I go to California often; sometimes for work, sometimes for fun. I love Cali! On my last trip for BeautyCon LA, my friends and I decided to take a breakfast trip to Urth Caffe (you know, that organic restaurant all the celebs Instagram). I was very curious to try their blended green tea drink! I immediately fell in love and looked up how to make it on my own. I want all of you to try it too! Bring Urth Caffe to your kitchen!Chelsea Crockett- matcha green tea

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Blender
  • 1 tablespoon of 100% matcha green tea leaf powder
  • 1 cup of any type of milk (soy, skim, almond, etc.)
  • 2/3 cup of ice  
  • Sugar or Stevia (optional)

It’s pretty simple. Combine all the ingredients into a blender and enjoy! You can add a few drops of mint (my favorite) or vanilla flavoring, or a banana to change it up. If you want your drink more or less “shake-like” you can add as little or as much ice as you’d like. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

Dying your hair can be fun, but it can also be disastrous! It can be messy, turn out the wrong color, or look splotchy! There is a lot of debate whether or not getting your hair dyed at a salon is actually worth it. While it is definitely more expensive than doing it yourself, the results are far better than box dye.   • Dye takes the moisture out of your hair leaving it dry and brittle. Salon dye is better quality than box dye, which is healthier for your hair. You’ll notice less split ends and a silkier result with salon dye.
  • Stylists know how to fix a mistake! There are specific products used to fix a dye mishap. Professional stylists know how to fix the problem without worsening or damaging your hair.
  • Salons are equipped with the proper tools, including foil and applicators.
  • Many people don’t know that there are multiple steps if you want to go much lighter or much darker. Most of the time, a stylist has to strip the hair of its color before the desired color can be applied. If you go straight into using the box dye, the color may turn out entirely different!
  • When dying your hair at home you have to be very careful! Dye can ruin your clothes, towels, or furniture. It’s much more powerful than you think!

My sister and I are pretty tight. In fact, I would consider her one of my best friends. Having a sister is pretty much the best thing on the planet because you have a built in best friend. Here are 6 signs your sister is your BFF fo life.

She is your built in best friend: Because you guys have been together since birth, may have shared a room at one point, and have lived in the same vicinity for as long as you remember, you have a built in BFF! She goes on all of your vacations, to all of your sporting events and performances, and has been your lifelong partner in crime.
  3. She will “courtesy like” your facebook status: Even when the post makes no sense or the picture isn’t quite on fleek, your sister will like everything you post on social media. It comes with the job description.
  4. You suffer through boring events together: Whether it is your cousin’s graduation ceremony or your mom’s cousin’s daughter’s wedding reception, she is there to entertain you through every boring situation and then will laugh about it with you later.

Watermelon + coconut water = the most refreshing combination ever! This summer I have been seeking out all kinds of refreshing beverages because of the sweltering heat in Illinois. Luckily I stumbled across an article on Lauren Conrad’s website that clued me in on watermelon coconut water! Not only is it mega refreshing, it is also good for you! Here is how you can whip yourself up a batch.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups cubed chilled watermelon
  • 1 cup coconut water400834_390257437749600_1431811470_n
  • 1 large lemon
  • Ice cubes

Add all the ingredients together in a blender. If your watermelon is really sweet, adding a generous amount of freshly squeezed lemon boosts the flavor! If you like taste of coconut, add more coconut water to this. Blend all of the ingredients until smooth. Take a sip and see what you think! I adjusted the recipe a bit to fit the sweetness of my watermelon, and you may need to as well.

 

This drink has a beachy flare to it, so if you are craving a day at the beach but live nowhere near one, then this delicious delicacy will make you think you are somewhere with your toes in the sand. ;)

High heels are totes adorbs. I will give you that much. But you know what totally stinks about them? How severely uncomfortable they are. Here are 5 reasons why high heels aren’t worth it.

1. THEY ARE (DUH) UNCOMFORTABLE:

I have met girls that say they love high heels and could walk a mile in them. To them I say: lucky ducks! For the other 90% of us, we experience pain within 1 hour of wearing heels. Why be uncomfortable?

