3 Times It’s Okay to Give Up

3 Times It’s Okay to Give Up
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/Chelsea-Crockett-Never-Give-Up.jpg

You always hear that giving up is never an option.  Every time you hear those two words, they automatically give off a negative connotation.  You’re always told to “never give up,” and most of the time I agree.   But in certain cases, giving up can be considered a good thing!

  1. When it comes to standards, we should give up trying to meet everyone’s expectations. Chelsea Crockett - Giving Up We’re not perfect people and we’ll never be!  Once you admit that to yourself and know you can never be what everyone wants you to be, you’ll be much happier at the end of the day.

  2. Give up complaining and a negative mindset.  Constant complaining weighs down not only yourself but those around you.  How can you be in a good mood when all you’re doing is pointing out the negatives?

  3. Give up the past.  If you can’t give up the past, then you can’t move forward.  Letting go of any mistakes or regrets that can’t be changed is healthy!  There’s no need to worry about things that are over and done with when you could be focusing on improving yourself for the future!

What are you going to give up?  Maybe the idea of perfection?  Or any negativity you’re holding onto?  If so, I urge you to do so! 🙂

5 Tips to Make Getting Out of Bed Easier

5 Tips to Make Getting Out of Bed Easier
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/Chelsea-Crockett-Getting-Out-of-Bed.jpg

For me, getting out of bed is a chore.  I can hit my snooze button again and again before I force myself to actually start my day.  If you’re a morning person, you might find it easy to hop out of bed, but for those who aren’t morning people, you could use a few tips on how to make getting out of bed an easy part of your day!

  1. Turn the temperature up in your room.Chelsea Crockett - Staying in Bed  I know for me, it’s so much harder to get out from under my warm blankets when my room is freezing cold.  Turn up the thermostat to make it easier on your body.

  2. Prepare a good breakfast to look forward to.  I’m much more willing to get out of bed when I know I have a delicious meal ahead.  I love food, so this acts as a little reward or motivator!

  3. Switch up your morning routine.  It’s hard getting out of bed when you know you have the same boring routine to go through.  Switch it up a little!  Maybe change breakfast meals or workout in the morning instead of after school.

  4. Go to sleep earlier.  This may seem like common sense, but getting a good amount of sleep will make you feel more alive in the morning!

  5. Open up your blinds or curtains.  This might seem like the last thing you want to do, but if your room is pitch-black, you’ll never want to get out of bed!

I hope this makes your mornings a little less dreadful!

Pumpkin Pie For Breakfast!

Pumpkin Pie For Breakfast!
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/chelsea-crockett-pumpkin-pie-for-breakfast.jpg

Not gunna lie, I’ve already had a pumpkin spice latte…or two…and it isn’t even October yet. Let’s all stop pretending like we are going to wait until it is actually fall to start enjoying pumpkin flavored everything. Let us also not forget that pumpkin pie can be enjoyed in breakfast form! Here is a yummy, easy, quick and healthy pumpkin pie chia pudding recipe for those of us who love to enjoy pumpkin pie, no matter the time of day.

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup chia seedsoptimized-pumpkin-pie-chia-pudding-21

  • 1 cup pumpkin puree

  • 1 1/2 cups unsweetened almond milk

  • 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

  • 1/2 to 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice

You will make this in 2 separate mason jars, so divide all of your ingredients in half.  Combine half of the chia seeds, pumpkin, milk, syrup, vanilla, and pumpkin spice in one of the jars, then repeat with the rest of the ingredients in the other jar. Close each jar tight and shake them well until everything is combined. Let them sit in the fridge for at least 2 hours but it is better if it is overnight. The pudding is ready to eat when you take it out of the fridge! You can even top it with whipped cream if you want.

Not only is this pudding yummy, it also has tons of fiber so it will keep you full and energized all morning. It is quick to make, and it is a great on-the-go breakfast when you know you are going to have a rushed morning.

5 Foods To Help You Sleep

5 Foods To Help You Sleep
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/chelsea-crockett-foods-that-have-you-sleep.jpg

Do you have trouble falling asleep? Instead of taking sleeping pills that are not good for your health in the long run, why not try a natural solution? If you are having trouble falling asleep or staying asleep, I have a better solution. Eat! Try eating any of the following five foods the next time you want to catch some quality ZZZzzz’s.

  1. Honey: Add some honey to warm herbal tea and sip on it a few hours before you plan on hopping in bed. The little bit of glucose found in honey lowers levels or orexin, which is a neurotransmitter that raises your level of alertness.

