Organization Tips

Organization Tips
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/002-2-300x3001.jpg

Keeping my room clean is a HUGE struggle.  I’ve got clothes everywhere, magazines scattered all over my bed, and makeup upon makeup all over my vanity.  So how do I fix this problem?  I’ve finally come up with multiple organization tips that have really helped me keep my room clean and will benefit you as well.  Let’s get started!

Clothes, clothes, and more clothes…how do you fit so many clothes in a small closet?!  I only hang up nicer clothes, like dresses, skirts, and nice shirts.  The rest, I fold and organize by type: pajamas, shorts, tees, tanks, etc.  This way, you can find what you’re looking for easily.  Just place in drawers and voilà!Chelsea Crockett- Organization Tips                If you’re a makeup guru like me, then you’ve got lots of brushes.  A cute way to store your brushes is to place them in a fish bowl.  Sounds weird, I know, but trust me!  Add fun colored sand, rocks, or seashells to the bottom of the fish bowl and then place the brushes upside down so they stand upright.  It’s a cute, stylish way to showcase your makeup brushes.  Just place them on your vanity and there you go!  Cubbies are probably the greatest organization tool around.  They come in all sorts of colors and hold just about anything.  I like to keep cubbies under my bed and place all of my magazines in them. That way, I can access my magazines quick and easy.  It looks good too!  You can find the perfect sized cubbies right here on Amazon:http://tiny.cc/Cubbies.  Last, jewelry racks can be purchased at Target and display your jewelry in a cute and classy way.  It makes everything easy to find and it’s sort of like a decoration for the room.  Apply these tips and your room will be nice and organized!

Ps- Don’t forget about your laundry. Wink

Xoxo,

    Chelsea

Importance of Time Alone with God

Importance of Time Alone with God
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/chelsea-crockett-praying.jpg

As you might know, I just recently got back from church camp! The week I spent there was totally life changing and brought me so much closer to God. The biggest thing I learned at camp was how important time alone with God is. Time alone with God strengthens your relationship with the Lord and shows Him how much you love Him.

One way to make sure you spend time alone with God every day is to set out a time each day just for devotions or reading your Bible. For you morning people, as soon as you wake up you can make it a point to reach for your Bible or devotional. For you night owls, after you do your nightly routine, climb into bed or find a quiet place to spend some time with God.

Another way to make sure you spend time with Him is to get a devotional that applies to you and interests you. A good devotional for teens is “Email from God” by Claire Cloninger and Curt Cloninge. The daily devotions are set up like they are emails from God to you, so it is super teen friendly!

518RDEe6w-L._SY300_

Matthew 6:6 says “But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.”

The reward God will give you for spending time with Him is not material things, but you will see a positive change in your relationships with your friends and family.

This week, try spending at least 10 minutes alone with God. See how it will change your life!

XOXO, Chels

You can buy "Email from God" here:http://tiny.cc/Email_From_God.  Trust me, you won"t regret it.

Diy Watermelon Sorbet

Diy Watermelon Sorbet
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/watermelon-sorbet.jpg

It’s summer vacation! Just saying it makes me so happy J. I don’t know about you, but where I live it gets reaaally hot and humid during the summer. I saw this recipe the other day and decided to try it, and I was instantly in love! Today I am going to teach you how to make a super cool, refreshing, and healthy treat for those days when you can’t seem to cool down!

exps32576_CW952730D46

What is this treat I am describing? Watermelon sorbet of course! This is how you make it:

 You will need:

                        3 cups of watermelon
¼ cup lemon or lime juice

                        ½ cup water

                        ¼ cup sugar

                        A blender

What you do:

A couple hours (I recommend 3 or 4) before you plan to make the sorbet, cut up your watermelon into chunks. Put them in a large Ziploc bag and then put the bag in your freezer. Try and lay the bag flat and spread the watermelon evenly so they freeze faster. Next, after your watermelon has been freezing for 3 or 4 hours, boil the water, sugar, and lemon or lime juice until the sugar has dissolved. Then let this mixture cool to room temperature. Next, put your frozen watermelon and water mixture into your blender and blend it up! Make sure you blend it until it is a smooth consistency and there are no chunks. After that, pour your mixture into the bowl or container you will be serving or storing it in. Put this container in the freezer for another 2 hours, just to make sure your mixture is nice and firm before you serve it. Viola! Delicious, healthy relief from the summer heat. You can eat this sweet treat without feeling guilty because it has barely any sugar and it is all fruit!

watermelon-sorbet-sl-1634658-l

Just a quick tip for serving: if you are having a hard time scooping the sorbet, run your         spoon under warm water before scooping it out.

