Post-Workout Skin Care Routine

Post-Workout Skin Care Routine
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/chelsea-crockett-post-workout-skin-care-routine.jpg

I love going to the gym. It helps me calm my mind and makes me feel refreshed and strong. The only downfall of visiting the gym is that I seem to break out after I go. I looked up why this was the case, and it was because I wasn’t treating my skin the way I should! After we workout, our pores are wide open which means that they are open to bacteria and makeup residue. Your skin is super vulnerable after a visit to the gym. Here are a few ways that I found to keep your skin healthy after hitting the gym or the trail.

  1. Make sure your makeup is gone before you work out. Use a makeup wipe to quickly and easily clear your skin. Do this so that your sweat can filter out of your pores freely instead of getting trapped by your makeup.

  2. Use skin products that don’t irritate. Using a harsh cleanser after you workout is not doing your skin any favors! Spray a facial toner on your skin post-workout to soothe and calm your skin.

  3. If you can’t get to a shower, use healthy ingredients to wash your face. Makeup wipes with natural cleansers like lavender are a great and handy way to quickly and easily get your skin clean of sweat and build-up after a workout.

  4. Keep your skin care kit on hand. If you workout before work or school, or you typically have to go somewhere other than home after a workout, keep your skincare essentials in a small travel bag. This is a great way to make sure that you get your skin cleansed before going anywhere, plus it will make you feel refreshed when you are on the go.

Keeping your skin clean is the key to kicking breakouts to the curb!

XOXO, Chels

4 Tips for Masking Greasy Hair

4 Tips for Masking Greasy Hair
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/FullSizeRender-4-2.jpg

Greasy hair is a struggle for us all.  They say you’re not supposed to wash your hair every day, but when you don’t, your hair becomes a greasy mess!  Especially if you have thick hair like me, you know the struggle.  If you have this problem too, here are 5 tips that will help you out!

  • Dry Shampoo. If you’ve never used dry shampoo, then get ready to be amazed! It does wonders for your hair.  Spray a little bit of this on your hair at any time of the day and it’ll give it the lift it needs.

  • Baby Powder. If you don’t have any dry shampoo lying around, baby powder almost works just as well!  I found this trick hard to believe, but it really does work!  Sprinkle a small amount of powder around your scalp to disappear any grease your hair has.  It’s a cheap and quick method to substitute for dry shampoo!

  • Hats and Headbands. As you can already guess, hats and headbands are the perfect cover-up for greasy hair.  They’re the key solution to any messy hair day, trust me!

  • Braid it. Braiding the top of your hair makes for a cute hairstyle while still doing a good job of covering up dirty hair!  You can still look good on your way to class without worrying about it!

Have any other tips you can give me?  Share your tricks with me in the comments below!

Fall Olive Green Style

Fall Olive Green Style
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/chelsea-crockett-olive-green-style.jpg

Olive green is one of those colors that looks good on everyone. It is also one of fall’s favorite hues! Olive green pairs well with many colors, and is a more exciting neutral than tan or brown. Here are my favorite ways to mix and match olive green into my autumn outfits.

  1. Layered with a vest: This is the most subtle way to wear olive green. You can layer an olive vest over a patterned button-up for a classic fall look. You can take it off if you get too warm, which is what happens most of the time where I live. Fall mornings are chilly, but the afternoons get warm. A vest gives your outfit a casual yet preppy feel.

  2. Cozy in a cardigan: I love a long cardigan. My favorite are the ones that are long enough to hit at your knees. They are slimming and make me look taller! Pair a long olive cardigan with a light-colored sweater and brown boots for a neutral, understated yet stylish look.

  3. Time for a turtle neck: In the last few years turtle necks have really made a comeback. Not only do they keep you cozy and warm, they are also stylish! Pair an olive green turtle neck sweater with a black leather jacket and ripped black skinny jeans for an edgy, fun fall look.

Happy fall, y’all!

Tips For De-Cluttering Your Life

Tips For De-Cluttering Your Life
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/chelsea-crockett-tips-for-decluttering-you-life.jpg

Do you ever just feel overwhelmed with life? I feel most overwhelmed when my room is a mess, my closet is a mess, my bathroom is a mess, and everything else is a mess! The best way to keep that overwhelmed feeling at bay is to simplify your life and de-clutter. I am moving to a different state soon, which means I am diving head first into packing up and de-cluttering my life. Here are a few easy ways to declutter your space so you can feel like you’ve got your life together. These are things you can get rid of and not even miss.

