we put our Faith and Trust in God because He will never fail.

Don’t let your failures define you, because the one that made you never makes mistakes. You are the way you are because He made you that way! You are perfect in His sight.

XOXO, Chels

Caramel Apple Slice Popsicles

Caramel Apple Slice Popsicles
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/chelsea-crockett-Caramel-Apple-Slice-Popsicles.jpg

Happy (almost) fall y’all! The weather where I live is starting to change and get cooler, and I love it. You can smell fall in the air! Pumpkin spiced everything is back, the leaves are starting to change, fall is just the best! Caramel apples are another deliciously wonderful thing about autumn. The only problem with them is that they are so messy and hard to eat. Here is an easy way to enjoy caramel apples in a bite-sized

way!

Ingredients:

  • 2 very large Fuji apples

  • 3 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil

  • 1 cup caramels, melted

  • Chopped pecans

  • Popsicle sticks

Slice the apples into half inch slices. Remove the seeds. Melt chocolate in microwave for 2 minutes, then stir in coconut oil until smooth. Dip the apple slices in chocolate and place them on a parchment paper lined cookie sheet. Place the caramels in a glass bowl and microwave for 40-60 seconds. Stir until smooth, and drizzle the melted caramel over the apples and sprinkle with nuts. Refrigerate them for an hour, then enjoy!

This is perfect for when you have a sweet tooth but don’t want to make the commitment to a whole desert.

Wear White Jeans this Fall

Wear White Jeans this Fall
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/chelsea-crockett-wear-white-jeans-this-fall.jpg

Who says you cannot wear white after Labor Day? I petition that we throw that rule out the door! Why put those perfectly good white jeans

away for the fall/winter when you could rock them all year long? Here are my favorite ways to wear white jeans in the fall.

  1. With a neutral sweater: If you are looking for a casual outfit to wear to school, pair your white skinnies with a neutral colored oversized sweater. I actually love a ripped pair of white skinnies with this outfit. Pair with some ankle booties for a cozy, casual cold weather look.

  2. With a jean jacket: A dark jean jacket adds so much dimension to a simple outfit. Pair white jeans, a simple gray shirt, and a denim jacket for a simple, sweet fall look. Toss in some suede booties to complete the ensemble!

  3. With gingham: Gingam was huge this summer, and it will totally carry into the cooler weather seasons. It is so classy and cute and vintange and just all around adorable! Tuck a gingham button up into your white jeans, or just tuck in the front and let the rest of the shirt hang loose, and layer in a thin tan belt. I would wear some white Keds sneakers with this duo for a classic, timeless combo.

People will forget the phrase “don’t wear white past Labor Day” when they see how cute you look in your fall white jeans ensembles!

Tips from the Pros: How to Beat Acne Fast

Tips from the Pros: How to Beat Acne Fast
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/Chelsea-Crockett-Clear-Skin-Tips.jpg

I know for me, I can never have too many tips on how to beat acne.  It’s something that I struggle with day-by-day and I’m sure a lot of you do too!  Sometimes all we can do is look to the pros for some professional tips and advice.  Here are a few ways to beat acne fast by people that know what they’re talking about!

  • Always, always, always wash your face before bed.  If you can’t find enough motivation to do this, at least take off your makeup.  Bacteria, dirt, and oil can sit in your pores overnight and cause much bigger problems to your skin than you think!

  • Don’t over-wash your face.  Yes, washing your face is crucial, but washing it too much can actually have the opposite effect!  It can leave your skin dry and brittle which will hurt your skin and make it start to flake.

  • Leave your pimples alone.  If you continue to pop your pimples or pick at them, they can get very irritated, very fast.  If you simply leave them alone, they’ll go away at their own pace without pain or scarring!

  • Keep oil-absorbing sheets in your purse.  Oily skin can be one of the most annoying things.  It makes it harder for your makeup to stay on and leaves your skin looking overly shiny.  Keep a few oil-absorbing sheets in your purse to blot off any excess oil!

Hopefully these are some good tips that help you in your times of breakouts!  I know they helped me! 🙂

How to Prioritize God in Your Life

How to Prioritize God in Your Life
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/Chelsea-Crockett-Putting-God-First.jpg

Prioritizing God is a priority in itself.  For me, I always try to put God above everything else in my life, whether it be my friends, my relationship, school, etc.  Although it can be hard, it is so so important and you will see the benefits of knowing God on a deeper level!  Here are a few ways that work for me when I’m struggling with prioritizing God!