Comment and tell me how yours turns out!

XOXO, Chels

Easy On The Feet

Easy On The Feet
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/sperry-2.jpg

Hi Insiders,

Summer shoes are probably the cutest around.  Sandals, wedges, and flip flops come in every color and print imaginable.  Unfortunately, these super cute shoes can also be super uncomfortable.  When walking on your feet for hours at a time, maybe on vacation or shopping, these shoe choices probably aren’t the best.  Surprisingly, footwear can be both comfortable and trendy.  I’m going to introduce you to cute, yet comfortable, summer shoe wear.Chelsea Crockett- comforable summer shoes

Many flip flops and sandals only have a small layer of foam or leather on the bottom.  This gives your foot no arch support and hardly enough cushion to keep you on your feet all day long.  The perfect substitution to this problem is Sperry’s.  This adorable boat shoe comes in many different colors and styles and can be worn year round.  Some have mesh in and around the sides to keep your feet cool during the summer.  They also have a cushioned arch support to keep you moving all day long.  Sperry also carries a variety of flip flops that, although pricey, are completely worth it.  Another great brand of comfortable summer shoes is TOMS.  This shoe company donates a pair of shoes to a child in need with every purchase.  Not only will your feet be feeling good, with its built in arch support and cool design, but you will also feel good about yourself!  Check out the links below to purchase a pair of these awesome summer shoes.  Enjoy!

Love,

            Chelsea

Secrets for Healthy Hair

Secrets for Healthy Hair
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/IMG_6098-M.jpg

Hey insiders!  Every girl wants to know how to get their hair soft, shiny, and most importantly, healthy.  With endless treatments of various shampoos and gels, it gets frustrating trying to find successful ways to treat your hair.  What girls don’t look for are the things you can do at home without expensive products.  Here are a few secrets to getting those healthy locks.Chelsea Crockett - Hair

First, condition your ends each time your hair is damp or wet even if you don’t shampoo it each time you’re in the shower.  This helps with tangles and also keeps your hair moisturized.  I hate when my hair feels dried out, so this tip definitely solves the problem.

Second, let your hair flow every once and a while.  Pulling back your hair on a daily basis creates damage and causes your strands to break.  If you’re the kind of person who relies on up-dos, try pinning your hair up with clips or pins.  Avoiding elastic bands will decrease the breakage in your hair.

Lastly, monitor the amount of heat applied on your hair.  Too much of anything can be bad so avoid straightening or curling your hair every day.  Try putting it into a simple braid or, if you can, leave it natural.

Along with these, there are many more secrets to discover in order to receive healthy, beautiful hair.  I hoped this helped and good luck!

                                                                                       -Chelsea

Be A Style Standout!

Be A Style Standout!
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/Chelsea-Crockett-Kate-Spade-style.jpg

Have you ever looked at someone and been inspired by their style?  Well what if you became the one inspiring others?!  Being a style standout is an extremely honorable role!  This means you’re daring with your style and wear things others wouldn’t.  It also takes a lot of creativity!  If you want to be a style standout, follow a few of my style tips in order to be at the top of the fashion world!Chelsea Crockett- studded flats

Don’t be afraid to wear color and prints!  Black, brown, and grey can get boring so styling yourself with brighter clothes!  Try adding fun accessories like a striped purse or pink earrings.  A little color never hurt!  Another great way to add to your signature style is through your shoe choice.  Throw on a fun pair of sneakers or stylish wedges to a simple outfit if you don’t have time to get ready.  Never be afraid to be bold.  Always experiment with your style and go out of the box.  It’s important not to care too much about what others think of you!

Invest your money in your most valuable pieces!  Purses and shoes are always a great investment…you can never grow out of them.  Save up for that purse you’ve been dying to have.  Most designer purses are timeless, so it’s okay to splurge!  Plus, everyone will be dying to get their hands on it!  Another way to be a style standout is to layer!  Instead of just wearing a sweater, throw on a scarf or wear a button up under it.  An over-sized coat is always a great addition as well!  Be bold, be exciting, and be out there with your style!

