Chocolate Chip Cookies Feat. Cookies and Cream

Chocolate Chip Cookies Feat. Cookies and Cream
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/chelsea-crockett-Chocolate-Chip-Cookies-Feat.-Cookies-and-Cream.jpg

What is your favorite kind of ice cream? Mine is definitely cookies and cream. There is just something about the combination of those delicious Oreo cookies and that creamy ice cream…My mouth is watering just thinking about it! Today’s Chelsea creation is cookies and cream chocolate chip cookies, found on the blog “Inside BruCrew Life.”

Ingredients:

  • 1 vanilla cake miximages (1)

  • 8 Tablespoons melted butter

  • 1 egg

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 4 ounces softened cream cheese

  • 2 cups Oreo cookie chunks

  • 1/2 cup white chocolate chips

  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips

Directions:

  1. Combine the cake mix, butter, egg, and vanilla. Beat until a soft dough forms, then add the cream cheese and beat again. Stir in the Oreo chunks and chips by hand.

  2. Refrigerate the dough for about a half an hour. Roll the dough into 36 balls. Place the balls on a baking sheet and bake at 350 degrees for 9 minutes. The cookies will seem a bit gooey, but they will firm up as they cool. Let them cool on baking sheet for 2-3 minutes and then transfer them to a cooling rack.

Now, grab a glass of cold milk and enjoy your delicious creations!

XOXO, Chels

Oily Skin? Try Salt Toner.

Oily Skin? Try Salt Toner.
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/chelsea-crocket-sea-salt-toner-.jpg

I struggle with oily skin, like a lot of girls my age. I have learned a lot of natural ways to combat my oily skin, and using salt as a facial toner is just one of them! Salt exfoliates, cleanses, and tones your skin while giving it a softer, blemish-free look! Here is how I use salt in my skin beauty regimen.

Salt toner:

  1. Mix 1 tsp of sea salt and 1 tsp of apple cider vinegar with 2 cups of waterSea salt

  2. Pour the mixture into a container so that you can store it.

  3. This is how you use the toner: wash your face like you normally would, and then use a cotton ball to apply the salt toner all over your skin. After you have applied it, wash it off with cold water. You can also fill a small spray bottle with it and spray your face instead of using a cotton ball.

How does this toner work exactly? I’m glad you asked. The apple cider vinegar and sea salt both have properties that will prevent & reduce acne and blackheads as well as keep your skin clear. These ingredients are cheap and all natural so you can feel good about what you are putting on your skin!

Happy cleansing!

XOXO, Chels

Prom Prep: Pick Your Perfect Dress

Prom Prep: Pick Your Perfect Dress
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/download.jpg

Lately my Instagram feed has been full of posts having to do with prom dress shopping. I LOVE seeing everyone showing off their dresses! It makes me super excited to go shopping for mine. It is always kind of handy to have a guide on what kind of dress to look for, and which one is best for my body shape. Here is a quick guide for picking the perfect prom dress so you can look rockin’ in the right gown!unnamed (2)

  1. Petite- Petite ladies should go with a-line dresses, or if you are feeling adventurous, a ball gown styled dress.

  2. Tall- For you long legged ladies, go for a ball gown or an a-line dress. You will also want to go with some sort of sleeve, such as sheath sleeves.

  3. Pear Shaped- If you have a pear shaped figure then you have a lot of options. A few are dropped waist, ball gown, a-line and strapless. Also, for the cut of the dress, go with a v-neck or sheath!

  4. Full Figured- If you have a fuller figure you want to go with a dress that has a high waist. This will take attention away from your hips (my hips don’t lie, so this is a useful tip for me!). You also want to have a dress with some kind of sleeve, weather it be spaghetti strap or cap sleeves.

And there you have it! All you need to know about finding the best dress for your body type, all in one place! I hope your dress makes you feel like the belle of the ball.

Clean Eating: What Is It?

Clean Eating: What Is It?
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/chelsea-crockett-clean-eating-what-is-it.jpg

I hear the phrase “clean eating” all the time. What exactly IS clean eating? I always knew it had to do with eating healthy and weight loss, but I never really knew exactly what it entailed.  Clean eating is simple. It is the concept of eating healthy, whole, unprocessed foods.  Here is a little more info on what clean eating is. Who knows, maybe you will want to try it out for yourself!