  • Set your eyes on the prize and know that you have an amazing reward waiting for you in heaven.  If you think about standing before God one day, you’ll want to truly know him on such a deep and personal level!

  • Set your focus and write it on paper.  I fully believe that writing something down will truly help you stick to it.  Focus on your spiritual goals and how you want to grow in your faith, then write it down!

  • Schedule your time each day or week, and again, write it down.  If you have a planner, write down when you’ll spend time with God each day.  It will really help you stick to your plan and get in your quiet times daily! 🙂

  • Set up accountability.  Accountability is so much more important than you realize.  Go out of your way to find someone that will check up on you and make sure you’re putting God first.  Sometimes having a little extra help isn’t a bad thing!

I hope this helps you figure out how you can put God first in your life!

How to Get Rid of Toxic People

How to Get Rid of Toxic People
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/Chelsea-Crockett-Toxic-People.jpg

Toxic people are often hard to get away from.  Whether its due to relationships, being in the same friend group, or simply dating the wrong person, having toxic people in your life can be both draining and exhausting.  Most of us leave these people in our lives because we simply don’t know how to get away from them.  Here’s how you can separate yourself from these people in a kind and mature way!

  • Distance yourself.  Although this doesn’t always work for every situation, it does work for some.  Slowly backing away from the situation really can work.  It’s a good way to get some air and realize what you really want, whether it be in a relationship or with a close friend.

  • Pray for strength.  Prayer is powerful and I’m a strong believer that God provides when you ask him for something.  Sometimes we just need the strength to cut ties with someone and know that it really is for the best.

  • Surround yourself with people who build you up.  Surrounding yourself with good people while trying to distance yourself from the opposite is one of the best distractions.  It shows you the people you deserve to have in your life!  Know your worth!

  • Be bold and determined.  I know it’s easier said than done, but having the courage to know what you deserve in your life is something we should all believe about ourselves.  Changing your mindset to having the boldness to get rid of toxic people in your life is one of the most freeing feelings ever!

I hope you have enough courage to break away from the people bringing you down in your life! 🙂

Shopping Hacks: How to Become a Better Shopper

Shopping Hacks: How to Become a Better Shopper
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/Chelsea-Crockett-Shopping-Hacks.jpg

Shopping is one of my favorite pastimes.  Whether it’s at my favorite clothing boutiques, makeup stores, or even online, I like to get the most out of my time and especially my money!  There are lots of different tips for becoming a better shopper, whether it’s waiting for the right deals or seasonal sales.  Here are some useful tips for you to know next time you go shopping!

  • Tax-Free Weekends.  Depending on the state you live in, this weekend is one of the biggest shopping weekends of the year!  Especially on big purchases, you can get things like iPhones, laptops, etc. for so much cheaper than you would on a regular weekend!

  • Seasonal Sales.  These sales are some of the biggest and best deals you can possibly find.  Anything from back-to-school sales to Black Friday deals, you can find almost any store with lots of ways to save!

  • Coupons.  You might think these are super old fashioned, but every little bit of money saved counts!  As surprising as it is, a lot of stores still offer different coupons online and right when you walk in the store.  So, keep an eye out!

  • Rewards Programs.  Almost every one of my favorite stores has a rewards program that gives me exclusive discounts every time I come in.  Most of them are free, so take advantage of them and sign up!

I hope these tips help you out on your next fun-filled day of shopping!

How to Find Your Passion in Life

How to Find Your Passion in Life
https://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/chelsea-crockett-How-to-Find-Your-Passion-in-Life.jpg

We all get stuck sometimes. Stuck where we feel like our life is not going the way we thought it would, or it is not really going anywhere at all. Maybe you are in a job that you really don’t like. Or maybe what you are studying in school isn’t turning out to be as great as you thought it would be. In these times it is important to stop and reflect and remember what you are passionate about and what you love in life. This is not as easy as it sounds, but here are a few ways to help you get there.

  1. Be present: It is easy to put yourself on “autopilot” and just go through the motions of every day. One day we will realize that years have passed and we may feel like we have missed out on doing the things we love to do! Start paying attention and living in the present. Take time to notice what is going on and where you are in life.

  2. Pay attention to how you feel: To find your passions and discover what you love in life, you must let yourself feel things. How will you know what you are passionate about if you shut off feelings of joy and appreciation and excitement? Those emotions can be hard to let ourselves feel because we think that if we let them in, they will probably lead to disappointment. Not always the case.

  3. Learn to put yourself first sometimes: It is important to think about others, but it is also important to give yourself value as well. Finding your passion is about finding yourself, so learn to put yourself first when you need to.