My iPhone is one of my favorite things I own.  It allows me to take goofy pictures and keep in touch with my friends, lets me communicate with my fans through the Internet, and of course, enables my mom to get a hold of me at any time during the day.Frown  I don’t know what I’d do without it!  Many of you have been curious as to what apps I use and what’s on my phone.  Here’s a breakdown of my favorite iPhone apps!Chelsea Crockett- apps

I’m sure, like me, you all are addicted to social media.  How could I communicate with all of my amazing Insiders if it wasn’t for the Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Vine and the BeautyLicious app?  These are 5 of my favorite apps and I love to be very active on them.  I also have the ProTuber app, which is just a more advanced version of YouTube.  As you all know, I’m on YouTube A LOT.

If you’ve ever checked out my Instagram account, you’ll soon figure out how much I love taking pictures.  My phone is filled in editing apps!  One of my favorites is called PicPlayPost where you can add a video in with a collage of pictures to upload on your Instagram.  If you’ve got bad skin, try the app PhotoWonder to smooth out your skin for a flawless look!  Last, what iPhone would be complete without a game or two?!  My favorite game at the moment is Minion Rush!  You better check it out!

Now you know what I’ve got going on in my iPhone.  Let me know if you like the apps I use and check me out on the Internet, links below!

Fashion Police!

Fashion Police!
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/Blendgggggggg.jpg

The fashion police is here! Here to make sure that you never make any of these 3 common fashion no no’s!

1. Buy things that fit: You know that adorable shirt on clearance? The one two sizes too small, but makes you wonder if you can squeeze into it? Girl, leave it on the rack. There is nothing worse than wearing a shirt that is two sizes too small and feeling super uncomfortable because you have to hold your breath all day to keep from popping the buttons off. Sure, the shirt may be the cutest thing you have ever seen, but there is another one out there that is just as cute, and that accents your body way better, I guarantee it!

2. Hide those bra straps: We all know a girl who likes to show off her pink leopard print bra straps, and doesn’t seem to mind when they constantly pop out from under her shirts. Don’t be that girl! Cover those babies up. You look much classier and more respectable when you do. Plus, covering your straps up keeps you modest, and modest is hottest! chelsea crockett fashion police

3. Wearing pj’s in public: Ladies, please please PLEASE do not wear pajama pants in public. This is NOT a good look. The whole “just rolled out of bed” look is not something to go for. I know it may be cozy and comfortable, but save them when you are at home. This is not the way to achieve the “hobo chic” look, trust me!chelsea crockett pajama pants in public

I hope this visit from the fashion police has whipped you into shape!

XOXO, Chels

Fake A Long Pony!

Fake A Long Pony!
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/a4670dd63d87a6dfd550c1dc206355831.jpg

Do you have shoulder length hair and long to have a long, luscious pony tail like the ones you see in the movies? I have a secret trick on how to trick people into thinking that you have a longer, fuller pony tail. Check it out!

First, loosely curl your hair to give it some body. Next, tease the crown of your hair and smooth it out. Pull the top half of your hair up into a high pony tail. Next, pull the bottom half of your hair into another ponytail in the middle of your hair. Spread the top ponytail out so that it covers up the bottom ponytail. Because you have a low pony on the bottom, it makes you look like you have looooong hair! Cool illusion, a4670dd63d87a6dfd550c1dc20635583right? Tie a sleek bow onto the top pony to add a girly touch to it! I have worn this chic style to everything from weddings to church!

Try this hair style and comment below to tell me how it works out!

Beauty Myths Busted!

Beauty Myths Busted!
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/Chelsea-Crockett-Hair1.jpg

I’m sure many of you have heard some ridiculous beauty statements that either seem too good to be true or completely false!  It can be hard to decide whether or not these beauty myths are true.  Let’s break them down and get to the facts!Chelsea Crockett- washing hair