 

2. THEY HAVE NO SUPPORT:

Heels often offer zero arch or ankle support which can cause tons of pains throughout your body. The fact is that your feet were not designed to wear high heels, especially not every day for long periods of time.Comic-3638610742d41d8cd98f00b204e9800998ecf8427e_700b

 

3. THEY DON’T REALLY MAKE YOU LOOK TALLER:

Sure, that extra 2 or 3 inches feels like a ton of extra height to you, but to the average joe you look pretty much the same! If you want your legs to look longer you should wear shoes that have an open top so you aren’t cutting your legs off at the ankles. Also, pointy toed shoes elongate your feet and legs, so grab a pair of flats like this!

 

4.  THEY MAKE IT DIFFICULT BE ACTIVE

Do you ever see photos of models in magazines wearing 4 inch heels and running down the street to catch a cab, with their hair and dress blowing in the wind? Totally not realistic. If you have ever tried to get somewhere in a hurry while wearing heels, you know that the words “hurry” and “heels” do not go together.

 

5. THEY ARE JUST AS CUTE AS FLATS:

Trust me when I say that a cute pair of flats is just as chic as a cute pair of heels. You can look polished and professional in both! Plus, flats tend to be a bit more affordable. ;)

 

Don’t force yourself to suffer through a day wearing heels when you would be just as well of wearing a cute pair of flats!

I found the most AMAZING fall recipe on the Sally’s Baking Addiction blog! It is for apples that are filled with apple pie. Holy smokes, I think I am in love! With a touch of vanilla ice cream on the side, these mini apple pies may just knock your socks off. Here is how to whip yourself up a batch!

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 of a homemade pie crustmedium
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp warm water
  • 5 large, round, firm Granny Smith apples
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp milk

 

Make the pie crust and then allow it to chill for 2 hours. In a small bowl mix the cornstarch and warm water until it is creamy and the cornstarch has dissolved. Put it to the side and then peel and dice 1 of the apples. Cook the apple pieces, cornstarch mixture, cinnamon and sugar in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Stir regularly for 5 minutes and then let it simmer for 5 more minutes. After removing the pot from heat, add in the vanilla and let it cool for 20 minutes. Sprinkle flour onto your counter and then roll out the pie dough until you have a circle that is 10 inches wide. Cut the dough into fourths with a pizza cutter, and then cut each quarter into .25 inch wide strips. After preheating the oven at 375F degrees slice the tops off of the last 4 apples. Use a spoon to dig out the core and then spoon the apple filling you made on the stove into the apples. Lay 3 strips of the cut pie dough across the top of the apples, and then weave 3 more strips across the dough the other way. Trim the extra dough off and then place the apples on a baking pan. In a small bowl whisk the egg and milk together and brush the mixture on top of the dough on the apples. Sprinkle the tops with cinnamon, then bake them for 25-30 minutes. If you and your friends/family don’t scarf all of the apples down, store them in the fridge!

My mouth is watering just writing this. Apple pie apples are calling my name!

Some people’s hair is more oily than others. For those of us with oily hair, we know what a nuisance it can be and how insecure it can make us feel. Your hair type and the habits you keep can really impact how quickly it gets oily, so here are a few tips on how to keep the oil at bay as long as possible.

  1. Wash your hair less: I know it sounds crazy, but it is true. Your scalp is stripped of it’s natural oils when you wash it so it has to work overtime to produce more oils to keep your scalp healthy, causing them to overproduce. Washing every other day or k2-_58f0fc6c-3aae-4f3b-bc0f-8b25b94f9ae3.v1every few days can really help reduce your scalp’s oil production.
  2. Concentrate conditioner on the ends: Putting conditioner all over your hair can totally weight it down and cause oily roots, so concentrate conditioner from the middle to the end of your hair shaft.
  3. Invest in dry shampoo: I love dry shampoo. Like I LOVE it. It sucks the oil from your roots and leaves you with fresh smelling locks.
  4. Avoid touching your hair: Because your fingertips and face both produce oil that can easily be transferred to your hair, so avoid touching your hair. Also avoid hair styles where your hair is touching your face.
  5. Don’t straighten your hair too much: When you straighten your hair it lies close to your head, and the closer to your head it lies the closer it is to coming in contact with oil.

