Travel In Style

Travel In Style
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/80713018292143726O421OP4Vc2.jpg

Since I am traveling to and from New York this next month, I thought these travel tips would be great to share! Today I am going to help you master the art of traveling with style. It is a tricky talent to tackle, but we will get through it together.  The best advice I can give you is to dress in layers.  This way if you get hot or cold on the airplane or in the car you can just peel of a layer and still be looking cute. Another big bit of advice is to wear shoes that are easy to take off, and that are super comfortable to walk in. They need to be easy to take off so you don’t get caught up in the security line trying to hassle with your shoes. There’s always that girl who wears the boots with 12 million buckles and laces and takes 20 minutes just to take her shoes off at the security checkpoint. Don’t be that girl! Also, if you are traveling by car, wearing shoes that are easy to take off is a must so that you can remove them while riding in the car, but then slip them back on when you stop for food or at a rest stop.

Now what you wear also depends on the climate of your destination and the climate at your starting place. If you are starting out in a warm climate and traveling to a cold climate, then you are going to want to wear something very versatile. On your way to the airport and at the airport you can be wearing blue jeans and a v-neck with a neutral tank underneath. Then once you reach your frigid destination you can pull on a sweater over your shirt and then pair a cute coat over that and you are good to go! Another option is to start out with your jeans rolled up as capris, and then when you land you can roll them down. If you are driving the same rules apply!36ad7cf18115437fbfcf13f910cacf56

If you are traveling from cold to warm I also recommend dressing in layers. While at your starting point you can wear a pair of warm leggings with a warm oversized sweater and cozy booties. Under the sweater you can layer a stylish v-neck and cozy tank. Once you get to your destination you can pull off your sweater and be ready to go!80713018292143726O421OP4Vc

When you are traveling from cold climates to cold climates or warm climates to warm climates it is much easier to choose what to wear. Just keep it cozy! Have a blast, wherever your whereabouts may take you.

Safe travels!

Vans are definitely a new trend I’m starting to see everywhere.  School, the mall, the movie theater, the park, no matter where I go it seems tons of girls and guys have caught on to the trend!  You can find Vans almost anywhere such as Journey’s, JC Penny, Pacsun, Zumiez, etc…  The coolest thing about them is that people have found out how to make their own designs with these shoes!

  • Galaxy Vans.  Galaxy Vans are super easy and fun to make!  It also prChelsea Crockett - Galaxy Vansovides an activity for you and your friends to get together and create!  All there is to it is purchasing a pair of plain navy or black Vans, pink, blue, and purple fabric paint, and a sponge for applying your paint.  Dip your sponge in the blue paint and apply all over your shoes!  This is going to be the color you put most on your shoes.  Then to get a more “galaxy” look, add purple and a little pink on the shoes as well, overlapping the blue.  After that, take a small paint brush and apply tiny white dots around your shoes in place of the “stars.”  You can even attempt trying to paint actual stars, whatever you’re able to!

  • Create Your Own.  This one is much easier.  Purchase a simple pair of white vans and decorate them however you desire.  Color, paint, or draw whatever you want!  Add polka dots, stripes, zig zags, whatever suits you.

I can’t wait to see how all of yours turn out!   Drop me a comment and let me know!  Links to get a pair to start your creation are below!

Your Perfect Pair of Sunglasses

Your Perfect Pair of Sunglasses
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/image-1024x574.jpg

It’s beginning to be that time of the year again; warm weather, the anticipation of summer, and oh yeah, the sun!  Finding your perfect pair of sunglasses is essential to any spring/summer wardrobe.  Since it’s starting to get nice out, you’ll be spending less time indoors and more time outside enjoying the weather!  Not only do sunglasses protect your eyes, but they add a special flare to any outfit as well!Chelsea Crockett- wayfarer sunglasses

Begin by knowing your face.  Look in the mirror and determine what type of face structure you have (circle, oval, heart, square).  This will help you find the most flattering pair of sunglasses for your face!  If you have a round face, stay away from big, oval or circle shaped sunglasses.  They will make your face seem larger than it is.  Instead, opt for a pair of wayfarers.  The rectangle structure will add a good balance to your facial structure!  If you have a square or heart shaped face, then big sunglasses are for you!  Try a dramatic, circular pair of glasses.  The difference in structure will add a nice balance to your face.

Once you’ve found your perfect pair of sunglasses, then you’re prepared to take on the summer sun.  Remember, it’s all about balance, so know your face!