  1. “Washing your hair every day is bad for it.”  MOSTLY FALSE.  If you have oily hair, it is understandable to wash your hair every day.  It won’t do any harm to it.  If your hair is coarse or dry, you may want to wash your hair every other day.  Shampoo can dry out hair, so you don’t want to make your hair dryer than it already is.
  2. “Hair grows back thicker after you shave it.”  FALSE.  Whenever we shave our leg hair, it cuts through the middle of the hair creating a straight line.  This creates the illusion of thicker leg hair even though it’s the same size and same color.  Nothing is different!
  3. “Putting makeup on zits makes them worse.”  TRUE.  If you’re trying to cover up a pesky zit with an oil based or heavy cream concealer, you’re probably going to make it worse!  When you pack on the makeup your pores cannot breathe, therefore collecting more dirt.  Try covering it up with a light powder or go all natural!
  4. “Split ends can be repaired.”  Unfortunately, FALSE.  There are many hair care products out today claiming they can repair split ends.  Well, I’m sad to report that these beauty brands are telling you tales.  The only true way to banish split ends is to cut them off!
  5. “Chocolate, pizza, and French fries will give me zits!”  FALSE.  Indulging in greasy food every once in a while will do no harm.  It’s your regular diet that will determine whether or not you have nice skin.  If your entire diet consists of chocolate, pizza, and French fries, then it’s very possible that you will have acne.  Enjoy these types of food minimally.

BOOM, busted!!  Now you know the truth about these tricky beauty myths!

Love,

            Chelsea

Thrift Store Game!

Thrift Store Game!
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/chelsea-crockett-the-thrift-store-game.jpg

I love thrift shopping. You can find such cute stuff, and it’s so cheap! If you are in need of a girls night and want a super fun game to play together, I recommend the thrift store game! Here is how you play it:

 1. Split into teams of two.

2. The first team to find and photograph themselves with 10 out of the 20 items on the list wins! You can use your phone to take the pictures which makes it super quick and easy!chelsea crockett thrift store game

3. If the item you find is an article of clothing, then you have to wear it for the picture! NO EXCEPTIONS! ;)

4. You should probably spend at least a couple bucks in the store just to show some courtesy because you practically just used their store as a battleground!

Does this not sound like a total blast?! You all will be laughing so hard the whole time, and you will have an arsenal of awkward pictures of your friends because of all of the goofy clothes you will be trying on! It is a total win win situation! Only got 20$ in your pocket? Then go pop some tags at a thrift shop with your best buds!

 Happy thrifting!

Beautylicious Study Tips!

Beautylicious Study Tips!
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/grade-a.jpg

Studying is one of my least favorite things. Don’t you wish you could just go to sleep and wake up a genius? I have picked up a few really great study tactics over the years and just thought I would share them! Sometimes switching up your studying routine can really benefit you!

Have you ever heard that certain smells can trigger your memory? They say that your sense of smell is the strongest sense in your body. That is _6638836why researchers say that if you put on scented lotion before you study and continue smelling it as you study, and then put on that same lotion before you take your test, the smell can help you remember everything you studied! I tried this out and was surprised to see that it actually helped!

Do any of you stay up late the night before a test, and then study even more in the morning right before the exam? Researchers say that that is the worst thing you can do for your memory! Avoid studying 12 hours before the test. Why? Give your brain a break! If you are trying to cram all of that information into your head right before the test, you are less likely to remember it because your brain is tired! I kid you not! You should study a little bit each day before the test, and then give your brain a break the night and morning before your test.

I believe in you, my intellectual Insiders!

XOXO, Chels

The 3 Big No Nos of Applying Foundation

The 3 Big No Nos of Applying Foundation
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/Blend3.jpg

If you’re like me, foundation is part of your everyday makeup routine. There are 3 no no’s you need to keep in mind when applying foundation! Read on to find out what they are.

1. Find the right match: Forget matching your foundation to the tops of your hands or bottoms of your wrists. The best way to find the right color is by applying a small amount to your neck or jaw line. By applying the foundation to your jaw line, it should disappear perfectly on your neck. Our faces and necks are slightly lighter than the rest of our body so make sure to match the foundation correctly. And that, my dears, is how you know if you found the right match for your skin tone!

chelsea crockett foundationl

2. Use either foundation or concealer: It’s your choice! The fact is that if you are applying both, your face will look cakey and it causes breakouts! Wearing too much coverage causes clogged pores, which is no good! You want to have natural looking makeup without covering your face in makeup. What some people do instead is replace concealer with translucent blemish powder. It is much lighter and won’t clog your pores!

3. Say hasta la vista to powder foundation:  Powder foundation will not give you a flawless natural look. The bad thing about powder foundation is that it only stays on for a few hours, and then fades off.  Another downfall is that it fades into the creases of your face, which brings out the look of wrinkles! The easy solution? Swap your powder foundation to liquid. Liquid helps achieve that smooth clear look and stays on almost all day!

Hope these tips help!

