Summer Whites

Summer Whites
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/chelsea-crockett-summer-whites.jpg

When I think of summer style, I think of white. White is such a bright, crisp, clean color and can give off a beachy, breezy vibe. Here are a few of my favorite white summer pieces to wear in the summer.

  1. LWD: Or, little white dress! I love sundresses. You will see me wearing a dress way more than shorts during the summer. They are a great way to look cute and stay cool at the same time! I am loving the halter style of top this season, so for this blog I am choosing to show you a halter style sundress. So cute and can be worn in both casual and dressy situations!white1

  2. Romper: A white romper is playful and so pretty. This romper also has the halter style top! If you don’t want to wear a sundress but shorts and a tank don’t sound appealing, then rompers are a perfect middle ground. So cute and so comfy.

  3. Off the shoulder top: To me, off the shoulder tops are so fun and flirty. They are also cool and breezy so they keep you from getting too toasty. I love this effortless, easy going look.

I love summer whites, don’t you?

Smashbox’s 3 Step Contouring for Beginners

Smashbox’s 3 Step Contouring for Beginners
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/Chelsea-Crockett-Smashbox-Contour-Trio.jpg

Contouring is a difficult process that I’m still learning to perfect myself. One side is always too dark, too light, too whatever, and it’s hard to master the process! Chelsea Crockett - Smashbox TrioSmashbox has come out with a much easier way to successfully contour… So, for those of you that want a quick and easy process, follow this three step guide.

To start out, you’ll need to purchase Smashbox’s Step-by-Step Contour Stick Trio pictured on the left. This product includes three different makeup sticks: the contour, the highlighter, and the bronzer. The main focus of this trio is to shape and define your jawline, nose, and of course, cheekbones. The contour stick adds the shaping feature to your face while the highlight stick brings brightness to the area. Chelsea Crockett - ContourThe bronzer works to blend the two together to create the perfect blended contour!

Once you’ve bought the set, you’re ready to begin! Depending on your skin tone and face structure, you’ll have to play around with where and how much you’ll apply to your skin. Add the contour stick to the areas shown on the picture to the right. Then apply the highlight stick to the areas above the cheekbones. Finish by blending the two together with the bronze stick!

Smashbox considers this trio one of their favorites because it “mimics perfect lighting.” So… what are you waiting for?!

How to Rock a Middle Part

How to Rock a Middle Part
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/Chelsea-Crockett-Middle-Part.jpg

Middle parts can be tricky. You may be nervous to break away from the side part you’ve been comfortable with all your life! Middle parts represent a high fashion look that can be worn for more formal occasions, curled or straight, or for your everyday look if that’s what you prefer. Once you’re ready to give it a try, follow these simple steps!Chelsea Crockett - Taylor Hill Middle Part

  1. Get your hair used to it. It takes a while to train your hair to stay a certain way. If you’ve parted your hair on the side your whole life, it’ll take a few times to make it look natural. Definitely start by parting it the way you want it after you shower or when it’s wet.

  2. Use the right tools. By blow drying your hair after you shower, it’ll help force it to stay.

  3. Frame your face. By using a straightener, you can frame your hair around your face, whether you want it curled or straightened. This will help make it look more natural and styled!

  4. Find a style that fits your cut. Depending on the length and cut of your hair, you’ll have to find a style that looks best on you. Like the picture on the right, she used her layers to her advantage and loosely curled each piece.

Training your hair to a new style is the hardest but most important step of rocking a middle part. Once you achieve that, then you’re ready to tackle the next step!

Good luck! – Chels

Why You Shouldn’t Be Afraid of Failure

Why You Shouldn’t Be Afraid of Failure
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/Chelsea-Crockett-Failure.jpg

Failure can be a terrifying thing. You may think you have everything figured out until life takes an unexpected turn. You may be confused and not understand why you can’t succeed. There is much to know about failure including all of the wonderful blessings hidden throughout it. If you’re trying to get through a time of disappointment or failure, then this article is for you!Chelsea Crockett - Failure Quote

In 2 Corinthians 4:2, it says “We are persecuted, but God does not leave us. We are hurt sometimes, but we are not destroyed.” Even back in biblical times, God’s people felt pain, rejection, and of course, failure. Proverbs 24:16 says, “The righteous may fall seven times but still get up, but the wicked will stumble into trouble.” Like the picture above, God wants us to persevere, especially through times where we don’t believe we can.

I know you all have heard me talk about the verse Jeremiah 29:11 a numerous amount of times… But if you don’t know it, it says, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” I’ve always loved this verse because it constantly reminds me that I shouldn’t be afraid of failure or a little fork in the road. At the end of the day, God will provide a better plan than we could ever put together ourselves. Trust in God and know that we will be successful if we simply follow Him!

4 Different Everyday Sunscreens

4 Different Everyday Sunscreens
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/Chelsea-Crockett-Sunscreens.jpg

Research shows that sunscreen can benefit your skin by wearing it every day, not just when you’re at the pool. There are tons of different everyday sunscreens whether your skin is oily, dry, sensitive, etc. You may only be outside for 5 minutes, but sunscreen can benefit your skin in more ways than just protecting you from harmful rays!

  1. For sensitive skin, Clinique offers a mineral sunscreen that is fragrance free and less irritating than other sunscreens. Chelsea Crockett - Coola SunscreenYou won’t have to worry about breaking out or having a negative reaction when putting sunscreen on your face.

  2. For oily skin, Neutrogena has a dry-touch sunscreen that is oil-free and won’t clog your pores. It’s lightweight and leaves you with a clean finish. As long as you find an oil-free product, you should be set!

  3. If you rely on organic skincare, Coola has the perfect products for you. All of their products are eco-conscious and prevent harm to your skin and the environment!