Campout!

Campout!
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/Chelsea-Crockett-backyard-campout.jpg

One of my favorite things to do in the spring is to have sleepovers with my best girlfriends.  Movies, painting nails, and sweet treats are all part of the fun, but have you ever wanted to switch up the typical sleepover?  On cool summer nights, having a campout in your backyard is so much fun!  I like to call it “glamping” (glamorous camping), because you get to campout, but still have the house with electricity and a bathroom!  I’ll give you all the tricks and tips to your perfect backyard campout.

Chelsea Crockett- backyard campout

First, find someone with a tent.  I typically have to ask my dad to set it up for me, but if you want to take on the challenge, go for it!  Invite all your friends over and make sure they bring their sleeping bags, pillows, and a flashlight.  Remember, you won’t have power!  Set up a radio or bring out your iHome to listen to fun music throughout the night.  Make up crazy dances or sing along under the stars.  If it gets hot, use an extension cord to bring a fan into the tent.  That should cool it down!  If possible, set up a fire!  It’s perfect for roasting s’mores, telling stories around the campfire, and enjoying the beautiful night.

Having a backyard campout with your friends is a great bonding experience.  Just enjoy your surroundings and most of all your friends.  If you don’t have a tent check these out!   http://tiny.cc/Tent

Have fun,

Chelsea

Packing Tips!

Packing Tips!
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/chelsea-crockett-packing.jpg

The holidays are a big travel day for most people. Are YOU traveling anywhere soon? If so, check out these handy packing tips!

1. Make a list of everything you need to pack and check it regularly as you are packing. Add your essentials to the list first, and then you can add extra items to the list once you have the important stuff down. This allows you to make sure you don’t leave any precious cargo behind!

2. Check the weather of your destination so you can know exactly what to pack! You don’t want to pack a parka if you are headed to Hawaii! Duh! Just make sure you are prepared for whatever weather the destination may throw at you.chelsea crockett packing

3. Organize your belongings so it is quick and easy to unpack and find just what you are looking for. Pack things that are not super important on the bottom of your bag, and then pack things that you know you will need right when you get there on the top. Genius!

I hope that you have safe travels and that you have a safe journey wherever life takes you this Holiday season!

Billabong Buys!

Billabong Buys!
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/Chelsea-Crockett-Billabong.jpg

Calling all summer-lovers… Billabong is a super stylish surf brand that sells the hottest summer trends year round. If you like the “beach-goer” kind of style, then you’ll be obsessed with Billabong. Here are a few of the several products Billabong offers :)!Chelsea Crockett - Billabong Cover Up

I know most of you will be spending 99% of your summer days either poolside or at the beach. And you can’t go to the beach without a cute new swimsuit and cover-up of course :)! Billabong has triangle, halter, low-rider, cross back, and bandeau bikinis in all different colors and patterns. As far as cover-ups go, I love big shirts or long dresses to wear over my swimsuit, and Billabong has just that! They have super trendy, yet casual, maxi skirts and dresses to throw on when you’re headed to the pool such as the one on the right! So cute!

If you live somewhere that’s cold year round, Billabong has clothing for you too! They offer sweaters, cardigans, hoodies, etc. So, no matter who or where Chelsea Crockett - Billabong Dressyou are, you can always find something that suits you.

My favorite part of this brand would have to be the dresses. Their style of dresses is very boho chic, which is extremely in right now! The dress on the left is absolutely adorable, how can you disagree?

If you are in to surfing, Billabong is 100% the place for you. They have an entire collection called the “Surf Capsule” which includes wetsuits, surfer tanks, and other clothing and accessories. Check out the website here!

Enjoy! Love, Chelsea

Healthy Chip Alternatives

Healthy Chip Alternatives
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/Chelsea-Crockett-Sweet-Potato-Chips.jpg

Summer is all about staying fit and eating right.  This is a hard thing to do when your pantry is filled with lots of salty snacks!  What you might not know is that there are many healthy alternatives to substitute for chips and other treats that taste just as good and benefit your body!

Chelsea Crockett - Sweet Potato Chips  Although chips are very delicious, they definitely aren’t the best thing for you.  Instead of potato chips, try sweet potato chips.  They are a high source of vitamin A and are much better for you than potato chips.  Along with their reduced fat, they are surprisingly very tasty! Another route to go would be rice cakes.  They contain less fat and less calories.