Magazines: Let’s face it. We all have a pile of magazines in our room that we insist we will eventually read or make crafts out of. Recycle those puppies! If you haven’t read them yet, you probably won’t be getting to it any time soon. You will always get new magazines in the mail, or if you need them for crafts you can get them at Goodwill!

Makeup: I have a whole tub of half-used or forgotten-about makeup. What good is it if I don’t use it? Some of it is dried up or broken. Why in the world do I keep it? I have no idea. Toss it!

Hangers: I always seem to have a ton of abandoned hangers jutting out from my closet. They always get in the way when I am trying to put laundry away or pick out clothes to wear. Grab all of those lonely hangers and put them in a storage bin or just get rid of them!

Crafts: Those half-finished DIYs sitting around? Those need to go.

You will not believe how good it feels to de-clutter your space. Seriously, it feels so freeing! Simplifying life is important.

XOXO, Chels

5 Non-Awkward First Date Ideas

5 Non-Awkward First Date Ideas
https://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/chelsea-crockett-first-dates.jpg

First dates can be the most fun, yet most intimidating, encounters.  Sometimes the conversations flow perfectly and you hit it off right away.  But other times conversations become awkward and you run out of things to talk about!  Since I know from personal experience that those situations can be super awkward, here are five guaranteed non-awkward first date ideas!

  • Go see a movie. Okay, now I know this might be basic but still take it into consideration! It’s not going to be awkward because you’ll be watching a movie the whole time! There won’t be time for awkward pauses or dull conversation.

  • Go to a school sporting event. Whether you’re in high school or college, going to a game together is fun and gives you something to talk about. You can even get a big group of friends to go with you!

  • Go to the zoo. The zoo is always a chill date that’s fun and relaxing! Sometimes during the winter, zoos will do a holiday festival with Christmas lights and music. Keep an eye out for those seasonal events!

  • Go to a food festival. What’s better than dressing up cute and eating good food? Enjoy sampling tasty snacks and seasonal treats with your date!

  • Be a tourist in your own city. Spend the day exploring with your date.  Think of all the cool places in your town that you’ve never tried!  Make a list and go on an all-day adventure!

Try suggesting one of these ideas next time you get asked out on a date! 🙂

Things to Consider Before You Cut Bangs

Things to Consider Before You Cut Bangs
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/9f5859211caee80173b9d5c15468fc522599fac5.jpg

Bangs: either you love them or you hate them. At some point in our lives we will even be tempted to try them! But, beware. They may look good in photos you see on Pinterest, but that doesn’t mean that you will like them on your own face. Before you take the plunge and chop some bangs, here are a few things to keep in mind.

  1. Bangs require lots of maintenance. You have to keep them constantly trimmed, like every two or three weeks, to keep them out of your eyes. Getting them trimmed that often adds up to quite a bit of money in the end!

  2. Working out is a little more complicated. You have to remember to keep clips and headbands with you at all times to keep your bangs out of the way.

  3. Try them out before you take the dive. You can watch tutorials on how to create faux bangs to see if you like them before you make the big chop. This may save you a lot of heartache in the long run if you don’t like what you see.

  4. Prepare for a lot of trial and error. You will have to play with your bangs a lot before you get the hang of them.

  5. Bangs can cause pimples. Having hair sitting on your forehead all day causes the oil from your hair to join with the oil on your forehead. That can cause breakouts! The good news is that your bangs will cover the pimples.

  6. There will be a time when you want to grow them out. That, my friends is a long, and sometimes obnoxious, process. Luckily there are a lot of ways to pull your bangs back, such as braiding them or twisting them. That should get you by until they are long enough to swoop to the side or bobby pin back.

There are a lot of things to consider before cutting bangs, but ultimately if you want to take the plunge then I say go for it! It is fun to change up your hair style every once in a while.

S"Mores Bark

S"Mores Bark
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/chelsea-crockett-smores-bark.jpg

S’mores are fall’s favorite treat. Not only do you get to cozy up to a fire while you make them, but they are so ooey and gooey and delicious. Not all of us have access to a bonfire whenever we feel the urge to enjoy a s’more, so that is where s’mores bark comes in. You can make this inside and enjoy it from the comfort of your kitchen! Plus, it is easily share-able.

