How to De-Clutter your Life

How to De-Clutter your Life
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/tip-to-declutter-600x400.png

Do you ever just feel overwhelmed with life? I feel most overwhelmed when my room is a mess, my closet is a mess, my bathroom is a mess, and everything else is a mess! The best way to keep that overwhelmed feeling at bay is to simplify your life and de-clutter. Here are a few easy ways to de-clutter your space so you can feel like you’ve got your life together. These are things you can get rid of and not even miss.

Magazines: Let’s face it. We all have a pile of magazines in our room that we insist we will eventually read or make crafts out of. Recycle those puppies! If you haven’t read them yet, you probably won’t be getting to it any time soon. You will always get new magazines in the mail, or if you need them for crafts you can get them at Goodwill!download

Makeup: I have a whole tub of half-used or forgotten-about makeup. What good is it if I don’t use it? Some of it is dried up or broken. Why in the world do I keep it? I have no idea. Toss it!

Hangers: I always seem to have a ton of abandoned hangers jutting out from my closet. They always get in the way when I am trying to put laundry away or pick out clothes to wear. Grab all of those lonely hangers and put them in a storage bin or just get rid of them!

Crafts: Those half-finished DIYs sitting around? Those need to go.

You will not believe how good it feels to de-clutter your space. Seriously, it feels so freeing! Simplifying life is important.

Best Belts This Season

Best Belts This Season
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/chelsea-crockett-the-best-belts-this-season.jpg

How much do you wear belts? My guess is only when your pants need assistance staying on your tush. Your winter wardrobe this year is dependent on them! Belts, that is. You can build your outfit around them and use them to accessorize! You can also use them to shape your clothes to your body. Bold belts can transform a simple ensemble into a stylish outfit. Here are 3 ways to use belts in your wardrobe this winter!

  1. Double-sided buckle: I LOOOVE this trend. It is a fun, unique, Western version of your everyday belt. It has two buckles! My favorite way to wear this belt is to pair it with some black distressed jeans and a loose blouse that I can tuck into the front of my jeans to showcase the belt.e9f97e2d2b26910e30cd6e8cf5104abb

  2. Classic: You can’t go wrong with a simple leather belt. These babies go with pretty much anything. This season, I am wearing mine mostly with dark jeans and a light colored shirt for some cute contrast.

  3. Printed: This last option is the simplest of all. Wear a patterned belt, like leopard print, with a simple shirt and jeans for a simple but sassy outfit. If you want to wear a simple neutral sweater with jeans, wearing a printed belt takes your outfit to the next level.

Belt it up!

Tea: Great for Your Body AND Beauty

Tea: Great for Your Body AND Beauty
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/chelsea-crockett-Tea-Great-for-Your-Body-AND-Beauty.jpg

Sipping on a cup of tea is both delicious and relaxing. It is also super beneficial to put on your body! There are a ton of ways to use tea to enhance both your skin and your hair, whether it is to heal, soothe, or even color! The best teas to use on your skin or hair are green, black, and white teas. The antioxidants in tea are what make it great for you. Here are a few ways to incorporate tea into your beauty routine.

  1. To calm burns: I burn my arm or finger almost every time I curl my hair. Beauty is dangerous! Steeping black tea bags in cool water for a few minutes and then dabbing the bags over your burns helps cool and soothe them. This method is also great for sunburns!tea-bags-moisturize-under-eyes-1

  2. To soothe eyes: If you have puffy eyes then cool green tea in the fridge, dip a cotton round in the tea, and apply the cotton to under your eyes for 10 minutes. Teas contain caffeine which helps constrict the puffiness.

  3. To rinse hair: If you want to stimulate hair growth and make your hair shinier, a tea rinse is what you need! Rinse your hair with warm tea after you shampoo it but before conditioning.

See, tea isn’t just tasty, it’s a beauty product too!

My Top 3 Favorite Vests This Fall

My Top 3 Favorite Vests This Fall
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/chelsea-crockett-My-Top-3-Favorite-Vests-This-Fall.jpg

Vests are a great fall fashion staple. They are great to wear on chilly days when a coat isn’t necessary but you still need a little something to keep you warm. Plus, vests are the ultimate layering piece. There are so many different styles of vests out there this season, so I thought I would round up my top 3 and give you some styling tips with each!

  1. Front-fold vest: This style of vest is pretty new and I am loving it. The inside of the vest folds outward, giving a more layered and dimensional look. This vest is a great casual piece that looks awesome layered with plaid or a solid neutral color.83c6f05b7d84cddc243427512b1e1f56

  2. Faux fur vest: I love these vests because of how versatile they are. You can pair them with a patterned or solid shirt and with pretty much whatever color of pants you want! It can also be dressed up or dressed down depending on the situation.