  1. Choose foods that are unrefined: This means that you eat more whole grains like quinoa and beans as well. Clean sugars are sugars like honey, agave, and maple syrup.clean-eating-meme

  2. Be aware of salt, sugar, and fat: When you cut out processed foods, it makes it a lot easier to do this! These are responsible for a lot of the extra calories we take in every day. Clean foods are naturally low in these three things.

  3. Don’t drink your calories: High calorie drinks like flavored coffee and soft drinks add an extra four to five hundred calories a day. Yikes! Choose water or green tea instead.

  4. Include carbs, fat, and protein in every meal: We usually get enough carbs and fat in our diet, but a lot of times we lack protein. Protein is important when you are trying to build muscle and can also keep you fuller longer.

  5. Minimize processed food: Try and focus on eating natural foods, not foods that are out of a box or can.

I strive to eat clean, and if you want to live a healthy lifestyle, then you will too!

DIY Frosted Lemonade

DIY Frosted Lemonade
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/chelsea-crockett-diy-frosted-lemonade-.jpg

One of my favorite warm weather drinks is lemonade. I love to lay out in the sun and sip it. So relaxing! Although fast food places make really awesome frozen lemonade, I think the best kind is the homemade kind! Here is how to make the best frozen lemonade around. You will knock the socks off of your friends when you make them this tantalizing treat!

Ingredients:6be12616-a45e-4242-8b6c-ce87c69b8c49

  • 1 cup Fresh Squeezed Lemon Juice

  • 1/2 cup Sugar

  • 2 1/2 cups Water

  • Slow Churn Vanilla Ice Cream

The first step is to add the lemon juice and sugar to a pitcher. Stir the mixture until the sugar is dissolved. Add in the water and stir until it is all mixed together. Refrigerate the liquid for an hour or more to let it chill. In your blender, add 1 cup of the chilled mixture and 2 cups of ice cream. Blend it all together really well, and then pour yourself a tall glass! When life gives you lemons, make frosted lemonade.

Yummo!

DIY Funfetti Candles

DIY Funfetti Candles
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/chelsea-crockett-DIY-Funfetti-Candles-.jpg

Are you looking for a fun snow day DIY or a simple craft to do with friends? Then look no further! These funfetti candles are fun to make AND fun to smell! If you want your room to smell like cupcakes, then this DIY is just what the doctor ordered!

What you will need:570d959e302e69d7ddd53d686f131368

  • 2 16oz mason jars

  • Candle wicks

  • Hot glue gun

Pencils or something similar to hold the wicks in place

  • Tape

  • 2-3 tbsp water

  • 1-2 tbsp corn syrup

  • A small paintbrush or cloth

  • 1/2 cup colorful sprinkles

  • 1 lb soy wax flakes

  • Cupcake scented wax cubes

Hot glue the wick attachment to the bottom of the jar. In a bowl, mix the corn syrup and water. Coat the inside of the jar with the mixture and use a paintbrush to get all of the nooks and crannies. Slowly add sprinkles to the jar and roll them around to get it evenly coated. Lay a pencil across the top of the jar and tape the wick to it to keep it centered. In a double boiler, melt the wax flakes and a few of the scented cubes. Use a measuring cup with a spout to pour the wax into the jars. Make sure to pour the wax into the center of the jar to avoid messing the sprinkles up.

Viola! There you have it, two yummy-smelling candles that look good enough to eat!

XOXO, Chels

Overcome Curly Hair Struggles

Overcome Curly Hair Struggles
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/Chelsea-Crockett-Overcome-Curly-Hair.jpg

Curly hair can be both a blessing and a curse. When you have a good hair day, everyone is jealous of your wavy locks. I know I am! But every once in a while, curly hair is more of a burden than a gift. It shouldn’t have to be that way! I’ve learned some great tips from some of my friends that have the same struggle.

Whether your hair is straight or curly, frizz plays a role in messing it all up! It just hits curly haired girls a little harder than should,Chelsea Crockett - Paul Mitchell Spring Loaded but there’s no need to worry. Paul Mitchell has many, many hair products that are perfect no matter what type or texture your hair is. His Spring Loaded® Frizz-Fighting Shampoo and Conditioner works to cleanse curls but maintain their frizz from the start. He has a few other frizz-fighting products that are sure to help as well!

Although this may be more for curly haired girls, avoiding constant heat on your hair is a tip almost anyone can use. Straightening your hair every so often is fine, but applying heat every day will do nothing but damage your waves. They’ll end up dried out and brittle which will increase the amount of frizz your hair is going to have.

