Chocolate Dipped Frozen Bananas

Chocolate Dipped Frozen Bananas

I LOVE bananas. I also, like most girls, love me some chocolate. Luckily, my next recipe combines the two! Here is a sweet summertime snack that is sure to cool you down and tame your sweet tooth.


Ingredients:frozen-bananas-1


  • 5 large bananas

  • 10 wooden sticks

  • 24 ounces semi-sweet chocolate, chopped

  • Fun toppings like nuts or sprinkles

Peel the bananas and cut them in half so you have 10 banana slices. Skewer the cut end of each banana with a wooden stick and place them on a lined baking sheet. Freeze them for about an hour. While they are freezing, place your chopped chocolate chips in a bowl and microwave them for 30 seconds, then stir, then melt them again for 30 seconds and do this process until they are smooth. Place the banana toppings into bowls. Once your bananas are frozen, take one at a time and hold them over the chocolate bowl, using a large spoon to cover the bananas. Act quickly when covering them and dipping them in toppings, because the chocolate hardens fast! After they are covered, lay them back on the baking sheet.


Now you are ready to enjoy! This is a fun warm weather treat to make with your friends, and it is even more fun to devour them!

Smooth on sunscreen: Protecting yourself from the sun is crucial, even when the sun is not out! Apply a nickel sized amount of sunscreen on your face every day, along with the spf in your moisturizer or your foundation! You can also use spf on your lips and neck and back of your hands.


Hydrate: Dehydration can cause you to be sluggish and can also mess with your skin! Start your day with a big glass of water.


Apply antioxidants: Use vitamin E and C on your face to help protect your skin against aging free radicals found in UV rays and pollution. They also supplement your sunscreen and give you a beautiful glow.

Every color is important in a wardrobe, but the colors of the season are the real eye-catchers!  Each season has its own special colors that show up on the runway and end up in every store!  Here are the colors of the summer and how you can incorporate them in your wardrobe!Chelsea Crockett- sea form green bikini


It’s all about the ocean!  Called the “Aquamarine” trend on the runways, sea foam green and aqua blue are two of the brightest colors to hit stores this summer.  Try a fun sea foam green bikini or aqua blue maxi with gold accessories.  Also, ditch the tight dresses and opt for a flowy, princess-like dress.  Another one of my favorite color trends is classic navy blue.  Navy, denim blue isn’t just for your jeans anymore!  Try a navy blouse with dark shorts or maxi skirt for an all over classic look.  Surprisingly enough, navy can actually make you look tanner!  You can even try pairing it with nude or tan (another 2015 summer color).


With the Boho trend still on the rise, reddish brown has made a big comeback!  Try wearing it with an oversized tee, denim shorts, and leather booties.  It also looks great with a boho style dress or crochet top.  There are so many possibilities with these wonderful summer colors.  Comment below which one of these colors you’ll be rocking this summer!

A rockin’ pair of shades… DUH!  Every girl needs a great pair of fun and stylish sunglasses.  Here’s a look Chelsea Crockett - Sunglassesat the latest trends for sunglasses for 2015.  Aviators and Wayfarers are always popular…you can never go wrong with them.  However, this season’s frames are taking on a more geometric frame with muted colors.  Don’t be afraid to super-size them!


If you are in the mood to be bold, colorful frames with ombré hues are also trendy this summer.  Feel free to give them a go if you dare :).  Another look making a comeback is retro styles that are chic and glamorous from the 60’s and 70’s.  Pair them with a fresh, cool outfit and you’ll love your new look.

Love makes the world go round. There’s love within your family, within your friends, and maybe even love within someone special! It’s one of the biggest things in my life, whether it’s how I treat someone or how I approach a situation. But… love is also one of the most controversial topics to exist!Chelsea Crockett - Corinthians 16


The Bible is the first place I look for advice, especially on this subject. Luckily, 1 Corinthians 13 has all I need to know. Here’s what verses 4-7 say: “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”


These verses rank up there with some of my favorite in the Bible. I think everyone can learn from them. Ask yourself, “Am I patient with those I love?” “Am I selfish with those I love?” I know I catch myself hundreds of times growing impatient with my parents or getting jealous of a friend, etc. That’s not how it should be! It’s hard to change, but with prayer it’s possible :).


The last verse of 1 Corinthians 13 says, “And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love.” Like I said, it makes the world go round!