  3. Quilted: This is the most popular type of vest. These are an awesome addition to your everyday fall wardrobe. They are comfy and cozy and casual. Pair with a simple button up and riding boots for a cute casual outfit, or layer over a sporty hoodie for a sporty look.

What is your favorite vest to wear this fall?

5 Clothing Tips to Follow Before Cold Weather Hits

5 Clothing Tips to Follow Before Cold Weather Hits
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/Chelsea-Crockett-Cold-Weather-Clothing-Tips.jpg

When winter starts to roll in, there are certain things to do to prepare your closet for the cold weather ahead.  I always make sure my wardrobe is ready for the season, whether it be summer or winter.  Make sure you check these essentials off your list so you can be ready, too!

  • Change your closet from warm to cold.  My closet used to get extremely cluttered with all of my summer and winter clothes stuffed together.  Switch out all of your shorts and sandals for pants and booties!Chelsea Crockett - Winter Outift

  • Purchase a neutral, warm coat that will go with a majority of your outfits.  Finding a coat that is both stylish and keeps you warm is key for the cold weather!

  • Also, purchase a good pair of snow/rain boots.  Especially if you’re in college, walking to class in the snow without a good pair of boots will be awful!

  • Know how to layer.  When it comes to looking stylish in the winter, layering up with different shirts and jackets is a necessity.  I sometimes find it hard to find a cute outfit to wear and be warm at the same time.  Knowing how to layer like a pro is the perfect way to achieve this!

  • Purchase the perfect winter accessories that go with your style.  Accessories such as beanies, scarves, high socks, tights, etc. are the best way to spice up your outfit and make your outfit warmer at the same time!  You get the best of both worlds, right?

I hope you’re all prepared for an awesome winter ahead!

3 DIYS for Dry Skin

3 DIYS for Dry Skin
https://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/Chelsea-Crockett-Dry-Skin-DIYs.jpg

Lemme tell ya… cold weather can be rough on the skin!  As soon as the temperature drops, my face starts getting drier and drier.  I’ve tried different products that have worked for my skin type and others that have made it even worse.  I’ve found a few DIYs you can do at home that actually make a difference and cost almost nothing!

  • Egg yolk on your face might not sound like the most pleasant thing, but egg yolk contains proteins that help with shedding skin!  Mix together a teaspoon of olive oil and two egg yolks.  Apply the mixture to your face for about 5 minutes and rinse it off with warm water!Chelsea Crockett - Lemon Face Mask

  • Mix together a teaspoon of sugar and the juice from half of a lemon.  The sugar works as a scrub to remove any dead or flakey skin.  The lemon juice helps promote skin growth which leaves your pores smooth and glowing!  Scrub the mask on in a circular motion for about 10-15 minutes.  Then rinse it off!

  • Dry skin doesn’t only appear on your face.  If you have problems with dry skin on other areas of your body, put a cup of sea salt in a warm bath and relax in it for 20 minutes or so!  If you repeat this process 2 or 3 times a week, your skin will be detoxed, smooth, and hydrated!

Which DIY recipe are you going to try out?  Tell me below!

Ways to Break Your Cell Phone Habit

Ways to Break Your Cell Phone Habit
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/Chelsea-Crockett-Cell-Phone-Habit.jpg

So much of what we do revolves around our phones.  What we post on Instagram, knowing what the temperature is outside, and getting directions somewhere are just a few things we rely on our phones for!  If you find yourself constantly wanting to check or be on your phone, follow some of these tips to break your cell phone habit!

  • It’s sad to say most of us won’t go to sleep without checking our phones.  Put your phone in another room!  If you rely on it for your alarm, then put it out of reach so you’ll still wake up but not be tempted into checking it.

  • Pick two hours a day to go without your phone. Chelsea Crockett - Phone Meme I know I easily get distracted by checking social medias or watching YouTube videos on my phone.  Turn it off for an hour or two and work on homework, clean your room, or go for a run!

  • Set in on “do not disturb.”  A lot of times I can’t get off my phone because I’m constantly getting notifications from social media, group chats, etc.  Putting your phone on “do not disturb” means you still get the notifications without them popping up on your screen every two seconds!

  • Don’t check your phone first thing in the morning.  After a while, it becomes habit to check your emails, social medias, etc. as soon as your alarm goes off.  Studies show that automatically waking up to sit on your phone for a half hour is a bad start to your day and can cause added stress or anxiety!