  4. For dry skin, find a sunscreen that is considered a moisturizer, too. This way you can tackle both dry skin and protection from the sun!

Which product is your go-to sunscreen? With summer in full swing, I may have to give it a try!

5 Tips for When You’re Feeling Far from God

5 Tips for When You’re Feeling Far from God
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/Chelsea-Crockett-Far-from-God.jpg

We all have bad days. Whether it’s something as little as a bad grade or something a lot bigger, you may start to feel far from God. Sometimes you lose faith or don’t have the time to grow and build your relationship with Christ. It can be frustrating and confusing but we’ve all been there. I came up with a few tips to turn your bad days to good days :).

  • Set apart some alone time to spend with God. Chelsea Crockett - God QuoteIf we never spend time with our friends and family, we will slowly grow apart from them. It’s the same thing with God! Never having some quiet time to listen for what God is trying to tell you will result in farness from God and His plan.
  • Pray, pray, pray. Prayer is powerful! Speaking to God one-on-one will strengthen your relationship with Him.
  • Text a friend from church, a youth leader, etc. If you have a church family that you can rely on, use that to your advantage! If you can’t talk and pray with someone in your family, seek advice from a fellow Christian.
  • Go to church. What’s a better place to get closer to God than being surrounded by good fellowship and the Word?
  • Listen to Christian music. I know when I’m feeling down, I love to listen to my favorite Christian artists. Their songs send very powerful messages that I sometimes need to hear!

I hope these tips help you draw nearer to God and help you remember how much he loves you.

Love, Chelsea

How to Get Things Done Even When you Really Don"t Want to

How to Get Things Done Even When you Really Don"t Want to
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/Pretty_DIY_to-do_lists_SheKnows008_f9dcai.jpg

To me, one of the worst feelings is knowing I have a ton of stuff to do but not wanting to do a single bit of it. You know the feeling, I’m sure. It is summer, you are laying on the couch chilling, but your to-do list is running through your head and you are starting to get anxious about everything you have to get done. You would much rather watch one more episode of Gilmore Girls than pick up your summer homework or clean your house like your mom asked you to. We all want to be productive, but sometimes we lack the motivation. Here are 4 ways to get things done when you flat out don’t want to.

  1. Keep the goal in mind: if you just remember why it is important that you get your task done, and put things into perspective, it can help you stay motivated to start and finish.84514
  2. Start with the worst: If you start with your least favorite task first, then the rest of the list won’t seem so bad! If you really hate running errands or cleaning bathrooms or doing homework, then do those first thing, and then you will feel relieved and motivated to power through the rest of your to-dos.
  3. Change your perspective: Rather than grumbling about how much you hate this and would rather be doing other things, give yourself a positive pep talk. Next time you are tempted to complain about a task and put it off, try and think to yourself that you can do it, and if you get it done now you will have time to do things you like later.
  4. Bribe yourself: Our brains are wired to seek reward. So, next time you have a to-do list a mile long, tell yourself, for example, that you will work on it for an hour and a half, then you can have a break and watch one episode of your favorite show. Then you will go back to your list, then rest. Taking breaks will keep you productive and motivated!

Now that you have these tips, your to-do list doesn’t stand a chance!

Life Lessons From 2 Timothy 4:17

Life Lessons From 2 Timothy 4:17
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/chelsa-crockett-life-lessons-from-2-Timothy-4-17.jpg

2 Timothy 4:17 says “But the Lord stood by be and strengthened me.” Have you ever felt like no one had your back and you were alone? This verse tells us that we never have to feel like that, because God has our back, always.

In situations where I feel like my faith is being attacked or I am being personally attacked, I always try to remember that the Lord is standing by me and strengthening me. Being on YouTube, I can read the comments on my videos, and sometimes they are not the timothysweetest words. Don’t get me wrong, there are way more sweet, nice comments and supporters than there are negative Nancy’s. But, sometimes those negative comments can overshadow all of the good. That is when I remember that the Lord with with me and is strengthening me. When you feel like you are alone in a situation, when you feel attacked or belittled, or you just feel weak and helpless, just remember that the Lord is always by your side, strengthening you.

You are never alone, and you never have to feel weak or helpless! God has your back, always.

Why You Should Unfriend Your Ex

Why You Should Unfriend Your Ex
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/chelsea-crockett-why-you-should-unfriend-your-ex.jpg

Trust me, I know it is tempting to continue following your ex on social media post-breakup. You want to keep tabs on him, see how he is dealing with the breakup, and how quickly he gets over you. Let me tell you, girl, it isn’t healthy. Here are 3 reasons you should unfriend your ex.

  1. It is hurting more than it is helping: Sometimes, seeing that your ex hasn’t unfriended you after a breakup can make you think that there is hope of you two getting back together. It can also prevent you from moving on. Seeing that ex and what they are up to can make you miss them and forget the reasons you broke up in the first place. It can also tempt you into trying to contact them and get back together. Unfriend them so that you can move on to bigger and better things!unfriend
  2. You won’t compare yourself: Being able to see what they are up to and who they are starting to date hurts. By unfriending them you are preventing yourself from the hurt that comes from comparing yourself to their new boo. It is easy to wonder who is doing better right now, you or him. Did they start dating someone new and you are still single? Did they get a better job than you have? Who cares what they are doing. And who cares who they moved on to. Don’t compare yourself to their new love interest. Your life is just as amazing as theirs, and you are just as great of a person as their new boo, so deleting them allows you to enjoy the ups and downs of your own life.
  3. You will be more of a mystery: If you want to seem like more of a mystery, and like you have moved on to better things, deleting your ex is a great idea. They won’t have access to your profiles and can’t see how you are doing, so they will become curious. If you are friends with them, all they have to do is pull up your profile to see how you are. If you aren’t friends, they actually have to reach out and ask you. If you are wanting to re-connect with them, this is the best way to do so!

