Things to Do Instead of Checking your Phone

Things to Do Instead of Checking your Phone
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/phone-table2.jpg

How many times a day do you check your phone? I’m scared to count. I am afraid to know how much time I waste on it! Think of everything you could do with your time instead of checking your phone. Here are 10 things to do instead of checking Instagram for the 15th time today.

  1. Start a to-do list
  2. Go on a run
  3. Clean your room. Clean the kitchen. Clean the bathroom. Go on a cleaning spree!
  4. Take a napdownload (6)
  5. Go to a coffee shop, buy a hot cuppa joe, read a book, and people watch
  6. Make a bucket list
  7. Cook yummy things for yourself, or your friends
  8. Clean out your closet
  9. Go through old pictures of you and your bffs during your “awkward phase”
  10. Go pick up your best friend and go on a walk together and talk about that awkward phase mentioned above.

Keeping your phone at arm’s length and checking it only every so often can leave so much free time open! Try it and see how much more time you have during your day.

XOXO, Chels

Time Saving Beauty Tips

Time Saving Beauty Tips
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/Chelsesa-Crockett-time-saving-beauty-tips.jpg

Lets face it. We all want to look beautiful every day (especially right when we wake up), but sometimes it is hard to find the time. I am always looking for ways to save time on my beauty routine so I can get an extra few minutes of shut eye in the morning. 😉 Here are tips that have helped me out over the years!

  1. Mix a little highlighter with your foundation: By doing this your skin will look fresh and glowing. Such a simple fix to tired download (4)looking skin!
  2. Shave with baby oil: Instead of reaching for shaving cream when you are shaving, grab some baby oil! It keeps your legs smoother for longer, and it helps your razor last longer, aka saving you time in the long run.
  3. Double time: Kill two birds with one stone by lining your eyes and curling your eyelashes at the same time. Just put eyeliner on the curler and boom bam.
  4. Tame your frizzies: Spray a little hairspray on a toothbrush, then use the brush to calm your flyaway hairs. Your hair will look neater and like you spent tons of time on your hair when you really did it in a jiff.

Hopefully these tips save you some time!

XOXO, Chels

How to Get a Better Night"s Sleep

How to Get a Better Night"s Sleep
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/Chelsea-crockett-how-to-get-a-better-nights-sleep-.jpg

Lately I have been having issues with getting a good 8 hours of sleep in. Between school, church activities, school, filming and editing, and spending time with friends, I have a hard time getting my 8 hours in! Even though that is the case, I know how important a good night’s sleep is, and I try to take naps when I can to balance out my sleep schedule. Here are 3 ways you can get the most out of your sleep so you can have enough energy to conquer the world!

  1. The best time to nap is between 1-3 pm: Studies say that you are the most awake during the day between 7-9 a.m., and your alertness levels start to drop after 11 a.m. between 1 and 3 p.m. you are at the lowest energy level if your whole day. That is why this is the best time to take a quick nap! Now I know that you are probably in school during this time, but on breaks and weekends keep this in mind!images (1)
  2. Drink coffee before your nap: That sounds a little backwards, right? Caffine takes 20 minutes to start waking you up, so drinking a cup of joe right before you sleep will mean it kicks in right around when you wake up. This helps with that groggy “where am I and what year is it” feeling right after you wake up!
  3. Cut down the screen time: An hour or two before bed, it is important to limit the amount of time you are looking at your phone and the TV. The blue light that is given off from those devices has been shown to suppress the production of melatonin, which is what your body produces to help you sleep. If you are on your phone or watching tv before bed, dim the screen as much as you can to reduce that blue glow.

Hopefully these tips help you catch some zzzz’s.

XOXO, Chels

Winter Suede Style

Winter Suede Style
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/chelsea-crockett-winter-suede-style-.jpg

I recently bought a suede dress from Target, and that is when my love for suede fashion was born. There are so many different ways to wear suede this winter, whether it is in dress, skirt, jacket, handbag, or even shoe form! Suede is a sort of retro fabric that can make any outfit feel vintage and chic. Here are my favorite ways to style suede!suede

  1. Skirts: A suede skirt is so versitile. You can wear it casually with tights, flat booties, and a sweater, or you can dress it up with a felt hat and a silky blouse! I love this feminine flare on suede. The same goes for suede dresses. They are effortlessly fashionable. You can also wear it with a button-up long sleeve shirt to make an easy, cute, casual outfit.
  2. Jackets: Want a western flare? Throw on a suede jacket. This will give any outfit a sort of western vibe. It can also spruce up a simple outfit like, say, black jeans and a simple white tee.
  3. Boots: I love a good pair of suede booties. They go with just about anything and come in so many shades! Suede wedges are also a weakness of mine. They are perfect winter accessories!

What is your favorite way to wear suede this season?

Tips for Gals Who Struggle with Eyeshadow

Tips for Gals Who Struggle with Eyeshadow
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/chelsea-crockett-Tips-for-Gals-Who-Struggle-with-Eyeshadow1.jpg

Eyeshadow can be a pretty intimidating. You don’t want to put it on two dark, you don’t want to put it on so light that you cannot tell you’re even wearing any, and you don’t want to fail at shading that smoky eye just right! Here are a few tips from the eyeshadow pros to help my eyeshadow-challenged ladies.

  1. Know your eye shape: Learning how to shade eyeshadow is so much easier when you know your eye shape. It helps you figure out what color goes where!
  2. Know your eyeshadow brushes: Know your tools! There are brushes that are better for blending, ones that are more for base colors, and many more! Know what they are and how to use them.5489e46db6858_-_rbk-applying-eyeshadow-0911-msc
  3. Know your preferred formula: There are three main eyeshadow formulas: cream, loose, and pressed. Cream eyeshadows work best as a base layer color for powder eyeshadow, loose eyeshadows are best if you want a pigmented color, and pressed is the most common type of eyeshadow because they blend easily and aren’t that messy.
  4. Priming is important!: Using eyeshadow primer is super important. It keeps it from creasing or wearing off as the day goes on. It will also make your eyeshadow colors look brighter!

