What Holds You Together?

What Holds You Together?

laminin Chelsea Crockett – Laminin – Colossians 1:17

Some of us make excuses when we are off track and living in a way that is completely self-centered.  I know, because I was stuck in this personal slavery for many years.  The emotional pain caused me to be stuck here.  I was in this place for so long, until one day, I began to even question the existence of God.

During the difficult times, I found myself using Science as an excuse to deny his presence.  I prefaced conversations about God with the argument that the overlap of Christianity and science is very, very small.  I couldn’t see the order and sequence in the universe because my life was in a state of  selfishness.

I’m sharing a video this week that will hopefully move you, if you are in a similar place in your life.  It’s also dedicated to people who need to be reminded of God’s unfailing love, existence, and his purpose in our living and breathing lives.

How do I make friends?

How do I make friends?

The best way to make friends is to be friendly.  In other words, you should be the kind of person that others would like to have as a friend.  Think about what you like in a friend and be that kind of person to others.  This probably will mean showing interest in others, not just thinking and talking about yourself.  And you should be a godd listener–everyone wants a friend who will listen carefully to what they say and take them seriously.  To have a friend, be a friend.

Key verse: Proverbs 18:24

God"s Unconditional Love

God"s Unconditional Love
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/Chelsea-Crockett-Gods-Unconditional-Love.jpg

Have you ever thought about how precious and special you are to God?  Many of us spend time feeling like we are not what we need to be.  We often compare ourselves to other people and assume something is wrong with us.  There is, however, a way to stop that negative thinking.  It is positively and frequently thinking and saying “God loves me unconditionally.”  God loves us and views us as being accepted and blameless.  Knowing God loves us unconditionally is a necessity to make progress in our walk with Him.Chelsea Crockett - God

Our relationship with God should be based on love and acceptance, not fear.  The enemy wants us to be focused on what’s wrong with ourselves.  But knowing we are accepted and loved even in our imperfection is such a relief.  God’s unconditional love gives us confidence, boldness, and fearlessness.  When you go to bed at night, repeat to yourself “God loves me unconditionally and through faith I am made right in His eyes.”  Add some power to your life and meditate on God’s Word!

Blessings,

Chelsea

Makeup Tips for Girls with Glasses!

Makeup Tips for Girls with Glasses!
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/Chelsea-Crockett-Makeup-with-Glasses.jpg

Hey ladies!

When someone has glasses, their eyes tend to get over-shone by their new set of eyes.  Sometimes the frames can attract more than the actual eyes themselves.  It’s hard to apply makeup that another can notice without over applying and packing on the dark makeup. Here’s a little guide I put together to change that and help you girls out!

When looking for the right foundation, I suggest a powder over a liquid. When using a liquid or cream, your foundation seems to move under your frames, which can leave marks around your nose and cheeks. Also, when wearing glasses, our frames tend to make under our eyes look darker than normal. To avoid this, use a lighter shaded foundation or concealer to brighten up that area.

Chelsea Crockett - Neutral Eye MakeupSometimes our eyes get over-shone by our frames, making it harder for them to stand out.  I’ve learned a trick to help solve this problem. However thick the frame of your glasses are is how you should model the thickness of your eyeliner: thin frames, thinner eyeliner. Also, try using neutral eye shadows to complement the rest of your makeup.  Finish off with not one, but two coats of mascara.

With these helpful tips, you won’t have to worry about your glasses standing out over your eyes ever again!

XOXO – Chels

Using Liner to Change Your Eye Shape

Using Liner to Change Your Eye Shape
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/eyeliner-blend.jpg

Did you know that you can use eyeliner to totally change the shape of your eyes? It CAN be done! Let me explain:

If you’d like your eyes to look closer together or if your eyes are wide-set: Add liner to the inner corner of your eyelids (eye #13).

If you’d like your eyes to look wider apart or if your eyes are close-set: Leave liner off of the inner corner or your eye, and be sure to line the outer upper lid. You may also line the lower outer lid if you want (eye # 12).

For a smokey or dramatic look: Line all the way around the eye. The thicker your liner, the smokier and more dramatic the look! You may also want to ‘smudge’ the line with your finger to keep it from looking too harsh. Something to keep in mind, though, is that this technique makes your eyes look the smallest, or the least “open”, so I wouldn’t use this technique if you feel your eyes are small. (eyes # 4,10,11)

To create the trendy “cat-eye” look: Line your eye as you normally would (upper lid, or both upper and lower), and then add a small swipe or ‘wing’ at the outer corner of the upper lid. This ‘wing’ may be as big and thick as you’d like, but generally for everyday wear, a smaller wing is fashionable and appropriate. (eyes #1,2,8)

Chelsea Crockett Eyeliner

To make your eyes look more open and bigger: Only line the top lid. If you want your eyes to look bigger, but still like wearing bottom-lid liner, try lining the outer half of the bottom lid. Another cheat or trick here would be to use a white or light-toned liner on your bottom lid. Lighter-shades have an ‘opening’ effect, while dark shades make them look smaller. (eye #9)

To summarize all that jazz: Darker, all-over liner is most dramatic, but makes your eyes look a bit smaller. Lining the top lid gives your eyes a big, open effect, but is a less dramatic, more natural look. And to change your eye shape, add liner to the outer or inner corner, depending on where you’d like to add depth or length to your eye shape.