Clicking that “unfriend” button is one of the best things you can do for yourself!

XOXO, Chels

Strawberry Pineapple Salsa

Strawberry Pineapple Salsa
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/chelsea-crockett-strawberry-pineapple-salsa.jpg

When I think about summer snacks, fruit always seems to come to mind. A juicy, sweet piece of fruit always seems to hit the spot in the sweltering heat. If you are a fruit lover, and a snacker, then you will love this totally snack-worthy fruit salsa recipe! Plus, you can make cinnamon tortilla chips to dip into your sweet salsa. Delish!

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups pineapple chunksstrawberrypineapplesalsa2_bakedbyrachel
  • 2 cups chopped strawberry
  • 8 tortillas, 8 inches wide
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted, melted butter
  • 6 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 ½ teaspoon cinnamon

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees, and line two baking sheets with parchment paper. Combine the cinnamon and sugar in a bowl and set it aside. Cut your tortillas into chip-sized pieces. Cut them like you would a pizza. Brush the pieces with melted butter and then sprinkle the cinnamon sugar on them. Bake them for 10-15 minutes, then transfer them to a plate to cool. In a big bowl, toss the pineapple and strawberry chunks. If you want, you can add a dash of sugar to this to sweeten it up a bit. Now all that is left to do is gobble this fresh treat up with your cinnamon sugar chips!

So yummy and so fresh!

XOXO, Chels

Bad Company Ruins Good Morals

Bad Company Ruins Good Morals
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/3f0f51423ed67a1d5e5817ee7504c466.jpg

Have you ever heard the phrase “you are who you hang out with”? This phrase comes from 1 Corinthians 15:33 which says “bad company ruins good morals.” What does this mean and why should it mean anything to you?

Ill tell ya why. This is one of the most important verses for our age group to hear. Who you hang out with has a huge impact on your life. I cannot stress this enough. HUGE impact. I have had the privilege of being surrounded with many friends that share the same beliefs and morals as me, and I cannot tell you what a positive impact that has had on my life. It has motivated me to strive to serve others and God, and honor Him with my actions and words and life. As I get ready to move on to college and make new friends I am FullSizeRender (89)realizing the importance of the friends I will make. High school and college are such pivotal times in our lives. They set us up for our future and who we will become. When you are surrounded by good company and people that share the same beliefs with you, it is easy to continue to live the life you know you should be living. When you hang out with people who do not share the same morals as you, and maybe don’t understand why you believe the way you do, it can have a serious impact on your life. I"m not saying not to have friends who don’t believe the way you do, I am saying to limit your time with them. Be smart with the situations you are in with them. You can be a witness to them, but they can also be a negative influence on you. It is easy to go with the flow and do what everyone else is doing, even when you know it is wrong, because so many other people are saying it is okay. This is why the verse says that bad company corrupts good morals. Your faith needs to be protected and nurtured, and that is what happens when you hang out with people that share your beliefs.

Be smart with who you hang out with, because it can impact the person you become.

DIY American Flag Cuffs

DIY American Flag Cuffs
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/Chelsea-Crockett-DIY-American-Flag-Cuffs.jpg

In honor of Fourth of July coming up, it’s the perfect time for some American flag DIYs to help put together your red, white, and blue outfit. With Pinterest being the hub for all things DIY, I found a craft that’s simple and produces the cutest, festive results! You’ll need a few tools and materials to get started.

As far as what you need, there’s not much!Chelsea Crockett - American Flag Cuffs You’ll need a pair of jeans that can be cuffed (preferably boyfriend style or ripped), safety pins, an American flag printed material, thread, and a needle. You can either find an American flag material at a craft store or substitute something as simple as a flag bandana. After you have the right tools and materials, you’re ready to begin your DIY!

  • First things first, turn your jeans inside out.
  • Pick which piece of material you want for each cuff and use safety pins to attach the fabric to the jeans.
  • Then, like the picture above, use the thread and needle to sow the material on!
  • Turn your jeans right-side out to enjoy your new patriotic pants!

It’s as easy as that! I can’t wait to see how yours turned out this holiday!

Fourth of July Outfits: What to Wear in 2016

Fourth of July Outfits: What to Wear in 2016
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/Chelsea-Crockett-Fourth-of-July-Outfits.jpg

Fourth of July is the perfect day for boating, barbeques, and celebrating the awesome country we get to call home! It’s also the perfect day for dressing up in your most stylish red, white, and blue gear. This year, I decided to put together a few looks that put a little twist on fourth of July attire.

Chelsea Crockett - Fourth of July JacketThe first look is the picture on the left. I love this statement jacket that pairs perfectly with a simple outfit! A pair of black shorts and a black tank top is all you need with this jacket. Finish it off with a cute pair of sunglasses and sandals or converse. If you start to feel the heat, roll up your sleeves like she did on the left!

Depending on where you live, it may be too chilly to wear shorts and a cute tank.Chelsea Crockett - Fourth of July Sweater You may need long sleeves or pants. Depending on what events you’re attending on the fourth will determine how festive you’re going to dress. If you’re attending a theme party, why not go all out and get a fun pair of fourth of July leggings?! If you’re just hanging out with friends, try a flag sweater like the one on the right to pair with some jean shorts.

These are just a couple looks for the upcoming holiday! What are you wearing this year? Tell me below!

How You Make Other"s Feel Says a Lot About You

How You Make Other"s Feel Says a Lot About You
https://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/FullSizeRender-87.jpg

I heard a piece of advice the other day that hit me pretty hard and really opened my eyes. The advice was to be be aware of how you make others feel about themselves because it says a lot about you.