I think we all can agree that Netflix is pretty great… but we use it for procrastinating way too much (at least I do!). But during the summer, when there’s endless hours of lying in bed, what’s to procrastinate? The only problem with Netflix is finding what show to spend those hours watching!


I can binge watch episodes of a show for hours (oops!), but when I finish a season I have a hard time picking a new show to watch! Know the feeling? Well if you’re into crime shows and mysteries Law & Order SVU is the only way to go. It’s super intense and has a new mysterious crime every episode! I’m pretty good at guessing who did it from the start :).


So I know I’ve gone on rants about Gossip Girl and One Tree Hill, but what about 90210?!Chelsea Crockett - Greys Anatomy If you like the other “chick flick” shows, then you’re sure to like this one. It basically follows the lives of a group of friends living the privileged life in West Beverly, hints the name of the show (it’s the Beverly Hills zip code!). It shows how their lives change going through high school, college, and so on.


Especially recently, you’ve probably heard all the buzz about Grey’s Anatomy, which is currently on TV! This show is ADDICTING. Not all seasons are on Netflix yet because it’s still on TV, but you can at least start!


Don’t forget to get outside and enjoy the fresh air in between episodes :).

Who knew that the same substance that puts a little pep in your step could do the same for your skin! Little did I know that coffee can actually remove the upper layer of dead skin and also provide your skin with antioxidants that help boost circulation and brighten your skin. Here is how to use coffee to cleanse your skin.

  • Coffee grounds

  • Face cleanser

  • Olive oil or coconut oil

One way to use coffee to cleanse your face is to mix coffee grounds with your usual face cleanser. Wet your face and neck, then massage the mixture into your skin. Leave it on for about 5 minutes, and then rinse it off. You can also make a cleanser from olive oil or coconut oil and coffee grounds. Mix a teaspoon of warm olive or coconut oil with coffee grounds and use it to exfoliate on your skin. Use it all over your body for soft, smooth, rejuvenated skin!

Pimples are NOT my best friend. They are, in fact, my worst enemy. They can single handedly ruin my day with their appearance. Ok, maybe I am being a bit dramatic, but still. Zits are just not okay. Here are a few ways to zap those pesky pimples out of your life.f6df997968d047b29c60237984d1f795


  1. Use Advil on them: Cut open an Advil liquid gel and dab the liquid on your pimple to reduce its size when you are in a time crunch and need a quick fix.

  2. Use a baking soda mask: Create a paste with baking soda and water to help reduce the size and frequency of your breakouts.

  3. Vitamin E: Crack open a vitamin E gel and use it just like the Advil liquid gel!

  4. Neosporin: Neosporin is an antibacterial ointment and acne is caused by bacteria.

Kick pesky pimples to the curb!

Being a high school student can be rough. We are supposed to go to school, have jobs, do extracurriculars, and still have time to hang with family and friends. It can be overwhelming! Also, as high school students, we are usually strapped for cash. Here are a few fun things to do that won’t break the bank!


  1. Rearrange your furniture: I love rearranging the furniture in my room! It keeps things interesting.

  3. Have a movie marathon with close friends.

  4. Practice new makeup looks: This has me written all over it

  5. Go sightseeing…in your own city: Act like a tourist in your own city. You will be surprised at how much you didn’t actually know about the very place you live!

  7. Go on a bike ride.

  8. Take a nap: My personal fav!

  9. Volunteer for a local organization.

  10. Start a DIY project.

  11. Write a bucket list

  12. Have a bonfire.

  13. Watch home movies.

  14. Organize your makeup

  15. Make old jeans into shorts: Goodwill here we come!

See? Having fun doesn’t require wads of cash! All you need is a creative mind and maybe a few pals.

Ladies, can you think of one male style trend that drives you nuts? I am not a big fan of guys wearing high Nike socks with sandals. Gross. Guys look at some of our style choices in the same way, and their opinions are actually pretty amusing! Now, you should not let a guy’s opinion dictate the way you feel about yourself or your style choices, this list is just purely for fun and for you to get a little look into the male brain!


  1. Bangs: Some guys comment that bangs make them think of “mom hair.” I personally love bangs! But, some guys say FB3A9990-X2they are no bueno. Some guys even say bangs make girls look intimidating!

  2. Too-tight hair: When you pull your hair back too tight, like in a tight ponytail or bun, guys say it makes them feel like the girl is a major tomboy. But hey, if that is your thing, keep rockin it!