Use these tips to switch up your look!

XOXO, Chels

Foods that Reduce Cramps

Foods that Reduce Cramps
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/glass-of-milk2.jpg

So this week has really been focused on “that time of the month”. I don’t know about you, but during that time, I get some pretty intense cramps and cravings. Today I am going to give you some snack ideas that will actually help reduce your cramps!

Anything high in fiber: Fiber helps soak up prostaglandins (the stuff that causes your lovely cramps) like a sponge and carries them out of your body. Some good sources of fiber are brown rice, spinach, peas, and whole grain bread.

Foods full of calcium: Calcium is known to relieve muscle tension, and muscle tension is what causes menstrual cramps. Drink some milk, eat some yogurt, or even eat dark leafy greens such as broccoli to relieve your yucky cramps.

Foods high in Vitamin B6: Vitamin B6 helps to reduce pain and is found in foods like bananas, oatmeal, and chicken breast.

Hopefully these suggestions will help keep your cramps under control next time mother nature decides to visit! Good luck ladies,

XOXO, Chels

How to Pull Off “Bed-Head” Hair

How to Pull Off “Bed-Head” Hair
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/Chelsea-Crockett-How-to-Pull-Off-“Bed-Head”-Hair.jpg

Waking up in the morning is tough enough, but waking up early and being in a rush can be a total disaster!  Between deciding what to wear and doing your makeup, there’s barely enough time to give your hair a little TLC.  Luckily, there is a way to pull off that crazy bed head you get from a long nights sleep.  In a few simple steps you can achieve the perfect messy hair…think of it as “un-styling” your hair.Chelsea Crockett- bed head hair

First and foremost, you have to embrace your natural hair texture.  By playing off your hairs natural waves or curls, you’ll be able to style your hair much faster and easier.  Start by brushing out tangles with a wide-toothed comb, NOT a hairbrush.  A comb will take out specific tangles, while a hair brush will get rid of your natural texture.  Next, run water through your fingers and add it to the pieces of hair that look the limpest.  This will add body to dull, lifeless strands.  Add dry shampoo to your roots for freshness and volume.  A little dry shampoo goes a long way for instant fullness.

It’s as simple as that, and no heat is required!  Embrace that perfectly beautiful and messy bed head!

Popular Perfume Picks

Popular Perfume Picks
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/Chelsea-Crockett-Perfumes.jpg

Hello darlings!

I’ve blogged about almost everything from makeup to hair products to nail polishes.  But one thing I haven’t really talked about is perfume!  Many magazines, including two of my favorites, Teen Vogue and Seventeen, have featured some popular perfumes that are perfect for adding on to an upcoming Christmas wish listWink!Chelsea Crockett - Perfumes

  • Viva La Juicy.  This perfume is made by Juicy Couture and has an amazing fruity scent to it.  You also don’t have to worry about the strong scent fading off right away.

  • Our Moment by One Direction.  If you love One Direction, then you’ll be sure to check out their new perfume.  This scent is super sweet and for sure a must-have.

  • Coach Poppy.  This perfume is a perfect mix of fruits and flowers.  It may be pricey but the buy is totally worth it!  Asking for it as a gift is a good idea for avoiding the price!

  • Wonderstruck by Taylor Swift.  I love this perfume.  This is a better perfume for fall and winter because it’s not a normal fruity, summery scent.  It also lasts for a while so you don’t have to keep reapplying it over and over again throughout the day.

                                              XOXO – Chelsea

Foods That Will Make You Smile

Foods That Will Make You Smile
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/Chelsea-Crockett-dark-chocolate.jpg

Hi Insiders,

As the saying goes, “You are what you eat.”  I couldn’t agree any more with this statement!  If you eat fast food every day, your body and mood will feel the effects.  You’ll feel sluggish and down.  It’s important to feed your body foods that will make you happy.  Surprisingly, there are certain foods that can actually boost your mood.  It’s an all-natural way to go from sad to happy!Chelsea Crockett- greek yogurt

  • Greek yogurt: This type of yogurt is packed with more calcium than milk and studies show that a high intake of calcium can boost your mood.  Low calcium levels can produce anxiety, depression, and slow thinking.  Eat your yogurt!!

  • Dark chocolate: Of course chocolate is a mood booster, duh?!  I mean, who doesn’t love chocolate?  Dark chocolate, especially, improves blood flow to the brain.  This makes your body more energized and vibrant.

  • Asparagus:  This vegetable has the highest concentration of serotonin, a mood regulator for the brain.

  • Honey:  Although sweet like sugar, this sweet treat can reduce inflammation and reduce depression.

  • Eggs:  The fatty omega-3 acid found in eggs can give your body enough energy to make it through your whole day.  When you’re energized, your whole body will feel alive!

Make your body smile and eat for a body you’d be proud of!

Love,

Chelsea

Oily Skin? Try Charcoal!