Why did this hit me hard? Because I had never thought of it that way. I had never realized what an impact my words could have on someone, and, in turn, reflect back on myself. Of course I knew that words are powerful tools and can do pretty severe damage when used negatively towards someone, but the way this advice spelled it out was different than anything I had ever heard. It is so true, what you dothough, that how we make others feel about themselves says a lot about us. If we are an encourager and build other people up and make them feel confident, then that shows that we are mature and confident in who WE are. If we cut people down, make negative remarks to them, or belittle them, this shows people that we are not mature and are not confident in who we are, so we have to bring others down to our level in order to feel better about ourselves. Who would you rather be? The encourager or the negative Nancy? Whatever you are, how you make others feel says a lot about your personality and the type of person you are.

I encourage you to treat others how you would want to be treated, and to treat them with love and respect to show others the mature, caring person that you are. How you treat others says a lot about who you are on the inside.

XOXO, Chels

Internship Pointers

Internship Pointers
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/Chelsea-Crockett-Internship-Pointers.jpg

For those of you jumping into a new internship, it can be pretty nerve-racking, especially if you’re new to the interning world. You may not know the rules and guidelines to follow, like how to act, what to wear, etc. I came up with some pointers that will help you be successful when you begin your new internship!Chelsea Crockett - Internship Advice

  • Of course, good first impressions are important. But even more importantly is keeping that first impression throughout your entire internship! Throughout the entire time, keep offering your help and treating everyone in the office with respect.
  • Stand out! Reach out to your coworkers and make yourself memorable. If you have ideas of your own, speak your mind when the time is appropriate!
  • Pay attention to details. If someone is teaching you how to do something, take notes! Remember the little things people mention to you. You’ll not only gain experience but it’ll help you in the long run!
  • Lastly, make sure you keep in touch with people at your internship, especially those with connections. If you don’t get offered a job, there’s always a chance you could get referred to another company. Email those who got you the internship even after it’s over, and something may work in your favor!

Whether you’re in the middle of your internship or about to begin one, I hope these pointers help you out!

Best Selfie Editing Apps

Best Selfie Editing Apps
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/Chelsea-Crockett-Selfie-Apps.jpg

The task of getting the perfect selfie can be a tough process. Obviously the right angle and lighting is key, but picking the perfect edit is the final ingredient! I love playing around with different filters to see which one makes my photo look best. There are three apps I use in particular that I’ve been obsessed with!

  • VSCO is one of my favorite apps for editing any picture. There are tons of filters that will give your photo more of a professional look. Chelsea Crockett - FacetuneYou can adjust all aspects of your selfie from lighting to sharpness to undertones. You can even post your edited pictures to your VSCO feed to share with others!
  • This app is one of the most complex editing apps there is. You can do almost anything from teeth whitening to getting rid of dark circles or blemishes. There are also filters for you to finish off the job!
  • Afterlight was one of the first apps I used to edit my pictues. Just like VSCO, there are tons of filters and different edits to customize your selfie. It’s $0.99 but definitely worth it!

Which is your favorite selfie editing app? Let me know and I’ll try it out for myself! :)

How to Get Natural Highlights

How to Get Natural Highlights
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/chelsea-crockett-how-to-get-natural-highlights-.jpg

When summer comes around, I sometimes have an urge to go blonde. Not totally blonde, just blond-er. The problem is that highlights are pretty pricey, and who has time for a trip to the salon when there is so much fun to be had in the summer months? If you want your hair to have a beachy, sun-kissed look this summer, here is the natural way to do so!

  1. Create your own salt spray: Mix a bit of salt with water, spray it on your hair (which opens the cuticle), and then go lay in the sun. This will fade your hair into a lighter color.images (1)
  2. Grab some lemon juice: Before heading out into the sun, add some lemon juice to your strands. The acid in the juice opens your cuticle, same as the salt water example above, leaving it open to the sun’s rays.
  3. Mix lemon and orange: If you are going for more golden, subtle highlights, mix orange and lemon juice together and do the same steps as above.

These DIY highlight concoctions are so easy to make, and fun to implement! Spray stuff on my hair, then go lay in the sun? Easy peasy.

XOXO, Chels

College Orientation: Do’s and Don’ts

College Orientation: Do’s and Don’ts
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/Chelsea-Crockett-College-Orientation.jpg

College orientation is a good place to meet people and get prepared for your first year as a college student. Along with a lot of you, I just graduated high school, so orientation is coming up! There are certain things you must do during orientation. That being said, there are also things you must avoid, as well!

DO’S

  • Dress appropriately for the occasion! You will be meeting a lot of other students and even counselors of your new school.
  • Be social! Depending on where you go to college, there’s a big chance of you not knowing many people. Be talkative and engage in conversation. Everyone else there is trying to make friends just like you!
  • Ask questions. It’s hard to know what to expect when you leave for college. Orientation is supposed to answer some of those questions! Be curious and attentive in the seminars, meetings, etc.Chelsea Crockett - College Orientation

DON’TS

  • Don’t forget to bring all of your orientation essentials (especially if it’s overnight). Pack the right clothes along with everything the school requires. You may need to fill out forms or packets before arriving!
  • Don’t go unprepared. There are tons of things you’ll need to consider before orientation: which classes you want to take, how many credit hours of classes you want, etc. Have an idea in your head of what you want your schedule to look like!

I hope you have a successful college orientation :)!

Quay Australia Sunglasses

Quay Australia Sunglasses
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/Chelsea-Crockett-Quay-Australia-Sunglasses.jpg

Born in the land down under, Quay Australia has been manufacturing sunglasses since 2004. They started roadside on the festival circuit only to windup selling their line of sunglasses internationally in 2009. Their brand has spread throughout the world and all of social media. Even celebs have been spotted rocking their shades!