  3. Fragrance to the max: Don’t get me wrong, smelling great is always a must! But, If your boyfriend is being choked by your fragrance, you might need to tone it down a smidge.

  4. Too much tanner: Guys prefer you NOT to be tanned the color of Snooki.

  5. Helmet head: Too much hairspray means he cannot run his hands through your hair like Jack and Rose in the Titanic, and he is just NOT okay with that. ;)

 


Like I said earlier, you do you, who cares what guys think?! These were merely observations to give you a little giggle.

Having bad breath is one of my worst nightmares. I always worry that when I am taking to people that they are thinking about how bad my breath smells. Not fun! I have been researching ways to make sure I have fresh breath at all times. Here is how to keep bad breath at bay!

– Floss when you wake up and when you go to sleep


– Chew sugarless gum for five minutes after eating to bring saliva flow back to normal


– Eat crunchy foods like apples or carrots after your meal to scrape plaque off your teeth.


– Avoid eating lots of sugary foods, because this causes buildup on your teeth


– Eat set meals and avoid constant snacking, because this can also cause plaque build up


I always keep a pack of sugar free gum with me at all times, just in case I come down with some dragon breath. You especially want to keep your breath fresh on dates and in job interviews! Having good breath can go a long way, I am sure I don’t have to tell you twice!

During the spring and summer I love to wear skirts and dresses, but there are some occasions when pants are necessary. On those days, I love to wear white jeans. They are crisp, cute, and classy! Here are a few ways to rock white jeans this spring and summer.white jeams


  1. With stripes! I love striped shirts. They are so clean and crisp. Wear white jeans, a striped shirt, and a denim jacket for a classy, preppy flare!

  2. With a slouchy tee. Trying to keep it casual? Pair a slouchy short sleeved tee with your white jeans and some tan booties. Roll the pants up just a tad, and tuck the shirt into the front of the pants just a bit. Perfect!

  3. With a sweater. On chilly spring and summer evenings, wear a pastel sweater with your white jeans and some wedges or strappy sandals.

If your city is like mine, then there is a Starbuck’s on every corner!  It’s quite tempting and pretty hard to say “no” to a hot coffee or icy frappe when it’s right there!  It’s also hard not to make when you’ve got a coffee maker and creamers in your own kitchen.  Nevertheless, coffee is almost unavoidable!  So is this girly drink good or bad for you?  Let’s break down the truth!


Surprisingly enough, coffee has a handful of health benefits!  Coffee contains an abundance of antioxidants that actually prevent brain cell damage.  It helps fight diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s.  Even the risk of brain cancer and diabetes drops!  Coffee is also heart healthy!  It keep arteries from becoming inflamed, which lowers the risk of stroke; but be careful, too much coffee can have the opposite effect! Chelsea Crockett- coffee pros and cons


While coffee has a lot of pros, it can also hinder your health.  If you get stressed easily or can’t sleep at night, then lay off the coffee.  Coffee is high in caffeine, which can make certain people very jittery and/or anxious.  If you’re one of these people, but love coffee, just drink one cup a day!  It’s also not a great idea to add a large amount of heavy creamers and sugar to each glass.  All in all, coffee isn’t too bad for you (unless you’re having 5 cups a day)!

Want a delicious snack that you can whip together in 5 minutes? How does raspberry cheesecake frozen yogurt sound?! Read on to learn how to make this fast frosty frozen treat.


Ingredients:8f5173faf77c64d8bff0cfc605216b28


  • 2 cups frozen raspberries

  • ½ cup unsweetened almond milk

  • ¼ cup plain low fat Greek yogurt

  • ¼ cup low fat cottage cheese

  • 2-3 tbsp sweetener of choice

  • 1 tsp lemon juice

Take all of your ingredients and then add them to the blender. Blend the entire mixture until it is smooth. Want a delicious waffle bowl to eat your fabulous frozen yogurt in? Here is how to make your very own.


Ingredients:


  • 2 whole grain tortillas

  • 2-3 tbsp sugar

  • 1 tbsp cinnamon

Heat the oven to 375 degrees. In a bowl mix the sugar and cinnamon. Microwave the tortillas for 30 seconds and then drape them over bowls on a baking sheet, then press them around the bowls. Spray the tortillas lightly with cooking spray and sprinkle them with the cinnamon sugar mix. Bake them for 10-15 mins and then let them cool. Scoop some of your frozen yogurt into the bowls and enjoy!