That dreaded time of the year where all of us have to wake up early and get back into a routine is here again. While I don"t necessarily love school, I do try to make the best of it!  I wanted to share a couple tips to help chase away the blues whether they’re school related or not!

Our minds tend to wander and often times that leads to worry. Fear of the unknown can make us anxious, especially when starting a new year of school. I"ve recently read a book that talks aboutChelsea Crockett - Worry Quote taking control of your mind and thinking on purpose.  You can start by thinking with a grateful heart. As soon as your mind starts to drift to negativity or worry, change the channel and think of good things about the situation. It really works!

If your mind is busy thinking about the things you’re thankful for there won’t be room for worry or sadness. I’m a firm believer that positivity is the key to almost anything in life. So… you can start there and then think with a purpose and plan. Hopefully, your blues will be washed away!

Have you ever dropped your phone in water?! It’s the worst! It’s easy to quickly grab your phone, run around in a panic looking for a solution, and end up making the damage worse. My phone is my life (okay, dramatic, but you know what I mean) so ruining it in an accidental water run-in is not an option! Recently, my phone almost fell in my hot tub, so I looked up the best ways to save a water damaged phone. Check it out!Chelsea Crockett- phone in rice

  1. If you drop your phone in water, DO NOT press any buttons to see if your phone works. Water will run under the buttons!
  2. If your phone has a case, battery pack, and/or SIM card, remove them immediately! Dry all with a towel.
  3. Sounds crazy, but if water gets in the speaker or battery area, use a straw to try to suck out any excess liquid!
  4. Rice is your best friend! Submerge your phone in a bag of dry rice to suck out any water that’s on the inside of your phone. Leave it in the rice for 24 hours.
  5. After you’ve completed steps 1-4, turn your phone on and wish for the best!

While these steps don’t revive all phones, it’s worth the try! I hope I’ve helped some of you save your phone!

During the summer months I am always on the go, which means I eat things that are easy to make and quick go grab. saladUnfortunately, usually foods that are quick and easy are ones that aren"t very good for you, such as fast food. One way to stay healthy on the go is to have a salad in a jar ready to go! Here is how to build your perfect on the go snack- salad in a jar!

For the first layer of your salad, you want to put the dresing. Then, as the second layer, you want to layer your protein and hearty toppings, like beans, carrots, bell peppers, or chickpeas. The next layer is your lighter toppings, like quinoa, seeds, tomatoes, nuts, or strawberries. The last layer is your leafy portion, so that is your lettuce, spinach, or mixed greens. The perfect salad contains all of those layers, and your handy dandy salad in the jar is the ultamate “fast food.”

Keep a couple jars in your fridge ready to go at all times so instead of driving through Mickey D’s when you are in a pinch, you can just grab a salad from the fridge and go!

Now, it is common knowledge that I am not yet a college-goer. But, I will be in one very short year, AND I have a ton of friends who are in the college-sphere, so think I have a pretty good idea what it is like. My college friends are always trying to give me tips about when I go to college so that I can be the best little college freshmen I can be. One BIG tips they gave me was to stay healthy when I go to college, and here are the tips they gave me on how to do so.

  1. Have healthy dorm room munchies on hand: One easy way to avoid the feared freshmen 15 is to have healthy snacks 8659c050bba411ffa9f8865262ca3f2b-620x610around. When you are sitting in your room studying or hanging out with friends or have just had a stressful day, it is easy to reach for some comfort food. Keeping HEALTHY comfort food around can help keep you on track to keeping your freshmen 15 at bay.

  2. Get that 8 hours in: Sleep, for heavens sake! I know that college is about having fun and making friends, but sacrificing sleep is a big nono. Lack of sleep can cause you to gain weight, break out, get bad grades, and just be all around miserable. Plus, sleeping through stats is not an option!

  3. Don’t get lazy: Most colleges have really nice work out facilities, so USE THEM! Grab your roommate or a new friend you met in art class and hit the gym. Most people gain weight in college because they reduce their sleep and exercise and raise the amount of food they intake. Don’t be that girl!