Oily Skin? Try Charcoal!
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/Chelsea-Crockett-charcoal.jpg

Hi Insiders,

I’m sure you’ve seen your dad light up a grill using charcoal for a yummy dinner.  Even though it’s great for grilling steaks, did you know it can actually help get rid of oily skin?  Sounds crazy, right?!  Beauty experts have found that charcoal has been proven to be able to suck dirt, oil, and acne causing bacteria right out of your skin.  It’s a skin clearing secret weapon.  It’s a fast and effective way to get the skin you’ve always wanted.

One of my favorite products of all time is the Michael Todd Charcoal Detox Cleanser.  It really gets in my pores and gets all the dirt out.  Since I have really oily skin, it’s the perfect product for me!  It’s really cleared up my acne.  Another great product is the LUSH “Dark Angels” Fresh Facial Cleanser.  LUSH is made with all organic products and is so fresh and natural.  The “Dark Angel” cleanser is a powdered charcoal mix that when mixed with water creates an all-natural charcoal treatment. Chelsea Crockett- Michael Todd Charcoal

Don’t be afraid to branch out of your normal facial routine and try a charcoal based product.  Your skin will be brighter and cleaner in no time.  I promise, you won’t be disappointed.

XOXO,

Chelsea

DIY Workout Tank!

DIY Workout Tank!
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/chelsea-crockett-workout-tank.jpg

Who agrees that when you look cute when you work out you feel better and work harder? I know I do! When I wear cute clothes to workout I feel better about my workout. Do you have an old t-shirt that is shoved in the back of your drawer screaming “don’t forget about me!”? Take that poor shirt out, and transform it into a cute workout shirt with me!

chelsea crockett workout shirt1. Find an old t-shirt that you don’t mind cutting up. Lay it out flat on the floor. Cut the bottom hem off of the shirt and also cut the hem of the collar off. Lay these pieces to the side.

2. Cut the sleeves off of the shirt so that it looks like a tank top. In other words, leave about a two inch wide strap.

3. Turn the shirt over so that the back is facing you. Pull the back of the tshirt straps together and wrap the extra strip you got by cutting the bottom hem off of the shirt around them. It should look like this when you are done:

4. Secure the wrapped straps together.

Viola! Now you have a cute shirt to go work your booty off in!

Get your sweat on, ladies!

XOXO, Chels

Lip Stick vs. Lip Stain

Lip Stick vs. Lip Stain
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/chelsea-crockett-lip-stick-vs-lip-stain.jpg

Do you wear lip color on a regular basis? If so, you probably have a go-to color or brand that you use every time. Lip color can be used to enhance any look and add a little extra oomf to your ensemble. There is a lip product that I have totally fallen in love with, and that is lip stain! It stays on for ages and doesn’t smudge one bit. Want to know the differences/pros and cons between lipstick and lip stain? Then stay tuned!outlast_lipstain_lipstick_1_01132009191545

Lip Stick Pros and Cons: The pros are that you can find lipstick in literally any color, any shade, any finish, from matte to glossy to sheer. With the help of a mirror, lipstick is relatively easy to apply. Lipstick is also a great moisturizer because of its waxy texture. The cons are that lip stick rubs off and smears easily. Lipstick also leaves its traces everywhere, from your water glass to your teeth and even to your clothes if you accidentally brush your lips on them.

Lip Stain Pros and Cons: The pros are that it stays on foreeeever and doesn’t rub off or smear. You don’t even need to touch it up! This means you don’t have to worry about embarrassing smears or smudges, and you don’t need to wonder if your color is fading all day! The cons are that it tends to dry your lips out, so you will need to apply a moisturizer. Also, lip stains are not available in as many colors as lip sticks are. You are limited to more neutral tones and more natural reds and pinks, but if that is what you prefer then you are in luck!

It all comes down to personal preference and trial and error. Try a few and see which you like better! Which do YOU prefer? Comment below and let me know!

XOXO, Chels

Cake Batter Red Velvet Pancakes

Cake Batter Red Velvet Pancakes
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/Chelsea-Crockett-Cake-Batter-Red-Velvet-Pancakes.png

Pancakes are one of my favorite meals to have for breakfast… and what’s better than being a little creative and making them cake batter red velvet pancakes? Since I spend a lot of time on Pinterest, I thought I’d share this delicious recipe I found. Not only is the recipe for the pancakes, but for a cream cheese drizzle as well! Yum!

Chelsea Crockett - PancakesFirst, you need your ingredients: 2 cups of red velvet cake mix, 1 ¼ cup of milk/water, 1 egg, ½ cup of flour, 4 ounces of cream cheese, ½ cup of powdered sugar, 1 teaspoon of vanilla, and 2 tablespoons of milk.

Second, heat your pan or skillet at medium heat. Take a large bowl and whisk the egg and milk together. Then, add in the red velvet cake mix, milk, egg, and flour. Mix together until the batter is completely fluffy. After that, you’re ready to go! Whether you want mini pancakes or big ones, grease the pan with butter or oil before pouring on the batter. Then pour the batter on the pan and wait till a bubble appears to flip. Each side should cook for about a minute. Once the pancakes are done, you’re ready to make the cream cheese drizzle!