The world is a huge place full of beauty secrets just waiting for their big reveal.  Some of these beauty secrets, such as Moroccan Oil from Morocco for shiny and healthy hair, have taken the world by storm!  Many other countries have their own beauty secrets that you can try in your own home!  Check out how to get heathy and feel beautiful from around the globe!Chelsea Crockett- milk oats and honey


Australia:  Got dandruff?  No problem!  Adding a few drops of tea tree oil to your normal shampoo will get rid of the problem in no time!


Egypt:  For soft skin, bathe in milk and honey.  This one dates back all the way to the time of the pyramids!


Brazil:  If you didn’t already know this, oats are great for your skin!  In Brazil, they place oatmeal in a filter bag and place it over their faucet in the bathtub.  Once the hot water has filtered through the oats, you’ve got yourself a sunburn relief bath!


Costa Rica:  If you have large pores and would like to shrink them for a short-term effect, mix together orange juice and water and use a cotton ball to rub the mixture on your skin.  Let the juice sink in for a few minutes and then continue to wash your face as you normally would!  Your pores should be noticeably smaller.


Spain:  Remove dark under eye circles by placing a sliced potato on your eyes.  This will lighten the skin!

The end of the school year is bittersweet. Everyone’s ready to escape from the long, tiring school days, but not before our much dreaded finals. Finals equal stress… so I thought I’d share a few of my secrets for coping with the end of the year stress!


First things first… come up with a plan that allows you to Chelsea Crockett - Finals Plannerprioritize what tests will be first and what exams will be the hardest.  Then take some time to think about how you will prepare.  Studying notes, writing out notecards, rereading chapters, reading over past tests, etc. can all be good ideas.  Plan for study time.  Write out times for studying on your calendar and then stick to the plan.  You’ll feel organized and ready to work.


Another tip is to set your room up for success.  We all feel better when our study area is cleaned up. It’s one less thing to worry about and gives us a feeling of accomplishment already.  It helps us to think more clearly knowing our space is decluttered.


Before you study, plan a work out like running or yoga.  Get those endorphins pumping!  Make yourself a smoothie or tea and hit the books!  You’ll already feel proud of yourself by your workout so your brain will be in a good place to conquer your studies.  If you have a ton of anxiety about your finals, it’s always good to look up some breathing techniques to help oxygen flow and calm your nerves.


Use summer as a motivation to ace your exams!

Unfortunately, ideal s’more weather is behind us. But that doesn’t mean we cannot enjoy s’mores in the summer! Here is how to make your very own summertime s’mores.

Ingredients:


  • 1 tbsp softened unsalted butter

  • 1 cup packed brown sugar

  • ½ cup granulated sugar

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1 tsp vanilla

  • 1 tsp baking soda

  • ½ tsp sea salt

  • 2 ½ cups flour

  • ½ cup mini marshmallows

  • 3 Hershey’s bars broken into pieces

  • 1 or 2 packages of graham crackers broken into squares

 


In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. In the bowl of a mixer, cream the butter and both kinds of sugar together until it is fluffy. Add in the eggs and vanilla and mix. Add the flour mixture to the butter mixture and then combine it on the low speed of your mixer. Add in the chocolate chips and marshmallows. Chill the dough for an hour or more and then lay out your graham crackers on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Place a tablespoon of dough on each graham cracker and press it down with your fingers. Bake them at 375 for 5 minutes and then remove them to place a Hershey’s piece on the top. Bake for another 5 to 7 minutes and then remove them and allow them to cool.


 


There you have it! Now you can enjoy s’mores even in the summer.

Good morning sunshine! They say the early bird gets the worm, and I have to agree! I feel like I have so much more energy and am amazingly productive when I wake up early.  Here is how to start your day off on a cheery foot!


  1. Start with positivity: When you wake up, don’t focus on the negative, give yourself some affirmation! Instead of thinking of how early it is and how tired you are, remind yourself of all of the things you have to be thankful for and thank God for giving you another day.download (4)

  2. Don’t snooze: Studies have found that hitting the snooze button can actually make you even more tired. Try getting to bed about 30 minutes earlier, putting your alarm across the room so you have to get up to turn it off, and don’t use your phone at least 90 minutes before heading to bed!

  3. Shower time: Take a nice steamy shower. Use this time to zone out, plan your day, or get a little prayer in!

  4. Sweat it out: Research shows that exercising in the A.M. leads to better sleep, helps you be more productive, and puts you in a great mood! And, it also ensures that you actually DO work out, so you cannot say “I just ran out of time!” at the end of the day.