Summer is so close I can almost taste it… that is the endless amount of ice cream and popsicles I’m going to eat! Oops! I searched on Pinterest for a recipe that would give me a great tasting popsicle that wouldn’t make me feel guilty after eating it. Soooo… here is an amazing recipe that you can easily make at home!

First, you’ll need to purchase a popsicle mold for your treats to freeze in. Then, while you’re at the store, pick up your favorite kind of yogurt Chelsea Crockett - Berry Popsicles(it can even be Greek!). I suggest a simple vanilla, low-fat kind. It’s healthier and you won’t have to worry about the taste of your fruits clashing with it. Next, grab about three different types of fruits. The recipe on Pinterest calls for strawberries, kiwis, and blueberries, but you can substitute something out for any of them!

Lastly, slightly fill your molds with a little yogurt and slide down whatever fruits you want in each. Let them freeze for a few hours (I prefer overnight) and then you can dig in! You can even serve them with granola for some extra flavor!

Sometimes I feel like no matter how much I run, my stubborn belly fat just won’t go away! If you cut out foods that are high in fat and incorporate these tips into your next run, you can kiss that belly fat goodbye!

  1. Mix up your pace: Interval workouts are a surefire way to boost your metabolism. Instead of running at one set pace for your whole workout, alternate between running at a fast pace for about a minute and then running at a slow pace for 2 and a half minutes.images (3)

  2. Turn up the time: Just doing crunches wont wittle your waist away. You have to put the work and the time in! Every 5 minutes of running at a ten minute mile pace burns about 45 calories, so think about that during your next run and it will motivate you to go just a bit longer!

  3. Kick up your knees: One way to strengthen your core is to do one minute intervals where you run with high knees. Concentrate on using your abs rather than your leg muscles and get those knees as high as you can!

  1. Beach waves: I curl my hair one day, wear it curly, sleep on it, and then wear the same curls the next say. Curl some beachy waves into your hair and then mess them up so you can rock the messy look for two days in a row!

  2. Dry shampoo: Spray some dry shampoo onto your roots and the crown of your hair and let it sit while you brush your teeth and put your makeup on. Then brush it with your fingers and work the shampoo in until you cannot see it any more. Tease your crown, and put a few loose curls in with a curling iron.

  3. Loose side braid: The windswept, sloppy look is so in right now, and thank goodness it is! Loosly braid your hair into a messy side braid to keep it out of your face all day.

  4. Half up half down: Grab a handful of bobby pins and twist the top half of your hair near the crown into a small bun. Pin your baby bun, and boom, adorable updoo.

As most of you know, I live in a small town in Illinois. One of my favorite things to do in the summer is to go to all of the homecoming fairs and parades in my town and all of the small towns surrounding mine. My friends and I love to go together and ride the rides and eat all of the delicious food, especially funnel cakes! Funnel cakes are the ultimate summer fair snack. Here is how to make your very own funnel cake fries at home! These treats are a bite size twist on your everyday funnel cake.

  • Funnel cake mix

  • 3-4 cups canola oil

  • Marshmallow crème for dipping


Make the funnel cake mix per the directions on the box. Once you have a smooth batter, pour it into an empty catchup bottle for piping. Add an inch of oil to a large pot and heat it to 350 degrees. Pipe the batter in long straight lines into the oil and let it fry until it is golden, which should take around 30-60 seconds per side. Remove them from the oil and place them on a plate. Sprinkle them with powdered sugar while they are still hot. If you want, you can dip them in marshmallow crème! So yummy.

Raise your hand if you love Milkey Way bars. Okay, I am just going to imagine a lot of your hands are raised! I loooove Milkey Way candy bars. They are the perfect balance of chocolate, caramel, and fluff! Here is how to make the most marvelous Milkey Way brownies you will ever have!