Most people find popcorn as a fattening and unhealthy snack.  But it’s not the popcorn that’s full of calories, it’s the toppings.  Toppings such as salt, butter, or cheese are full of fat and sodium.  As long as you stick with just the popcorn, or at least a small amount of toppings, it’s pretty much an all-around healthy snack.

Now anyone could have guessed these, fruits and vegetables.  Although they’re very different from chips, everyone needs their daily dose of nutrients and vitamins.  These are, of course, some of the healthiest foods you could eat.  Remember, an apple a day keeps the doctor away!

How to Style a Concert T-Shirt

How to Style a Concert T-Shirt
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/Chelsea-Crockett-concert-tees.jpg

Concerts are such a fun pastime!  With so many great artists on tour right now, it’s hard to decide which concerts to go to!  So after you’ve gone to the concert and bought your fun merchandise, what do you do with that concert tee?  It’s hard to figure out when, where, and how to wear a concert tee, other than just to sleep in.  Here’s a few fun tips on how to style your concert tee.Chelsea Crockett- concert t-shirt styling

Picking out your concert tee is key to how you will style it.  Will you pick out a fitted tee, a regular t-shirt, or a tank?  The easiest way to rock your concert tee is with a pair of skinny jeans or high-waisted shorts and sneakers.  This looks best with an over-sized regular concert tee.  Even add a beanie or army jacket for that street style look!  To dress up your tee, pair it with a skirt.  You may be thinking, “A skirt?!”  YES!  Don’t be afraid to mix things up!  Tuck your concert tank or tee into a fun colored bubble skirt for a feminine look with a little bit of rock ‘n’ roll.  Go glam and add plenty of statement jewelry.

If you aren’t a concert goer or would like more concert tees, check out a vintage shop or even eBay for an old school concert t-shirt.  The older the better!  This will give your outfit that old school look, which is so in right now!  Who would’ve known that a concert tee could be worn so many different ways?  Get creative and have fun going to concerts!

Love,

Chelsea

Save Money on Prom!

Save Money on Prom!
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/chelsea-crockett-save-money-on-prom.jpg

Prom can be an expensive adventure! Knowing how much it costs can sometimes put a damper on your excitement because you are constantly worrying about money. Here are 3 ways to save some moolah on prom so you can have the best night ever!

  1. Dinner: with a little planning ahead, you can save loads on your prom dinner! Use the site resteraunt.com to buy giftchelsea crockett homecoming cards for less than they are worth, for 10$ you can get a card worth 25$! Holy moly! And if you have a big group, you can get a 40$ card worth 100$!! If you all chip in, it will be super cheap.

  2. Hair: Instead of spending more than 50$ on an updoo, have a friend do your hair! If you have a girl friend that loves doing hair and is talented at it, she will be honored that you want her to do your hair!

  3. Pictures: If your parents or someone in your group’s parents have a nice camera, have them take your prom photos instead of spending money on a photographer! My dad takes my group’s pictures every year. He loves it! DaddyLiciousInsider!

Saving money is always a good idea, especially on things as pricy as prom! Hopefully these tips help you save on your big day!

XOXO, Chels

What Holds You Together?

What Holds You Together?
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/laminin.jpg

laminin Chelsea Crockett – Laminin – Colossians 1:17

Some of us make excuses when we are off track and living in a way that is completely self-centered.  I know, because I was stuck in this personal slavery for many years.  The emotional pain caused me to be stuck here.  I was in this place for so long, until one day, I began to even question the existence of God.

During the difficult times, I found myself using Science as an excuse to deny his presence.  I prefaced conversations about God with the argument that the overlap of Christianity and science is very, very small.  I couldn’t see the order and sequence in the universe because my life was in a state of  selfishness.

I’m sharing a video this week that will hopefully move you, if you are in a similar place in your life.  It’s also dedicated to people who need to be reminded of God’s unfailing love, existence, and his purpose in our living and breathing lives.

With Homecoming dances right around the corner, I bet you’ll be shopping for a fun dress.  Whether it’s high-low, glitter peplum, or color block sequin, Windsor has what you are looking for.   They offer nice dresses that won’t break the bank!  So if you are a girl on a budget, go to Windsor and start shopping now.Chelsea Crockett - Windsor Dresses

Once you’ve chosen your dress, remember to top it off with some jewelry. Windsor also offers earrings, necklaces, bracelets, and rings that will add bling to any look!  Remember not to overdo it with bling if your dress already has sequins and/or glitter.  Tasteful earrings and a bracelet will be plenty.