Do you have a tip that helps you stay off your phone?  Share with me in the comments below!

Easy Dorm Christmas Decorations

Easy Dorm Christmas Decorations
https://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/chelsea-crockett-easy-dorm-room-christmas-decorations.jpg

Christmas really is the most wonderful time of the year. Really and truly. All of the pretty decorations make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside, and can really keep you feeling merry and bright all season long. If you are in college and living in a dorm, you can still decorate your space and make it feel like home. Here are a few cute and easy Christmas decorations for your dorm!

  1. Window ornaments: I think this idea is darling. Just tie plastic ball ornaments to ribbon cut at different lengths, and then tie the ribbon to the curtain rods in your windows! This is a cute way to hang ornaments, especially if you don’t have a Christmas tree in your room.window

  2. Decorate your door: There are so many creative ways to decorate your dorm room door for Christmas, like making it look like a giant wrapped present, or making it look like a fireplace with stockings with you and your roommate’s names on them hanging from it. Your room is sure to be the cutest and most festive one on the floor!door

  3. Twinkly lights: Hang those puppies everywhere! From the ceiling to the window frames to the walls. You can really get creative with them, or keep it simple, but whatever the case twinkly lights are the ultimate Christmas decor must-have. They give off such a calming, warm wintry vibe.

All of these ideas are super easy, super cheap, and totally cute.

How to Get in The Christmas Spirit in College

How to Get in The Christmas Spirit in College
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/images-1-1.jpg

Celebrating Christmas in college may seem different because you are older, and you may be away from home. Just because it is different doesn’t mean it has to be any less spectacular! You may be neck-deep in homework, but there is always room for Christmas cheer. Here is how to pump up the Christmas spirit when you are in college.

  1. Get a small cute tree for your dorm room that has cute twinkly lights.

  2. Speaking of twinkly lights — put them everywhere! Hang them from the ceiling, the walls, around the windows, anywhere that you think needs a little Christmas cheer.

  3. Write a Christmas list. Your parents are probably wondering what you are wanting for Christmas, so make it easy on them.6a015431fc4e55970c01b8d0a53e4a970c

  4. Find out if your campus is holding any Christmas-themed events, and go to them! Is there caroling going on in the dorms? Go to it! Gingerbread house decorating contest? Go! Secret Santa? Do it!

  5. Decorate stockings with your roommates. And while you’re doing it, watch Elf.

  6. Go ice skating, visit a Christmas tree farm, go to a local church’s Christmas production, and find other fun local Christmas events in your area.

  7. Bake Christmas cookies and deliver them to everyone in your hall.

  8. Listen to Christmas music while you study.

  9. Take “family Christmas pictures” with your friends. So funny.

These are just a few easy ways to get in the Christmas spirit in college that you may not have thought of. What do you do to get into the Christmas spirit?

How to Style Black on Black This Fall

How to Style Black on Black This Fall
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/chelsea-crockett-how-to-style-black-on-black-this-fall.jpg

I think wearing black on black is so chic and sophistocated. But, there is a difference between wearing all black and looking sophistocated and wearing all black and looking overly grungy. We want to lean more towards classy and chic, so here are a few ways to do just that!

  1. Play with shades: There are different shades of black. When I say that, I mean there is lighter blacks that are more dark gray-ish and then there are pitch blacks. My advice is to play with different shades of black and dark gray in an outfit to add dimension and break up the black.f38aae0339472b8db4a38cf381077481

  2. Work with patterns: Wear black ripped jeans with a quilted black leather jacket and plain black or dark gray tee. The different patterns and textures of the pieces will keep things interesting and distract from the solomness of the dark shade. You can also wear black tops with white trim or patterns to add some accent!

  3. Go bold: This look is for the girl that knows wearing all black is an art and takes planning, and she embraces it. Like I said earlier, there is a fine line between looking sophistocated and going too overboard with wearing all black. In this outfit we go bold and we pair plain black skinnies with a classic leather biker jacket and black booties. We can even toss in a black handbag with silver zippers and snaps, so that the accents on the handbag accentuate the oufit. The silver accents on the buckles of the boots and the snaps on the jacket and handbag help break up the black.

Remember to keep things classy and chic when planning an all black ensemble. Be bold, and be brave when making fashion choices! J

Your Guide to Hosting Friendsgiving

Your Guide to Hosting Friendsgiving
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/chelsea-croclett-happy-friendsgiving.jpg

What is the one thing that is almost as good as Thanksgiving with your family? Friendsgiving of course! As we get older, we start making traditions of our own, and one of my favorite new traditions is having a Thanksgiving with my friends, or “Friendsgiving.” Here are a few tips on how to host the best Friendsgiving ever.