This part is simple. Take a smaller bowl and mix together the cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk. Once all ingredients are fully mixed together, pour the drizzle on top of your pancakes. How delicious does that sound :)?

Enjoy! – Chelsea

Ombre VS. Balayge

Ombre VS. Balayge
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/chelsea-crockett-ombre-vs-balayge.jpg

We all know what ombre hair is, but have you ever heard of Balayge? They are very similar, but also have some key differences. Want to know which style is right for you? Need to know the deets? Stay tuned!

Balayge: This word literally means “to sweep” in French. This style is defined by sweeping highlights that create anatural, sun kissed look. The highlights are focused on the front of your hair, and gradually sweep to the back. This look is more natural looking than ombre, so if that is your cup of tea then go for it!c6fba2c81ad04adf483f3c33d282a020

Ombre: Ombre is a gradual lightening of the hair, fading from dark near the roots to lighter at the ends. Ombre can be both striking or subtle, it just depends on your preference and the stylist! Just a word of warning, ombre can be a bit rough on your hair because it concentrates the bleach on the ends of your hair, which are already the most damaged part of your hair. If you decide on this style, deep condition your hair regularly!

Have you decided which style is more “you”? If so, comment below!

XOXO, Chels

Boots, Boots, and More Boots!

Boots, Boots, and More Boots!
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/Chelsea-Crockett-boots1.jpg

Hi Girls,

As you all may know, I have a love and obsession for shoes. Lucky for me, fall is ALL about the boots!  Boots are such a versatile shoe and can be worn so many different ways.  Styling your outfit around the type of boots you’re planning on wearing is key to fashion success!

Chelsea Crockett- riding bootsRiding Boots:  This boot is the classiest of them all!  For a rustic brown riding boot, pair it with a dark denim jean to make the boots stand out.  For the top, try wearing a plaid button up and  crew neck sweater over it.  Pull the sleeves and collar through the arm and neck holes and roll up your sleeves.  This will take your shirt and sweater to a new level and you’ll look fabulously chic!  Pair it with a bold gold watch and thick necklace.

Combat Boots:  This is your time to find Chelsea Crockett- combat bootsyour inner street style!  Try wearing tight leggings with an over-sized tee, plaid shirt, or sweater.  It’s an extremely simple look made for every day.  Throw on a beanie and even some red lipstick to vamp up your outfit.  Be bold!

Tall Leather Boots:  This is the most common type of boot and can be worn with almost anything.  If you can think up an outfit, it probably will look great with a pair of tall boots.  Try a pair of dark jeans with an off the shoulder sweater and accessorize with jewelry.  Make it simple or fabulous!

Get creative with your boots!

Love,

Chelsea

Keeping my room clean is a HUGE struggle.  I’ve got clothes everywhere, magazines scattered all over my bed, and makeup upon makeup all over my vanity.  So how do I fix this problem?  I’ve finally come up with multiple organization tips that have really helped me keep my room clean and will benefit you as well.  Let’s get started!

Clothes, clothes, and more clothes…how do you fit so many clothes in a small closet?!  I only hang up nicer clothes, like dresses, skirts, and nice shirts.  The rest, I fold and organize by type: pajamas, shorts, tees, tanks, etc.  This way, you can find what you’re looking for easily.  Just place in drawers and voilà!Chelsea Crockett- Organization Tips                If you’re a makeup guru like me, then you’ve got lots of brushes.  A cute way to store your brushes is to place them in a fish bowl.  Sounds weird, I know, but trust me!  Add fun colored sand, rocks, or seashells to the bottom of the fish bowl and then place the brushes upside down so they stand upright.  It’s a cute, stylish way to showcase your makeup brushes.  Just place them on your vanity and there you go!  Cubbies are probably the greatest organization tool around.  They come in all sorts of colors and hold just about anything.  I like to keep cubbies under my bed and place all of my magazines in them. That way, I can access my magazines quick and easy.  It looks good too!  You can find the perfect sized cubbies right here on Amazon:http://tiny.cc/Cubbies.  Last, jewelry racks can be purchased at Target and display your jewelry in a cute and classy way.  It makes everything easy to find and it’s sort of like a decoration for the room.  Apply these tips and your room will be nice and organized!

Ps- Don’t forget about your laundry. Wink

Xoxo,

Chelsea

Avocado Chocolate Chip Cookies...?!

Avocado Chocolate Chip Cookies...?!
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/chelsea-crockett-avocado-cookies.jpg

What if I told you there was a way to make chocolate chip cookies…with avocados?! Would you think I was totally bezerk? I not, I promise! I am so excited to share this guilt-free recipe with you all! You can eat as many of these delicious cookies as you want without feeling like a beached whale afterwards! Check it out:

Ingredients:

  • 100 grams of avocado flesh (sounds zombie-ish, right?)

  • ½ cup coconut sugarchelsea crockett avocado

  • 1 egg

  • ½ cup dark cocoa powder

  • 50 g. dark chocolate chunks

  • 1 tbsp. water

  • ½ tsp. baking soda

Here is how to make the cookies:

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350° F. In a bowl using a hand mixer, mix together the avocado and coconut sugar until smooth. Add in the egg.