Eyeshadow is so much fun to experiment with! Hopefully these tips help you make the most of your makeup.

XOXO, Chels

Turn Any Scarf into a Vest!

Turn Any Scarf into a Vest!
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/chelsea-crockett-turn-a-scarf-into-a-vest-.jpg

I have gobs and gobs of scarves. I just love a cute scarf! When I see one I like I cannot resist snatching it up. I have to get creative when I wear them so that I can make sure they each get a turn. One way? I wear them as a vest! This may sound weird, but trust me, it is cute. Vests are a great way to accessorize and spruce up a boring outfit. Here is how to turn your favorite scarf into a trendy vest in seconds.

  1. Grab your favorite large scarf.vest
  2. Open it up so it is one giant square, and then fold it in half.
  3. Tie 3 corners into a knot. This creates arm holes!
  4. You’re done! You just made a cute vest out

Become a Concealer Master

Become a Concealer Master
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/concealer-1.jpg

Concealer is a life-saver, but only if you know how to use it. It took me a while to master the art of concealer! Finding the right color for you can be tricky, plus applying it the right way is a mystery to most! Here are my top 5 tips on everything concealer related.

  1. Color is key: There are shades of concealer that will help neutralize your specific skin tone! If you have dark purple spots around your eyes, use red concealer to cover them up and neutralize the dark circles. To find what concealer color works best for you, look at the undertone of your under eye circles.
  2. Different concealer formulas work better on different parts of your face: You may need a few different concealers in different colors to help cover everything. You can use a concealer that is skin tone, but having the right formula and color for the job makes a huge difference.concealer
  3. When to apply: Apply concealer after foundation to prevent brushing the concealer away. It also helps you use less concealer! Top it all off with powder.
  4. Let your concealer set: Let your concealer “cook” or melt onto your face for a few minutes. Your body heat will warm it up, and it may change color or texture a bit. After it has melted a bit, then you can work with it and blend it into your foundation.
  5. If you like to keep things simple: If you are more of a “do the minimum” makeup kind of person, just apply concealer under your eyes, at the corners of your mouth, and next to your nose. It will help you camouflage redness or darkness in those areas quick as a flash!

Hopefully these tips help you conceal to your heart’s desire!

XOXO, Chels

Cardigan Do"s and Don"ts

Cardigan Do"s and Don"ts
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/Chelea-Crockett-Cardigan-dos-and-donts.jpg

Cardigans are a staple in every girl’s closet. We all have at least one or two! They come in all shapes and size, and in all prints and patterns! Some cardigans fit certain body types better than others, and some fit outfits better than others! Today we tackle the cardigan conundrum. Here is a guide to the do’s and dont’s of cardigans, including the best cardigan for your body type…and outfit!

  1. Your classic, waist-length cardigan: This is the most common cardigan of all. The “don’t” of these cardigans is NOT to wear them with long tops! The contrast in lengths is not crazy flattering. It can give your body a funky looking shape. DO wear them with fitted dresses, or high-waisted skirts or pants. The hem of the cardigan should not be more than a few inches longer than the waist band of your bottoms.images
  2. The oversized cardigan: Patterned oversized cardis can be hard to style sometimes. The “don’t” for this sweater is to wear loose-fitting pants or bottoms with it. It can make you look bulkey and wide, and I don’t think that is a look you’re going for. The DO is to wear skinny skinny skiiiiinny jeans or leggings. Staying slim on the bottom keeps the baggy top in balance!
  3. The wrap cardigan: I love wrap cardigans! They are a little less bulky and more fitted than the cardigans above, but are still drapey and flowy. Don’t wear wrap cardigans with loose bottoms like we mentioned above. The proportions may be off! DO wear these with classy jeans or pants that flatter your figure.

Cardigans are a classy way to stay warm in the winter!

Athletic Streetwear

Athletic Streetwear
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/Chelsea-Crockett-Athletic-Streetwear.jpg

Athletic wear makes up a big part of my wardrobe. Whether I’m actually working out or just lounging around, I love how casual and easy it is to throw on. Athletic streetwear is a growing trend that is not only comfortable but stylish too! What more could a girl want? If you’re a little confused on what I mean, keep on reading :)!

If you have a Tumblr, I’m sure you’ve scrolled passed a pair of vintage white Adidas shoes once or twice.Chelsea Crockett - Adidas Jacket They’re so popular that they’re hard to even find in stores or online. Obviously you have to like the look to rock them because they’re definitely unique! Another Adidas retro piece is their vintage jacket like the one on the right. You can find them in black and white or sometimes even in light pink! So cute!

Sweatshirt dresses, oversized jersey tees, and joggers are all different streetwear pieces you can pair with accessories and the right shoes. You can dress them up or dress them down. One way you can accessorize is with hats. I’ve always been a hat fan and now I can benefit from it by pairing them with causal streetwear. There’s tons of different outfits you can come up with. Search on Tumblr and Pinterest for some inspiration! They won’t disappoint :).

Do you like this style? Let me know below!

Save Your Hair from Exercise Damage

Save Your Hair from Exercise Damage
https://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/chelsea-crockett-Save-Your-Hair-from-Exercise-Damage-.jpg

You know those girls that walk out of the gym with perfect hair? Like, not one strand is out of place or frizzy (ahem, Taylor Swift)? I envy them. After I work out, my hair is a sweaty mess! Little did I know that working out/going to the gym can cause some serious hair damage. Now, don’t let that stop you from kicking butt in your next workout, we just need to learn how to treat our hair while, before, and after we exercise. This will do our hair a favor in the long run.