  1. You make the main course, they do the rest: As the host of the party, you are in charge of the main parts of the meal such as the turkey, stuffing, and pumpkin pie. But the rest of the meal should involve your friends! Have them bring their favorite side dish or appetizer.this-aint-your-mommas-thanksgiving-happy-friendsgiving-7d42b

  2. Go all out DIY: No need for fancy decorations or décor, make your own place mats out of brown craft paper and other cute decorations with tissue paper and jars.

  3. Mason jars galore: Speaking of jars, use them as cups! You can even tie little bows around the necks of the glasses to make them a little more festive.

  4. Set the mood: Having the right background music playing gets the party going. Some good tunes playing low enough for people to hear them but soft enough for people to be able to hear their conversations can really set a relaxed but joyful mood.

  5. Send home the leftovers: Buy some to-go boxes and after the night is over, send leftovers home with your guests! College students love leftovers!! Especially Thanksgiving leftovers.

Happy Friendsgiving!

XOXO, Chels

Thanksgiving Inspired Milkshake: Candy Corn Edition

Thanksgiving Inspired Milkshake: Candy Corn Edition
https://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/chelsea-crockett-candy-corn-milkshake.jpg

Candy corn. It’s EVERYWHERE! Luckily, I am a lover of the sweet stuff, so it doesn’t bother me one bit. In fact, I embrace it, and try to make everything I can with it! Here is a candy corn inspired milk shake that is sure to rock your world.

Ingredients:

  • 1 quart vanilla ice cream

  •  1 quart orange sherbet

  •  Whipped cream or Cool White

  • Yellow Food Coloring

  • Black yellow & orange sprinklescandy-corn2-jpg

Let the vanilla ice cream soften for about 25 minutes outside of the freezer. After it is softened take 1/3 of the ice cream and put it into a bowl. Put the ice cream back in the freezer. Add yellow food coloring to the ice cream in the bowl until you have the color you want. Mix it well. Take your orange sherbet out of the freezer to allow it to start softening. Get out the glasses you will be serving your milk shakes in, whether it is mason jars or glass drinking glasses, and spoon yellow ice cream into the bottoms, filling the cups about 1/3 full. After smoothing out the top as evenly as you can, wipe down the inside of the cups with a paper towel to remove ice cream streaks. Place your cups in the freezer for about 5-10 minutes to let the layer harden a little. Take your vanilla ice cream out of the freezer again to allow it to start softening. Remove the cups from the freezer and carefully spoon in the orange sherbet, layering it on top of the yellow and filling the cups about 2/3 full. Again, smooth out the top. Wipe the excess on the inside of the cups with a paper towel. Place the cups back in the freezer for 5-10 minutes. Remove the cups from the freezer and add the last layer of vanilla ice cream, filling the cups with 1/2 inch left at the top of the cup. Smooth out the tops again. If you want you can top them off with some whipped cream and sprinkles! Keep them in the freezer until you serve them.

They’re sure to be a hit at every Thanksgiving party on the block!

XOXO, Chels

Brow Color 101

Brow Color 101
https://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/chelsea-crockett-brow-color-101.jpg

Brow maintenance is a mystery to me. How am I supposed to know what product works best for my brows? Is it brow pencils? Powder? Gel? Pens? It can be overwhelming! There are so many ways to keep your brows on fleek. Here is a mini guide to the basic ways to fill your brows!

  1. Brow powder: If you want a more subtle, softer look opt for brow powder or a matte eye shadow that is a little lighter than your brows. Use an angled brow brush to outline and fill your brows with the powder using gentle strokes.images

  2. Brow pencil: This is the simplest way to shape and fill your brows. They come in many shades so you can find the perfect color to match your brows! If you use short, light strokes to fill your brows it will look perfectly natural.

  3. Brow marker: This is the least popular method of shaping brows, but it still deserves a mention! Brow markers have the benefit of persistence- they stay on for hours and won’t smudge easily!

  4. Brow gel: If you have crazy unruly brows, use brow gel to tame and fill them. You can even use Vaseline to shape your brows if you already have dark thick ones.

Combine one or two of these methods to create the perfect brow routine for you! Get those eyebrows on fleek, girl!

Hairstyles for Runners

Hairstyles for Runners
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/chelsesa-crockett-hairstyles-for-runners.jpg

As a runner, I know how hard it is to find hair styles that work for working out. When I am running, I hate the feeling of my ponytail swooping back and forth, I hate it when braids hit my back, and I cannot stand hair in my face! There are only a few hair styles I approve of when going on a run for those reasons. Here are my favs!