Quay Australia is not like other brands of sunglasses. They offer tons of unique styles that aren’t like the classic looks such as aviators or wayfarers (although they do offer those as well!). Chelsea Crockett - Quay SunglassesA handful of celebrities have been seen wearing them including Shay Mitchell, Gigi Hadid, and Cara Delevingne! The shades and even the rims themselves come in different colors and patterns.

One of the most popular styles is called “my girl.” Even in this single style they offer four different color combos! The girl on the left is wearing them in the black/pink combo. They also have black/blue, clear/silver, and brown with speckled rims.

Another popular style is called “muse.” If you like simple and the aviator look, then you’ll love these! They also come in four different color combos as well. If you like more of a unique look, Quay offers tons of these too! Most pairs are around $60 which isn’t a bad deal when you compare their prices to other brands.

Especially since summer is in full swing, I urge you to buy a pair for days in the sun! :)

Love, Chels

How to Survive Life"s Seasons

How to Survive Life"s Seasons
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/all-of-my-life-in-every-season-you-are-still-god-i-have-the-reason-to-sing-i-hve-the-reason-to-worship-christianity-quote.jpg

Life is all about seasons. No, not “summer spring fall” seasons, LIFE seasons. Seasons like grade school, high school, college, your first job, marriage, the death of a family member, all big life events that come and go but can be categorized as a “season” in our life. Each season is different and presents different challenges. For instance, my life’s season right now is the “graduated high school and moving out” season. This season is filled with uncertainty, sadness because I will be moving away from my family, and nerves, but it is also filled with excitement, anticipation, and joy. I have a bit of advice on how to stay calm, keep your cool, and keep a healthy mindset during life’s toughest seasons. Read on.

  1. Take a few minutes to rest: Don’t underestimate the power of a few minutes of rest. It may seem like a waste of time, but five or ten minutes of sitting with your eyes closed and turning off your brain is so refreshing. Snatch up every minute of rest that you can.
  2. Try to be in the middle of something all the time: What I mean is, try to be in the middle of a great TV series or a good book or a fun movie. When you are in the middle of something you are tempted to finish it. This practically forces you to take time for yourself. And you should let yourself do it! It gives you something to look forward to and gives you an outlet for some “me time.”ae644503a1e81ca13ea4a95c694a5115
  3. Learn how to ignore things: Now these things don’t include your mom or homework, but they do include text messages and other nonessential tasks. When you are in the midst of your busiest seasons, life gets overwhelming, and a messy room, a phone full of unanswered texts, or a dirty car can send you over the edge and make you feel like your whole life is out of control. Take a deep breath and realize that these things don’t really matter. Your messy room can stay messy for one more day. Take the time that you would have spent cleaning it and close your eyes and rest. You need to keep yourself rested and healthy. Once your season calms down, that is the time to tackle that messy room and dirty car.

Making use of these practices can help you to stay afloat in the stormier seasons of life, when you may not be able to feel truly rested. No matter what your circumstances, it’s important to be good to yourself and strap on that proverbial oxygen mask so you can breathe a little easier.

These are just a few ways I keep my head on straight and my mind at ease during my life’s crazy seasons. How do YOU handle yours?

XOXO, Chels

How to Feel Fresh When You Haven"t Showered

How to Feel Fresh When You Haven"t Showered
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/chelsea-crockett-how-to-feel-fresh-when-you-havent-showered.jpg

Let’s face it. We all strive to shower every day, but sometimes it just doesn’t happen. Life gets busy, schedules get tighter, you have places to go and people to see and no time to take a shower! There are a few ways to get the just-showered fresh feeling without taking the time to, well, actually shower. So, if you’ve been busy all day and don’t have time to hop in the shower before heading out the door, here are a couple of ways to freshen up fast.

  1. Hair fragrance mist: Good-smelling hair is always a confidence booster. When you have fresh hair, you feel fresh all over, that is why hair mist is a must. Spritz some hair fragrance mist onto your locks before running out the door to leave your tresses smelling fabulous.k2-_58f0fc6c-3aae-4f3b-bc0f-8b25b94f9ae3.v1
  2. Dry shampoo: If you don’t have hair mist, opt for dry shampoo! It will suck up all of the oils and sweat from your hair and leave it smelling and looking fresh.
  3. Blotting papers: Use absorbent facial blotting papers to blot away the excess oil on your face throughout the day. I know when I have a busy day and I am going from one task to another, I can feel my face getting oily and shiny. These keep your makeup looking fresh and matte by dabbing the excess oil off of your face.
  4. Baby wipes: Use any sort of wet wipe to freshen up during the day. Keep a package in your purse so that you can freshen up any time you need. These give your skin a quick refresher and leave you smelling and feeling fresh and clean.

I know how crazy busy life can get, and how showering can become a sort of chore because you have way better uses of your time than standing in a stream of water, so that is why these tips are so useful!

What to Ask Yourself Before a Breakup

What to Ask Yourself Before a Breakup
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/chelsea-crockett-What-to-Ask-Yourself-Before-a-Breakup.jpg

I don’t know anyone who starts a relationship by thinking they will break up soon. Although no one likes to think about it, the reality is that most of us will dump or be dumped multiple times before we find Mr. Right. When you are the one doing the breaking up, things can get awkward. Really awkward. No breakup is easy, and it doesn’t happen overnight. The feelings and realizations that the relationship isn’t working happen over time. Before you decide to break up with someone, there are a few things you should ask yourself in order to make the process as painless, for both of you, as possible.