Ingredients:

  • 1 package of brownie mixScreen Shot 2013-07-15 at 8.36.44 AM2
  • For the chocolate fluff layer:
    • 1 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
    • 1 cup marshmallow crème
    • 1 ½ tbsp. heavy cream
  • Caramel layer:
    • 8 ounces of caramels
    • 1 ½ tbsp. cream

Preheat your oven to 350°. Line an 8 x 8 pan with foil and then make the brownie mix as the box instructs. Bake 25-30 minutes or until brownies begin to pull away from sides of pan. Let them cool completely while making the fluff. Melt the chocolate chips in the microwave with the cream. Once it is smooth, stir in the marshmallow crème until it is well combined and then spread it over the cooled brownies. Next make the caramel layer by melting the caramels with the cream in the microwave and then spread it over the fluff layer. Make the chocolate topping by melting chocolate chips with oil in the microwave until it is smooth and then spread it over the caramel layer.  Chill the brownies for about 2 hours, and then use a knife that has been heated with hot water to cut the frozen brownies.

Okay so how delicious do these sound?! I am making them asap.

  1. Liquid foundation: Liquid foundation gives you tons of color, finish, and coverage options! If you want a versatile foundation, then liquid is the way to go.
  2. Tinted moisturizer: If you have dry skin with little or no blemishes to cover then you are a tinted moisturizer girl. This gives you a hint of moisture, a bit of color, and a smidge of coverage.

School is here (gross!), but there are some advantages! What could possibly be the advantages of going back to school? I am glad you asked. Cute clothes, of course! Getting to rock your signature style to school is definitely a plus. I look forward to school for the sole purpose of getting to dress up! 1.     Preppy pairs: The first back to school trend is preppy. Pair a blue buttton down, sleeves rolled up, with a colored pair of shorts and a brown leather belt to keep it classy! I love outfits like this because they are polished and pretty.

2.     Printed Pants: Printed pants, yaassss! Printed pants are all the rage right now. These pants are so comfy it should be a crime. Seriously! Pair them with a simple top and you will be in business.

3.     Striped Shirts: Anything nautical is a thumbs up in my book! That is why you can never have too many striped shirts. Classic boatneck striped shirts look great with dark denim, florals, and everything in between!

4.     Maxi Skirts: We all know I have an undying love for maxi skirts. These are another great comfy, casual back-to-school piece.

Summer is almost over, but that doesn’t mean you have to stop drinking fruity drinks and doing fun things! Here is one such drink, a drink that will make you want summer to last all year long…Watermelon pineapple lemonade!

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup sugarwatermelon pineapple
  • 3 cups watermelon juice
  • 1 cup lemon juice
  • 1 cup pineapple juice

To make the simple syrup, combine sugar and 1/2 cup water in a medium saucepan over medium heat, stirring until the sugar has dissolved. After letting it cool, whisk it in a large pitcher with watermelon juice, lemon juice, pineapple juice and 5 cups of water. You can find watermelon and pineapple juice at your local grocery store! Place the mixture in the fridge until it is chilled. Serve this drink over ice for a fruity, refreshing summer indulgence!

AH INSIDERS!! BeautyCon LA was absolutely dreamy and I can’t wait to tell you about it! I was so excited to get to hug so many of you in person!! The smiles I saw made what I do so worth it!

The LA weekend started off with the Teen Vogue and Neutrogena party with a bunch of my beauty babes. We live all over the U.S., so getting to hang out with some of my fav YouTube friends is always a blast! I love soaking in every moment. The next morning I headed over to the AwesomenessTV Studios to discuss some secret projects *wink, wink*! Once the meetings were over, I got some time to soak in the Santa Monica sun with Lexi, Ana, Rachel, and my family! Now that the day was over, I was pretty excited to get to bed after a long day (who doesn’t love a nice and fluffy hotel bed?). Let’s just say sleeping was a little difficult with how excited I was. Next stop? BEAUTYCON!Chelsea Crockett- BeautyCon LA

Pulling up to BeautyCon gave me a rush of excitement! I couldn’t wait to get to my meet and greet to see you all. When I saw how many of you were lined up I couldn’t believe my eyes! You guys are incredible!! I wish I could’ve meet and talked to each and every one of you! Thank you for being the high light of my day! I also had a panel later in the day with Barbie! It was so fun to meet new faces, including Madison Pettis (like whaaaat?!), and I love hearing all the amazing girls talk about their journey! I was excited when my website got brought up at the panel. My team and I put so much work in it, which was so rewarding to talk about!