  1. Prep your hair before pumping iron: It may seem silly to spend time on your hair before you work out, I mean, it’s going to get messed up anyway. Right? But, spending a few seconds on your mane pre-workout is a must if you want great post-workout locks. Use dry shampoo on your roots before you work out to prevent excess moisture in your hair from sweat.bella-reverse-french-braid
  2. Too-tight ponytail: If your ponytail too tight it can be damaging your hair! Plus they can make dents in it and if you want to style it afterwards you can pretty much forget it. Try a loose, high bun for post-workout volume, or try a fishtail or another type of braid for loose waves after you take it out.
  3. Protect yo-self: If you work out outside, you need to protect your scalp from the sun. Scalp sunburns= the least fun you will ever have. My advice is to wear a cute running hat or ball cap when you exercise outside. Functional AND cute. Also, be gentle when brushing your hair post-workout. It can get pretty tangled when you’re getting your sweat on, so go easy on it to prevent damage.

If your goal is long, healthy hair, keep these tips in mind the next time you head to the gym.

XOXO, Chels

5 Products and Activities for Unwinding & Relieving Stress
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/Chelsae-Crockett-Stress-Relief.jpg

When I see the words “stress relief” on a product, I’m automatically drawn in. Under piles of homework, hours of practice, and several shifts of work… yikes! We could use some unwinding. I’ve discovered a few things that work to relive stress and anxiety that are all they actually say they are. Here are my 5 faves!

  1. Bath products are an amazing way to unwind. Just pop in a bath bomb and hop into the tub. You can sit back, smell the scents, and relax in the hot water. Lavender scents and spearmint are excellent anti stressors, so make those your top choices!Chelsea Crockett - Stress Relief Lotion
  2. Citrus fruits are another way to help calm your nerves. Apparently, eating and/or smelling them prevents a spike in anxiety reducing cortisol. They are called Vitamin C stress busters!
  3. Outdoor exercise is an excellent way to relieve your stress. Research suggests that being in nature helps you to get-up-and-go and reduces exhaustion. So take a bike ride or go for a jog…. it’ll help get your energy levels up!
  4. At Bath & Body Works, you can find Stress Relief Aromatherapy lotion. With its variety of scents from spearmint to tangerine, I love applying it after I get out of the shower or before I go to sleep not only to vanish away the stress but to smell good too!
  5. Meditation is proven to reduce stress and negative emotions. Try taking a yoga class or do it by yourself by dimming the lights and setting a soothing atmosphere. Get comfortable and watch the stress melt away.

I could always use more ways to relax and unwind. Let me know below what your go-to product or activity for stress relief is below!

How to Handle Jealousy in your Relationship

How to Handle Jealousy in your Relationship
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/jealousy-1.jpg

When you are in a relationship, are you a jealous person? Meaning, when you see your dude talking to another girl in class, does it make you feel possessive of him and maybe a bit mad at the other girl for talking to him? He’s yours after all, right? Wrong. Ladies, we need to keep our jealousy in check. Feeling a little jealousy is natural, but snooping his Instagram and checking his texts when he isn’t looking is NOT. That could ruin your relationship, plus it is just exhausting worrying about him talking to other girls. Here are 4 ways to help you become less of a jealous person.jealousy

  1. Be honest: Let your boyfriend know you that you have been feeling jealous. Open up to him! In healthy relationships, you two are a team! He should be open to hearing what is on your mind, and he should want to help you overcome these feelings and work with you on it.
  2. Ask friends for advice: Odds are, they have felt some jealousy themselves. Your gal pals will know how to be supportive and lend an ear to hear you out. They may even have some tips on what helped them overcome jealousy.
  3. Take a step back: Step back and look at your relationship. If time goes by and your feelings of jealousy don’t ease, your boyfriend might be the culprit. He may be acting certain ways that he shouldn’t with girls that make you suspicious or jealous. Your feelings of jealousy might not be your doing! Look at your relationship from another perspective and be honest with yourself on whether your relationship is still healthy and positive.
  4. Stop snooping: As girls, we are great social media stalkers. We can find out anything! But, once you start social media snooping on your bf, it is hard to stop. Stop playing detective! It isn’t healthy! You should be able to trust him and his behaviors and interactions on social media. If not? See step 3.

Jealousy is not a fun feeling! I hope this helps you overcome your jealousy, once you do you will feel so free!

XOXO, Chels

How to Recover from Failure

How to Recover from Failure
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/failure-1-1024x681.jpg

Failing is part of life, but no one said it has to be a fun part. It can make you feel depressed, inadequate, and can sometimes be embarrassing. Rejection is tough, and how you deal with it can really determine how successful and happy you are! Being resilient is such an important quality have. Resilience is the ability to take failure and rise above it! How do you get over failure and persevere through it? Here are 4 ways to be resilient.

  1. Don’t ignore your emotions: Looking at the bright side of a situation isn’t always realistic, especially when you are feeling like a failure. Let yourself feel the sad emotions, don’t try to push them down. Once you have allowed yourself to feel the negative emotions you leave room for the positive ones to take over!

Young depressed businessman sitting under white drawn trouble thought boxes

  2. Be realistically optimistic: Life isn’t always rainbows and butterflies, we all know that! Just know life has ups and downs and that life isn’t going to be easy all of the time. Keep a positive outlook on things, but also be realistic.
  3. Have a strong support system: This is so important. Always having a strong network of friends and family that support you is vital for when you come across hard times. They will be right there by your side when times get tough and will help you back up when you fall. They can build your happiness back up and make you feel more resilient!
  4. Be grateful: Appreciate all of the positive things in your life, take joy in your victories no matter how small they are! When you are positive even about the small things, the big things don’t seem so bad. Have an attitude of gratitude and be thankful for everything going RIGHT in life.