Ingredients:

  • 3 ½ cups milk chocolate chips

  • ½ cup white chocolate chips

  • 1 cup marshmallow fluff

  • 3 sheets of graham crackers

Melt 1 ½ cups of chocolate chips and spread it over a pan covered in wax paper. Make sure the chocolate is layered thick. Refrigerate this for about an hour. Meanwhile, melt the white chocolate chips in the microwave. Then add in the marshmallow fluff and microwave it for about 30 seconds. Quickly spread the marshmallow and white chocolate layer over the hardened first chocolate layer. Crumble the graham crackers and press them into the marshmallow/chocolate layer. Refrigerate for 30 minutes, meanwhile melting 2 cups of chocolate chips. Spread this over the graham cracker layer and put it in the fridge for 2 hours. Take it out and break it apart. Store it in the fridge if you want a solid bark, and if you want it squishy leave it out in a covered container.

Yum!

Life Lessons from Proverbs 16:24

Life Lessons from Proverbs 16:24
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/chelsea-crockett-life-lessons-from-proverbs-16-24.jpg

Proverbs 16:24 says “Gracious words are like honey. Sweet to the soul and healthy for the body.”

What does it mean to be gracious? To me, I think that it means being a forgiving person. It means that you treat others how they should be treated, not how you necessarily want to treat them. It means believing the best in people, and being kind. Using gracious words means being gentile and kind with how you speak to people. It means building others up and taking the high road. God’s word tells us that when we use gracious words, they are actually good for us. They are mentally and spiritually healthy. You are more joyful and happy when you show others grace instead of holding on to grudges and hard feelings.

Next time you are in a difficult situation, remember to be gracious in the way you handle it, because it is better for you and for those around you in the end.

How to Stay Healthy in College

How to Stay Healthy in College
https://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/93d0847c458424e7cd723fed3fd62941-sleep-deprived-quotes-sleep-deprived-mom.jpg

Sometimes the combination of classes, homework, meetings, jobs, and maintaining a social life can have college students, like myself, forgetting about maintaining a healthy lifestyle. It is hard to find the time! Developing healthy habits makes it easier for college students to stay healthy both now and in the future. Getting sick just slows us down and makes it harder to keep up with everything! These tips don’t take much time or even much mental energy, so working them into your life isn’t a hassle. Here are the top 4 ways to stay healthy in college.

  1. Drink lots of water. This might be the easiest way to stay healthy. Staying hydrated helps your concentration and keeps you from overeating. It also helps give you more energy! Keep a bottle of water in your backpack at all times.

  2. College students tend to run themselves ragged. I can vouch for that. Stress can cause so many problems with your health, so making time to de-stress (even if it is just watching one episode of a tv show or reading a chapter of a book for fun) gives your mind and body a break from the stress.

  3. Get some sleep. I know “yolo” is a thing, and you want to do everything you possibly can and live life to the fullest, but that isn’t always healthy! Pulling all-nighters to study because you put it off, or hanging out with friends until the wee hours of the morning leads to sleep deprivation. Sleep deprivation leads to headaches, reduced brain function, weight gain, and even sickness. Try and take short naps or get to bed on time as many days as possible.

  4. Wash your hands. Sickness is passed so quickly on college campuses, and washing your hands can be a savior when you can’t afford to miss class because you came down with something. It is such an easy way to prevent tons of illnesses.

Life is better when you show your body some kindness!

Beauty Tips You Can Do in Your Sleep

Beauty Tips You Can Do in Your Sleep
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/chelsea-crockett-Beauty-Tips-You-Can-Do-in-Your-Sleep.jpg

Beauty takes time. As a good friend of mine always says, beauty isn’t for sissies! It feels like there isn’t enough time in the day to get everything done that I need to do, let alone enough time to get all my beauty prep in. In my book, the best kind of beauty treatments are the ones you can do in your sleep. Here are a few examples of treatments that make you the beauty queen you are, and all you have to do is catch some zzzzzzzzzz’s.

  1. Shrink a pimple: If you have a pesky pimple or two, put a small dab of toothpaste onto it and let it sit overnight. It dries the blemish out and helps shrink it.

  2. Moisturize: Hydrate your skin with an overnight mask to heal and nourish dry skin. You can also use a humidifier to help stop the dry air from sucking the moisture from your skin while you sleep!

  3. Heal your hair: Coconut oil works miracles. Seriously. Smooth some on your strands and leave it on overnight. Cover your pillow with a towel so the oil doesn’t soak in. Be ready to wake up with the healthiest hair you’ve ever had!

  4. Wavy hair: Want to wake up with wavy hair? There are tons of no-heat curl methods to try. Do a quick YouTube search and find one that works for you. These methods save your hair a ton of damage, AND they take barely any time at all! Your hair gets styled as you sleep.

Now you know why they call it “beauty sleep”!