  2. Whole grains: If you are feeling awake at bedtime, grab some whole grain toast. Whole grains encourage the production of insulin, which helps get a natural sedative to your brain.54ff28585ff9b-rby-foods-awake-sleep-oatmeal-istock-de

  3. Bananas: Instead of a sleeping pill, grab a banana instead. These yummy yellow fruits are high in potassium, which is essential to having a deep night’s sleep. Bananas also contain tryptophan and magnesium, which makes them nature’s perfect sedative.

  4. Nuts: Grab a handful of nuts before bed to help boost serotonin levels in your brain, and to also give your body a healthy dose of magnesium and tryptophan .

  5. Oats: Melatonin, which is a hormone that helps controls your body’s sleep and wake cycle, is found naturally in oats. Have a small bowl of oatmeal before bed if you need help snoozing.

Eating my way to sleep sounds like a good plan to me. 🙂

5 Worst Foods For Your Skin

5 Worst Foods For Your Skin
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/chelsea-crockett-5-worst-foods-for-your-skin.jpg

One of the most unfortunate facts of life is that the foods we tend to love the most are the ones that are the worst for us. McDonald’s French fries for example. Ugh. Not only are a lot of the foods we love bad for our body, they are also bad for our skin! Just how bad are certain foods for your skin? Let’s rank them from bad to worst.

  1. Sodium: Eating too many foods that are high in salt leads to flaky, dry skin because sodium absorbs moisture. Foods like soy sauce, cured meet, instant soup, cheese, and fast food are all high in sodium. So if you are going to indulge in them, make sure you stay hydrated to keep your skin from drying out.teeccino5

  2. Wheat: Wheat is difficult for our bodies to digest and can lead to breakouts. Wheat is in a lot of the other types of foods that aren’t super great for our skin, like processed baked goods and high-glycemic foods. Watch out for wheat!

  3. Dairy: Consuming dairy can aggravate your skin, especially if your skin is prone to break outs. The dairy in foods like yogurt, cheese, ice cream and milk may stimulate the oil production of your skin which causes breakouts and, well, oily skin! If you are a dairy lover like me, try and find the “fat free” dairy products, which are found to not contribute to acne.

  4. Processed foods: These foods have a lot of additives and preservatives, plus other ingredients that can cause inflammation of your skin in the form of redness and blotchiness. Watch out for processed baked goods like muffins and donuts!

  5. Sugar and high glycemic foods: When sugars bind to proteins and fats in our bodies, it creates molecules that age our skin. They aid in wrinkle formation and can dull our skin tone. They can also cause fluctuations in hormones that can over-stimulate our oil glands which triggers breakouts! Avoid foods like pastries, bagels, candy, sugary cereals, and juices with hidden sugars to avoid breakouts and premature aging.

Now, this doesn’t mean you shouldn’t eat any of these foods ever. Just consume them in moderation! A pastry every once in a while is not the worst thing in the world. Just try to minimize how much of these foods you eat to avoid their adverse effects on your skin.

What is Clean Eating?

What is Clean Eating?
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/chelsesa-crckett-what-is-clean-eating.jpg

I have been hearing the phrase “eat-clean-2clean eating” a lot lately. What exactly IS clean eating? I always knew it had to do with eating healthy and weight loss, but I never really knew exactly what it entailed.  Clean eating is simple. It is the concept of eating healthy, whole, unprocessed foods.  Here is a little more info on what clean eating is. Who knows, maybe you will want to try it out for yourself!

  1. Choose foods that are unrefined: This means that you eat more whole grains like quinoa and beans as well. Clean sugars are sugars like honey, agave, and maple syrup.

  2. Be aware of salt, sugar, and fat: When you cut out processed foods, it makes it a lot easier to do this! These are responsible for a lot of the extra calories we take in every day. Clean foods are naturally low in those three things.

  3. Don’t drink your calories: High calorie drinks like flavored coffee and soft drinks add an extra four to five hundred calories a day. Yikes! Choose water or green tea instead.

  4. Include carbs, fat, and protein in every meal: We usually get enough carbs and fat in our diet, but a lot of times we lack protein. Protein is important when you are trying to build muscle and can also keep you fuller longer.

  5. Minimize processed food: Try and focus on eating natural foods, not foods that are out of a box or can.

I am trying my best to eat clean, and if you want to live a healthy lifestyle, then you will too!