Life is tough, but you are tougher!

Beauty Sponge Maintenance 101

Beauty Sponge Maintenance 101
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Chelsea-crockett-beauty-sponge-maintenance-101.jpg

My Beautyblender is my best friend. It is a makeup sponge like no other! It helps my foundation go on smooth, airbrushed look that I totally love. There are other brands of makeup sponges just like the Beautyblender, too! Here is how to use your preferred makeup blending sponge to its fullest.

  1. Use the sponge damp: dampening the sponge before you use it to get that streak free, dewy finish we all dream of.
  2. Clean it often: Clean the sponge with cleanser every day to make sure it stays bacteria and mold free.blender 1
  3. Keep it out: Don’t store your sponge in a baggie or in a place with no air flow. It rarely happens, but it could get moldy! Storing it in a baggie will also cause bacteria to start growing.
  4. Replace after 3 months: After using your blender for more than 3 months it can start to rip or tear, and it can start to get yucky. Once the 3 months are up, you can use repurpose the blender into a stain remover, a sponge for nail art designs, or anything else creative you can think of!

Take these tips and use them when caring for your makeup blender so you can get the most benefits out of it!

Brow Color 101

Brow Color 101
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Chelsea-Crockett-Brow-Color-101.jpg

Brow maintenance is a mystery to me. How am I supposed to know what product works best for my brows? Is it brow pencils? Powder? Gel? Pens? It can be overwhelming! There are so many ways to keep your brows on fleek. Here is a mini guide to the basic ways to fill your brows!

  1. Brow powder: If you want a more subtle, softer look opt for brow powder or a matte eye shadow that is a little lighter than your brows. Use an angled brow brush to outline and fill your brows with the powder using gentle strokes.
  2. Brow pencil: This is the simplest way to shape and fill your brows. They come in many shades so you can find the perfect color to match your brows! If you use short, light strokes to fill your brows it will look perfectly natural.41TwhLB9HbL._SY300_
  3. Brow marker: This is the least popular method of shaping brows, but it still deserves a mention! Brow markers have the benefit of persistence- they stay on for hours and won’t smudge easily!
  4. Brow gel: If you have crazy unruly brows, use brow gel to tame and fill them. You can even use Vaseline to shape your brows if you already have dark thick ones.

Combine one or two of these methods to create the perfect brow routine for you! Get those eyebrows on fleek, girl!

XOXO, Chels

My Favorite Hair Advice

My Favorite Hair Advice
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/chelsea-crockett-my-favorite-hair-tips.jpg

As I have gotten older, my knowledge of everything hair-related has grown exponentially. Like, a ton. Being a beauty guru means getting the 411 on all of the beauty tips and tricks, so I have learned a few things along the way. Here are 5 of my favorite and most useful pieces of hair advice that I have ever gotten.

  1. Give your straightener a rest

More like give your hair a rest! As you all know, using hot tools on your hair is baaaaad for it. I know some girls who have straightened their hair so often it breaks off! Talk about split ends. Limit your hot-styling to a few days a week to spare your hair. Air dry your hair, let your natural curl or waves shine through, and experiment with hair 1fun ways to pull it back!

  1. It’s only hair

That is the mantra I kept repeating to myself when I got my hair chopped off. But that is the beauty of hair, it always grows back! We have all gotten that one bad haircut where we leave the salon holding back the tears, but just remember, its only hair!

  1. Shampoo less

Shampooing less allows your hair’s natural oils to work, which makes your hair shiny and healthy! Shampoo every other day, or even longer than that. Befriend dry shampoo, it is a life-saver!

  1. Too blessed to be stressed

Be thankful for the hair you have! Yes, we all wish our hair was a little straighter, a little curlier, a little longer or a little shorter, or that it was just a liiiiitle blonder, but God made you the way he did for a reason! And like I said, it’s just hair! Think of it this way: there are some girls out there who’d love to have your hair and others who don’t have hair at all. Consider yourself lucky, and appreciate what you have! You’re too blessed to be stressed.

XOXO, Chels

Filling in Your Brows 101

Filling in Your Brows 101
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/Chelsea-Crockett-Filling-in-Your-Brows-101.jpg

The way you do your eyebrows can make or break your look. Some girl tweeze their poor brows until they are skinny as a pencil mark, either purposefully or unintentionally. Some girls wear theirs super bushy! Whatever way you wear them, eyebrows can transform your face. Here are a few brow-filling tips to make sure your eyebrows are on fleek.

  1. Brow powder vs. brow pencil: In order to fill your brows the best you can, use two shades of brow powder or pencil to structure your brows and give them definition.
  2. Make sure you’re using the right color: Don’t pick the shades that match your brow hair exactly. Instead use shades that are a tad lighter. You also want to keep your skin tone in mind. If you have darker skin you want to use a chocolatey color with some warmth. If you have lighter skin, go for a sandy, light brown combo.2b9fbbbbf368190370d1c31b64b09397
  3. Use concealer to prep: Before you start filling in your brows, take concealer or subtle highlighter and blend it on top and underneath each brow. This gives your brow color something to stick to and defines your brows.
  4. Start under the arch of your brows: Use a small angled eyebrow brush to apply the darker shade of brow color to the underside of your brows on the arch. It frames your eyes! Just make sure you don’t make the arch too high, you don’t want to look angry!
  5. Finish things off: After you are done filling those brows to the best of your ability, use brow gel to hold everything in place. We wouldn’t want you to have Albert Einstein crazy brows at the end of the day!

Hopefully these tips help you make your eyebrows on point!

Skin Tips for Outdoor Workouts

Skin Tips for Outdoor Workouts
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/chelsea-crockett-skin-tips-for-outdoor-workouts.jpg

If you are a runner or enjoy working out in the cold, you need to protect your skin from the chilly temps and wind! Your skin can be damaged by the sun and by windburn. Here are a few tips on how to protect your pretty complexion when heading out in the cold.