  1. What is the reason I want to break up with them?: This is something you will get asked a lot. “Why did you break up?” To prepare yourself for this, write down your feelings. Make a list of pros and cons of breaking up, or write down the reasons you think you should, just so that you can go back later and be confident in your decision and not feel regret.images (3)
  2. “What will things be like after we break up?”: Most people who are dating see one another a lot. They hang out a lot, see each other’s families a lot, and are pretty invested in one another’s lives. Once you break up, all of that changes. This is one of the toughest parts of a breakup, the “not being with each other all the time” part. But this also means that now, since you are single, you can focus on yourself more and hang out with friends or do things you want to do when you want to do them. Alone time is healthy!
  3. “How do I break up with them?”: Now that you are 100% confident that you want to break up with them, you should do the act in person. You need to be face to face so that there is no misunderstandings or unnecessary hurt feelings. Be confident, and be clear about why you are ending things.
  4. Reflect on the relationship: Everyone learns something from each relationship that they have been in, whether it is finding out that you love sushi or that you really don’t like it when the person you are dating chews with his mouth open. You learn more about yourself and about what you want in a life partner. Ask yourself what are some positive things you can take away from the relationship and focus on them when you feel down.

Breakups are tough, but they aren’t the end of the world. There is a light at the end of the tunnel! It gets better.

XOXO, Chels

College Life: Dorm Hacks

College Life: Dorm Hacks
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/Chelsea-Crockett-Dorm-Hacks.jpg

Recently, I’ve been brainstorming how I want my dorm room to look like. I’ve found different decorations and necessities to style my dorm the way I want it. With only so much space in your dorm room, you’re going to need some hacks to make moving in a little easier! You’ll also need some hacks for making your dorm as stylish as it can be, too!

  • Most residence halls at college will allow you to put your beds whatever way you want them. You can bunk them, loft them, or leave them normal. Lofting your bed gives you a whole new area of storage under your bed! You can put your clothes in plastic drawers or bins and store them easily.
  • iPhone chargers can be hard to tell apart, especially if you’re living with a few roommates. Customize yours by adding colorful tape or simply writing your initials on it so you don’t lose it!Chelsea Crockett - Dorm Hanger Hack
  • Dropdown hangers allow you to store your shirts and dresses much easier. The picture on the right shows you just how much space they can save!
  • For storing your jewelry, purchase a cork board that you can decorate to match your dorm room. After hanging it on the wall, you can use tacks to hang all of your necklaces! It works perfectly!

I hope these make your dorm experience a little easier! (I’ll definitely be using some of these myself!) :)

XOXO – Chelsea

Life Lessons from Psalm 37:5

Life Lessons from Psalm 37:5
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/chelsea-crockett-life-lessons-from-psalm-37-5.jpg

These days everybody has an opinion on how you should live your life. The only opinion that matters in MY life is that of the Lord. Psalm 37:5 says “Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him and He will act.” What does this verse mean?m

It means that once you commit your life and your “ways” to the Lord, you can trust in Him to guide your life. Once you give your heart to Him and commit to serving Him and living for Him, he will take your future in His hands and mold it into something you cannot even imagine. I can honestly say that giving my heart and my life to God has been the best thing to ever happen to me. Trusting that he has my future in His hands and has plans to help me prosper and thrive is so encouraging. He has already blessed my life with so many wonderful opportunities, and in everything He gives me I try to shine for Him. I have committed my life to Him and trust in His plans, so I know He will continue to guide my life. It may not always be easy to commit to the Lord, but I promise you it is worth it. Nothing good in this life comes easy.

If you do not know Jesus I pray that you would seek Him. He has big plans for you, girl!

How to Be Smart With Your Social Media Use

How to Be Smart With Your Social Media Use
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/Chelsea-Crockett-how-to-be-smart-with-your-social-media-usage.jpg

How many of you would say your social media use is at a healthy level? When I say healthy I mean that it doesn’t run your life. You don’t stop everything in the middle of the day just to check all of your accounts, it doesn’t affect your job or school productivity, you don’t stay up late scrolling and scrolling, and it doesn’t affect your self-esteem or make you jealous. Odds are, we all have a semi-unhealthy relationship with social media. Yes, social media is a great way to connect with people and is a fun distraction from life, but it can become almost an addiction if you aren’t careful. Here are a few ways to make sure your relationship with social media is a healthy one.

  1. Schedule time for social media: If you are like me, you end up scrolling your social media pages multiple times a day. I don’t even want to know how much time a day I waste doing that. To keep yourself more productive, designate a certain time of day to check your accounts and stick to it. Maybe it is checking it once in the morning, once in the afternoon, and once in the evening.download
  2. Delete the apps: If you have a tough time staying away from social media during the day, then delete the apps off of your phone. This doesn’t delete your accounts, it just deletes the easy access to them. It forces you to log on to the accounts on your computer instead of your phone so access to the sites isn’t as easy or instant.
  3. Be smart about who you follow: I know there are some people I follow on Instagram that I tend to get really jealous of. I get envious of their hair, their clear skin, even the places they travel! If you are following people that make you feel bad about yourself or make you feel left out, it is time to stop following them. The more time you spend comparing yourself with other people on social media the more depressed you get. Studies prove it! Just remind yourself that these are just posts, and their life isn’t as good as they make it look. A picture doesn’t tell their whole story.

Healthy social media use means that it doesn’t interfere with your happiness or self-esteem, and it doesn’t take up large amounts of your time. Social media is a great outlet when you’re smart with the way you use it!