I could talk about my BeautyCon LA experience forever! If I had to sum up the weekend in two words it would be: THANK YOU! The Pear Shape: If you have this body type then you have curvy hips and thighs but a smaller midsection, like Beyoncé! The key is to pick a suit that balances your proportions. Look for bottoms that have a skirt and will accentuate your curves without exaggerating them. Pick a top that draws the eyes upwards instead of down!

Right now, Greek yogurt is all the rage, and rightfully so! It is great for you. Want to give your breakfast a powerful protein punch that will keep you full all morning long? Here is a healthy spin on everyone’s favorite breakfast indulgence…

 

Ingredients:

  • 1½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons of baking powder
  • 2 tablespoons sugarGreekYogurtPancakesDash-675x675
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • ¾ cup vanilla Greek yogurt
  • ¾ cup milk

 

Preheat a pan or griddle to medium heat. Whisk together flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt. In another bowl, mix oil, eggs, vanilla, and Greek yogurt. Add the dry ingredients to wet ingredients and stir. Pour in the milk until all ingredients are combined. Grease griddle and pour ¼ - ⅓ cup batter onto the griddle. Allow them to cook for about 2 minutes or until edges begin to look "dry" and bubbles form in the batter. Use a thin spatula to flip the pancake over and allow to cook for a mother minute. Stack your finished pancakes on a plate and then cook the rest of the batter. Top pancakes with your favorite toppings like syrup, powdered sugar, honey, and fruit.

I have posted a bunch of s’mores recipes lately…but can you blame me? They are just so good! There are so many awesome variations! This one might be my fav because it is the least messy of the recipes! Here is how to make your very own s’mores in a bag.

Ingredients:

  • Marshmallows
  • Chocolate chips
  • Bagged cookies, like Teddy Grahams or animal crackersfun-camping-idea-and-snack

Pick out your preferred cookies. Then pour the chocolate chips in the bag and roast your marshmallow. I am a “slightly burned” kinda gal. After you have roasted the marshmallow to perfection, smush the marshmallow into the bag and mix it all up with the cookies and chocolate! I eat my portable s’mores with a fork, it is the easiest/cleanest way to enjoy them!

These are the perfect bonfire/summer night snack!

How many of you have a Clarisonic or a similar type of facial cleansing brush? I have one and I looove it. I love how clean my face feels after I use it! On the other hand, you know all of that dirty stuff that the brush scrubs off? It goes into the brush, so that means it needs to be cleaned out or else you are just rubbing dirt all around your face! Here is how to clean your brush to keep your face nice and healthy. 
You need: 
 
- Baby shampoopro
-a small container
- 1/4 cup of water
-1/4 cup of hydrogen peroxide
 
Use a dime size amount of baby shampoo to clean your brush and use circular motions to rub it against the palm of your hand. Rinse well with water. Next, pour 1/4 cup of water and 1/4 cup of peroxide into a glass. Stir it well abd place your brush head into the glass and let it soak there for about 15-30 minutes. Don"t leave it in the solution too long or it will ruin the bristles!

Okay so I think everyone will agree with me when I say that warm cookies and milk is the most delicious combination on the planet. The warm gooey chocolate, the cool creamy milk, mmmmmm I am getting hungry just thinking about it! Here is a genius way to get your cookies and milk fix..Make cookie cups! 

Ingredients: 
1 cup shortening
1/3 cup granulated sugarMilk-Cookie-Shots-Recipe
1/2 cup light-brown sugar
1 large egg yolk
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour, sifted
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup mini chocolate chips

- Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease the molds of a popover pan. In a big bowl, cream together the shortening and brown and granulated sugars. Add the egg yolk and vanilla extract, and mix until completely incorporated. Slowly add the flour and salt, and mix until completely incorporated. Add the mini chocolate chips, and mix together until evenly distributed. The dough will be a little crumbly! 

- Form the cookie cups inside the molds, making the walls of the cookie cups about 1/4 inch thick. Cool for 20 to 30 minutes before baking. Bake for about 20 minutes or until the cookies just start to brown. Remove from the oven and let them cool completely.

- After they have cooled, pour some milk into them and get ready to enjoy a totally tantalizing treat! These are a perfect girls night/cook dinner for your boyfriend night desserts!