  1. Low pony: This is the easiest style of them all. Low ponies are better than high because they don’t swoosh around when you’re running. They’re quick to do, and to keep the flyaway hairs out of your face add in a headband.fullsizerender-61

  2. French braid: This one is my go-to running style. I love it because, like a low ponytail, it doesn’t swoosh around when you run, and the braid keeps the hair off of your forehead. Plus it is super cute!

  3. Mini Ponies: This last style is the most complicated, but that being said it is still very easy to do. It is great for ladies with long hair or lots of layers. Grab the section of hair at the top of your head into ponytail. Tie it with an elastic. Gather another section further down and secure it into an elastic, including the top section. Keep this going until you secure the final ponytail with a more durable band.

Having my hair secured while I run is essential for me to have a successful workout. Without having to worry about my hair falling out or getting in my face I am free to run as I please!

XOXO, Chels

First comes first, your dress.  It’s good to stick to winter colors instead of bright, summer colors or patterns.  Neutral colors such as black, cream, and silver are all good choices! Chelsea Crockett - Black Dress If you like a little color, maroon, dark reds, greens, and blues are winter appropriate and super popular for the season.  As far as style, I love simple dresses that are timeless.  The picture on the left is a good example of this!  I also suggest finding a dress with sleeves.  Wearing a jacket with a sleeveless dress can sometimes be a pain.  Sleeves are a good substitute that permit to the weather!  Another cute style is off-the-shoulder.  You can still find sleeved off-the-shoulder dresses that are good for the cold weather.  As far as shoes go, heeled booties are both formal and weather appropriate!

Windsor is one of my favorite places to dress shop.  They have so many dresses like the ones I described above!  Other good places to look are Dillard’s, Nordstrom, and Forever 21.  I suggest shopping in stores instead of online to guarantee the perfect fit!

Which look will you be rocking for your winter dance?  Let me know in the comments below!

How to Create a Good Habit

How to Create a Good Habit
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/Chelsea-Crockett-Habits.jpg

Habits don’t always have to be bad. Some habits that we make such as working out every day or reading our bibles daily can help us grow physically and/or mentally. There’s ways to make something you do turn into a habit such as eating healthy or going to bed early. Here’s how!

Scientifically, habits are formed within 21 days. Chelsea Crockett - Good Habit ListThat means if you repeat something consistently for exactly 3 weeks, your mind will form the action into a habit.  That being said, you can also break a habit in 21 days such as biting your nails or eating certain junk food every day after school!  Here’s a step-by-step list of how you can achieve this:

  1. Make a list of which habits you want to make or which habits you want to break.

  2. Motivate yourself!  Write down the reasons for why you’re making that habit.  If your habit is to go to sleep earlier every night, write down why you want to do so!  This will remind you to stick to it.

  3. Make a countdown.  If you can make it to 21 days, then you’re on the right track!  After 3 weeks, you shouldn’t even have to think about it.  It should just come naturally!

  4. Come up with a reward to give yourself after 21 days.  You made it!  (You can even go off the picture to the right to make your own list!)

Think of something you want to turn into a good habit and do it.  With a little motivation, it’s easier than you think!

Creative Ways to Fall Asleep Faster

Creative Ways to Fall Asleep Faster
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/Chelsea-Crockett-Fall-Asleep-Better.jpg

Getting snuggled up in bed at the end of the day is one of my favorite things. Sometimes I can fall asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow. Other times, it takes me an hour or so to even get tired! There are certain things I do that help me fall asleep on those nights. If you have trouble sleeping, try out some of these tips. They really work!

  • Cut down on caffeine intake. Chelsea Crockett - Falling Asleep Meme If caffeine affects you in even the slightest way, then watch how much you drink of it!  If you love coffee, tea, etc., then monitor what time of the day you have it.

  • Hide your clock.  When I can’t sleep, I often get frustrated when I watch the time get later and later.  Turn your clock around or shut off your phone!  That way you won’t be tempted to sneak a peek at the clock.

  • Light a lavender candle.  Lavender is proven to be one of the most relaxing scents for your body.  Lighting a candle or spraying a lavender scent around your room before you go to bed is extremely calming!

  • Focus on your breathing.  Focusing on one thing can take your mind off the fact that you can’t fall asleep.  Focus on keeping slow and steady breaths!

  • Picture yourself in your favorite setting.  Whether that be at the beach or surrounded by your friends and family, focusing on your happy place will help calm any nerves or anxious thoughts you may be having.