XOXO,

Chels

DIY Watermark Tee

DIY Watermark Tee
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/Chelsea-Crockett-watermark-Tee.jpg

I recently saw this tutorial on Pinterest and thought that this so cute and creative! What is really unique about this DIY is that it is totally customizable! What do I mean? You can put whatever quote, verse, or lyric you want on it! On my shirt, I used the quote “When you feel like you’re drowning in life, don’t worry, our lifeguard walks on water.”

 What you will need:

-          Elmer’s Blue Gel glue (It HAS to be the blue kind, or it will not work!)

Chelsea Crockett watermark tee

-          Fabric dye

-          White cotton tee

1. Wet your tee with cool water and place a board between the layers of the shirt, like the lid of a tub.

2. Start drawing! Take the glue and write your favorite verse or quote across the front of the shirt. Pinterest is a great place to find quotes, too! Let the glue dry completely. This may take a few hours!

4. Prepare your tub of dye. Use cool water to make it, and remember that the color that comes out of the tub of dye will be a couple shades darker than your finished shirt! When you get the color you want, lay your tee out flat to dry.

5. When your tee is completely dry, soak it in cool, soapy about 15 minutes. This washes out the extra glue. Toss it in the washer and dry as you would normally!

I have found that these tees make great gifts to friends! Do you have a song that you and a friend call “your song”? Then slap the lyrics on one of these tee’s and give it to them for Christmas! They will love it, and it will mean so much to them that you made it!

XOXO, Chels

Color Blocking: How to Master the Trend

Color Blocking: How to Master the Trend
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/Blend11.jpg

What is color blocking? This trend takes bold colors and pairs them together in outfits to make the ensemble abstract and artistic. Looking to make a statement with your style? Well color blocking is definitely a good place to start!

One example of color blocking is picking one color and styling your outfit with varying shades of that color. These are called monochromatic colors! If you choose lavender, you could wear deep purple jeans with a light lavender sweater and nude flats with a clutch that had purple accents. This variation of color blocking sort of has the ombre effect because of the different shades of color you are using!

The next aspect of color blocking is using the color wheel to choose colors that accent each other. Choose colors that are complimentary to each other, such as yellow and purple, red and green, and orange and blue. That"s the first step to color blocking, choosing your color scheme!

Color blocking can be confusing, but don"t let it fluster you! Learning how to color block successfully takes practice. You have to choose just the right shades and color combinations, or the outfit can turn into a jumble of mismatched nonsense! That is why peeking at a color wheel can be helpful. Here are some examples of color blocking:

Hopefully these examples show you just how trendy color blocking can be and give you examples on how to work it into your wardrobe!

Eat Your Way Towards Healthy Skin

Eat Your Way Towards Healthy Skin
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/Chelsea-Crockett-clear-skin.jpg

Eating a healthy, well-balanced diet is part of healthy lifestyle that everyone strives to have.  Not only does it help your immune system, manage your weight, and increase your years of living, but it can actually treat acne as well.  Who would’ve known?!  Below are some foods to start incorporating in your diet if you struggle with acne like I do.  So eat up and enjoy clearer skin. :) Chelsea Crockett- blueberries

  • Cucumbers:  This veggie is high in water content, which helps flush away toxins from your pores.  It also has a “cooling” effect, which can calm down inflammation caused by acne.
  • Oysters: If you’re a sea food lover, then start loading up on oysters.  They are full of zinc, which is crucial in killing acne.  It also absorbs vitamin A, which it vital for the health of our skin.
  • Yogurt and blueberries: This wonder food packs on the probiotics, which can actually prevent bad bacteria from forming.
  • Dark chocolate: Indulging in dark chocolate can actually cure your skin!  It’s full of antioxidants that can help shield your skin from harmful radiation.
  • Water: This is probably the most powerful acne fighter.  It keeps your body and skin hydrated, flushing out bad toxins that could get stuck in your pores.

Who would’ve thought that incorporating a few of these tasty foods in your diet each day could actually get rid of acne?!  I know I’d rather eat food than take medicine!  I hope this helped you on your journey to clearer skin!!

Good luck!