XOXO, Chels

Faithbox: Growing Your Faith Monthly

Faithbox: Growing Your Faith Monthly
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/Chelsea-Crockett-Faithbox.jpg

I recently stumbled across an awesome Christian-based organization that has a concept that is unlike any other company. It’s called Faithbox, and its idea is focused on growing your faith monthly but also making an impact on the world around you. Let me explain what their concept is all about!Chelsea Crockett - Faithbox

Faithbox is an organization that sends its subscribers a monthly package filled with different messages and products from Christian-based companies like the picture above. All of the boxes include a small devotion and a variety of products from sunglasses to yummy snacks, depending on the month. Each box along with its products supports a non-profit organization.

Not only does it support these companies, but kids around the world. Each box sent also accounts for three meals shipped to hungry children around the world. In 2015, Faithbox provided over 100,000 meals to kids worldwide! Not only are you receiving gifts for yourself but providing a different type of present to hungry children.

You’re benefitting yourself, people across the globe, and tons of non-profit Christian organizations! I urge you to try it out :)! You won’t regret it.

Love, Chels

Things You Should Always Do on First Dates

Things You Should Always Do on First Dates
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/chelsea-crockett-first-date-dos.jpg

First dates = one of my least favorite things on the planet. They can be super awkward sometimes, and you get so nervous before them, and ugh. There are a lot of things we cant control when it comes to first dates, and the uncertainty is what makes us so nervous. There are a few things you CAN control that can make the date go more smoothly, and they are how you behave. Here are things you should always do on a first date.

  1. Dress to impress: both him and yourself! Usually, before a first date I try on lots of different outfits in hope of finding one I think will impress my date. Instead of trying to impress HIM, impress YOURSELF. Wear what makes you feel like you! Be confident in what you are wearing and he will notice!FullSizeRender (46)
  2. Be honest: If you are having a good time, say it! And if you aren’t, don’t say “I’m just not feeling it,” but also don’t tell him that you “want to do this again sometime.” If you didn’t like it, just tell him thank you for the date, and if he asks you out on a second one, just be polite and say no.
  3. Be polite: Say please and thank you. People notice when you do and when you don’t! If you want to make a positive impression, mind your manners. Put your phone away and give him your attention.
  4. Just be you: This is the most important point. First impressions are so so important, so make sure you give your date a good look at who you are. If you are an outgoing person, be outgoing! If you are not, don’t force it! Don’t be someone you think your date would like, just be yourself.

And finally…have fun! Yes, first dates are nerve wracking, but they can be the start of a beautiful thing!

A Guide to Making Friends in College

A Guide to Making Friends in College
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/chelsea-crockett-making-friends-in-college.jpg

When you think about going to college, what makes you the most nervous? One thing I am nervous about is leaving my friends and family behind. Not that I wont ever see them or talk to them, but when you move far away you naturally lose touch a little bit. Will it be hard making new friends in college? Do you ever worry about that? I do. Here are a few general tips on how to make friends in college.

  1. Make friends in your classes: Professors do cheesy “getting to know you” games on the first day of class for a reason! Be friendly and try to initiate conversation with people you think would make good friends. Not only is this good for your social life, it is also helpful to have a study buddy in the same class!61405480
  2. Keep your door open: If you live in the dorms, keep your door open if you are in your room. This invites people who are walking by to stick their head in and introduce themselves and invite you out. It is good to know who lives around you if you are wanting to go do something but don’t have anyone to go with.
  3. Join clubs: Join clubs that have to do with your major. Are you going into marketing? Join the marketing association! Not only will you meet people who are studying the same thing you are and can help you professionally, you will make some pretty great friends! Join fun clubs too, like bowling or belly dancing. These will keep you busy!
  4. Tag along: If one of your friends is going to do something with people you really don’t know, ask to go along! This is an easy way to make new friends because you know your friend will be there to make you feel more comfortable.

Now go get ‘em tiger!

Never Wear THIS To An Interview

Never Wear THIS To An Interview
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/chelsea-crockett-never-wear-this-to-an-interview.jpg

You did it! You landed a job interview. Now that you’ve got that accomplished, it is time to think about what you are going to wear! There are a lot of variables to keep in mind, like how the job you are interviewing for should influence what you wear, and how you shouldn’t dress too fashion forward because you want to be the star of the interview, not your handbag. There is one aspect that a lot of people overlook, and that is color. Different colors send different messages. What IS the best color to wear to a job interview? Read on to find out.

Safe choices:

  1. Blue: blue is a safe choice. Shades of blue send a message that you are trustworthy and credible, according to experts. It inspires confidence!
  2. Gray: if you want to send a message that you are logical and responsible, wear gray! If you want to add personality to a gray interview outfit, wear colored accessories like a purse of scarf.Dynamic-Navy-Dresses-Like-You-have-Never-Seen-Before-1
  3. White: white sends the message that you pay attention to details and that you are organized. A white blazer over a black dress or a white button down with a black skirt is a great, professional way to work white into your interview apparel.

Stay away from:

  1. Red: red shows power, but not in a good way. Studies show that people in charge of hiring say if you wear red to an interview, it can make you come across as aggressive and rebellious.
  2. Brown: brown can send the message that you are simple and old-fashioned, so if you are interviewing for a job where creativity and forward-thinking are required, brown is not a good choice of clothing color.
  3. Orange: studies show this is the absolute worst color to wear to an interview. They say it is an unprofessional color!

Now knock ‘em dead, champ!

5 Signs You Aren"t Ready to Get Back in the Dating Game

5 Signs You Aren"t Ready to Get Back in the Dating Game
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/chelsea-crockett-dating-again.jpg

Do you ever feel like you need to be in a relationship? Like, if all of your friends are dating someone, and Netflix romance movies makes it look like it could be fun, so you think maybe you should give it a try? Odds are you have felt this way at some point. When we think like this, we may feel like we should date the first person who shows some interest in us because if we don’t, we could end up forever alone (noooooooo!). Don’t let these thoughts drive you. Here is how to find out if you are not ready for a relationship.