Hopefully these help you get a little more sleep to keep you energized during the busy weeks ahead. I know I need it!

Odd But Effective Skin Care Advice

Odd But Effective Skin Care Advice
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/odd-but-effective-Skin-Care-Advice-chelsea-crockett.jpg

I am all about wrinkle prevention. Most of us think that wearing sunscreen and keeping our face moisturized is all it takes, but that isn’t the case! There are quite a few weird habits that can prevent wrinkles and protect your skin. Wrinkles and skin damage are caused by factors that we can and cannot control. Exposure to the sun and smoking are big causes of wrinkles, but a healthy diet, good sleep, moisturizing and sunscreen can protect against wrinkles. Here are some weird habits that help protect your skin from damage and aging.

  1. Sleeping position: Sleeping on your back is best for your face! Sleeping on either side can cause wrinkles on the sides of your face that you sleep on, and gravity begins to take its course.

  2. Chocolate: Yep, you heard that right! A little dark chocolate a day can help protect your skin from the negative effects of sun-exposure. The antioxidants naturally found in cocoa are great for your skin.skincare

  3. Washing your face less often: This may sound weird, but too much cleansing strips your skin of its natural oils and moisture, and those are things that help protect against wrinkles.

  4. Cutting back on sugar: That second latte of the day may seem harmless, but it is actually causing more harm than good! Excess sugar in our blood stream causes early aging in our skin.

The healthier your habits and the more you protect your skin, the less likely you will be to get those unwanted wrinkles. The earlier you start on prevention the better!

How To Style Winter Whites

How To Style Winter Whites
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/chelsea-crockett-how-to-style-winter-whites.jpg

You know the phrase “you can’t wear white after Labor Day”? Throw that rule out the window. It is always a good day to wear white! There are so many great ways to style white that don’t require the weather to be spring or summer. From sweaters to jeans to handbags and dresses, you name it, you can wear it in white. As long as you incorporate other elements that match the outside temps, like a scarf or layers, then you are good to go. Here are 4 ways to rock winter whites.

  1. Bell-sleeve dress: I love the bohemian/retro look of bell-sleeve dresses. Because they are long-sleeved, you can wear them in the chilly weather when paired with some booties. You could even pull on a pair of nylon tights and a vest if you want to add some extra warmth to the ensemble. autumn-hippie-bell-sleeve-dress-free-femininos-people-white-embroidery-vintage-long-maxi-dresses-women-boho

  2. White handbag: White handbags look so fresh and clean. They add a clean pop of style to any ensemble, and they go with everything!i_216655328_01_20150226

  3. Distressed white jeans: The great thing about white jeans is that you can them year-round. I also love all of the outfit possibilities they bring! Plus, when you add in the distressed look, you add a little extra dimensions You can wear them with an army jacket and black booties for an edgy look, or if you want to keep it simple, pair them with a loose neutral-colored oversized sweater and brown leather booties.winter_white3

  4. White sweater: White sweaters come in all shapes and sizes. You can layer them or wear them by themselves. I love a crisp white cardigan because they are totally versatile, and I love an oversized white sweater that goes with almost any color of pants.eb80c430f7c013fe29312c0b5702fc90

How will you be wearing your winter whites?

4 Ways to Improve Your Prayer Life

4 Ways to Improve Your Prayer Life
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/chelsea-crockett-4-ways-to-improve-your-prayer-life.jpg

Prayer is a powerful thing. Sometimes, it can be a tough thing to do. Our prayer lives reveal so much about our relationship with God, but sometimes we can put it on the back burner and it can get lost in the craziness of life. We get lazy, busy, or too distracted. Even if you are not much of a prayer, it is so important to maintain a strong prayer life. If yours is in need of a jumpstart, here are a few tips on how to improve your prayer life.

  1. Write your prayers down: Use a journal to write your prayers down. Not only does this help you focus and allows you to vent and get your feelings out, it also allows you to look back at your prayers and see how God worked through them!fullsizerender-59

  2. Doodle your prayers: Yes, doodle! Grab a sketch book or a piece of paper and doodle while you prayer. Draw your prayers or doodle as you pray. It can help calm you and help you surrender your worries to God. It will also be a fun way to incentivize yourself to pray.

  3. Pray through scripture: The Bible is full of prayers. You can take them and adopt them to your life and your prayers, and you can use them as inspiration. The Bible is an awesome resource!

  4. Read about it: There are countless books written about prayer. You can also ask close friends or mentors about how they maintain a strong prayer life. Never be ashamed to ask others about their Faith! They have most likely had the same struggles in their walk with God that you are having and can give you advice on how to overcome them.