Fall Plaid Style

Fall Plaid Style
https://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/chelsea-crockett-fall-plaid-style.jpg

Plaid: Fall’s favorite pattern. You can wear it many ways, with many layers, and in many color combinations! Sometimes, with all those options, it can get a little overwhelming. To simplify styling plaid this Fall, I’ll give you my 3 favorite ways to wear it.

  1. Layered: One plaid shirt can be worn in so many ways. It can be worn under a sweater, cardigan, vest, army jacket, and so on. You can tone down the pattern by layering it under things, or let it be the centerpiece of the outfit by wearing it by itself.

  2. Accessorized: Plaid scarves are timeless and go with just about anything! You can drape a plaid blanket scarf around your shoulders to keep you warm, and can wear a pair of plaid gloves to add accent to any fall ensemble.

  3. Statement: Make a plaid piece the statement item of your outfit. I love a cute plaid skirt with a simple top and riding boots. The pattern doesn’t overwhelm the outfit and gives it the perfect amount of “pop.”

I am ready to rock some plaid this Fall!

Early Morning Workout: Why Yoga?

Early Morning Workout: Why Yoga?
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/sdfghjkcfghjfh.jpg

I’ve always heard both amazing and not-so-amazing things about yoga.  Some people swear by it while others don’t give it the time of day.  I’ve always wondered why some people use it as their main form of exercise so I decided to do a little research!  Here’s why you should check out yoga for yourself! 🙂

  • It increases your muscle strength. Believe it or not, yoga isn’t all about relaxing.  It actually takes a lot of strength and can challenge you more than you expect.  There are lots of different moves that require strength endurance and strong muscles!

  • It straightens your posture. I know for me I could use a little help on my posture!  Yoga helps align and strengthen your spine which, in turn, strengthens your posture.  I never even thought about that but it really does help!

  • It increases your ability to focus. Yoga takes a lot of focus on your breathing and movements.  One of yoga’s biggest purposes is to learn how to focus on the present and relax!  Studies have actually shown an increase in coordination, focus, memory, and other things, as well!

  • It helps the upkeep of your joints. Along with an increase in flexibility, yoga moves your body in ways it isn’t used to moving in.  It helps move your joints in several different motions which helps loosen and stretch them out and makes them even healthier!

Get out of bed and get your stretch on!  You won’t regret it!

Halloween 2017: Mermaid Makeup

Halloween 2017: Mermaid Makeup
https://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/fdadfsadfds.jpg

Halloween is the one night of the year where you get to be whatever you want to be.  There are so many different costumes and makeup looks you can try out to make it the best Halloween yet!  Mermaid costumes are easy to pull off and fun to create a makeup look for.  Here’s an easy makeup tutorial you can try out this Halloween!

First, let’s focus on the eyes.  You’ll need to apply a teal or lighter blue eyeshadow base on your lids to begin.  Next, take a darker blue and apply it to your brow bone to give your eyes some more depth.  Now, pick a bright purple and apply this to your lower lash line and up to the outer corner of your lid.  Make sure you blend!  You can even add some glitter and shimmer to make your eyes pop even more.

Next comes the fun part.  You’ll need a pair of classic fish net tights to create the “mermaid scale” effect on your skin!  Take your pair of leggings and slide them over your head (try not to mess up your eyeshadow!).  Take a brush covered in purple eyeshadow and dab the brush over the tights on your cheek bone.  You can even incorporate some pinks and blues into your scales as well.  After you’re finished, I suggest taking scissors and cutting off the tights to make sure you don’t smear your product!  Then, you’re finished! 🙂

What are you going to be this Halloween?  Let me know in the comment section below (I need ideas… Haha!).

Bad Relationship Advice from Disney Princesses

Bad Relationship Advice from Disney Princesses
https://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/chelsea-crockett-Bad-Relationship-Advice-from-Disney-Princesses.jpg

At some point in our childhood, we all wanted to be a Disney princess. Now that we are grownups, going back and watching those movies is so different. We catch things that went right over our heads as kids, things like how dysfunctional their relationships are! As much as we love the princesses, they’ve made some questionable dude decisions. Here are the top 5 pieces of really bad relationship advice Disney princesses give us.

  1. Pretending you are something you aren’t is a great way to begin a relationship: Cinderella, for example. She pretended to be a princess so the prince would fall in love with her. This is just bad. In our case, it could be pretending you like certain things to impress the guy you are dating. In the end, being someone you aren’t is deceiving, even if your intentions are good. Just be yourself! This can also go the other way, and the guy can be lying about who he really is. Aladdin is totally guilty of this. It causes huge strain on your relationship when you learn that person isn’t who you thought they were.