Last, but not least, your new outfit will require some amazing shoes.  Comfort is always important when choosing your shoes.  However, sometimes us girls have to suffer a little in sparkling heels to put the cherry on top (or bottom! Haha) of our dazzling homecoming look.  Once again, Windsor has it all!  They offer T-strap, ankle cuff, whisky open toed pumps, and lace crochet booties.  So, what are you waiting for?  Grab a friend and go shopping or get online as soon as possible!  Happy homecoming!

Sweet Getting-To-Know-You Game

Sweet Getting-To-Know-You Game
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/chelsea-crockett-getting-to-know-you.jpg

Are you ever at a party and its kinda awkward because you don’t really know the people there? I have a super sweet idea for a “getting to know you” game that is sure to be a crowd pleaser. Why? It involves chocolate! I’m in! This game can be played in any situation that you need to break the ice.

Have each person take a handful of M&Ms and put them in a plastic cup so they don’t melt in their hands. For each color of M&M, you have to answer a specific question. Here are some examples:

-          Red- something that happened yesterday.

-          Orange- something you are good at.chelsea crockett

-          Yellow- something about your childhood.

-          Blue- something you cannot live without.

-          Brown- something you learned last week.

-          Green- something you like to watch/listen to.

This kind of activity not only makes things less awkward because you get to talking and learning about each other, it is also delicious! Try this out next time you have a gathering or a few friends over.

XOXO, Chels

Perfect Messy Pony

Perfect Messy Pony
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/chelsea-crockett-messy-pony.jpg

Are you a morning person? If you are, I envy you. Most girls are running around in the morning like crazy people trying to get out the door because they slept past their alarms! If you are one of these ladies who is always running late, here is a quick, fabulous hair do for you to try.

The Messy Pony!

Chelsea Crockett messy pony

Ladies, everyone can rock the classic messy pony. Sometimes, a regular ponytail is just too basic and boring. Spruce it up! Here are the steps to getting that chic, super-fast updo.

1. Take the sections of hair that are at your temples and pull up the section like you were going to do the “half-up half-down” hair style. Spray this section with dry shampoo to absorb all of the access oils! Now that you have the top section of your hair, take the back part of the section and start teasing from the back to the front. Before you tease the small section, spray some hairspray at the root of the hair because this will help the hair to stay teased!

2. As you get closer to the front of your hair, tease the hair less so you don’t see as much of a rats nest. Leave out the front section of hair so that you can use it to cover the teased portion. Mist your hair with hairspray because this will give your hair texture!

3. Take the sections of hair behind your ears and bring them to the front. Now that you have both the top section of your hair and the sections behind your ears all pushed towards the front of your head, take the back section of hair that is left and create your first ponytail. Make it close to the middle of your head, not too high and not too low!

4. Flip the front and side sections back and pin your tease down with bobby pins however you want. If you want a high tease, make it happen! If you want less tease, that is totally fine too! Just pin your hair closer to your head if you don’t want as much tease. Pull your remaining hair back and add it to your first ponytail! If you want to add a little accent to the pony, you can add in your favorite headband.

Easy, right? Now go rock those messy ponies!

Spring Shorts and Sweaters!

Spring Shorts and Sweaters!
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/chelsea-crockett-sweaters.jpg

As you all know, I am a firm believer in high-waisted shorts. They are flattering on anyone! This spring I am so excited for one of the new up and coming trends. What is it, you may ask? High waisters and sweaters! Genius!

chelsea crockett spring fashion

The reasons I love wearing my high waisted shorts with sweaters are endless. First of all, it is the perfect mixture of cold and warm. Your legs are exposed so you may be a bit chilly on those brisk spring days, but you upper half is super warm and cozy because of your sweater! What a happy medium! Also, I just love the look of an oversized sweater halfway tucked into the shorts, just like the picture in this article. I love the messy, easy going look. Another reason I love this trend is the fact that I can put off packing up my winter sweaters that I love so much! I can still wear my favorite sweater with my beloved high waisted shorts! Pair your sweater and shorts with a pair of converse or combat boots and you are all set to swing into spring!

XOXO, Chels

Easy Blowdrier Waves

Easy Blowdrier Waves
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/chelsea-crockett-easy-blowdrier-waves.jpg

Do you ever wonder what you can do with your wet hair? After a shower, trying to figure out how to style your wet hair can be sort of a challenge. If you are looking for a quick, easy way to style your wet hair then stay tuned!