Being a sibling, let alone a sister, can be tough! Always bickering over who has to take out the trash or who has to clean the dishes. Although it’s great having a sister, we can often find things to fight about (which I think anyone who has a sister can understand!). There are three big struggles every pair of sisters argues over (I know this from personal experience), and I’m here to help!

  1. Sharing clothes… the great debate. Nine times out of ten, this is what my sister and I are arguing over! She steals my shirt, I forget to put hers back, she spills her drink on my new dress… the list goes on and on. To avoid this, simply ask for permission a couple hours before you get ready. Also, put a reminder on your iPhone to put back her shirt/dress around the time you’ll be getting home. And if you have the misfortune of spilling something on her new favorite skirt, offer to buy her a new one!
  2. My sister has her license now, but before that I had to drive her everywhere! I really didn’t mind but there were a few times that brought up some conflict. The best way to go about this is asking your sis a day or so before if she has plans and needs to arrange a ride. That way she’ll know early enough so if you can’t, she’ll have plenty of time to find an alternate!
  3. Lastly, chores often bring up some bickering between us! You might ask your sister to do the dishes for you one night and all kind of problems come up! The easiest way to go about this is making a schedule for the two of you. It might sound cliché but it really works!

Where I live the temperature has been in the upper nineties, and even the 100’s these past few weeks. Needless to say, we are all sweating our brains out! If you work in an office or a professional setting it can be hard to dress for work when you know that you have to be professional all whilst trying not to die of heat stroke. There are a few things you should avoid wearing to work in the summer, even though it may be tempting! But, no matter enticing it may be to wear them, you want to stay appropriate and professional. Here are 5 things you should never wear to work in the summer.

 

1. STRAPLESS ANYTHING

Showing your shoulders in a work setting just isn’t professional, no matter how cute that strapless dress or tank top is. Layer a blazer over it to make it more work appropriate. Plus, adding a blazer will jazz up your outfit!

2. FLIP FLOPS

Flip flops are best saved for the beach or the pool, not for work! Yes, they may have rhinestones on the straps, but that doesn’t make them any more work appropriate. Opt for a pair of flats instead!

3. SHORT SKIRTS/DRESSES

If you cannot bend down without fear of flashing your co-workers, then your dress or skirt is too short! Keep it classy. I know you want to show off your killer legs, but save that for a night out with your friends!

Yes, sheer fabrics allow your skin to breathe and keep your body cool in the hot weather, but they are not work appropriate. If you can see bra straps or underwear through your clothes, it should be a no-go!

5. OVERSIZED CLOTHES

Oversized clothes are all the rage right now, but they are not work wear! You want to look clean cut and classy, not frumpy. Save your comfy oversized ensembles for outings with friends or family!

Who says you have to have a boyfriend to make you happy? So many girls find their self-worth and happiness through the guys they date. I want to tell you that the single life is a GOOD life! Just because you don’t have a boy toy doesn’t mean you aren’t pretty or likeable, it just means God has bigger plans for you! Here are a few ways to be happily single.

  1. Enjoy your independence: When you have a boyfriend you aren’t just thinking of yourself anymore because your actions impact both of you. When you are single, you have so much freedom! Want to go out with friends Friday night? DO it! You won’t have a boyfriend competing for your attention! Enjoy this time with your girlfriends, because before long you will all be going off to college and growing apart as you grow up.FullSizeRender (8)
  2. Figure YOU out: These teenage years are crucial for us teenage girls! These are the years where we are figuring out who we are and what we are all about. Sometimes having a boyfriend can cause us to put our thoughts/feelings on the back burner and focus more on his. Be confident and sure of yourself and who you are!
  3. Trust God’s timing: I don’t stress about being single because I know that it is just God preparing the perfect guy for me. Plus, he is preparing ME for the perfect guy! You may feel ready to meet your prince charming, but God may have other plans. Don’t stress, just enjoy life where God has you. The perfect guy will come along when you least expect it. 

So, if you are single, just enjoy it! I know I do!