  2. Mix in the cocoa powder and chocolate chunks. In a small bowl or glass dissolve the baking soda in water and add it to the dough. Mix well.

  3. Using two spoons place dollops of cookie dough on to a baking sheet with parchment paper. These cookies don’t spread out when you cook them like normal cookies do, so make sure to flatten them out a bit with the back of a spoon before baking them

  4. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until the cookies don’t stick as much to the paper as they did before baking. Let them cool down. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week.

I found this great recipe on thesmoothielover.com! If you are super into healthy foods, try these out!!

5 Don"ts When It Comes To Makeup

5 Don"ts When It Comes To Makeup
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/Chelsea-Crockett-Applying-Makeup2.jpg

Putting on makeup seems easy, right?  Just throw on your favorite products and you’re good to go for the day.  Surprisingly, when it comes to makeup, there are a few “don’ts” that most girls aren’t aware of.

  1. DON’T curl your eyelashes after Chelsea Crockett - Applying Makeupyou apply mascara.  I sometimes get asked when to curl eyelashes, before or after you apply mascara?  Before, before, before!  If you wait till after, your lashes will get clumped and messy!  Curling them before allows you to solidify them by adding your mascara after. This leaves them looking just right!

  2. DON’T use eyeliner on your waterline.  If you do this, you probably noticed your eyeliner doesn’t last long.  It removes almost immediately.  Make sure you put it directly on the lid so it stays and leaves you with the look you wanted all along!

  3. DON’T sleep with makeup on.  Be sure to wash off all makeup before you catch some Z’s.  Your skin absolutely hates sticky makeup residue!

  4. DON’T forget to apply eye shadow first.  You don’t want to get caught trying to put your eye shadow on while trying not to smear your eyeliner and mascara!  By doing this, you can also see a better picture of how you want your eye shadow to look and how you want your colors to blend.

  5. DON’T over-do it when it comes to foundation and blush.  Try your hardest to evenly distribute your foundation on your face.  You want to avoid caking on your makeup.  This overlooks the natural and subtle look you’re aiming for.

Calling all college students!  I am about to tell you something so mind blowing that you may need to take a seat.  Did you know that your student ID can get you discounts at a handful of stores?  Yes, that’s right!  You can get discounts at some of your favorite clothing and technology stores just by showing your ID!  Some fan favorite restaurants will even give you a free drink or percentage off your meal by proving you’re a student!Chelsea Crockett- student discounts

The term “poor college student” is pretty accurate and many franchises are aware of this.  Knowing that education comes at a price, they are willing to help out all students!  Although not all stores and restaurant offer discounts, be sure to ask next time you are about to purchase something.  You may be surprised!

This just goes to show that getting your education really does pay off.  Not only will you have a bright future ahead of you, but a few discounts along the way!

Busy Insider"s Better Skin Guide

Busy Insider"s Better Skin Guide
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/chelsea-crockett-better-skin-guide.jpg

Odds are, you are a busy girl. You don’t have time to spend hours trying to get your skin squeaky clean. You barely have time to grab your face wash and scrub it on in the morning! Here are a few ways to maintain clear skin while running short on time.images (11)

  1. Eat skin-healthy foods: Eating the right foods is at the root of healthy skin. Processed foods are no good for your skin, plus they will bloat you! Eat lots of healthy foods to help hydrate your skin and keep it protected.

  2. Sleep: Being sleep deprived can cause your skin to become dehydrated. It can also cause premature aging! Want bright, healthy skin? Get those ZZZZ’s!

  3. Simplify your routine: If you don’t have time to cleanse, exfoliate, scrub, and moisturize every morning, that is totally okay! None of us do! If you don’t have time to do a million and one things to your face every day, then don’t sweat it! You can do these things when you have time. No worries!

If you are a busy bee, it doesn’t mean you have to neglect your skin care!

First Date Dos and Don"ts!

First Date Dos and Don"ts!
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/Chelsea-Crockett-Dating.jpg

Most of us girls are at that age, beginning high school, starting to drive, etc., and we can’t forget dating!  First dates are a big deal, and I know I’m not the only one that can’t control their nerves when asked out on a date!  Whether you’re secretly crushing on your classmate or making plans with your soon-to-be boyfriend, here are a few quick dos and don’ts for your date!Chelsea Crockett - Dating

  • DON’T be too serious.  Everyone wants to have a little fun!  Make sure you loosen up and don’t be nervous!  I’m sure he’s just as nervous as you are, so keep the conversation alive and going.

  • DON’T bring up past relationships!  If you’re thinking about an ex, maybe you’re not ready to move on just yet.

  • DO be yourself!  Don’t try to be someone you’re not.  If you’re not yourself from the start, then they won’t like you for the real YOU!

  • DO be open to creative date ideas!  Just because your guy’s not the basic “dinner and a movie” type doesn’t mean he can’t come up with a sweet, cute date for the two of you.  Usually those turn out to be the ones you remember!

  • DO dress appropriate for your date.  Just because others girls don’t, doesn’t mean you need to follow in their footsteps.  Wearing a nice outfit will show you have respect for yourself!