What I am going to introduce you to today is blow drier waves! This hair style is super easy to do and is also super cute! All you do is comb your freshly washed, wet hair, and take a small section and twist it. The section you take should be about an inch wide. Then, blow dry the twisted section until it isuntitled pretty much dry. Before you unwind the twist, lightly hair spray the twist. After you have misted it with hair spray, unwind the twist. Repeat this process with the rest of your hair. After you are done, toss some dry shampoo through your locks to make them a little messier and wavy!

Enjoy!

Uplift Your Soul

Uplift Your Soul
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/Chelsea-Crockett-uplift-your-soul.jpg

An overload of work at school, drama with your best friends, and too many commitments can really suck the life out of you.  It’s hard to find time to reflect and spend quality time with yourself when every hour of your day is taken.  When you’re constantly on the go, it’s easy to take life for granted and pass up the little things, like telling your parents you love them when you leave the house or thank you after dinner.  Life can get crazy, but it’s important to stay true to yourself and enjoy life.Chelsea Crockett- life is good

The word “no” is very powerful.  It’s so easy to say yes to a thousand things which can make life busy.  Don’t over commit yourself.  Instead, say yes to a few things, so you can dedicate more of your time to them.  This way, you’ll be able to give 110% without getting over whelmed.  The word “no” is also very powerful when it comes to your group of friends.  Picking your friends is very important.  It’s easy to fall into the wrong group and get caught up in things you shouldn’t.  The effects of your friends can be ever-lasting.  Don’t let a wrong decision determine the rest of your life.  Be around people that uplift your soul, make you happy, and benefit you.

Every once in a while, have a day for yourself.  Watch your favorite movie over and over again, go on a shopping spree, or enjoy a cup of tea while admiring God’s works.  Life is SO good, so don’t let it pass you up!  Be happy and do things that uplift your soul, for the Lord our God is so good!

I love you all!

What You’re Doing Wrong to Your Skin: Part 2

What You’re Doing Wrong to Your Skin: Part 2
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/Chelsea-Crockett-skin-mistakes.jpg

Loving your skin is very important.  If you read my last article, “What You’re Doing Wrong to Your Skin”, you may have realized that there are a lot of harmful beauty regimes you may be using on your skin.  Your skin is so delicate, so to prevent these mishaps, check out these additional ways to save your skin from any harsh treatment!

  • Be careful when exfoliating!  Scrubs with thick jagged pieces can cause small tears on the surface of your skin.  Even using a wash cloth to exfoliate can cause damage.  Make sure to be gentle and wash in a circular motion.  If it feels like it’s working “too good”, then it’s probably doing some harm.

  • Wash your makeup brushes!  After countless makeup applications, your brushes are probably caked with makeup, and not to mention bacteria.  Bacteria from your eyes, mouth, and bathroom can build up on your brushes.  Invest in brush shampoo or a spray to keep them clean!Chelsea Crockett- makeup brushes

  • Do not rely on makeup wipes to clean your face.  Of course they are great for lazy nights or a makeup mishap, but they may leave irritants or chemicals on your skin since you are not rinsing with water.  Be sure to wash your face with soap and water!

  • Watch touching your hands to your face!  Your hands touch everything, which can create a buildup of dirt and oil.  Touching your face with unclean hands can create more oil, or worse, zits!

Paying attention to your skin is very important!  Treat it with care and it will pay you in return with a glowing complexion.

Love,

Chelsea

My Top 3 Favorite Songs
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/2013-04-29_16-57-482.jpg

I love music. I listen to it on the bus, when I am at home, and when I just need to relax and get away. Today I am going to fill you in on my current top 3 favorite songs. These are songs I shamelessly rock out to on a daily basis!

1. Come With Us (Feat. Can’t Stop Won’t Stop) By Lindsey Stirling:

I love this song because it is so unique. Why is it unique? It mixes rap with violin music. It is so cool! Lindsey is a really talented violinist, so when you pair her with some cool rap music, it is a really catchy song!

My Top 3 Favorite Songs

2. Turn the Radio Up by Kyle Andrews:

I love this song because it has a unique beat. I also like it because the artist, Kyle Andrews, is like the male version of Ellie Goulding. Go check it out!

 My Top 3 Favorite Songs

3. Radioactive by Imagine Dragons:

Ok, I cannot get enough of this song. When my brother Chandler and I listen to this song we jump on my bed and dance. Well, he TRIES to dance, but he has still got some learning to do ;). This song has such a great beat and makes you wanna get up and move!