  • Cover your skin: Wear mittens, a scarf, a headband to protect your ears, and on really cold days, a face mask for your nose and cheeks!moisture
  • Say yes to sunscreen: Even if you are going to be out for a short time, always put on sunscreen before you go out. This protects your skin from both sun and windburn. Also, don’t forget chapstick, your lips can get sun and wind burned too.
  • Be prepared: Check the weather report before you go outside to workout. If the weather is super cold, plan to only stay out for a short time. Stick to slow-moving activities that won’t cause the wind to hit your face and give you windburn.

Keeping your skin damage-free is mega important, so be sure to follow these cold-weather skin tips!

Drugstore Beauty Products

Drugstore Beauty Products
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/Chelsea-Crockett-drugstore-beauty-products.jpg

Walgreens is one of my favorite places to kill time. I can find everything I need, and many things I don’t, while I’m there! There are so many beauty products to choose from, and they are all pretty affordable too! Here is a guide to the best beauty products at your local drugstore.

  1. Daily face moisturizer: You can find great spf moisturizers at your local drugstore! Protecting and hydrating your skin is vital.
  2. Cleansing water: Keep a bottle of this next to your bed with some cotton balls to cleanse your face, take your makeup off, biore-with-natural-charcoal-pore-penetrating-charcoal-bar-reviewand hydrate your skin before bed! You can literally wash your face while chilling in bed watching Gilmore Girls.
  3. Sea salt spray: Sea salt spray doesn’t need to be expensive! Cheap ones do the trick just fine. If you are looking for texturized beachy hair, grab one of these from the drugstore! It is a must for any beauty arsenal.
  4. Charcoal bar: These bars are magic! If you are dealing with breakouts, charcoal soap is just what you need. It de-gunks your pores to help keep your face black head free!

Happy drugstore hunting!

Time Saving Beauty Hacks

Time Saving Beauty Hacks
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/Chelsea-Crockett-Beauty-Hacks.jpg

Time is of the essence, especially when I wake up late or am in a rush to get ready! There are hundreds upon thousands of beauty and makeup hacks to help you save time when you’re in a bend… or simply want to sleep in a little longer! Here are my favorites that I find most helpful!

  • If you’re an avid eyeliner wearer and you have an eyelash curler, this is the hack for you! Take your eyeliner and draw it on the sharper side of your eyelash curler. After using it, the eyeliner should go directly where you want it! It’s super easy!
  • If you’re in a rush and don’t have much time to apply concealer, foundation, bronzer, etc., apply a tinted SPF cream to your face. Not only will it protect your skin from the sun but will leave your skin looking smooth as well!
  • If you don’t have time to wash your hair, dry shampoo is always a good alternative. Just spray a little by your roots to remove that “oily hair” look.
  • I read online that soaking your mascara bottle in a cup of hot water will make it easier to apply. It apparently slides right on without any messy clumps. Just drop your mascara in a cup while you’re getting ready to allow it some time to soften.Chelsea Crockett - Ironing Hack
  • This hack is one of my favorites, and most-used! If you don’t have time to iron your shirt, dress, skirt, etc., use your straightener! Just lightly run over it wherever you need to eliminate wrinkles.

What’s your favorite time-saving beauty hack? Share with me in the comments below!

Winter Sequin Style

Winter Sequin Style
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/Chelsea-Crockett-Winter-Sequin-Fashion.jpg

To me, sequins are a vital accessory when it comes to winter fashion. They can take any outfit from simple to stunning. Here are my top 3 favorite ways to style sequins.

  1. Skirts: I bought 2 sequined pencil skirts at H&M last season and im so glad I did. I style them with tights and a simple blouse to balance out the pazazz of the skirt. They are a great Christmas/New Years party outfit option!sequin
  2. Clutches: If you want to wear sequins in the most subtle way possible, grab a sequined clutch. Target has so many cute ones this season! They are a great way to add feminine flare to your outfit, plus they are a great statement piece.
  3. Blazers: This is the easiest way to style sequins. By tossing on a sequined blazer you can add sass to any ensemble. Wear it with jeans and a simple tee for a contrasting look, or pair it with dress pants or a skirt for a cute date night outfit.

How will you style sequins this winter?

DIY Makeup Removers

DIY Makeup Removers
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/Chelsea-crockett-diy-makeup-removers.jpg

I have to admit, the majority of makeup removers burn my skin. They sting when I go to wipe my makeup off at night and are packed with harmful chemicals. Plus, they can get pretty pricey! Here are 3 diy makeup removers that are easy on your skin and on your wallet.

Number 1:

  • Ingredients: Olive oil, baby shampoo and wash (tear free), waterimages (4)
  • Combine ½ tbsp of baby shampoo and ¼ tsp olive oil in a mason jar, then add ½ cup of water. Shake it up before use, then use a cotton swab to apply it.

Number 2:

  • Ingredients: 1 tbsp olive oil, 1 tbsp canola oil, 1 capsule vitamin E.
  • Combine ingredients, break the capsule and add in the vitamin E (it has great healing properties), and shake it all together! Again, apply with a cotton swab.

Number 3:

  • Ingredients: 2 tbsp witch hazel, 2 tbsp oil, 2 tbsp water
  • Combine ingredients and shake well before using. Like the ones above, use a cotton swab to apply.

Hopefully these formulas give you some makeup-removing options to choose from!

XOXO, Chels

Chic Winter Nails

Chic Winter Nails
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/chelsea-crockett-chic-winter-nails.jpg

Winter time means parties and get-togethers galore! You want to make a statement with your style choices, and nail art is one way to do just that! Now you could choose to keep it simple and just paint your nails red for the holidays, but if you want to live on the wild side, try one of these chic winter nail styles!