Next time you’re asked on a date, remember we’ve all been there!  Keep these tips in mind and you should be just fine!

Good luck! – Chelsea

Tricks and Tips to Avoid Split Ends and Breakage!

Tricks and Tips to Avoid Split Ends and Breakage!
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/Chelsea-Crockett-split-ends.jpg

Split ends are such a drag!  They happen out of nowhere and leave your hair looking dull and flat.  There are so many products out there that claim to “fix” your split ends, but in the end it doesn’t do much.  Taking good care of your hair is the first step to preventing and banishing split ends for good.  By following these simple tricks and tips, your hair will be looking fabulous in no time!

  1. Be gentle when you brush your hair.  Start at the roots and work your way up to the scalp.  If you start at the scalp, you are more likely to rip hair out and cause breakage.

  2. Always condition your ends!

  3. Do not scrub and rub a towel through your hair to dry it.  When you rub the ends of your hair together it causes your hair to knot.  Instead, squeezeChelsea Crockett- drying hair with towel the ends to soak up the water.

  4. When straightening your hair use a comb to comb through each strand before going over it with the straightener.  Sometimes your hair can clump together and the heat will make it break.

  5. Start at the roots and wrap your hair around the curling iron when curling your hair.  When you start at the ends of your hair, the heat sits there the longest.  Try exposing the ends of your hair to the least amount of heat as possible.

  6. Blow dry your hair when necessary.  Let it air dry as much as possible!

  7. Don’t forget to get regular trims to keep your hair healthy!

Taking proper care of your hair is so important!  Although it might be a lot of work, the results are worth it.  Love your hair!

Love,

Chelsea

Easy Tips for Catching Some ZZZ"s

Easy Tips for Catching Some ZZZ"s
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/Chelsea-Crockett-Easy-Tips-on-Catching-Some-ZZZs.png

Don’t get me wrong, summer is the best time of the year, but some of us teens get into the routine of staying up late at night… or even into the early hours of the morning! It may not affect us when we’re out of school and sleeping in through lunch, but during the school year it hits us like a ton of bricks! If you’re one of those people stuck in the exhausting routine, here are a few tips on breaking the habit!

  • Try drinking a glass of Sleepy Time tea. For some people, this tea is a miracle worker! If you start drinking a cup an hour or so before you hit the hay, you’ll feel calm and will hopefully doze off right away.Chelsea Crockett - Sleepytime Tea

  • Put your phone far away from you or in a different room. This may be the last thing you want to do, but I promise it works! 90% of the time you’re up after midnight is because your phone has too many easy distractions.

  • Use lavender! Lavender’s scent is known for relaxing and relieving stress. Purchase a lavender scented candle and let it burn for a while before you go to bed. Let it fill your room while it releases your stress, too!

  • Simply relax! Oftentimes you may find yourself getting frustrated and giving up on falling asleep early. DON’T! If you lay in bed and focus your mind on other things, it’ll help make you sleepy and you’ll eventually doze off.

So next time you’re having trouble catching some ZZZ’s, try out a couple of these steps and you’ll hopefully make it through the day without sleeping through class :)!

Take Down Your Mountains!

Take Down Your Mountains!
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/Chelsea-Crockett-Mountains.jpg

“Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them.” (Mark 11:23 NIV) Chelsea Crockett - Problems

I recently heard a sermon at my church that was focused on the above scripture. I thought it was really good and worth sharing with you!  We all have to face mountains in our everyday life.  It seems like you hurdle one and then another comes along.  Life is always going to throw obstacles at you.  What is important is how we handle them.

The preacher made it very clear that we have to trust God with our mountains, AKA problems.  He said we can continue to hit the mountain over and over again, only to injure ourselves…or…..We can pray about it and trust that God will take care of it.  I can’t tell you how many times I have had a problem and played a million different scenarios of it in my head.  It’s exhausting!  I am really trying to take his advice and pray about anything that is bothering me and then practice letting it go!  It’s not always easy to do but God has been showing me that He can handle things for me a lot better than I can.  It’s so much easier to “Let go and let God!”  So, I challenge you to give it a try the next time you are faced with a worry.

Guide to Staying Motivated!

Guide to Staying Motivated!
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/Chelsea-Crockett-Motivation.jpg

School can be such a drag. Between juggling homework, practices, and a job, life can get pretty tough and oftentimes extremely tiring. Staying motivated becomes harder and harder and procrastination usually starts to set in! For those of you who find yourself slacking and out of energy, here is a little guide I put together to help you out :)!

First things first, make sure you have the basics down. Get enough sleep (8 hours), eat healthy, exercise… These are all things that will give you a little more energy to get through the day. Apart from the simple things, be sure to reward yourself.Chelsea Crockett - Rewarding Yourself Working and getting things done is 10x harder if you don’t have anything to look forward to. Goal-setting is a perfect way to organize your tasks. If you complete a goal, reward yourself! Whether it’s with a piece of chocolate or a night out with your friends, it’ll help push you to checking off your goal!