Now you, too, can be a morning person!

Snickers Popcorn

What is your favorite candy bar? One of my absolute favs is Snickers! The best way to watch a movie is with a bucket of popcorn, so at your next movie marathon with your gal pals, make them Snickers popcorn!


Ingredients


  • 8 quarts of popped cornSnickers-Caramel-Popcorn

  • 1 cup of salted butter

  • 2 cups of packed light brown sugar

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • ½ cup of light corn syrup

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

  • 1 cup of salted peanuts

  • 30 “fun size” Snickers bars, chopped

  • 3 ounces melted semi-sweet chocolate

Preheat your oven to 200 degrees. Over medium heat, boil the butter, brown sugar, salt and corn syrup for 5 minutes. Remove the mixture from heat and stir in the baking soda. Pour the mixture over the popcorn and stir it so that it covers all of the corn. Spread some wax paper onto the counter and then pour the covered corn onto the wax paper. Sprinkle the peanuts on top and then transfer it into a roasting pan and bake for 1 hour, stirring it every 15 minutes. When you remove it from the oven, stir in the chopped Snickers and put it back in the oven for about 3 minutes. Remove the popcorn from the pan and then spread it onto the wax paper to cool. Drizzle melted chocolate on top of it, and then store it in a container until you and your friends are ready to devour it!

In the winter it’s all about faking the tan with bronzer and rocking a dark or nude lip. This is not the case for the summer! Since your skin will already be tan, ditch the foundation (except for covering up blemishes) and bronzer and stick with an icy pink blush. It’s great to contrast the dark and light colors. Don’t try to make yourself tanner by adding bronzer to your already bronzed face. It’s also time to swap your maroon lipstick for hot pinks and orange! These colors will make you look tanner and can actually act as an accessory to a plain colored dress or outfit. It’s also important to realize that less IS more! Ditch the dark eyeshadow and heavy eyeliner and go all-natural! All you really need is a good icy blush, mascara, and some fun lipstick to give yourself the perfect summer makeover. For those of you who don’t know, Sadie Robertson is a young reality star on the TV show Duck Dynasty.  She is also a young motivational speaker and I think we have a lot in common!  She spends her summers working at youth camps and going on mission trips. Chelsea Crockett - Sadie Robertson Quote She’s a girl with a message about being confident in yourself.  Everything I read about her makes me feel like we are on the same page so I wanted to highlight some of her thoughts!


Sadie makes no mistake by saying God is number one in her life and that her family comes next.  I try to live by that same philosophy.  Sadie recently wrote a book called “Live Originally”.  Her message is basically to live confidently in the person God made you to be.  Live for God and not for anyone else.  Stay true to who you are.  She also says for a relationship to work, you should pray together and stay pure until marriage.  Teenagers deal with enough peer pressure as it is, so remain true to yourself by being different and others will actually look up to you.


Sadie is a strong, confident girl with flaws and worries just like the rest of us!  She is willing to stand firm in her principles and so do I.  I hope you will join us.  Live for who God has called you to be and don’t conform to peer pressure!

Girls, c’mon, your makeup bag is pretty dirty isn’t it??  It’s easy to toss your makeup around, especially when you’re in a rush.  I’ve even forgotten to put on the lid to my lipstick before tossing it into my bag!  Many of us don’t take the time or haven’t even looked at the mess in our makeup bag for months, or even years!  Luckily, it’s simple and only takes 10 minutes for a full tidy.  It’s time to clean up our makeup act. Chelsea Crockett- lipstick in the freezer


Start by emptying anything and everything out of your bag and turning it inside out.  Remove all the makeup from the inside the bag with a makeup wipe.  You’ll be surprised at how much makeup there is!  One of the biggest concerns with makeup is it getting infected with bacteria.  To disinfect lipstick, put it in the freezer overnight to kill bacteria.  Anything bad will freeze right off.  You can also wipe it with a disinfectant wipe.  In order to clean compact makeup, spray one spritz of rubbing alcohol directly on the powder.


Another problem I always have is getting rid of the extra mascara left on my eyelash curler.  Eventually, it starts to build up!  To get off all that unwanted mascara, use a lighter to melt the mascara and wipe it right off.  It’s so simple!  Take the time to clean out your makeup bag and disinfect your favorite products.