  1. Angled: This style is simple and unique. Just take a piece of tape and cover half of your nail with it. Paint the other half white, let it dry a bit, and then peel the tape off. Paint clear top coat over each nail to seal the color in, and you’re done!nails 2
  2. Chevron stripes: This style is a new take on chevron. It sort of reminds me of a snow flake! Paint your nails with a clear base coat, then use nail tape to make the chevron pattern. Paint over your whole nail with white polish, and pull off the tape while the polish is still wet. Once it is dry, apply a top coat.
  3. Subtle sparkle: This style might be my favorite of the 3. It is so subtle and classy. Tape off a triangle at the base of your nail and paint it with glitter polish. You may need a few coats for it to show up. Peel off the tape and coat with clear top coat. Done! It is that simple.

Statement nails are a great way to finish off any ensemble!

Skillet Chocolate Chip Cookie

Skillet Chocolate Chip Cookie
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/chelsea-crockett-Skillet-Chocolate-Chip-Cookie-.jpg

I am a sucker for any food with the word “chocolate” in it. That being said, chocolate chip cookies are a particular weakness of mine. Here is a recipe for a bigger take on your average chocolate chip cookie...made in a skillet!

Ingredients:

  • 10 tbsp unsalted butter, divided and softened
  • ½ cup granulated sugar9843402706_b19092a1ca
  • ½ cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp kosher salt
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips.
  • (optional) vanilla ice cream

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees, then use 2 tablespoons of butter to grease the bottom and sides of a 9 inch cast iron skillet. Add the other 8 tablespoons of butter and sugars to the bowl of a stand mixer and beat them together until it is light and fluffy. Add in the egg and vanilla, then beat well until combined. Next add the baking soda, flour, and salt to a large bowl and mix to combine. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ones and mix on low. Pour in the chocolate chips and mix on low. Press the cookie dough into the skillet and bake for 20 minutes until the edges are crisp and the cookie is golden. Take it from the oven and let it cool, then eat it with some vanilla ice cream!

This is a great sleepover or “girls night” treat. You can literally eat a giant cookie out of a pan! How great is that?!

XOXO, Chels

How to Tame your Frizzy Hair

How to Tame your Frizzy Hair
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/chelsea-crockett-how-to-tame-frizzy-hair.jpg

If you asked me what annoys me the most in the world, frizzy hair would definitely make the top 5 on my list. All I want is silky, shiny, flowy hair like you see in those Pantene commercials. Is that too much to ask? Part of it is my fault. When your hair is dry or damaged, it becomes frizzier and frizzier. I want to break up with my frizzy hair, and this is how I plan to do it.

  1. Turn down my hot tools: Using high heat on your hair can cause your hair cuticles to swell (= frizz) so turn the temp down for minimal frizz.frizzy-blonde-hair-400x400
  2. Wash my hair less frequently: Washing your hair too often strips your hair if its natural oils and can make it dry out. Dry = frizz. Use dry shampoo to help your hair stay manageable between washes.
  3. Deep condition: Deep conditioners seal your hair cuticles and prevent humidity from getting to your hair. More moisture= less frizz.
  4. Use sulfate/alcohol free products: Sulfates dry the heck out of your hair, which causes it to soak up the humidity, which = frizz. Alcohol swells the hair cuticle which = frizz, so look for products that are alcohol and sulfate free.
  5. Avoid touching my hair: Every time you touch your hair you are breaking up its natural pattern which can cause frizz.

Kiss your frizzy hair goodbye!

XOXO, Chels

Reverse Hair Washing: What it is and Why It"s Good for You

Reverse Hair Washing: What it is and Why It"s Good for You
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/Chelsea-Crockett-Reverse-Hair-Washing-What-it-is-and-Why-Its-Good-for-You-.jpg

There is a new beauty trend that is peaking my interest. It is called “reverse hair washing,” and it is exactly what it sounds like! The new trend is to wash your hair in the backwards order of what you usually do. Why in the world would you want to do that? Read on.

  1. Why: So the science behind reverse hair washing is to decrease the residue that is left on your hair from using conditioner.23225aacb011cce118adad8b82409c54 When we shampoo first and then condition, we usually don’t get all of the conditioner out, and when this happens it weighs your hair down. This can cause your hair to be limp and heavy and not hold a curl or volume.
  2. How you do it: Wet your hair completely. Then work conditioner throughout your hair and let it sit for a few minutes. Next, apply shampoo with the conditioner still in your hair. After lathering up, rinse it out like you normally would.

I have found that this method helps detangle my hair before I am even out of the shower. I wish I would have known about this when I had long hair!

XOXO, Chels

Monogram Fashion

Monogram Fashion
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/Chelsea-Crockett-Monogram-Fashion.jpg

Fashion is all about showing off your own style and being confident in it. With monogram fashion, you can take it a step further and personalize your outfit with your initials! I love all of the different things you can get monogrammed and customized. It’s not only inexpensive but a way to customize almost any article of clothing!

First off, let’s start with accessories. You have to have seen at least one monogrammed hat at least once before. They’re so cute and can be made in whatever color you want! Another big trend is monogrammed necklaces. They’re simple, classy, and come in either silver or gold. You can even buy monogrammed phone cases, earrings, and bumper stickers!

Next comes the endless variety of monogram clothing.  Chelsea Crockett - Monogram Rain PulloverWith cold weather approaching, you can order a half-zip fleece pullover, an over-sized long-sleeved t-shirt, or a puffy vest with your initials engraved on it! (If you want the full cold weather proof outfit, get a monogrammed infinity scarf or rain boots!) My favorite piece of clothing that I’ve seen all over Pinterest is a monogrammed rain jacket like the one on the left. You can get a half-zip or a full-zip, whatever you prefer.