Having a strong prayer life is essential. It is how we talk to God, and how he talks back! God loves hearing your prayers.

Don’t let the cold weather creep up on your summer body you worked so hard for! Just because the seasons changed doesn’t mean your body has to. Keep fit by mixing up your workouts. Cardio some days, strength others, and mix them every so often! Here is a great ab workout to keep that winter muffin top away.

50 crunches

15 pushups

1 minute plank

30 second side plank

1 minute bridge

You will be feeling this one the next day, I guarantee it! I love the sore feeling I get the day after a great workout, don’t you? It reminds you how hard you worked. On days when you aren’t able to get a full work out in, little quick exercises like the one above can really come in handy! Any workout is better than no workout.

How to Find Joy in the Hard Times

How to Find Joy in the Hard Times
https://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/chelsea-crockett-how-to-find-joy-in-the-hard-times.jpg

Sometimes life is just hard. Sometimes it can feel like life isn’t fair. Why are bad things happening to me? Will I ever get through this? The answer is yes. And you do not have to go through it alone. We all go through trials and sorrow, Jesus himself tells us this in John 16:33! But, the good news? The pain you are going though right now cannot even compare to the joy that is coming! That is from Romans 8:18. Here are a few ways that you can find joy in the hard times.

  1. Have peace: The great thing about this life is that we aren’t walking through it alone, and we can have peace because we know that God has a plan for our lives, and we can have peace in Him. Nothing surprises Him, he has it all planned out! Why worry about life when God has it all under control? Your story is already written! Have peace and know that Jesus has conquered death, and overcame the world. There is nothing He cannot do.62b50cf1f0f2626a5612d78af83f8ce1

  2. Rejoice: You may be thinking “Rejoice? How can I rejoice when I feel like my world is falling apart? How can I rejoice when I feel so sad and alone?” When Paul and Silas were in a dungeon, beaten and shackled in a dark cell, they began praying and singing praises to God. While shackled! And beaten! Other prisoners saw them praising God even in their misery, and they were astounded. Their praising God in their darkest time showed the other prisoners just how much they loved their God. That is what we are called to do, rejoice in our misery because this will show others we trust God. Rejoice, because He is always there, He will never leave us!

You will be so surprised at how God can work in your life when you surrender your pain and sorrow to Him. He will open your eyes to the good in your life, He will put people in your life that will uplift and encourage you, and He will give you strength to get through every hardship you endure! Trust in Him and cast your burdens on Him, because he cares SO much for you.

Cardio Workouts for Non-Runners

Cardio Workouts for Non-Runners
https://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/Chelsea-Crockett-Cardio-Workouts.jpg

If you’re like me, running is a way to get in shape and relieve stress at the same time!  It’s one of my favorite things to do when I have the time.  Some days though I don’t always feel like going for a run but still want to get some cardio in.  Or maybe you absolutely hate running and want a way to get cardio in without having to do so.  Here are some substitutions for a cardio exercise!

  • Go for a bike ride!  Biking is an awesome workout to do if you’re not into running.  It tones your legs and gets your lungs pumping.  Not to mention that it’s fun and enjoyable!

  • Try out a boxing class!  Chelsea Crockett - Workout JumpsI wish I could get more into boxing.  So many celebrities and models swear by it!  It tones your whole body and is a great cardio workout.

  • Do an interval workout.  Interval workouts are up to you what you choose to include in them.  I always like mixing in jumping jacks, burpees, stairs, etc.  Whatever gets your heart pumping!

  • Go for a swim.  Swimming is such a good workout.  If you have access to a pool, wake up early and go for a swim!

  • Give Zumba a try!  Zumba not only gets your body moving but lets you have fun while doing so!  Get some of your friends to go with you and get your bodies moving!

Do you like to run?  Or are one of these workouts your go-to?  Let me know in the comments below! 🙂

DIY Bathroom Storage Ideas

DIY Bathroom Storage Ideas
https://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/Chelsea-Crockett-Bathroom-Storage-Ideas.jpg

Whether you’re living in a dorm, apartment, or you’re still at home, everyone can use a little more space when it comes to bathroom storage.  Especially if you’re in college, living the dorm life can leave you with minimal bathroom space.  I came up with a few DIYs you can use when it comes to bathroom storage that are both cute and helpful… That way, you get the best of both worlds!

  • DIY Mason Jars.  Mason jars are some of my favorite things to use as organizers.  They give off a vintage feel and you can decorate them to match your room, bathroom, etc.  You can use paint and fun tape to customize them yourself!  Chelsea Crockett - Magnetic Organizer

  • Multiple Hook Towel Rack.  When there’s only one or two hooks to hang your towels on, you can run into some trouble, especially if you share a bathroom with others.  Get a rack to mount on your wall or door to keep each other’s towels apart and dry!