Summers in the Midwest, where I live, are sweltering. Spring can be quite warm, too! My favorite way to cool down in the summer is with a big glass of ice cold sweet tea. Another refreshing summer snack is watermelon. Combine the two and you have the ultimate summer cool-down treat. Here is how to make this minty magical concoction!


Ingredients:


1 cup water


Watermelon Sweet Tea

Watermelon Sweet Tea


1 cup sugar


3-4 nice leafy stems of mint


1 family sized tea bag


7 cups boiling water


A few more leafy mint stems


3 pound piece of fresh watermelon


First, we make the syrup. Place 1 cup of water and 1 cup of sugar in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir until the sugar dissolves then bring to a boil. Boil the mixture for 3 minutes, then remove from the heat. Drop in the mint leaves and push them down into the syrup and then allow it to cool. When it is cool, pour it into an airtight jar and refrigerate.


Now we make the tea. Place the tea bag and mint stems in a large pitcher. Pour over the boiling water and leave to steep for 8 – 10 minutes until the tea is a dark amber color. Remove and throw away the tea bag and the mint. Leave to cool.


Cut the watermelon into cubes and puree it in a blender until smooth. Pour your puree into a strainer and gently push the pulp so you can get the juice from it. You should have about 3 cups of juice after you do this. Refrigerate the juice until the tea is cooled.


In a pitcher mix the tea and the watermelon juice and stir well, then add in the mint simple syrup to taste.


Sounds delightfully refreshing!

We all know the struggle of trying to achieve the perfect winged liner. Honestly, it could take me hours to get those wings perfectly symmetrical. As with everything in life, practice makes perfect, so instead of “winging it” next time you try and swoop your liner, follow these helpful guidelines!


  1. Use a straight edge: Save yourself a ton of trouble by using a business card or piece of scotch tape as a straight edge. eyeliner3Line the edge up to the angle you want the wing to be. Trace along the edge with your liner, and bam, a straight line every time!

  2. Find the right kind: In order to get the perfect winged look, you need to find the liner that works best for you. Once you find your favorite liner, making the perfect wing is that much easier.

  3. Keep it steady: Having a steady hand is crucial when dealing with liquid liner. The easiest way to anchor your hand is to use your ring finger or pinky and rest the tip on your cheek bone while your fingers hold the liner.

  4. Trace, then line: The easiest way to map out your wing is to use your solid eyeliner pen to trace your lines, and then go over your lines with the liquid liner.

Now you are ready to kick your winged eyeliner game up a notch!

Mother’s Day only comes once a year and it’s the perfect excuse to show your mom how thankful you are for her! This year, I’ve thought of a few different ways you and your mom can spend her day together. They’re inexpensive and perfect for a day of bonding :)!


  • If you live near a big city, then you most likely have a zoo nearby. In my opinion, it doesn’t matter what age you are, the zoo is still tons of fun! Make sure you check the weather before you head out, just in case the forecast is cold or rain. That’s no fun!Chelsea Crockett - Lip Scrub

  • Since Mother’s Day is just before summer, see if your mom wants to plant any flowers or even a garden! You can go pick out what flowers or seeds you want to plant to decorate your home. If you’d rather plant vegetables, pick a place around your house to start your garden. Buy some of your fave veggies and go to town :)!

  1. Pretty pink: Want to keep thinks sweet and simple? Paint your nails a simple shade of light pink. It is preppy and pretty, with a little girly flare!

  3. Paisley print: I love this pretty pattern! It reminds me of a china cup. What a classy, preppy pattern! Super cute.

Whether you’re in high school or college, finals week is always a scary time.  Between studying for multiple classes and trying to keep your sanity, the last week of school can get hectic.  In order not to lose your cool, check out these tips for a smooth finals week!Chelsea Crockett- studying for finals


  • Put your phone on silent and set it across the room! I know this may sound impossible to some, but it’s totally worth it. Every 30 minutes allow yourself to check your phone! You’ll be super focused!

  • DON’T study too much! Sitting at a desk for 7 hours reading the same material won’t do much for you. Instead, study for an hour and then take a snack or TV show break. You’ve got to allow some time for yourself.

  • Get a good night’s sleep! If you think staying up till 4a.m. is the way to go you’re wrong! Try closing your books at 10p.m. and hitting the hay.

  • Keep distractions to a minimum. It’s easy for our minds to wander, so being in a quiet environment will help with that.

  • Eat brain foods like bananas, blueberries, and almonds.