If your curls aren’t the exact shape you want them to be, use this trick! After washing (or simply wetting) your hair, apply a serum and wrap your curls around your finger. Hold them there for about 10 seconds and release them. This’ll help form your curls without the use of heat or excess products.

Lastly, love your curls! There are so many girls that would die for even a slight wave to their hair. Don’t take it for granted!

Love, Chelsea

Jumpsuits and Rompers 101

Jumpsuits and Rompers 101
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/Chelsea-Crockett-Jumpsuits-and-Rompers-101.jpg

Jumpsuits and rompers are the ultimate all-in-one outfit.  They’re so easy to slide on and run out the door.  With spring approaching, we’ll be seeing a lot more rompers everywhere, but it’s important to find the right romper or jumpsuit for your body type!  Keep on reading to find out which is best for you!Chelsea Crockett- jumper

Jumpers trend to be longer in the leg, especially if they are wide or flare legged.  If you have long legs and a short torso, then the jumper is for you!  It will make your legs look longer and since there is more material in the leg area, you won’t find extra fabric bunched up around your stomach.  If you’re petite, stick with the normal romper

When it comes to picking a print or color, stick to solids!  Since a romper or jumper is basically pants and shirt put together, prints can be overwhelming.  A solid color can be easily pared with any kind of accessory and are perfect for casual or dressy events.  Before you leave the house, don’t forget your shoes!  If you’re wearing a jumper, wedges or heels are most ideal.  It’ll help lengthen the leg and balance out the outfit.  Stick to flats or sandals if you decide to rock a romper

I hope you’ll find the perfect one piece outfit for this spring or summer!

Spring Tulle Fashion

Spring Tulle Fashion
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/Chelse-Crockett-Spring-tulle-trend-.jpg

Spring is here! This  means that you will need an adorable ensemble to wear to church and any Easter get-togethers you may be attending! My favorite spring article of clothing is my tulle skirt. It is so fun and flowy! Here are some tips on how to style your tulle skirt this Easter.tulle 3

  1. Keep the top trimmed: You want to pair your tulle skirt with a tighter top. A loose shirt could make the outfit look frumpy, but a tight top keeps the attention on the skirt and give you a classy look.

  2. Layer with neutrals: If you are going to wear a printed top, keep the tones neutral! I also love pairing it with a jean jacket when I am keeping it casual.

  3. Accessorize casually: When you are wearing something as frilly as a tulle skirt, you want to keep your accessories casual so that they accentuate the skirt and don’t make the outfit look too flashy.

  4. Make a necklace exception: When I say keep the accessories casual, this excludes the necklace! I love spicing up my outfits with statement pieces!

I bought my tulle skirt at Kohl’s, it is from Lauren Conrad’s collection! It was super affordable, and it is also crazy classy!

Happy Easter!

XOXO, Chels

A lot of times, you are that person for someone else! We all become someone’s role model at some point, so it is good to know how to act in those situations. Here is how to be a great role model:tumblr_mnoaycJz4H1qeo7pbo1_500

  1. Have a positive attitude: Positive people are way more fun to be around, and their happiness is infectious! By being positive, you are motivating others around you to do the same. Nobody looks up to a Debbie downer!

  2. Be humble: Don’t be boastful or prideful. A humble person is one who is respected!

  3. Have integrity: Be honest about everything and, well, have integrity!

  4. Practice what you preach: When someone says something and then does something totally different, it is hard to trust them.

  5. Be an inspiration: If people see you overcoming obstacles in your life or they see what an amazing example you set for others, they will be inspired by your success!

Like I said earlier, you never know who will look up to you or who you are inspiring, so it is always good to be mindful of these attributes and strive to fulfill them every day!

I know you guys are amazing role models! I have faith in you.

XOXO, Chels

Do you have a specific song that always gets you pumped to work out? Or, do you have a go-to song that you always do abs one songor cardio to? I have a few songs that never fail to pump me up. Cinnamon Toast Crunch Cupcakes

Cinnamon Toast Crunch Cupcakes
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/Chelsesa-crockett-Cinnamon-Toast-Crunch-Cupcakes-.jpg

Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal is my weakness. I could eat that stuff by the handful! Here is a recipe for cupcakes that incorporate those toasty treats. Here is how to whip up a batch!