The next step is probably the most important. As teenagers, we have SO many distractions… phones, friends, TV, etc. Get rid of them for a little! Trying to do everything at once isn’t possible. If you try, you’ll overwork yourself which leads to discouragement.

Have a good mindset and stay positive! – Chels

Although summer may be over, as much as I hate to say it, it doesn’t mean you can’t get those beautiful beach waves all year round!  Many beauty/hair brands have their own sea salt spray to guarantee beach waves at any time.  Unfortunately, many of these products can be pricey and may contain alcohol which can dry out your hair.  With a few simple ingredients, you can make your own inexpensive and effective sea salt beach wave spray!Chelsea Crockett- beach waves

What you’ll need:

  • Spray bottle

  • 1 cup of warm water

  • 4-5 drops of coconut oil

Rules to Healthier Skin

Rules to Healthier Skin
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/Chelsea-Crockett-Rules-to-Healthier-Skin.jpg

Having clear, healthy skin is an automatic self-esteem booster!  Unfortunately, maintaining clear skin can be a challenge.  It’s almost impossible to keep zits off our faces!!  Luckily, there are things you can do in your everyday life to keep pimples away and clear skin in the forefront.

  1. Establish a daily morning and night routine. This routine should consist of a complete face wash followed with moisturizer.

  2. Keep greasy, oily foods to a minimum. Your skin reacts by producing zits when you consume these types of foods.

  3. Make sure to get 7-8 hours of sleep every night! “Beauty rest” is the real deal!

  4. Try incorporating healthy skin foods into your diet like fish, avocados, pomegranates, and tomatoes.Chelsea Crockett- eat healthy for your skin

  5. Go without makeup! Whenever you’re having a lazy day, take a break from makeup and never wear it to sleep. Your skin needs to breathe every once in a while.

  6. Try not to touch your face. Your hands carry dirt and oil that should stay off your face!

  7. Always wear sunscreen. This will keep your skin looking youthful longer.

  8. Exfoliate a few times a week! Your skin needs a good deep cleaning every so often.

  9. Never over wash or over moisturize your face. Your skin creates natural oils that are healthy for the skin. If you are constantly washing them off, then your skin will react by creating more oil. Yuck!

If you live by these skin conscious rules, then you’ll be on the right track to clear, healthy skin all the time!

Love,

Chelsea

Fruity Breakfast Parfaits!

Fruity Breakfast Parfaits!
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/Chelsea-Crockett-Fruity-Breakfast-Parfaits.jpg

Some days, I like to get into a health kick… and with breakfast being the most important meal of the day, what better way to start it off with a good, nutritious breakfast? I recently found a simple little meal that provides both vitamins and a delicious tasteJ! It also doesn’t take up a lot of time in the mornings and is perfect if you are on the go!

If you’re a fruit lover, then you will LOVE these breakfast parfaits. You can make them almost any way you want! First, you need to pick out ingredients that you or your family likes best. For example, I love bananas so that would definitely be one of my first choices! The list you need is short and simple: yogurt, granola, and whatever fruit you prefer. I suggest buying around three different types of fruit and yogurt to mix it up a little!Chelsea Crockett - Breakfast Parfait

Grab a couple of small glasses and fill it half way with whatever kind of yogurt you prefer. Then top it with some granola and the fruit to go with it! Take the one on the right for example. This person put vanilla yogurt, granola, some berries on top! It’s making my mouth water just thinking about it!

So next time you wake up craving something delicious and nutritious, try whipping up your own fruity breakfast parfait, whatever way you like it!

Oatmeal Acne Cleanser

Oatmeal Acne Cleanser
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/chelsea-crockett-oatmeal-acne-cleanser.jpg

For a lot of people, oatmeal is just a classic breakfast food. What they may not know is that oatmeal is a classic skin treatment, too! It can be used to treat dry skin and itching, as well as to reduce redness and protect the skin against UV rays and sun damage. It can also be used to treat sunburns! Here is how you can use oatmeal to cleanse your skin:oatmeal-close-up

Take a handful of oatmeal. Make a fist around it, and run your fist under lukewarm water for about 10 seconds. You

should feel the water seeping through your fingers and wetting the oatmeal. Then, open your fist and wet the oatmeal just a little bit more. Lean over the sink, and spend about a minute massaging the oatmeal onto your face. It can get a bit messy, so that is why you should lean over the sink. Rinse the oatmeal off with warm water and pat your face dry.

If you often have red, irritated skin, then this remedy is perfect for you! If you love having clear beautiful skin, I recommend this all natural treatment!

XOXO, Chels

Orange and Baking Soda Mask

Orange and Baking Soda Mask
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/chelsea-crockett-orange-and-baking-soda-mask.jpg

I am always looking for new natural beauty remedies. A lot of times, choosing to make your own beauty concoctions is a cheaper alternative to buying them, and they are a lot better for you! Here is how to make your very own refreshing exfoliating mask!