  4. Take pride in your accomplishments and your abilities: Realize what you are good at it, and don’t minimize it. Be proud of it! Find out who you are and what you are good at by “dating yourself.” Ask yourself questions like you were on a date with yourself and were wanting to get to know you. This will help you realize your skills and talents. Brag on yourself a bit!

  5. Write it all down and reflect: Keep track of your thoughts from #4. Write down what you have learned about yourself and use that to help you find what you are passionate about and what you love in life.

And lastly, pray about it! God will reveal to you what you seek if you ask Him, and He will do it when He knows the time is right. Finding your passion can give you so much joy and fulfillment! When you are doing the things you love, life is good. When I realized that my passion was speaking to others about Christ and giving advice, it changed my life.

Tips for Growing Your Hair Long and Strong

Tips for Growing Your Hair Long and Strong
https://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/chelsea-crockett-Tips-for-Growing-Your-Hair-Long-and-Strong.jpg

When I was in the first few years of high school my hair was crazy long. I loved it, but I wanted a change, so I cut it all off and tried a shoulder-length style. It was cute, but MAN did I miss my long hair! So, I started doing tons of research on how to grow my hair faster and stronger. Did you get a haircut that you hate or are you trying to grow out your locks? Here are the tips that helped me the most.

  1. Practice patience: Your hair won’t grow to mermaid length overnight, I am sorry to say. Hair only grows a quarter of an inch, a half inch at maximum, a month. And that is only if you keep it healthy and doesn’t have tons of split ends. This means that scissors are your friend! Getting regular trims will prevent those split ends. My hairdresser recommends getting an eighth of an inch trimmed off every 10-12 weeks.

  2. More conditioner, less shampoo: Coloring and heat styling our hair dries it out tremendously. Conditioner helps replace the proteins inside the hair shaft and seals the cuticle from damage. Deep conditioners a lifesaver, especially the oil based ones. Also, don’t shampoo every time you shower. Never skip conditioner, but skip shampoo as much as possible. I know that sounds weird! But shampoo washes away the good oils on our scalps. When you really do need to shampoo, be gentle with your strands and only lather up your scalp, not the ends.

  3. Be healthy: Your body requires many important nutrients to create new hair. Eating a balanced diet helps your hair grow strong, and so do supplements like biotin. Do your research and see if a supplement is right for you.

  4. Be gentle: Brush your hair from tip to root to avoid bringing tangles down the shaft. Also, brush your hair like it is made from glass, so super gently. Never wrap your hair in a towel turban to dry it. This breaks the hair and is rough on it! Also, at the end of every shower, rinse your hair with cold water. This helps the outer layer of the hair lay down smooth and prevents moisture loss and heat damage.

Hopefully these tips help you grow out your locks as much as they helped me!

Candy Corn Sugar Scrub

Candy Corn Sugar Scrub
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/chelsea-crockett-candy-corn-sugar-scrub.jpg

For most people cool weather = dry skin. Dry skin = bad news. Sugar scrubs are one of my favorite dry skin remedies because they smell heavenly and make my skin feel incredibly smooth. To celebrate the start of the cool-weather seasons, aka FALL YA’LL, here is a recipe for pumpkin vanilla sugar scrub! It layers vanilla scrub with vanilla-pumpkin scrub to create a “candy corn” look. What could be more festive than that?

Ingredients

  • Vanilla Sugar Scrub
    • 1 cup sugar

    • 1/4 cup coconut oil

    • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • Vanilla- Pumpkin Sugar Scrub
    • 2 cups sugar

    • 1/2 cup coconut oil

    • 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice

    • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

    • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

    • 1/8 teaspoon ground clove

    • Optional: red and yellow liquid food coloring

Vanilla Sugar Scrub:

Heat the coconut oil on the stove until it is melted. Add in the vanilla extract and stir until fully combined. Add vanilla and coconut mixture to the sugar and stir.

Vanilla-Pumpkin Sugar Scrub:

Heat the coconut oil on the stove until it is melted. Add in the spices and vanilla, and stir until fully combined. Add the liquid to the sugar and stir it together. Right now the mixture will be a light brown color. Divide it into two bowls for coloring if you want it to look like candy corn!

  • To create the yellow layer
    • 4 drops of yellow food coloring

  • To create the orange layer
    • 4 drops of yellow and 3 drops of red for the red layer.

    • No worries, this amount of food coloring will not color your skin!

Scrub that dry skin away, and smell like a pumpkin pie while doing it. I call that a win-win. 😉

XOXO, Chels