  2. Spend all of your time waiting for the love of your life to show up: Nope, don’t be Rapunzel. Get out there and show ‘em who’s boss! Don’t wait for them to come to you, put yourself out there.

  3. You can change the person you are dating: Belle. The Beast. Enough said. Trying to “save” the person you are dating and turn them into your ideal man is not the way a healthy relationship goes. Your guy should be striving to be the best person he can be, and you should be doing the same. It is not your responsibility to “save” them. That’s God’s job.

  4. Finding the right guy solves all of life’s problems: Yes, we all want our own happily ever after. But the idea of finding the guy and having the fairytale ending is just that, a fairytale. Life is hard. Life throws you curves. But that is half the fun! Going through life’s battles with your guy by your side makes you stronger, and also helps you appreciate the good times.

I know we all have wished that life could “Bibbity Bobbity Boo” a little relationship luck our way. Disney princesses don’t always have the keys to life, my friends!

Life Lessons from Proverbs 11:27

Life Lessons from Proverbs 11:27
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/life-lessons-from-proverbs-11-27.jpg

“Whoever seeks good finds favor, but evil comes to one who searches for it.” That’s what Proverbs 11:27 tells us. In a nutshell, it means that anyone can find the dirt in someone, but we should strive to be the ones who find the gold.

It can be easy to focus on the negative in people and point out their flaws to make ourselves feel like we are better than them. That’s something anyone can do. Anyone can focus on the negative in someone. It takes a humble mind to think of the good in others most of the time. It is so much healthier for our minds and our hearts to be positive. Our outlook on life depends on it! Also, when we start talking positive about people behind their backs instead of negative, people start to notice. Be an example for others and make them wonder why you are different. Let Jesus shine through you.

Be the one who finds the gold.

Unhealthy Habits to Cut Out Of Your Life

Unhealthy Habits to Cut Out Of Your Life
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/chelsea-crockett-Unhealthy-Habits-to-Cut-Out-Of-Your-Life.jpg

Many of us are constantly striving to improve our overall well-being. That means cutting out certain bad habits that are keeping you down and setting you back from your goals. Here are some things that I am cutting out of my life to stay healthy- both mentally and physically.

  1. Workouts I hate: Not everyone likes certain exercises. A lot of people hate crossfit, and a lot of people love it! Forcing yourself to do workouts/exercises that you dislike discourages you from working out. There are so many ways to exercise out there. Try running. Don’t like running? Try bootcamp classes. Don’t like bootcamp? Keep trying things until you find something you like. You will be much more motivated to stick with it.

  2. Negative self-talk: Stop being mean to yourself and realize that you are enough! You are strong, and you are capable. Start complimenting yourself and celebrating who you are.

  3. Stress: A little stress is healthy, it keeps us accountable and helps us accomplish our goals. But too much stress can compromise our health by causing weight gain, skin problems, physical pain etc. Manage your stress in healthy ways like exercising, having “quiet time”, and taking time to hang out with friends.

  4. Perfectionism: Setting goals is great, but striving for perfectionism is unhealthy. Focus your energy on progress, not perfection!

Pumpkin Spice Puppy Chow

Pumpkin Spice Puppy Chow
https://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/chelsea-crockett-Pumpkin-Spice-Puppy-Chow.jpg

Puppy chow is probably on my list of top 10 favorite foods. Not even kidding. I cannot stop myself when there is a bowl of it in front of me. It just magically disappears. Since fall is upon us and everything is now pumpkin flavored, what sounds better than pumpkin flavored puppy chow? Not much. Not much at all. Here is how to make pumpkin spice puppy chow!

Ingredients:

  • 7-8 cups Cinnamon Chex cereal

  • 12 ounces orange candy melts

  • 3 teaspoons ground cinnamon

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves

  • 1/4 teaspoon allspice

  • 1 cup powdered sugar

  • 1-2 cups candy pumpkins

Pour the Chex cereal into a bowl and put to the side. Melt the candy melts for 20 seconds, stir, melt, and stir until they are melted. Stir 2 teaspoons of cinnamon, the cloves, allspice and nutmeg in to the candy melts until it is combined. Pour this mixture onto the cereal and stir gently to coat all of the squares. Be super gentle! Pour the powdered sugar and 1 tsp of cinnamon into a large Ziploc baggie. Pour in the coated squares and shake until they are all coated in sugar. Pour in the pumpkins and toss some more. Store it in an air tight container, or just eat them all right then and there! No judgments here.

Enjoy!