There are many different sites that you can now order your personalized items on, but my favorite is Etsy. Their site is reliable and not too expensive, too. Check it out!

How to Wear Over-The-Knee Boots

How to Wear Over-The-Knee Boots
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/chelsea-crockett-how-to-wear-over-the-knee-boots.jpg

On Pinterest I always see pictures of women wearing chic over-the-knee boots and I drool a little. The boots are so chic and look effortlessly stylish. They look so slimming, too! Well, as we have heard time and time again, some things look better in pictures than they do in real life. Over-the-knee boots are one of those things. As it turns out, styling and being able to pull off over-the-knee boots is actually a bit of a challenge because they don’t always flatter every body type and style preference! Here are a few tips on how to wear them for every body type.

  1. For tall girlies: You ladies have it the best when it comes to over-the-knee boots. Your long legs are beneficial because the bootsboots accentuate them and make them look even longer! Pair them with a simple sweater dress for a great balanced between your boots and your hemline.
  2. For curvy ladies: If you have curves you can totally rock these bad boys! It is all about how you wear them. Go for a pair that hits right above the knee and creates a lean, long leg line with some dark denim jeans. As for your top, wear a long sweater or blouse to finish the ensemble off.
  3. For petite gals: When it comes to my petite pals, I suggest pairing over-the-knee boots with fitted pieces that show your shape. It is important not to overwhelm your small frame! Don’t wear tops or dresses with long hemlines that make your legs look short, go for tops/dresses/skirts that leave plenty of space between your hemline and boots.

These stylish boots can work for any body type! You just have to know how to style them in a way that works with YOU. :)

Last year floral jeans and bold prints were all the rage. This year, texture is what we are loving. Moto jeans are an edgy, unique, fashion-forward statement that I am excited to work into my wardrobe. They have just enough texture to be different from the crowd, but are not flashy and do not draw too much attention. They are a subtle statement. Here are 3 ways you can make moto jeans your own this fall.

  1. Casual and comfy: Pair a neutral sweater with a distresses, earthy shade of moto jeans. Add in some neutral suade booties or neutral flats and a fringe purse for an everyday look.Moto jeans 2
  2. Edgy: Grab a pair of black or burghundy moto jeans and toss on a black sweater and a leather jacket to turn some heads. Toss in some black chunky booties, a black or burghundy clutch and some black wayfarer shades to complete the look.
  3. Denim: Slide on some denim moto jeans with a simple sweater, printed flats, and an animal print handbag.

I want your style tips! How would YOU wear these jeans? What would you pair with them? I want to know! Comment below.

XOXO, Chels

Top 5 Fall Nail Colors

Top 5 Fall Nail Colors
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/chelsea-crockett-top-5-fall-nail-colors-.jpg

Fall/winter is my favorite time of year when it comes to nail trends. The tones are so rich and deep, plus they are very versatile and look good with just about any outfit! I can never decide which fall color I want to paint my nails because I love them all, but here are my top 5 go-to’s.

  1. Burgundy: Burgundy is classy and sassy. It is such a rich color, and I feel super feminine when I wear it. It is also a great fall/winter color because of the changing leaves and warm tones of nature.nails 1
  2. Grey: Grey is the perfect winter nail color because it is just dark enough to be “winter’ish”, but not as dark and severe as black, and not as summer-ish and peppy as white.
  3. Hunter green: You may not think that hunter green is a good nail color, but you would be mistaken! It is an untapped gem. Christmas colors are red and green, so some green in your look is encouraged. Hunter green is subtly green, so no need to fret if you are uneasy about wearing green on your nails.
  4. Dark sparkles: Want to show your mysterious side, playful side? Opt for dark polish with subtle sparkles!
  5. Nude: You can never go wrong with a perfectly pretty nude nail. If you aren’t sure what your Christmas has in store for you outfit wise, nude is a good bet because it goes with anything.

Happy polishing!

XOXO, Chels

Flannel Fashion

Flannel Fashion
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/chelsea-crockett-flannel-fashion.jpg

Flannels are a pretty diverse piece of clothing. They can be worn in so many ways, from wrapped around your waist to layered over a dress to simply buttoned up! Besides being oh-so-warm and cozy, they are also pretty darn cute. Here are 4 ways to fashion your flannels this season.

  1. If you live somewhere where the weather is not too chilly during the winter months but can get a little brisk at times, you can layer a unbuttoned flannel on top of a floaty dress and pair that with boots and sunglasses. If you live where it is chilly, add some tights under the dress to make this outfit work for you!130f87ce746fbc7b509533fa9aa75955
  2. An all-black outfit is necessary every once in a while. Want to feel chick and edgy? Pair some black skinnies with a simple v-neck tee and a black and white unbuttoned flannel. Toss on some boots and a statement necklace and you are ready to rock.
  3. If you have a preppy side, which I think we all do deep down, layer a checked flannel under a cute sweater. Let the collar and the cuffs of the sleeve pop out of the sweater to show the pattern. Add in a statement watch, some bangles, and riding boots to finish off this look.
  4. Add a feminine flare to your flannel by tucking it into high-waisted jeans. Wear some classic nude or brown booties with this to create a sort of retro, classic, almost western look!

How will YOU wear your flannels this fall?

XOXO,

2 DIY Mint Scrubs for Winter

2 DIY Mint Scrubs for Winter
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/Chelsea-Crockett-DIY-Scrubs.jpg

Winter is the season for peppermints and pine trees and the lovely scents that come along with them. On Pinterest (I may have a slight addiction), I found multiple DIY recipes for different mint scrubs and products. Since it’s the holiday season, I thought I’d share a couple that make for a perfect present… or for your own enjoyment!