  1. You still social media stalk your ex: If your sleuthing is on the Sherlock Holmes level, you probably aren’t over that person, hence you are not ready for a new relationship.via-christianfunnypictures.com_
  2. Your friends’ relationship drama makes you gag: If hearing about your friends’ relationship troubles makes you thank your lucky stars you aren’t dating a guy like that, then you might want to wait to get into the dating game.
  3. You like treating yourself: If you love your “me” time and don’t feel like sharing, then you aren’t ready for a relationship. And you know what? That is totally fine! When you are ready to date you will feel ready to share your time with someone else.

So, if you still social media stalk your ex, you hate hearing about your friends’ relationship drama, and you don’t feel like sharing your time, then you aren’t ready to get back in the dating saddle!

5 Things Every Christian Girl Needs to Know

5 Things Every Christian Girl Needs to Know
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/Chelsea-Crockett-5-Things-Every-Christian-Girl-Needs-to-Know.jpg

In today’s society, it can be hard to know your worth. There are too many guidelines and standards on what social norms a teenage girl should be living by. Growing up, there were many things that I wish I could’ve told myself that I’m still telling myself now. I put together some encouraging thoughts that may be helpful if you’re struggling in your life or in your daily walk of faith.

  • You are loved, whether you have a boyfriend or not, or whether you have a million friends or not.Chelsea Crockett - Bible Verse
  • You do not need a boyfriend to know your worth. Of course, all girls love for their crush to compliment them and to tell them how pretty they are. But just because you don’t have a boyfriend assuring you doesn’t mean you should think bad about yourself. God loves you and all your flaws!
  • You are not defined by your grades, your GPA, or your social life. There is so much emphasis on ACT scores, getting into a good college, etc. God loves you whether you’re at the top or bottom of your class.
  • Never feel like you need to fit in by dressing a certain way or going outside of your comfort zone.
  • Don’t dwell on the past. Your mistakes do not define you but only shape you into who you are today.

Hopefully this gives you a little encouragement to help you as you grow into the amazing person God made you to become!

Love, Chelsea

Midnight Snacking Done Right

Midnight Snacking Done Right
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/chelsea-crockett-midnight-snacking-done-right.jpg

Midnight snacking is one of my weaknesses. I am usually up pretty late at night finishing up homework or editing videos, and my tendency is usually to go down to the kitchen and grab myself a yummy late night snack. The problem with this? The later at night you eat, your body is more and more likely to store those calories as fat. Eating healthy midnight snacks can help keep you from consuming unnecessary calories!

  1. Greek yogurt: Instead of reaching for the pint of ice cream in your freezer (although very tempting!), grab some sweet, cool Greek yogurt. Top it with frozen berries or honey to add some pizazz to it!greek-yogurt-1
  2. Air-popped popcorn: Instead of reaching for a bag of potato chips, although crunchy and very satisfying, opt for air popped popcorn. Add some salt and a smidge of butter to make it taste just like bagged microwave popcorn, but with much fewer calories.
  3. Almond butter and apples: Peanut butter contains healthy fats, but it is also packed with calories. Get the same nutty, rich flavor from almond butter, and dip slices of your favorite type of apple in it! Salty AND sweet.
  4. Chocolate: Yes, chocolate! But the RIGHT kind of chocolate. Two squares of dark chocolate are sure to satisfy your sweet tooth and have way less sugar and more antioxidants.

Happy snacking!

XOXO, Chels

Why We Should Accept that Everyone"s Style is Different

Why We Should Accept that Everyone"s Style is Different
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/FullSizeRender-75.jpg

Walk through the halls of high school, mall, or walk through a college campus and you will discover one thing: everyone dresses differently. It may be subtly different or drastically unique, but there is no escaping the fact that everyone has their own personal style. And you know what? That is awesome! Life would be so boring if we were all the same! Unfortunately, sometimes we catch ourselves making fun of or negatively commenting on other people’s style, saying that it looks weird or isn’t the cutest. Here are just a few reasons why we shouldn’t make fun or bash other people’s personal style.

  1. Different is just different, it doesn’t make it ugly: For a lot of us, our tendency is to think that anything that is different from our own preferences isn’t cute or is wrong. If you love wearing colors and patterns, then simplistic style may seem boring and dull to you. If you love preppy style, the boho/hippie style trend is probably far from your favorite. But, just because we aren’t interested in it or don’t want to wear it ourselves doesn’t make it un-stylish or ugly!FullSizeRender (76)
  2. Style is personal: And it is also a journey. When I was in middle school and the early high school stages, I loved wearing name brands and t-shirts with their logos on them. Now, I rarely wear those brands, and tend to wear more trendy pieces and am more adventurous with my wardrobe. Your style changes as you change, and it can even depend on how you are feeling that day when you pick out your outfit! So, teasing someone on their outfit choice is ultimately telling them that their style isn’t as mature as yours or they have no clue about what is fashionable, when that isn’t the case at all!
  3. Experimenting is fun: Wearing the same style of clothes day after day can get boring, so switching up your style keeps things fun and interesting! Why wear what you think everyone else is wearing or what you think others will like when you can wear what YOU like and feel comfortable in? Experiment with different looks and have fun with fashion. Don’t put yourself in a style box and feel like you have to stay within that “style,” and don’t let others feel like you have to BE in a box!

So, next time you see someone wearing an outfit that is so not your style, just look at them and think “They have interesting personal style, and they totally rock it!” You know the awesome feeling of putting together an outfit that is totally “you” and how confident and pretty you feel when wearing it, so you can recognize when someone else is feeling that way about their outfit and themselves.

XOXO, Chels