For the batter:IMG_1203-1-682x1024

  • 1 French Vanilla cake mix

  • 1/2 cup melted butter

  • 3 tsp vanilla

  • 3 eggs

  • 1/2 cup milk

  • 1/2 cup water

  • 1 tbsp cinnamon

  • Brown sugar to top cupcakes

Pour your batter into cupcake liners and bake it for 13-15 minutes at 350ºF. Once a tooth pick comes out clean, take the cupcakes out and let them cool before you put your icing on them, and while they are cooling make the icing.

For the icing:

  • 1 1/2 cups butter at room temperature

  • 1 3/4 cup cinnamon toast crunch cereal crumbs

  • 5 tsp vanilla

  • 1 tsp butter flavoring

  • 4-5 cups powdered sugar

  • 2 tbsp condensed milk

  • 4 tbsp brown sugar

  • 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon

Whip all the ingredients together until you get a desired consistency, then ice your cupcakes! After icing them, sprinkle with cinnamon sugar and top with a Cinnamon Toast Crunch square. Then, munch away!

Why We Weight lift

Why We Weight lift
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/Chelsea-crockett-why-we-weightlift.jpg

Usually when I think of working out, I think of doing cardio. But, experts are saying that weight lifting is just as or even more important than getting that cardio in! When I say weight lifting I don’t mean getting huge bulky muscles, lifting can actually help you get slim, toned, and in the best shape ever! Here is how.Woman-working-out1

  1. You will burn more fat: Seriously! Researchers have found that those who lift weights shed 6 more pounds of fat than those who only did cardio.

  2. Max your metabolism: As you get older you begin to lose muscle mass, which can tank your metabolism. By lifting weights and building muscle, you are keeping your metabolism kicking!

  3. You will torch more cals: You continue to burn calories even after your workout is done when you lift weights. This is because your muscles have to work extra hard to repair their fibers!

  4. You will catch more Zzz’s: Strength training helps you improve your quality of sleep and helps you fall asleep faster.

Lifting weights is not my favorite thing in the world, but I make sure to work some weight training into my exercise routines because I know it will help me maintain a healthy, fit lifestyle!

Mango Pancakes

Mango Pancakes
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/chelsea-crockett-mango-pancakes-.jpg

Mango pancakes? This phrase combines two of my favorite foods in the world! Start off your day right by making these sweet treats for breakfast.

Ingredients:

  • 3 mangosdownload (2)

  • 4 tbsp icing sugar

  • 300 ml thickened cream

For the pancakes:

  • 6 eggs

  • 4 tbsp caster sugar

  • 1 cup milk

  • 1 cup plain flour

  • ½ tsp salt

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 4 tbsp vegetable oil

For the pancake batter, whisk the eggs and sugar together and then add the milk in. In a separate bowl, stir together the flour and salt and then whisk it into the egg and milk mixture gradually. Add in the vanilla and oil, then stir. Remove any lumps from the mixture and allow it to stand for 30 minutes at room temp. It will be watery. Make your pancakes in whatever pan you usually use, and then cover them with plastic wrap and store them in the fridge.

Whip the cream and the powdered sugar until it is firm. Peel the mangos, and then slice them thick. Spoon some cream onto the top of the pancakes and then top them with two slices of mango. Cover the mango with a bit more cream and then roll the pancake up. Let them chill in the fridge for a few minutes and then gobble them up!

Wow, my tummy is rumbling just typing this recipe! Do you think they sound yummy?

Beware of These Beauty Trends

Beware of These Beauty Trends
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/chelsea-crockett-Beware-of-These-Beauty-Trends.jpg

In past articles I have mentioned fashion “fads” that you should shy away from. Fads are fashion or style trends that are popular for a very short time and then go out of style, like peplum shirts and wedge-sneakers. Today, we are going to talk about beauty fads instead of fashion fads.

Neon nails: Now, we all rock neon nails on occasion, but…Neon nails are not always a fashion-forward option. If you strive to be chic, classy, and to have a mature flare to your style then go for more neutral, classic shades.

Half shaved head: Put down the hair clippers! Tons of girls who have tried this hair style are now totally regretting it. Why? You have to wait for the shaved hair to grow back, and when it does finally start to reappear, it comes in choppy and uneven. Sure, it looks edgy and cool in the beginning, but it is a huuuge investment to make.Gaudy Nails 1

Over-the-top ombre: Ombre is supposed to be a subtle fade from dark to light, but recently some girls have taken it to the extreme. If your hair is two totally different colors, you did it wrong!