For the first recipe, Chelsea Crockett - DIY Mint Scrubyou’ll need a few key ingredients: coconut oil, sugar, peppermint oil extract, and green or red food coloring. First, microwave a ½ cup of coconut oil in a bowl for about 15-30 seconds until it’s softened. Take out your bowl and add 1 ½ cups of sugar along with a drop or two of whatever festive food coloring you choose. Add more sugar until you get the right consistency. There you have it, you’re done!

Another recipe contains the following ingredients: 1 cup of sea salt or sugar, a ½ cup of organic almond oil, a ¼ cup of organic honey, peppermint essential oil, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. To start off, mix the salt or sugar with the almond oil and honey. Add in about ten drops of peppermint oil with the vanilla extract to follow. Stir together and add more sugar to meet your desired consistency!

Which scrub is your favorite? Try them out and let me know below!

Lipstick Rules

Lipstick Rules
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/chelsea-crockett-lipstick-rules.jpg

In the winter time is when I wear the most lipstick. I like how dark reds and maroon lips look paired with a stylish winter ensemble. Plus, I go to a lot more parties and gatherings because of the holidays so I dress up more in the winter, which means I wear lipstick more often. If you want to get the prettiest pucker, follow these lipstick rules!

  1. Get off to a good start: Before you apply lipstick, exfoliate the dead skin off of your lips with a damp washcloth. This gets your lips prepped and ready for appication!download (2)
  2. Know your stuff: You should also know what lipstick formula works best for you! Matte formulas last long, but they also dry your lips out a bit. Creamy formulas hydrate your lips, but they arent long-lasting. Experiment with different ones and find which one works best for you!
  3. Go bold: If you want your lip color to be bold, line your lips with a lip pencil before applying lipstick.
  4. Be wise about blotting: Blot your lips with a tissue in between applications by gently pressing a tissue to your lips. Just don’t put a tissue in between your lips and close down on it because this may cause the color to rub off.
  5. Top it off: Top your lipstick off with some gloss. The shine helps your lips look plumper.

Follow these rules to get the perfect pout!

How to Rid Yourself of Jealousy

How to Rid Yourself of Jealousy
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/Chelsea-Crockett-Bible.jpg

Jealousy is a feeling we all experience daily. Whether it’s within relationships, friendships, or simply wanting something we don’t have, it’s hard to control. As hard as it is to be fully content with the situation we’re in at times, once you free yourself of envy, life becomes 10x more enjoyable!

When we look to the Bible for advice on how to overcome jealousy, God has a lot to say to us. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 says “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” He means that no matter what situation you’re in, be grateful. Sometimes this can be the most difficult task. For example, if your friend starts dating a boy you like, it’s tough to think of the positives. Maybe what God has in store for you will be even better than your own plan. Trust that His plan is always right and that everything happens for a reason.

Another verse in the Bible from 1 Corinthians says this: “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.” Apart from being content in all circumstances, try and remove any negative mindsets you might have. Be patient, be kind, be humble… all of these actions will tear away the jealousy and negativity one day at a time.

XOXO - Chelsea

Best Neutral Eye Palettes

Best Neutral Eye Palettes
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/chelsea-crockett-Best-Neutral-Eye-Palettes.jpg

Eyeshadow is usually a really important part of my makeup routine. How I do my eyeshadow depends on my outfit, my day’s events, and even my mood sometimes! The kind of eyeshadow you’re using is equally as important. You want your shadow to be opaque so that it shows up, you want it to be long lasting so it doesn’t wear off, and you want the palette to last you a while so you don’t feel like you are spending a ton of money because you keep running out. Another important factor to me is the shades offered in the palette. Every makeup lover needs a good neutral palate in their possession. Neutrals go with everything and are a good “every day” look. Here are my favorite neutral eye palettes!

  1. Urban Decay: I love the Urban Decay “Nakes” palettes. They are a little pricey, but they last foreevvvverrr. I’ve had mine for 2 years and it’s still going strong. There are 3 “Naked” palettes, and each has 12 natural shades that range from matte to shimmer and even glitter shades! They also offer palettes that are a little smaller and offer your basic neutral shades.eye
  2. Tarte: I recently got the “Tartelette In Bloom Clay Eyeshadow Palette” from Tarte and I am obsessed! It offers 12 shades, 9 mattes and 3 lusters. What is so great about this palette is that the shadows are made with an Amazonian clay formula that offers great pigment, blendability, and long-lasting color.
  3. Too Faced: Too Faced’s Natural Eye Neutral Eye Shadow Collection is also a great neutral choice. It offers your 3 most basic shades in larger amounts because you use them more often, which I think is genius, and has 9 other great neutral shades.

There are so many great neutral palettes, but these 3 are my favs!

XOXO, Chels

Bra Maintenance 101

Bra Maintenance 101
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/15549acffa67a5ce7b05274362012335.jpg

Bras are such an odd yet necessary item of clothing. Not only that, they are an expensive item of clothing! To keep your bras in the best shape possible and to keep them lasting a long time, keep these tips in mind!

  1. Don’t wear the same bra 2 days in a row: Bras need a 24 hour “rest” between uses to keep the elastic from stretching out. Just like you need a break, your bras do too!f_62a23a8078
  2. Wash your bra in a bag: Tossing your bras in the washer with all of your other clothes is a big no no! The hooks of your bra can snag on your other clothes, and tumbling around freely in the washer can damage their fabric! Wash them in a mesh garment bag and don’t put them in the dryer.
  3. Wash them once a month: No need to wash your bra after every use. Washing it once a month is totally fine. The less you wash it, the less “wear and tear” it will get.
  4. Store them in a flat drawer: When you are bra shopping at stores like Victoria’s Secret, they display most of their bras laying flat in drawers. This helps them keep their shape and will help them last longer.

Keep your bras in tip top shape with these teeny tips!

XOXO, Chels