Costume Jewelry: The Coolest New Accessory

Costume Jewelry: The Coolest New Accessory
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/Chelsea-Crockett-costume-jewelry.jpg

Thought costume jewelry was only for Halloween or very glamorous occasions?  You thought wrong!  From bracelets, necklaces, earrings, and more, these jewelry pieces have become every day staples.  Thanks to fashion runways and stores like J. Crew, it is totally acceptable to pair a costume necklace with a solid sweater and run out of the house!Chelsea Crockett- costume jewelry

So what exactly is costume jewelry?  It’s typically jewelry made from inexpensive jewels that are usually bright colored and large in size!  If you plan on wearing costume jewelry, keep your prints and patterns to a minimum.  They are meant to enhance the outfit!  Try wearing a large costume necklace with a solid colored sweater, skinny jeans, and colorful flats.  Large jeweled earrings are great when you have your hair up.  They make even the worst hair day look better.  For inspiration on how to wear costume jewelry, check out Kate Spade and J. Crew outfits.

Don’t be afraid to add bold jewelry to your next outfit.  You’ll be fashion forward in costume jewelry.

Love,

Jesus Calling: A More Personal Connection with God

Jesus Calling: A More Personal Connection with God
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/Chelsea-Crockett-Jesus-Calling.png

Recently, I’ve been hearing a lot of positive things from a book called Jesus Calling by Sarah Young.  This devotional is filled with an uplifting devotion for each day of the year.

Chelsea Crockett - DevotionalThe best thing about each devotion is that they’re written in the perspective of him talking to you.  It seems as if he’s directly speaking to you which makes the book on a more personal level.  If you want to build your relationship with God, this is the book to do it!

Each page has a date following with a devotion and several Bible verses.  It seems that whenever you read it, it applies to whatever situation you may be going through.  Each page has new words of hope, confidence, and encouragement, which are a few things every teen needs to hear throughout their stressful, busy days.  The verses at the end of each devotion are perfect to read in the mornings to start off your day on the right foot.  If you want a more personal connection with God, Jesus Calling is the right way to go.

                                                            Love,

DIY Dry Shampoo!

DIY Dry Shampoo!
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/Chelsea-Crockett-DIY-dry-shampoo.jpg

You all know I love dry shampoo. I am pretty sure that it is one of the best inventions to hit the beauty market. It helps dry up the oils in your hair so that it doesn’t look greasy, and it can help your hair hold a tease! Dry shampoo can sometimes be expensive and can cause product buildup on your hair. I found a DIY recipe for dry shampoo and got so excited. You can make this stuff for less than 2$ a bottle! You cannot beat that!

Recipe for dark hair:

  • 1/4 cup Cornstarchtumblr_mljrehPMNC1qdwkufo1_1280
  • 1/4 cup Cocoa
  • 5-10 drops Essential Oil (e.g. Pink Grapefruit, Lavender, etc.)

Mix all of these ingredients together in a small bowl. My suggestion is that you put the ingredients into an old spice bottle because the spice bottles have holes in the lids so you can sprinkle the dry shampoo on your roots easier.

     Recipe for light hair:

  • 1/4 cup Cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup Baking Soda
  • 5-10 drops Essential Oil (e.g. Pink Grapefruit, Lavender, etc.)

Do the same exact steps as in the first recipe. You can use a makeup brush to apply the powder to your scalp as another application option.

Want to save some money? Try out these awesome DIY’s!

XOXO, Chels

Beauty Secrets Every Girl Should Know

Beauty Secrets Every Girl Should Know
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/Chelsea-Crockett-Beauty-Secrets-2.jpg

Girls, we all agree our lives get tough sometimes.  Between bad hair days and smeared mascara, we have seen it all!  Here are a few “under the radar” beauty tips that most girls don’t know about!

If you are one of those people that prefer morning showers than night, I’m going to guess you have had that 20 second blow dry that doesn’t quite do the trick.  I suggest setting apart three minutes of your morning and dry the necessary parts of your hair: the front and top.  If you can settle down the fizziness around your scalp and the outline of your face, you will look 100x more finished then those “20 second blow dry” days!

Chelsea Crockett - Plump LipsPlump lips are the dream of any girl, and I know just the secret to getting them.  Before adding your favorite lip gloss, add a little dab of white eye shadow in the crease above your upper lip.  Sounds a little weird, I know, but this tip actually works!  Try it out for yourself!

Dry skin is another struggle we all go through.  There is nothing better than a warm shower, I totally understand, but don’t be afraid to take a cool shower every once and a while!  When we take hot showers, we instantly get out into the cold air of our bathroom which leads to dry skin.  Don’t forget to apply your favorite lotion afterwards :)!

Hope these tips help you lovely ladies out! – Chels

Banana Facial!