Extreme nails: Another nail trend! When I say extreme nails, I mean having so many sequins or jewels on your nails that you start shedding them in your hair, bed, shower, and then if they affect your daily life, like now you have trouble opening things because you don’t want to mess up your blingged out nails!

Non-existent eyebrows: If you pluck your eyebrows so much that they are now a thin line and you have to pencil them in if you want them to look shapely, then we have an issue. Having super thin eyebrows can make you look older. Also, thick eyebrows are totally coming back! Check Kylie Jenner’s insta to see evidence.

So, ladies, if you are partaking in any of these beauty trends, pump the brakes! I catch myself doing it on occasion, I am guilty of it too!

As a girl, our room is our pride and joy. It might not be the cleanest place in the world, but it’s a place we can be the boss of and call our own. My favorite part about having my own room is the decorating and personalizing. Pinterest, of course, is the heart of my inspiration. I’ve found some décor that I didn’t know I was missing out on!

Have you ever heard of removable wallpaper? I’m in love! You can choose from hundreds of different patterns to match the rest of your room. You can pick black and white chevron print or hot pink and purple polka dots! Check it out :).

Lastly, DIY headboards are decorative and fun to create! There a tons and tons of different designs you can do. How to Cleanse your Wardrobe

How to Cleanse your Wardrobe
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/chelsea-crockett-cleanse-your-closet-.jpg

We’ve all heard of detox cleanses, hair cleanses, even juice cleanses! But, have you ever heard of a wardrobe cleanse? Yes, ladies. Even your wardrobe could use a little detoxing. Here is how to give your closet a healthy little cleanse.

  1. Think about it: Ask yourself these questions when going through your clothes:cool-old-clothes-floor

  • Is it comfortable?

  • Does it fit right?

  • Is it damaged?

  • Do I really like it?

If you said “well…no…” to any of the questions above, you know what you need to do.

  1. Watch your wallet: Just because you are getting rid of clothes doesn’t mean you get to go out and buy a whole bunch more to replace them! This process is mean to “trim the fat” in your wardrobe and weed out the clothes you really don’t want/need.

  2. Discover your style: As you get older and become more aware of what looks good on you and what styles you are drawn to, you tend to buy more items that fit into that style. When you know what your “style” is, you are able to get rid of items you know aren’t really “you.”

  3. Consolidate: Now that you have purged your closet, clean ‘er up! I like to organize my shirts so they are sorted by color. That is just one of the ways I keep my closet orderly, and it helps me feel less cluttered and I am able to find things easier!

Now, ladies, get to detoxing

Spaghetti Squash!

Spaghetti Squash!
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/Chelsea-Crockett-baked-spaghetti-squash.jpg

Pasta is one of my biggest weaknesses!  I can fill my whole plate up with heaps and heaps of spaghetti, fettuccine, or lasagna and finish it all.  You name it, I like it!  Unfortunately, certain pastas can be really bad for you; full of carbs, creams, and butter.  While browsing the internet one day, I discovered spaghetti squash!  It’s a healthy alternative to regular pasta and it’s so easy to make!  All you need is a spaghetti squash and your favorite pasta sauce.  Let’s get started!Chelsea Crockett- spaghetti squash

Preheat the oven to 365 degrees and bake the squash for 60 minutes.  Punch small holes in the squash with a knife before placing it in the oven.  This will allow the squash to get soft on the inside.  Once the squash has finished baking, cut the squash in half and use a fork to discard all seeds.  Continue using the fork to scrape the squash long ways to make pasta strands.  If the squash is not soft enough to do so, then bake it for 10 more minutes before continuing to make the pasta.  Once you have turned all the squash into pasta strands, place it in a skillet, add your favorite sauce or butter, and enjoy!

This is such an easy and healthy meal that everyone will love!  If you make it, comment below and tell me how you liked it and what you added to your pasta!

XOXO,

            Chelsea

Diy Honey Shampoo

Diy Honey Shampoo
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/chelsea-crockett-diy-honey-shampoo1.jpg

As you all know, I have looooong locks. Sometimes I like to try out DIY shampoos to give my hair a break from all of the harsh chemicals in regular shampoo. Want to tone down frizz and help your natural waves shine through? Try this DIY honey shampoo! Here are a few of the benefits of using it:

  • Do you have dandruff? The pH of honey is the same pH of your scalp, so it balances it out and fights dandruff?