XOXO, Chels

How to Beat Bad Feelings

How to Beat Bad Feelings
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/FullSizeRdfgh.jpg

Every once in a while, we all have those days where we can’t get out of a slump.  Whether we’re tired, grumpy, overwhelmed, etc., it’s sometimes hard to snap out of the mood we’re in, no matter how hard we try.  Here are a few different ways you can beat the bad feelings that are bringing you down!

  • Feeling tired? Although you most likely just want to stay in bed, get up and get moving!  I suggest chugging some water and fueling your body with a snack that’s healthy and will give your body a boost.  If you absolutely need a nap, only allow yourself to sleep for 20-30 minutes for a quick recharge!

  • Feeling insecure? Instead of thinking negatively, write down a list of characteristics that you love about yourself.  Change your focus from popularity or appearance and think more about your personality and the people you surround yourself with that love you more than you know!

  • Feeling stressed out? Between school, homework, and a social life, this is an easy mindset to slip into.  Take a deep breath and prepare yourself for the work you have to do. It helps me when I break down all I have to do into smaller pieces. This way, your work will present itself more manageable and less overwhelming.

I hope these tips help you snap back into a better mood ASAP! 🙂

Pumpkin S"Mores Bars

Pumpkin S"Mores Bars
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/chelsea-crockett-Pumpkin-SMores-Bars.jpg

Two things come to mind when I think about fall snacks: Pumpkins and s’mores. Why not combine the two for a sweet, festive goodie! I think these are great bonfire snacks, or something cute to make for your bf as a random treat!

Ingredients:

  • 1 can pure pumpkin

  • ½ cup butter, cut into pieces

  • ½ cup milk

  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • 1 cup crushed graham crackers

  • 12 graham cracker squares

  • 2 cups miniature marshmallows (separated)

  • 1 1/3 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Preheat your oven to 450 degrees. Line a baking dish with foil. Next, heat the pumpkin, butter, milk and cinnamon in a small saucepan over low heat until the butter is melted and the mixture is heated. Stir in graham cracker crumbs. Remove from heat.

Lay out the graham cracker squares on the bottom of the baking dish. Spread half of the pumpkin mixture on top of graham crackers. Sprinkle 1 cup of marshmallows and 2/3 cup of chocolate chips over pumpkin mixtures. Spread remaining pumpkin mixture over marshmallows and chocolate chips. Sprinkle the rest of the marshmallows and chocolate chips. Bake for 3 to 5 minutes or until the marshmallows are golden. Let it cool, refrigerate for an hour, then enjoy!

Deeeeelish.

Tips to Keep Winter Weight Off

Tips to Keep Winter Weight Off
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/chelsea-crockett-tips-to-keep-winter-weight-off.png

Ladies, have you ever heard people say that losing weight is hard, but keeping it off is half the battle? It is so true. Losing weight takes work, and once you’ve got those pounds off you feel amazing! But, life happens, you get busy (and maybe lazy) and the weight starts creeping back. This is especially true when the cold weather comes and all we want to do is be cozy in our jammies on the couch. Here are 5 tips on how to maintain a healthy weight.

  1. Even a few minutes of exercise makes all the difference: Even if you can only get 15 minutes of exercise in, it is better than nothing. I get it, life is busy! But if I can squeeze in a few minutes of exercise, like jumping jacks and sit-ups while I watch TV, I am still getting my heart rate up and my body moving.

  2. Follow through: If you plan to work out, actually do it! You will feel accomplished and proud of yourself.

  3. Mix things up: I can get stuck in the same exercise routine, and I find myself dreading working out because it is boring. To prevent this, mix up your exercise tactics! Do yoga one day, run the next, and maybe try some Zumba! Keeps things interesting.

  4. Think positive: When you think about working out, or about skipping a workout, focus on how great you will feel afterwards. You know that great tired feeling you get in your muscles and the endorphin high you feel? Focus on that. It will motivate you to get your booty to the gym or out on the trail!

  5. Work out, even when you’re sore: That doesn’t mean go out and run ten miles. It means take a nice walk or do some yoga to work the lactic acid out of your muscles and stretch you out. It will help your muscles recover!

Maintaining your ideal weight isn’t a walk in the park, and it takes work, but you can totally do it, and you will feel so good about yourself!

7 Psalms to Help Calm Anxiety

7 Psalms to Help Calm Anxiety
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/chelsea-crockett-7-Psalms-to-Help-Calm-Anxiety.jpg

Life is getting increasingly crazy for this Crockett. I went back to school this year and will be moving to Atlanta soon, which are both huge life changes. Sometimes I can feel overwhelmed when I think of everything coming up, but then I remember who is in control. Going to God with my worries helps calm my heart and my mind. Here are 7 psalms to help calm your anxious heart.