  • DON’T stress out! If you start to panic about an exam it will be harder to study! Believe in yourself!

Milk and Oreos. What a match made in heaven. Even better? Cookies and cream ice cream. Even BETTER? Cookies and cream popsicles! If you are like me and you live in a place where summers are totally squelching, you are in constant need of a cool-down treat. I have just the thing to cool your jets!photo-2 copy


Ingredients:


–       4 oz fat free cream cheese, softened


–       4 oz fat free plain Greek Yogurt


–       ¼ cup fat free milk


–       2 tbsp powdered sugar


–       6 Oreos, crushed


Combine the cream cheese, yogurt, powdered sugar, and milk together in a bowl until the mixture is creamy and smooth. Once your ingredients are thoroughly mixed, stir in the crushed Oreos. An (and fun) way to crush the Oreos is to grab a gallon sized Ziploc baggy, toss the cookies inside, seal it nice and tight, and then take a wooden spoon to the bag. Crush those cookies, and crush ‘em good! Whack them with the spoon to your heart’s intent. This is also a good way to let off some steam, I might add. So, anyway, after you have added the crushed cookies to the mixture pour it into popsicle molds. Place the molds in the freezer, and boom you’re done!


I am so excited to try this quick and easy (and frosty) version my favorite midnight snack, Oreos and milk!

Dear girls who have naturally clear skin: be so so SO grateful for that!! Girls like me who have to work to have clear skin would kill to have your gorgeous “I woke up like this” façade.   1. SPF all the way: Wear a minimum of SPF 15 on a daily basis. This will help prevent skin damage, wrinkles, sunburn, and skin cancer.

  2. Work it out: Exercise isn’t always the most fun activity on the planet, but when you get that heart pumping you are delivering oxygen to your skin! Plus, you are burning calories and toning that fab figure.

  3. Say no to cigarettes: Not only is smoking terrible for your health in general, it is also horrible for your skin. Smoking causes your lung capacity to decrease, which causes decreased oxygenation of your tissues and gives your liver too much work to do to process the toxins. This makes your skin to dehydrate, cease to glow, and become inflamed.

  4. Don’t pick at zits: If you pop your pimples, you can cause them to scar! The best way to zap a zit is to put an ice cube wrapped in a cloth on your pimple for a minute.

  5. Exfoliate: This can help get rid of acne scars and also allows skin products to absorb better and work more effectively!

These are just a few things experts say will help you get gorgeous skin. Seems easy enough, right?

Having healthy skin is one of the simple pleasures in life. A homemade coconut oil face mask can help you get there! Coconut oil is naturally rich in antioxidants and healthy acids and will soften and lubricate healthy skin cells, break down dead cells, heal acne, and hydrate skin. How does this homemade mask work?


Coconut oil’s structure allows it to infiltrate skin pores to soften rough skin from within. Honey is a natural humectant, which hydrates skin cells. The last ingredient is lemon juice. Fresh lemon juice helps tighten and shrink large pores.96070-OrganicCoconutOil


Ingredients:


  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil

  • 2 teaspoons raw honey

  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice

 


Combine the above ingredients in a small bowl. Apply a thick coat of mask mixture onto your clean face. Allow the mixture to sit on your face for 10 minutes and then rinse it off with cool water. Pat your face dry, don’t rub it.


Now get ready for clear, soft skin!

Food inspiration can come from a multitude of different things… and since it’s spring, fresh fruits will be sprouting up left and right. It’s time to think about some healthy spring snacks and treats. Where I live, strawberries will be ripe for picking in about one month.  Whether you get to go and pick them or buy them at your local market, strawberries are a delicious treat!  They are low in calories and fats but rich in nutrients, minerals, and vitamins.  Strawberries are an excellent source of Vitamin C which is a powerful natural antioxidant.Chelsea Crockett - Chocolate Strawberry Truffle Cake


Therefore, let’s talk about some awesome snacks made with this yummy fruit!  A mom of one of my friends makes a delicious truffle filled with layers of chocolate cake, chocolate pudding/whip cream mixture, and sliced strawberries.  It’s to die for!  Sometimes she just buys a store bought cake and crumbles it up to form the layers.  It’s one of my favorites!


Another snack that I love with strawberries may sound a bit weird… but don’t judge me until you’ve tried it :)! You take fresh strawberries and dip them in a little sour cream and then brown sugar… it’s divine!  It sounds gross at first but the combination of those ingredients is absolutely delicious.  You should give it a try!