My Top 3 Fav Songs

So, if you’re looking for some new, fresh tunes, check these out! They are each really unique in their own way, and will make you wanna get up and dance.

Protect Your Skin In The Sun!

Protect Your Skin In The Sun!
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/fantastic-summer-flower-retro-sunshine-wallpaper.jpg

Protecting your skin is extremely important, especially around this time of year.  I’ve pulled together a few of my favorite skincare products to help keep your skin safe in the sun.  These products are perfect for a family vacation at the beach or a day at the zoo with friends.  Whatever you’re doing, don’t forget your SPF!

Chelsea Crockett- After Sun Lotion Neutrogena is the best brand if you have sensitive skin, like me.  To get a tan, while still staying away from those harmful rays, SPF 30 is just right.  Once your day in the sun is over, I love to apply Hawaiian Tropic Hydration After Sun Lotion all over my body after a shower.  It adds the moisture your skin has lost from being out in the sun.  For a pinch of shine, buy Hawaiian Tropic After Sun Lotion Shimmer Effect.   It has a tint of shine in it to make you look like a tan glimmering goddess!  Your skin will glow from head to toe! If you want to check it out, click here!  Another must-have is lip balm with SPF.  Cracked red lips are not very attractive.  I bought Nivia lip balm with SPF for my vacation.  All of these products will protect your skin, but still give you that nice summer glow.

Stay safe in the sun!

Questions to Help You Clean Out Your Closet

Questions to Help You Clean Out Your Closet
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/Blend.jpg

Whenever you are cleaning out your closet, it would be totally helpful to have some guidelines and pointers, am I right?Today I am going to give you a few questions to ask yourself while you are cleaning out your closet that will hopefully make the process go easier and smoother!
1.  Does it fit me right now? - We all have those items in our closet that we say “when I lose a few pounds, THEN ill be able to fit into it”, but unless it’s within 1 size (2 max) from your current size, let it go to a new home! Don’t get me wrong, having clothes that give you motivation to work out and lose weight are great, but make sure that they are a realistic size!

2. Is it flattering? - Just because something ‘fits’ does not mean that it is flattering. Does the color wash you out? Does the fabric give you lumps & bumps? If so, let it go! You want to wear clothes that make you look and feel confident and beautiful!chelsea crockett closet organization

3.Do I love it? Would I re-buy it? - I know you are not over the moon for every single piece of clothing in your closet, but if you don’t love it anymore, put it in the GO pile! The other question to ask yourself is “If I was at a store and saw this piece of clothing, would I buy it again?” If not, say bye bye!

4. Will I actually wear it?  Does it fit my lifestyle? - We have all bought that fab skirt or daring heels thinking we would find somewhere to wear them. Years later, they’re still in the closet, collecting dust, with the tags still on them. Donate them to a resale shop and give someone else a chance to rock ‘em!

Good luck cleaning out your closets ladies!

A basic white tee is an item that every girl must have in their closet.  It’s a classic!  This tee can be dressed up or down and can be worn with almost anything!  So what exactly are the perfect ways to style a white tee?  Check it out!Chelsea Crockett- white tee with blazer

  • If you need to look a bit more professional, try it with a blazer!  It’s a classic when paired with slacks or skinnies and flats or heels.  There are so many possibilities!

  • Throw it on with skinny jeans or a pair of shorts.  Tuck it in or leave it out.

  • Nothing looks sleeker than a basic white tee.  Dress it up with jewelry, fun shoes, sun glasses, and more!

  • Tuck it in to a maxi or skater skirt!  It’s the perfect way to dress down a rather dressy skirt.  This look is perfect for shopping or hitting downtown.

  • Make it grungy with army!  Pair your white tee with an army coat and a beanie.  It’s the ultimate skater look.

  • Go crazy with prints!  Add a printed pair of pants or a skirt to liven up your look.  Since the tee is so basic, it’s totally acceptable to grab a crazy print to go with it.

If you all have kept up with my YouTube channel lately, you’ve seen that I have been doing a buy and try series. Each month I buy certain products and then, you guessed it, try them out :)! For the month of April, I decided to take a break from buying and spending, and only review the products I tried out last month. Here are some of my absolute favorites!

  • Essie nail polish. I absolutely LOVE this brand of polish. It’s long lasting and doesn’t chip off easily like other brands. My favorite color atChelsea Crockett - Essie the moment is called “Lady Like.” The color payoff is ahhh-mazing.