Tattoos are very trendy right now. Although I can appreciate a pretty tattoo, I don’t want one myself. Just a little too permanent for me! I love that there are temporary options for people like me who don’t want to fully commit to a tattoo! Here are a few of my favorite temporary tattoo methods that will allow you to express yourself in a non-permanent way!

Flash tattoos: Flash tattoos are all the rage recently! They are metallic temporary tattoos that come in a variety of shapes and patterns. I like to wear them to concerts or out with friends when I want to feel edgy or to add some uniqueness to my ensemble! Henna: I love henna tattoos because they last a lot longer than flash tattoos and other temporary tattoos and you can make super fun patterns with them! I love how boho I feel when I have a trendy henna tattoo.

DIY tattoos: There are also cool diy temporary tattoos like the “Sharpie and hairspray” one! Draw your desired design onto your skin with a Sharpie. Wait for the marker to dry completely and then rub baby powder onto the design. Spray the tattoo with hairspray and you are all set!

I LOVE earrings and rings!  Unfortunately, they’re so little that they’re easy to lose and get mixed up!  I have so many mismatched pairs of earrings that I don’t know what to do with!  I decided it was time to get organized and found a great tutorial on how to make your own earring and ring case holder! It’s super simple and can be done in under an hour!  Check it out!Chelsea Crockett- DIY ring holder

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • A wooden box
  • Fleece
  • Scissors
  • Paint/paint brush (optional)

I found a cute wooden box with a lid at Michael’s for fairly cheap and got acrylic paint that matched my room! I started off by painting the entire box.  While I let it dry, I began preparing the fleece.  Cut a large rectangle or square piece of fleece the length of your box (depending on its shape).  Roll each piece of cloth into a tight, cushiony roll (try to cut each piece of cloth the same size).  Tightly pack each roll of fleece into the jewelry box, once it’s dry of course, until the entire box is full.  Now you’ve got yourself your own DIY jewelry holder!  Just place your rings and studs in between each piece of fleece.  Hope you enjoy it!

1. Around your neck: Fold the bandana diagonally and then roll it like a snake. Then tie it around your neck in the front for a throwback, classic look. Bandana6

2. As a hair accessory: Give your look a vintage flair by tying the bandada under your hair and using it as a headband! Wear the knot on the top of your head for a cute accent. You can also braid a bandana into your hair to add volume and pazazz to your braid! 
3. As a handbag accessory: Wrap a bandana around the handle of your handbag and knot both ends. This gives your handbag some personality!

For those of us that watch what we eat, we know that dieting can be tough. There are all sorts of books, apps, websites, etc. that give plans and tips on how you should be eating when trying to stay healthy. There are so many myths and misheard tips on dieting and I’m here to clear them up!

  • “Calorie count is the only thing you should be worried about when looking for healthy foods.” FALSE! Yes, calories are definitely a good thing to keep in mind, but other factors like the amount of sodium and fats are super important.Chelsea Crockett - Healthy Eating
  • “If you’re trying to be healthy, avoid large amounts of protein.” FALSE! Too much of anything is always bad, but your body needs protein to function. People often avoid meat thinking it’s bad for them but truth is, it’s not as bad as everyone thinks!
  • “It’s okay to eat carbs, you need them for energy.” FALSE. Carbs do give you energy, but they should be avoided if you’re really trying to lose weight. You can get your energy elsewhere!
  • “The less you eat, the skinnier you’ll get.” FALSE. I often hear people trying to lose wait by barely eating or exclusively eating only fruits and vegetables. Your body needs food, especially protein and other nutrients/minerals. This tip is extremely important!

I love eating healthy, so I always keep these tips in mind. I hope I helped bust any myths you thought were true about healthy eating!

Love makes us do silly things, am I right? We say things, do things, and even try things we never imagined we would! Here are 10 signs you are head over heels, goo goo gaga, crazy about a guy!

1.  You actually start paying attention to sports so that you can converse with him. You want to impress him and show you what a sports-savvy girl you are!

2. You let him have the last bite of your favorite dessert. And you did it with a smile on your face!

3. You keep it cool on social media. When you were younger and you got a boyfriend you gushed and bragged to all your friends, but now you know that relationships are between 2 people, not between 500 of your Facebook friends AND you.