  1. Psalm 121: “I lift my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.”

  2. Psalm 116: “The Lord preserves the simple; when I was brought low, he saved me. Return, O my soul, to rest; for the Lord has dealt bountifully with you.”

  3. Psalm 103: “For as high as the heaves are above the earth, so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us.

  4. Psalm 27: “The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid.”

  5. Psalm 34: “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.”

  6. Psalm 40: “As for you, O Lord, you will not restrain your mercy from me; your steadfast love and your faithfulness will ever preserve me!”

  7. Psalm 62: “For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence, for my hope is from him. He only is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be shaken. On God rests my salvation and my glory; my mighty rock, my refuge is God.”

4 Things to Ask Yourself Before Getting into a Relationship

4 Things to Ask Yourself Before Getting into a Relationship
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/relationships.jpg

Getting into a relationship is a much bigger deal than people make it out to be.  It can end in either one of two ways: breaking up or marriage!   When you put it that way and look at the bigger picture, you should make sure you’re certain about someone before you get into a relationship with them.  Here are four things to ask yourself before dating someone!

  • “Am I ready for a relationship?” First and foremost, you need to put yourself first.  Although you might like the idea of him, make sure YOU are ready to make the commitment.  You need to be sure you’re over any past relationships and are ready to date again.

  • “Does he have everything I’m looking for?” We have to set our standards, ladies!  Sometimes it even helps to write down a list of all the things you look for in someone.  Maybe it’s humor, manners, kindness, or honesty.  The list can go on and on.  Then, go from there!

  • “Are there any red flags?” These are SO important to pick out before you get into a relationship with someone.  If there’s an automatic red flag at any point, you should definitely look further into it!  Whatever it may be true or not, don’t make excuses for it unless you ask them about it first.

  • “Are you both on the same page?” Making sure you have the same morals and values is also an extremely important factor to put into play. Although opposites can attract, most times two people with similar mindsets work out a little better!

I hope this helps you next time you’re unsure about getting into a relationship! 🙂

DIY Butterfinger Fudge

DIY Butterfinger Fudge
https://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/Chelsea-Crockett-DIY-butterfinger-fudge-.jpg

If you love Butterfinger candy bars, then you are going to flip over this fudge! It tastes just like a Butterfinger, but it is made out of candy corn, peanut butter, and white chocolate! Deeeeelicous. It is great as a fall treat for friends or family, or to take to parties! Here is how to make a batch!

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups candy corn

  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter

  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk

  • 2 ¼ cup white chocolate chips

Take aluminum foil and line an 8×8 pan with it. Spray with non-stick cooking spray and set aside. In a medium pan, combine the candy corn and peanut butter. Melt the peanut butter and the candy corn. After they are almost completely melted add in the sweetened condensed milk and stir everything together. It will be pretty thick! Stir the white chocolate chips in until they are completely melted. It will also be very thick & hard to stir! Pour the fudge into the pan that you lined and spread it out with a plastic spatula. Chill your creation in the refrigerator for 2 hour, then cut it into squares and serve!

This creation is so good, you might eat the whole batch by yourself! 😉

Butterfinger Ice Cream Pumpkins

Butterfinger Ice Cream Pumpkins
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/chelsea-creckett-butterfinger-ice-cream-pumpkins.jpg

When you saw the title of this blog, did it make you drool a little bit? Don’t be ashamed if it did, because I totally drooled too. It is drool worthy! In celebration of the wonderful, pumpkin-filled season that is autumn, I have decided to share yet another pumpkin inspired recipe! This one is a cool, sweet, crunchy treat that is sure to be a crowd fav.

Ingredients:

  • Dreyer’s Butterfinger ice cream

  • Fun-size Butterfinger candy bars

  • Chocolate chips

  • Green gummy candy

Place unwrapped fun-size Butterfingers in a plastic bag and crush them with a rolling pin. Place the crushed candy on a plate and roll a scoop of Butterfinger ice cream into the crumbs, making sure the whole ball of ice cream is covered. Place each rolled scoop into a small serving bowl and decorate them like Jack-O-Lanterns with chocolate chips! Use green gummies for the stem.