Ingredients:NH-SO10-orange-slice

-          Oranges

-          Baking Soda

That is all you need! I love beauty remedies that have very few ingredients because they are simple, which means they are easy to make and easy to find the ingredients to! So, take a tablespoon of juice from your oranges and one tablespoon of baking soda and mix the two ingredients together in a small bowl to create a paste. Spread a thin layer of the paste on your face. Leave the mixture on for about 20 minutes, and don’t worry if it starts to tingle! That means it is doing its job.  Dampen your fingertips and scrub the mask in a circular motion to exfoliate your problem areas. Rinse the mask off of your face and admire your skin! Not only will you smell like a citrus goddess, you will have super clean glowing skin.

Like I said, I love keeping things all natural and homemade. Try this mask and see what you think! You may even have these ingredients laying around your kitchen. Bonus!

XOXO, Chels

Scented Hair

Scented Hair
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/chelsea-crockett-scented-hair.jpg

I love when people tell me “Wow, your hair smells AMAZING!” It gives me a little boost of confidence, and who doesn’t love smelling awesome?! I know that when I smell good, I feel good. Here is a little secret on how to have the best smelling hair around, so when people hug you or somehow get a wiff of your luscious locks, you are smelling like a fresh field of daises. (Or whatever your preferred scent is :) )no-51

Grab your hair brush that you use every day. Clean the hair out of it (my least favorite thing in the whole wide world).

Then, spray your hair brush with your favorite perfume. It can be whatever scent you choose! Do you have a signature scent? After you have sprayed your brush, run it through your hair. This will give your locks a light but lovely scent.

Like I said, when I smell good I feel good. Try this sneaky trick out before going on a date, out to dinner, or even before you go to school! You will be smelling good alllll day long.

XOXO, Chels

How to Refresh After P.E.

How to Refresh After P.E.
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/Chelsea-Crockett-how-to-refresh-after-pe.jpg

I’m sure if I took a poll, most of you would say you hated P.E.  I can’t say I don’t disagree with you.  I love working out, but being forced to run in the middle of the day and then go to class right after is madness!  All that effort of doing my hair and makeup has gone right down the drain and not to mention the stinky after smell.  Luckily, in a few simple steps you can be back to normal and refreshed for the rest of the day!Chelsea Crockett- ribbon hair tie

Pack a small cosmetic bag consisting of a ribbon hair tie, wash cloth, facial wipes, face powder, and deodorant.  Before P.E. starts, put your hair up using a ribbon hair tie which won’t leave a crease.  This way, you’ll be able to wear your hair the same way it was before!  Once P.E. is over and you’re all sweaty, grab the wash cloth and wipe off all excess sweat.  Be sure to get the hairline and face!  Next, use a facial wipe to remove all face makeup except eye makeup.  Apply fresh powder and deodorant to get yourself back to looking, feeling, and smelling normal.

P.E. isn’t so bad after all!

Fabulous Face Primers!

Fabulous Face Primers!
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/Chelsea-Crockett-Face-Primers.jpg

Face primers can be hard to find. Some leave an oily residue and others dry out your skin! I’ve been through several products that have done just that, but luckily I have found a few that work well with my skin! Here are three that I absolutely suggest :)!

Bare Minerals is one of my fave makeup brands! No matter what I purchase, I’m almost always satisfied! Their Prime Time BB Primer-Cream not only primes your skin for makeup but helps both dry and oily skin. Since it is part BB cream, it covers blemishes and presents an even skin tone. It also contains 30 SPF so you’re prepared for your day poolside or at the beach!

For those with sensitive skin, Clinique is always your best bet! Their Superprimer Face Primers are perfect for those who worry about trying new products on their skin. Clinique makes sure their products won’t breakout your face, yet still do the job! The primer does just that and has amazing quality.

Chelsea Crockett - Smashbox PrimerAlthough this is technically a primer, I just have to throw in one last product. Smashbox’s Photo Matte Anti-Shine is a cream-gel formula that is absolutely amazing for people with oily skin. You can apply this cream before or after you put on makeup, depending on the type of foundation you use. It instantly soaks up any excess oil and minimizes your pores. It works for up to 8 hours so you don’t need to reapply continuously throughout the day!

Let me know which product is your favorite!

Back to School Boots

Back to School Boots
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/chelsea-crockett-back-to-school-booties.jpg

Shoes are my favorite. Scratch that, BOOTS are my favorite! If you are like me, that means you are heading back to school soon. Booo! But, school doesn’t have to be such a bummer. Know why? Because school means that you get to dress to impress every day! And what better way to turn heads than a great pair of boots. Here are my favorite boots for back to school!

Simple ankle booties: These boots can be worn with anything from dresses to skirts to shorts to jeans! It is still pretty hot when school is starting back up, so you definitely want to stick to shorter boots. That is why you can pair these simple booties with skirts or shorts! They are super versatile and add a can dress your outfit up.Cutout-Boots-Under-100

Cut out booties: Have you seen anyone out and about wearing these …boots? I love them. Why? Because they are so

different. They are subtly edgy, but also simple. You can also wear these with these with skirts shorts and dresses, just like the boots above. These boots also have a slight heel to them, so they give you a little extra oomf and can be worn in casual or dressy situations.

Fringe booties: These go with the boho trend that you will be seeing this fall. They are fun, flirty, and free spirited!

Will you be rocking any of these booties when you head back to school? I know I will!