  • TRESemme Anti-Breakage Conditioner. I liked this conditioner a lot, but I only got to experiment with it for a short amount of time. For the time I had it, it worked really well and I definitely recommend it!

  • Nature Valley Crunch Granola Bars. Don’t even get me started on these! Five out of Five stars for this product. I’m obsessed!

  • Vanilla plus Lavender Candle. This candle, by Patriot Candles, is from Walgreens and its smell is SO relaxing! I love burning it before I go to sleep. It’s not too strong but leaves a sweet smell in the room.

Make sure you hop over to my YouTube channel and watch the April Buy & Try video for more reviews on other products!  Links to the above products are below!

How to Build Your Wardrobe Part 4: Put it all Together!

How to Build Your Wardrobe Part 4: Put it all Together!
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/Blend21.jpg

How to build your wardrobe part 4: Put it all together!

Now that you’ve filled your closet with pieces that fit great, look great, and are pieces that you love, it’s time to put it all together!

Is there a better feeling than looking in your closet and seeing a bunch of pretty new things you can’t wait to wear? It is amazing! There’s a few things you can do to help take full advantage of your new, fabulous wardrobe.

Step 1: Would You Still Buy It?
Now that you have your new purchases at home and are done shopping, try everything on again. Sometimes a dressing room is not the best place to determine how a piece really looks on you. The lighting may have been bad, you maybe didn’t havethe right underwear on, etc. Are you still excited to wear the piece? Maybe it is not as cute as you thought. This is the time to go through your purchases and make sure you really love them!

 Step 2: Start Styling!

Plan at least one outfit for each new piece. Put together a whole look, from the shoes to the accessories! Make sure to incorporate pieces that you already had into the looks also.

 Step 3: Create a Lookbook

Once you have an outfit all worked out, take a picture of it or write it down. When it’s time to get dressed later on, you won’t struggle to remember what pants, or shirt, or scarf looked best. It’s also a great way to help you get dressed when you’re in a hurry!

chelsea crockett

Step 4: Work Those new Clothes!

I know I know, this is such a tough one ;). You’ve done a ton of work for this wardrobe, now it’s time to go out and show off your new pieces!

I hope that this process has helped you build a wardrobe that makes you feel confident, beautiful, and like a total fashionista! Your clothes should work for you, not the other way around. So, try every day to get dressed in something that puts a smile on your face!

Keep smiling darlings,

XOXO, Chels

How To Build Your Wardrobe Part 3: Time to go Shopping!

How To Build Your Wardrobe Part 3: Time to go Shopping!

How to build your wardrobe part 3: time to go shopping!

You’ve cleaned out your closet, defined your personal style, and now it’s time for my favorite part! SHOPPING!

When most people go to fill their closet back up, they just buy random pieces that they like. Shopping like that doesn’t build a sturdy wardrobe. Before you head to the store this time, there’s a little more work to be done.

chelsea crockett shopping list

Step 1: Make A Shopping List

Look through your current clothing and take note of the pieces you’re missing. Which pieces are you always reaching for but never have? Next, move to your style list that we created in part 2. What pieces do you need to add to your wardrobe so you can achieve your desired style? Remember to look for the pieces and styles you saw repeating in your inspiration.

 Step 2: Prioritize Your Purchases

Go through your shopping list and prioritize which pieces will have the most impact in your wardrobe at the current time. Start with the basics, or the pieces you’ll wear most often. Then move on to the pieces you need to start or finish your inspiration looks. These are the pieces that tie everything together. The lowest on the list might be things like accessories or pieces similar to what’s already in your closet. If you’re on a budget, your priority items will be the first things to shop for, and then slowly work down your list as your budget allows.

 Step 3: In-Store vs. Online

Shopping in the store will give you instant gratification. You will be able to add the purchases to your closet right away and will be able to see how they work with the rest of your wardrobe.

Shopping online has benefits as well! When you shop online, you can be in the comfort of your own home! Everyone has their own preference on which way to shop.

Don’t be afraid to try a trend or style that may be different from what you’re used to wearing. But remember, if it doesn’t fit great, look great, and feel great, it’s not part of your perfect wardrobe. Also, don’t get frustrated if shopping feels difficult or unsuccessful. Once you start, it will get easier, I promise!

XOXO, Chels

PS. Stay tuned for the next article of the series called “Putting It Together”.