  • Plastic containers.  Don’t underestimate the power of plastic containers!  There are tons of different plastic bins and containers to separate and organize your bathroom stuff in.  You can even purchase stackable ones and label whose is whose!

  • Wall cup organizer.  Organizers like the featured image above are super handy and not to mention so cute!  I suggest using your walls to your advantage.  Only storing things in your bathroom drawers or cabinets can get cluttered and unorganized!

  • Magnetic organizers.  These things are lifechanging and I didn’t even know they existed!  The picture on the right shows different magnetic organizers you can mount on your wall.  They make it easy to keep things separated and easy to find!

I hope these help you organize your bathroom better!

Stitch Fix Boxes

Stitch Fix Boxes
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/Chelsea-Crockett-Stitch-Fix.jpg

There has been a recent trend of new businesses and companies sending out monthly boxes filled with sample products and goodies.  Companies such as Faithbox and FabFitFun are two examples of trendy businesses that use their packages to get the word out for certain products.  Stitch Fix is a company similar to this that was recently brought to my attention!

The main point of these boxes is to find things that match your personal style and have fun while doing it!  Here’s how it works.  First, you take a short style quiz to figure out which accessories and pieces of clothing you’ll like best.  Stitch Fix ships the box with 5 either accessories or pieces of clothing right to your door!  Everything sent to you revolves around your style and budget.  You may be thinking “how can I afford this?”  The best part about this is you only pay for what you want to keep and send back what you don’t!  That way you can test out what fits your style and what doesn’t.  It’s like your own personal stylist!Chelsea Crockett - Stitch Fix Box

As far as when you receive each box, you can choose to get them regularly or whenever you please!  After each box, you can give feedback so your next box is even more personalized to what you like.  There is a $20 styling fee but is only added in to your final order!  Another plus is that each item you receive is fairly priced and something not everyone is going to have.  And if you like all 5 items, you get a 25% discount!

Try it out and let me know what you think! 🙂

Converse fashion This Fall

Converse fashion This Fall
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/chelsea-crockett-converse-fashion-this-fall.jpg

Converse shoes are coming back with a bang! I see them everywhere, and I love it. I love their retro flare. In the summer time girls we wear Converse with jean cutoff shorts and t-shirts, but in the cooler fall temps the outfits transition just like the weather! Here are my favorite ways to wear Converse shoes in the fall.

  1. Comfy cozy: For a chilly day at school, wear a pair of dark jeans, a cozy over-sized sweater, and some white Converse. It doesn’t get any cozier than that8772f6dff43b5c7de4a1fa53354b7114

  2. Edgy: Pair some leather leggings and white hi-top Converse with a white tee and army jacket for an edgy outfit.

  3. Cute and casual: A great everyday outfit is converse with ripped jeans and a white tee layered with a chunky long cardigan! This is a great outfit for school or running out and about.

Converse can be worn so many more ways, they are just so versatile and timeless! What is YOUR favorite way to wear them when the weather gets cool?

XOXO, Chels

Cold Weather Workout Gear

Cold Weather Workout Gear
https://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/chelsea-crockett-cold-weather-workout-gear.jpg

As it gets cooler outside, working out in the great outdoors becomes easier. During the summer I can barely stand to be outside more than 20 minutes, let alone exercising outside! One plus to cooler weather is that you get to wear adorable warm workout gear! Here are my chilly weather workout essentials.

  1. Cute thermal leggings: When I run outside in the fall and winter I have to make sure my legs stay warm. Even walking to the gym from my car is chilly! So, that is where adorable workout leggings come in. There are so many cool patterns and styles out there, and they come in a variety of lengths for whatever the weather requires!fullsizerender-58

  2. A cute workout hoodie: I love thin workout jackets that are still warm but do not weigh you down. If you are on a run or doing an outdoor workout, a lightweight hoodie is a must. You can easily take it off if you get warm and wrap it around your waist, but it is always a good idea to overdress in case it is cooler than you think out there!

  3. Adorable ear warmers: Some people may think wearing ear warmers makes them look silly, but they just haven’t found the right pair! Keeping your head warm will ensure the rest of your body stays warm, so keep those ears nice and cozy. Plus, they keep your hair out of your face!

I love cold weather workout gear, don’t you? Sometimes I wear it to school even when I am not going to work out. It is just too cozy to pass up! 😉

XOXO, Chels