Banana Facial!
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/chelsea-crockett-banana-facial-.jpg

Banana facial? What?! That is right, you can use your favorite yellow fruit to prevent aging and heal acne scars. Who knew! Here is how to make your very own banana facial:

Ingredients:

-        1/2 of a ripened organic bananaChiquita-DM2-minion-banana-1

-        1 teaspoon organic honey

Directions:

  • In a bowl, mash your banana and honey together.
  • Then use your fingers apply it to your face, but avoid your eyes!
  • Let the mixture sit for 20 minutes and then rinse your face.

This facial is B-A-N-A-N-A-S! The great thing about it is that you know all of the ingredients going into it so there are no hidden harsh chemicals, dyes, or anything else yucky that hurts you more than it helps you! The more you can use natural ingredients, the better. Your body will thank you! This option is also cheaper than going out and buying a face mask from the store, so it’s a win-win! Try this sweet facial out, and try to keep from licking it off your face! ;)

XOXO, Chels

Odds are, some of you beautiful Insiders play sports. Sometimes, sports can bring out the best in you! Then again, sometimes they can bring out the worst. When you are really into the game, you may become really aggressive and not really think about what you are doing or saying. Today I am going to fill you in on the importance of being a good sport and how influential being a good sport can be.

When I say being a good sport, I mean that you are respectful of other players. When you are a good sport you are not only showing them that you are a mature person, but you are also witnessing for Jesus! You are showing them love, just like Jesus showed YOU love. When the ref makes a call that you do not agree with or you are accused of something that you do not believe you did, do not blow up and get angry. I know it is hard! Just chelsea crockett good sportsmanshiptry and keep your cool. If you are calm and approach the ref and tell him that you think the call was incorrect, they will be a lot more willing to listen to you if you are calm and respectful. They might even side with you and realize that it was the wrong call! Also, if you are being scouted for scholarships, you always want to be mindful of who is watching you and act accordingly. If a scout sees you act like a crazy lady and freak out at the refs or other players, they will not be impressed with you or your character. You also want to always be respectful to your coach and the parents of your teammates. I am sure you are all lovely young lassies and are prefect angels, but I just wanted to make these points to refresh them in your noggins!

Keep your cool darlings!

XOXO, Chels

Importance Of Hydration!

Importance Of Hydration!
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/Chelsea-Crockett-Hydration.jpg

I am sure that you all know that staying hydrated is important, but do you know just HOW important it is? Today I am going to give you the 4-1-1 on why hydration is so essential!

 1. Water helps with weight maintenance!

Drinking water on a regular basis can help you maintain a healthier weight or even lose weight. Drinking water instead of soda can quench your thirst without adding extra calories to your diet and can suppress or distract your appetite if you drink water when you have a craving. Water is also important for weight loss because your body needs to flush out the byproducts of the fat that it is breaking down.

 2. Maintains muscle strength!water

By drinking water every 15 minutes or so during sporting events, you can help keep your muscles strong and active. Water helps your body transport oxygen to your muscles, which makes them more efficient during physical work.

 3. Improves your body temperature regulation!

Your body will only function properly when it is within a certain temperature range. If your body temperature is a few degrees too high, it can cause brain damage or harm your vital organs. When you sweat, your body helps itself cool down by evaporating the sweat on your skin. However, you are still at risk for overheating if you are not drinking enough water to replenish your fluids. The solution? Bring a water bottle with you wherever you go and drink regularly!

Want to see some ways that you can spruce up your water so that you want to drink more of it? Check out my blog “Spruce Up Your Water”!

XOXO, Chels

Spice Up Your Hair Color!

Spice Up Your Hair Color!
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/Chelsea-Crockett-colored-hair.jpg

Do you ever get sick of your hair color?  I know I do!  Of course I’ll never do anything dramatic like dye my hair blonde, but adding a hint of color is a great way to spice up your look.  Some colors are more daring than others, but in the end a slight change in color is all you need!

If you’re sick of your blonde hair, there are two really great options to change up your blonde hair color.  If you want to go lighter, try icy blonde highlights.  The highlights will add to your natural color without making your hair look too blonde, or worse…white!  If you’re looking to go darker without going brunette, adding honey highlights will do the trick!  You could even try going strawberry blonde for a more daring look.