  • Honey moisturizes your hair and since it doesn’t strip your hair of its natural oils, your hair will be softer with less frizz!

Ingredients1 honey

  • Raw honey

  • Filtered water

  • A few drops of essential oils

Make the shampoo fresh each time to prevent it from spoiling. The ratio is as follows: 1 Tbs. raw honey and 3 Tbs. filtered water. If you need to, heat the mixture over very low heat to help dissolve the honey. Add essential oils if you want to have some good smellin shampoo! Wet your hair, then massage a little of the shampoo into your scalp and then distribute it all over your hair. Let it sit, and then rinse it out!

Get ready for soft, healthy hair!

XOXO, Chels

Where Do Our Favorite Beauty Products Come From?

Where Do Our Favorite Beauty Products Come From?
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/Chelsea-Crockett-Where-Do-Our-Favorite-Beauty-Products-Come-From.jpg

Each morning we shower, apply lotions and hair products, put on our makeup, and spritz on some perfume before running out the door.  We do all of this without evening thinking about it!  So where do these products even come from?  Are they safe for us?  I broke down a few of my favorites to see what was really in them.  Keep on reading to find out some surprising facts!

  • When a perfume bottle describes its scent as floral or fruity, it’s most likely synthetic. All it takes to create a bottle of sweet smelling perfume is perfume oil, alcohol, and water. If the scent is too strong, coconut oil is sometimes added to the mixture to make it less potent.

  • Aloe is generally about as natural as it gets! It’s easy to make your own and has far less ingredients than bottles bought in stores. Dye and preservatives are added to aloe vera gel in order to give it its green color and stay fresh longer.

  • Lipstick is actually a scary product to be using around your mouth. Along with wax and lip dye, many brands, even high-end ones, tested positive for lead. Check out the list of ingredients before purchasing!Chelsea Crockett- lipstick

  • Self-tanners are a great way to get tan without hitting the tanning bed. Self-tanners contain DHA, the ingredient used to darken your skin. This used to be a concern for dermatologists, but it is now accepted and approved by many! Hey, it’s safer than a cancer-causing bed!

It’s crazy how something so “natural” can have so many added ingredients!  Always read up on your products!

XOXO,

Chelsea

Homemade Reese"s Eggs

Homemade Reese"s Eggs
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/Chelsea-crockett-homemade-reeses-eggs-.jpg

My favorite part of Spring is all of the fun Easter candy that comes with it! Especially delicious chocolately peanutbuttery Reese’s Eggs! Here is how to make these heavenly goodies all by yourself!reeses-eggs_thumb

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup peanut butter

  • ¼ cup unsalted butter

  • 8 ounces dark coca melting chips

  • 1 tsp vanilla

  • 1 ¼ cup powdered sugar

  1. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper and set it aside. In a saucepan, combine your peanut butter, vanilla, and 1 cup of powder sugar over medium heat and stir until it is all melted and bubbling a little.

  2. Remove the pan from heat and stir in the rest of the powdered sugar and stir until it is all completely combined. Set it aside and let it cool until it is room temperature. You need to chill the mixture in the fridge because it will make it easier to roll into the shape of eggs.

  3. Shape the dough into flat oval shapes and place them on the baking sheet. Freeze them for an hour or so. Melt the chocolate in the microwave until it is completely smooth and melted. Using forks, roll each egg in the chocolate and then place them in the freezer to let the chocolate harden.

Store them in the fridge and then get them out when you want to serve them! They make great Easter party goodies or awesome additions to any Easter basket.

Enjoy!

XOXO, Chels

The RIGHT Way to Use Self-Tanner

The RIGHT Way to Use Self-Tanner
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/Chelsea-Crockett-The-RIGHT-Way-to-Use-Self-Tanner.jpg

Getting tan is number one on most girls’ lists for the summer.  While lying by the pool, with sunscreen of course, is the most natural way, self-tanning lotion is another way to achieve the perfect glow without hitting the tanning bed!  While it may look like a simple lotion, prepping for self-tanner is key to an all-around, non-streaky, perfect tan. Chelsea Crockett- shaving

Self-tanner is a wonderful way to get an all-around body tan without harming your skin.  Before applying the lotion, it’s important to get your body ready.  Start by shaving your legs and exfoliating your entire body.  If your skin is dry, the tanner may peel off; likewise, a razor can strip off the tanning lotion as well.  Once you’re out of the shower, dry off as much as you possibly can.  Do not leave a drop of water!  In places that tend to be dry, such as your nose, knees, and elbows, apply a lightweight lotion to those areas and rub it in well.