How to Build Your Wardrobe Part 2: Finding Your Personal Style!

How to Build Your Wardrobe Part 2: Finding Your Personal Style!
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/Blend1.jpg

How to Build Your Wardrobe Part 2: Finding your personal style!

Style is a way to show people who you are without having to speak, so what do you want your style to say about you?

Now that you’ve cleaned out your closet, it’s time to fill it back up with fresh, new, fabulous things. This series isn’t just about getting new clothes; it is about having clothes in your closet that you love. This insures you will never have to go through the ‘I have nothing to wear’ monologue again. That’s why Part 2 is all about defining your personal style. When I say defining your style, I mean determining what clothing shapes and pieces work for your body and lifestyle, then going from there.

 Step 1: Evaluate Your Wardrobe

Go through your ‘keep’ pile and pinpoint what works for you. Ideally, most of what’s left in your closet is things you enjoy wearing, things that fit comfortably, and items that look good on you. These will be the starters for your perfect closet.

Step 2: Assess Your Current Style

Go look at some photos of yourself! What outfits look good on you and what specific piece of the outfit was most flattering. If you do not have a lot of photos to look at, ask a close friend who will tell you the truth and get their honest opinion on what they think you look best in. Sometimes the opinion of a friend is all you need!

 Step 3: Look for Inspiration

This is the most fun part of the process! This is the time to go through all of those “style” boards on Pinterest to good use! Go through magazines, check out websites, use any resource you can find. Even if the whole outfit isn’t for you, if there is a part of it that you like, save it!

Step 4: Start a Style List

Now it’s time to combine your current personal style with your inspiration images. Look at them both and determine any common elements. Do you find repeating aspects in these images & your current personal style?

By identifying what type of clothing or style you’re drawn to, it will be a lot easier to fill your closet with pieces you love! Stay tuned for the next part of the series called “Time to go shopping!”

How to Build your Wardrobe: Part 1!

How to Build your Wardrobe: Part 1!
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/Blend2.jpg

Every girl dreams of having the perfect wardrobe, fully stocked with adorable clothes for every occasion. Am I right? Today I am going to give youi some tips on how to build the wardrobe of your dreams!

Step 1: Clean Up!

*Clean up your room. Going through your closet in an already messy room will just create a big, exasperating, overwhelming disaster. Clean up your room and make space to lay out your clothes.

*Clean up yourself. Do your hair and make up! When you try on clothes, anything you try on will look better if you’re looking good too!

Step 2: Get To Work!Chelsea crockett how to build a wardrobe

*Pick out a basic top & bottom, like jeans and a white tee, to try on with your pieces. If you’re trying on a top, wear the jeans and vice versa with the white tee.

* Go through one category at a time. I recommend you do all tops at once, all skirts, and so on. It’s easier to determine if you have duplicates or similar pieces. This also helps you from getting overwhelmed!

*Start with the clothes you don’t need to try on. These may be closet staples like black & white tanks/tees, uniforms, that sort of thing. Put them in the STAY pile. Things that are stained, ripped, damaged, move them to the GO pile.

Step 3: Go Through Your Piles!

*If you ended up with a lot of items in your stay pile, try and re-evaluate. Be realistic! You’re trying to build a wardrobe you love!

*Divide your GO pile into pieces that need to be thrown away, donated, and sold.

Don’t be overwhelmed with cleaning out your closet! Try doing just one or two categories of clothes in a day rather than everything in one sitting. Once you get the hang of cleaning things out, it will become easier to part with pieces. I know I sometimes have a hard time getting rid of clothing because I think “You never know, someday I might need this!” but when the going gets tough, just remember, you’re working towards building a wardrobe you love with clothes you’ll be excited to wear every day! You can do it, ladies!

XOXO,

Chels

I love maxi skirts! Even better? You can rock ‘em in the spring! There are quite a few different ways that you can style them, and here are a few examples:spring maxi skirt

  1. Tank and leather jacket: If it is still a little chilly, this outfit is the best. Pair a white tank with your favorite bold colored maxi skirt and a leather jacket. The jacket will keep you warm, while the skirt and tank will keep you cool.
  2. Denim shirt: I love this look. Grab a light colored maxi, like coral or light purple, and pair it with a denim button up. Perfect combo of cute and casual!
  3. Loose white tee: if you are out and about running errands, you can toss on a loose white v-neck and your breezy maxi skirt and off you go!

I am so excited to break out my maxi skirts this spring. Are you?

XOXO, Chels