Brunettes have a lot of options when it comes to changing up their hair color.  Adding dark or light brown highlights is an easy transition to a different shade of brown.  If you’re looking for a more daring color, try adding dark red or plum undertones to your hair.  The change won’t be too dramatic, but the colors will really stand out in the light! Chelsea Crockett- red hair When it comes to black hair, there isn’t much that can be changed; but if you want to try something really different try adding blue undertones to your hair.  This will make your black hair appear softer, but have an edge to it.

I do not recommend dying your hair on your own.  Go to a trusted salon for any of your hair color desires and talk to your parents first!

XOXO,

            Chelsea

Squeaky Clean Nails!

Squeaky Clean Nails!
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/Chelsea-Crockett-Clean-nails.jpg

Do you ever take you nail polish off and your nails are totally stained that color? It happens to me when I wear red polish, that pesky stuff just doesn’t want to come off! There is a simple way to make your nails look squeaky clean, and it will also make them turn white! Stay tuned:

 Ingredients:

b8e13ae5bc2bc0c7edf5106d336fb7ce

-Baking sod

-Hydrogen peroxide

Mix a small amount of baking soda and hydrogen peroxide together into a paste. Get an old toothbrush and scrub the paste into your toenails/fingernails.  After you have scrubbed the paste into your nails, let them soak in it. Soak them for 5-10 minutes. After you have soaked them, make sure to rinse all of the mixture off with some warm water! This remedy comes in handy for those of us who constantly paint our nails and whose nails are always stained from all of the color we put on them. It is helpful in the winter months when we paint our nails red for Christmas because red is the color that stains the most! Keep this tip in mind for summer also so you can have clean white toenails when you wear sandals!

XOXO, Chels

Natural Ways to Boost Your Mood

Natural Ways to Boost Your Mood
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/Chelsea-Crockett-Boost-Your-Mood.jpg

            Hey everyone!

School and work are two of the main causes of stress nowadays.  Homework, grades, work, friends, and relationships are just a few of the endless reasons teens and adults are exhausted and highly stressed out.  In addition to long, tiring days, stressing can lead to negative behavior.  To help change your mood from negative to positive, here are a few ways to help you boost your mood!Chelsea Crockett - Boost Your Mood

  • Soak up the sun!  Research shows that the sun actually does boosts your mood!  In fact, the sun can even help with depression.  Getting at least 30 minutes of sunlight a day will guarantee a change in your attitude.
  • Catch some ZZZ’s!  No one likes to go through a day of school or work exhausted.  Lack of sleep often leads to irritations and carelessness.  I know how hard it is to attempt to do your homework if you continue to doze off!  So, next Saturday, don’t be afraid to sleep in!
  • Eat some chocolate!  Sounds crazy, right?  Scientists say that chocolate can release mood-boosting chemicals in the brain that make us happier.  Even the taste and smell of chocolate can help give your mood a lift.
  • Keep busy!  I don’t mean to be booked every hour of the day, but finding something you love to do can keep your mind off things that bring you down.  Take music for example.  If you love music, try learning the piano or guitar.  Discovering something you find passionate will open your eyes to new things and boost your mood!

How do you keep happy?  Let me know below!

                                                Love, Chels

Highlight Your Best Features!

Highlight Your Best Features!
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/Chelsea-Crockett-highlighting.jpg

Hello Ladies,

Highlighting has become one of the biggest beauty crazes this year; and I have to admit, I love it!  Learning where to highlight your face can make the world of a difference.  It makes your face brighter and more awake.  It’s especially great when you feel worn and tired.  Check out the perfect spots to highlight and what you should use for the perfect glow.

One of my favorite products to use when I highlight my face is Benefit’s “Watt’s Up” soft focus highlighter.  It doesn’t cover your face in glitter, just gives it a hint of shimmer.  It’s a stick that you can rub on certain parts of your face and rub in with the sponge attached to the other end.  Although it can be quite expensive, it’s worth it!  If you don’t feel like spending a lot of money, then a light gold or white shimmery cream eye shadow works just as well. Chelsea Crockett- Benefit Watt

Start by highlighting your eyes.  To wake up tired eyes, dab a small amount in the inner corner of your eyes and on your brow bone.  Use your fingers or a face sponge to rub it in smooth.  Next apply a small amount to your outer cheek bones to highlight your features.  This spot really illuminates your face!  Last, place a small amount on the indent above your upper lip.  This creates the illusion of a fuller pouty lip.  Have your best makeup look ever with highlighting!  Who wouldn’t want their face to glow?!

XOXO,

            Chels