Next, apply your tanner all over your body starting from the bottom up.  Remember, when applying it to your face…go light.  You don’t want to add too much to the focal point of your body!  Always wait for the lotion or spray to dry longer than it says in the directions.  For example, if it says to wait 10 minutes, wait 20.  A major problem with self-tanner is the ability for it to transfer to your clothes.  To avoid this from happening, lightly brush baby powder all over to secure your tan and avoid a clothing mishap.

There you have it!  Your 101 guide to a flawless tan!

Conquer Oily Hair!

Conquer Oily Hair!
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/Chelsea-Crockett-Conquer-Oily-Hair.jpg

Oily hair… a girl’s worst nightmare! It feels gross and looks gross. Sometimes it’s temporary due to our growth hormones…aka…puberty!  Here’s the 411: our body produces sebum which is natural grease from our scalp.  Sometimes it excretes extra sebum in response to our hormones gliding through our bodies.  Other times, people just have excess sebum production! Many times, however, we make these little mistakes!

Chelsea Crockett - Clarifying ShampooWashing your hair daily can make your oily scalp worse. It strips your hair of its natural sebum so your body produces extra to replace the natural oil that’s washed out.  So the next time you use a shampoo to dry out your scalp, be sure to look for clarifying shampoo. (But don’t over use these!)

The best way to overcome your oily scalp is to skip washing your hair. You can do this by picking a day when you will be at home and it really doesn’t matter. Give yourself some time to get used to this process. Then make it two days that you skip. Ideally, a person should be able to go 2-3 days between washing. On your days off, you can try dry shampoos and hair powders. There are quite a few options to help overcome your greasy look.

When you do shampoo your hair, remember a few of these little tricks. Use a clarifying shampoo twice a month. This will strip heavy build up from your strands. Let your hair dry naturally whenever possible. Heat tends to stimulate oil production. Also, when applying conditioner, keep it off of the scalp and mainly on the ends of your hair.

I hope these tips help you out! If you have some good advice, comment below!

XOXO, Chels

The Uses of Coconut Oil

The Uses of Coconut Oil
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/Chelsea-Crockett-Coconut-Oil.png

Ahhhh, coconuts… Not only do they taste great but smell even better! Recently, I’ve been hearing a lot about coconut oil and the benefits of it so I decided to put it to the test!  Coconut oil is filled with plenty of multi vitamins and nutrients. There are tons of different uses for it but I picked a couple particular ways to give it a go!

Chelsea Crockett - Coconut Oil ScrubThe first use is a healthy hair mask.  This is a life saver! First, you start with dry hair.  Take about 1/2 tablespoon of coconut oil and rub it between your hands.  Start with the ends of your hair and begin massaging in the oil.  Cover your strands with the oil from top to bottom.  Use a large tooth comb and comb the oil through your locks.  Next, wrap your head in a warm towel and seal it with a shower cap.  Leave this treatment on for about 30-45 minutes.  (I have a friend that even sleeps with it on her head overnight!). Shampoo twice to make sure all of the oil is removed.  Voila!  Your hair will feel soft, shiny, and renewed.

The other use is a coconut oil lemon scrub.  You mix 1 cup of sugar, 1/2 cup of coconut oil, and 1 teaspoon of lemon zest.  This will make enough of the scrub to last for quite some time.  Be sure to place it in a glass airtight container.  Use the scrub at night before bed and then apply your evening moisturizer.  It really helps to exfoliate and give your skin a glow.  The oil helps to add nutrients to your delicate facial skin without harshly drying it out.  The wonders of coconut oil seem to be endless.  Let me know below how you use it!

Motivation Inspiration!

Motivation Inspiration!
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/Chelsea-Crockett-Motivation-Inspiration.jpg

Motivation can be tough to obtain. High school, boys, a job, etc. (basically teenage life in general) can run you out of steam! The lack of motivation can kick in pretty quick. You might be striving for the perfect summer body or to feel better about yourself in general. I wanted to share with you something I recently found on Chelsea Crockett - Motivation Wall Pinterest. It’s a great way to get some energy and confidence back so you’re able to go for the goal: a motivation board!