Sweet pumpkin treats, no carving required! 😉

How to Feel Awake After a Bad Night"s Sleep

How to Feel Awake After a Bad Night"s Sleep
https://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/chelsea-crockett-How-to-Feel-Awake-After-a-Bad-Nights-Sleep.jpg

We have all had those nights when we feel like we toss and turn all night and wake up feeling like we never actually fell asleep. There is nothing worse than waking up feeling exhausted! I have a feeling I am going to find myself having nights with little sleep during my college career, so I went on a search for ways to recover from a bad night’s sleep or from little sleep. Here are 4 of the best ways to feel more energized and awake after a rough night’s sleep. Just because you slept bad doesn’t mean you have to feel miserable!

  1. Watch out for caffeine: A cup of coffee in the morning is just fine, but try to avoid caffeine in the afternoon. If you drink anything with caffeine in it within 4 hours of bed time it can mess up your sleep.

  2. Drink plenty of H2O: Bad sleep leads to dehydration because you are up longer and are using up your body’s natural reserves. Being dehydrated can lead to you feeling even MORE tired, so keep water handy and drink up.

  3. Get some Vitamin D and take a walk: Getting 15 minutes of sunlight in the a.m. helps reset your body clock and increases your body’s levels of serotonin, which increases your mood and energy! Also, getting a quick walk in will help you reduce your fatigue and wake your body up.

  4. Take a cold shower: This doesn’t sound appealing to me at all! But, cold showers can give you a jolt of energy because the splash of cold increases your breathing and oxygen intake, which increases your heart rate and blood flow, which energizes you!

I know these tips will come in handy the next 4 years of college.

Fall Athileisure Style

Fall Athileisure Style
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/chelsea-crockett-fall-athileisure-style.jpg

Athleisure is a trend that I am loving. Athleisure is casual clothing like yoga pants, sweat pants, and pullovers that are designed to be worn for both exercising and style. So, they are athletic clothes that are both trendy and functional, meaning you can wear them to the gym and then to the grocery store and look stylin’ while doing both. This trend is both comfy and cute, so I am ready to hop on board. This sounds like great “college wear.” Here are 3 athleisure looks to try this fall and winter.

  1. Super casual: In this style we see workout leggings paired with a loose tank top layered under a simple pullover. The outfit is finished off with some slip-on sneakers. I like this look because it is effortless and really casual, but it is also comfy and can be worn out and about.

  2. Cute and comfy: This next look pairs workout leggings with some Hunter boots, and white long-sleeve tee layered under a cute thermal pullover and puffy vest. This style is really preppy and cute while also being comfy and practical. It is great for days that start out cold but warm up as the day goes on because you can shed layers.

  3. Trendy and effortless: This next look is the most complex, but is also my personal favorite. This look pairs some workout leggings with awesome textured patches on the knees, a white long-sleeve tee, and a green army jacket with an infinity scarf to top it off. The tennis shoes keep the outfit athletic while the army jacket takes it to a more “street-worthy” state.

I love outfits that I can wear straight from the gym to run errands, or just to be comfy while I’m out and about! Athletic clothes can be dressed up in so many ways to make them more “outfit” ready. Who says comfy can’t also be cute?

XOXO, Chels

How You Can Tell He is Not the One, Right Away

How You Can Tell He is Not the One, Right Away
https://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/chelsea-crockett-How-you-can-tell-he-is-not-the-one-right-away.jpg

First dates are definitely not my favorite. They are nerve wracking! Plus, it is hard to tell if the person sitting across from you on a first date is going to be the person of your dreams, or just a short relationship that will last two weeks. But one thing you can tell is if you actually like the person to begin with. Here are some warning signs that a date is going badly, and that the person across from you so isn’t the one.

  1. Something is just “off”: You can tell within a few hours if you are really “feeling” the other person. If you have a feeling in your gut that it just isn’t working, then trust that feeling.

  2. There is a bad first impression: If you notice them exhibiting characteristics that you know you don’t vibe with (from past experience), then don’t forget those lessons you learned. If you know you don’t like a certain “type” of guy, then don’t make the same mistake twice. Best to cut it off as early as possible to spare feelings.

  3. They put you down: When you are talking, do they listen and make you feel like they are interested? Thumbs up! Do they make you feel like your hobbies and interests are lame? Thumbs down. No one needs to be made to feel like they are less than important on a first date. Even if you have had a crush on this person for a while and then finally go out on a date with them, when you see their true colors it can be disappointing. But don’t make excuses for them. Cut them loose.

  4. They don’t respect your boundaries: If they make jokes about your morals, that is a huge red flag. If they try to question or compromise them, that is an even BIGGER red flag. People that don’t have respect for boundaries can also foreshadow other issues.

Trust your intuition, it is probably steering you in the right direction!