If you’re a little confused on what I’m talking about, a perfect example is the one on the left or the one below! You can make yours any way you like. If you want more structure, create a board like the one on the left. You can make a schedule of what workouts and exercises you need to do at the gym or at home. If you’reChelsea Crockett - Motivation Board determined to lose any pounds, add in a countdown! You can decorate it with motivational quotes or pictures to give you a little inspiration when you need it!

Another way to decorate it is like the board below. If you want to take the looser, simpler route, just decorate it with several sayings that provide some encouragement. Put it in front of your mirror or on your dresser to give you a boost in the mornings before a long day of school (which I think we could all use!).

Let me know how your own board turns out :)!

Love, Chelsea

How to: Convert Dry Eye Shadow Into Creamy Eye Shadow!

How to: Convert Dry Eye Shadow Into Creamy Eye Shadow!
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/Chelsea-Crockett-Converting-Eye-Shadow.jpg

One of the most annoying things is finding an old, unused eye shadow that’s too old to put to use!  Or you could have a similar situation to mine… I have some eye shadow palettes that I use only one or two colors out of it and the rest just sit and never get used.  I recently found a “do it yourself” way to turn dry eye powder into a rich creamy shade.  I started looking at my older palettes and figured I could combine some of the colors into a cream that would be the perfect shade!Chelsea Crockett - Creamy Eye Shadow

All you have to do is grab a pretty shadow or a couple colors that would look good blended together.  After you’ve chosen your shades, grab a lotion or some Vaseline (for added sparkle…use a lotion with a shimmer to it).  Next, get a dry small container and a knife or toothpick.  Scrape some eye shadow into the bowl (mixing colors if you’d like!). Using a Q-tip, mix some lotion or Vaseline with the powder.  Remember…less is more at first.  You can always add more.  Continue to mix until all clumps are gone until you get the desired consistency you’d like.

Try applying the color to the back of your hand to make sure it blends well onto your skin.  Let me know if you try this and have any tips for me!

Tips on Picking Your Perfect College!

Tips on Picking Your Perfect College!
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/Chelsea-Crockett-College-Tips.png

This topic may not be on your radar yet, but some day it just might be.  It’s time for me to start looking at universities to attend after high school!  Crazy, right? I can’t believe how quickly my high school years are flying by. College is a major decision, and most teenagers don’t even know where to begin!  I’ve been reading about how to choose a college that’s 100% right for me. So… I’m going to share some tips that might help guide you as well! Chelsea Crockett - Colleges

First and foremost, you’ll need to decide if you want to stay close to home, stay somewhat distanced, or go far away.  You also need to consider if you want to go to a big school with 40,000 students or a smaller campus around 1,500.  Then comes COST!  Obviously the price of a university matters greatly and can most of the time be the deal breaker. You’ll need to consider your ACT score, class rank, GPA, any service projects, and other things that will help when it comes to scholarships.

Other thoughts to consider are sports, Greek life, arts, cultural groups, and community service.  I’ll want to know what the extracurricular activities are at the university I choose.  Everyone tells me that the best way to decide is to narrow down my search by looking at the above items and then to make sure I go on at least five different college visits.  Make sure to keep an open mind at each visit and see which one has that special “feel” for you!

Let me know your thoughts if you’ve been through this process! XOXO, Chelsea

Baking Soda Beauty

Baking Soda Beauty

Baking soda: we all have it sitting in our kitchen cabinets at this very moment. This underestimated powder has so many amazing beauty uses. It can be a brightener, exfoliator, acne treatment, and anti-bacterial agent. Here are a few ways you should start using baking soda in your beauty regimen!

  • For your teeth: Baking soda is a natural bleach for your teeth. In a small bowl, mix 1 tbsp of baking soda with a bit of water and salt and use it instead of toothpaste.SCRUB

  • For your hair: Shampoos and conditioners leave a lot of build-up on your hair, and baking soda can help clean that buildup off. Mix a tsp of baking soda with a cup of water and apple cider vinegar and pour this mixture over your hair. Then rinse it out.

  • For the nails: dip a soft, wet toothbrush into baking soda and use it to scrub the dead skin around your nails.

  • For exfoliation: mix 1 tbsp of baking soda with 1 tbsp of water or apple cider vinegar and scrub your skin. This will help tighten your skin pores and prevents acne because it is a natural antibacterial.

How are YOU going to use baking soda in your beauty regimen?

XOXO, Chels
