Fall Olive Green Style

Fall Olive Green Style
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/chelsea-crockett-olive-green-style.jpg

Olive green is one of those colors that looks good on everyone. It is also one of fall’s favorite hues! Olive green pairs well with many colors, and is a more exciting neutral than tan or brown. Here are my favorite ways to mix and match olive green into my autumn outfits.

  1. Layered with a vest: This is the most subtle way to wear olive green. You can layer an olive vest over a patterned button-up for a classic fall look. You can take it off if you get too warm, which is what happens most of the time where I live. Fall mornings are chilly, but the afternoons get warm. A vest gives your outfit a casual yet preppy feel.

  2. Cozy in a cardigan: I love a long cardigan. My favorite are the ones that are long enough to hit at your knees. They are slimming and make me look taller! Pair a long olive cardigan with a light-colored sweater and brown boots for a neutral, understated yet stylish look.

  3. Time for a turtle neck: In the last few years turtle necks have really made a comeback. Not only do they keep you cozy and warm, they are also stylish! Pair an olive green turtle neck sweater with a black leather jacket and ripped black skinny jeans for an edgy, fun fall look.

Happy fall, y’all!

S"Mores Bark

S"Mores Bark
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/chelsea-crockett-smores-bark.jpg

S’mores are fall’s favorite treat. Not only do you get to cozy up to a fire while you make them, but they are so ooey and gooey and delicious. Not all of us have access to a bonfire whenever we feel the urge to enjoy a s’more, so that is where s’mores bark comes in. You can make this inside and enjoy it from the comfort of your kitchen! Plus, it is easily share-able.

Ingredients:

  • 3 ½ cups milk chocolate chips

  • ½ cup white chocolate chips

  • 1 cup marshmallow fluff

  • 3 sheets of graham crackers

Melt 1 ½ cups of chocolate chips and spread it over a pan covered in wax paper. Make sure the chocolate is layered thick. Refrigerate this for about an hour. Meanwhile, melt the white chocolate chips in the microwave. Then add in the marshmallow fluff and microwave it for about 30 seconds. Quickly spread the marshmallow and white chocolate layer over the hardened first chocolate layer. Crumble the graham crackers and press them into the marshmallow/chocolate layer. Refrigerate for 30 minutes, meanwhile melting 2 cups of chocolate chips. Spread this over the graham cracker layer and put it in the fridge for 2 hours. Take it out and break it apart. Store it in the fridge if you want a solid bark, and if you want it squishy leave it out in a covered container.

Yum!

Pumpkin Spice Puppy Chow

Pumpkin Spice Puppy Chow
https://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/chelsea-crockett-Pumpkin-Spice-Puppy-Chow.jpg

Puppy chow is probably on my list of top 10 favorite foods. Not even kidding. I cannot stop myself when there is a bowl of it in front of me. It just magically disappears. Since fall is upon us and everything is now pumpkin flavored, what sounds better than pumpkin flavored puppy chow? Not much. Not much at all. Here is how to make pumpkin spice puppy chow!

Ingredients:

  • 7-8 cups Cinnamon Chex cereal

  • 12 ounces orange candy melts

  • 3 teaspoons ground cinnamon

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves

  • 1/4 teaspoon allspice

  • 1 cup powdered sugar

  • 1-2 cups candy pumpkins

Pour the Chex cereal into a bowl and put to the side. Melt the candy melts for 20 seconds, stir, melt, and stir until they are melted. Stir 2 teaspoons of cinnamon, the cloves, allspice and nutmeg in to the candy melts until it is combined. Pour this mixture onto the cereal and stir gently to coat all of the squares. Be super gentle! Pour the powdered sugar and 1 tsp of cinnamon into a large Ziploc baggie. Pour in the coated squares and shake until they are all coated in sugar. Pour in the pumpkins and toss some more. Store it in an air tight container, or just eat them all right then and there! No judgments here.

Enjoy!

XOXO, Chels

Pumpkin S"Mores Bars

Pumpkin S"Mores Bars
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/chelsea-crockett-Pumpkin-SMores-Bars.jpg

Two things come to mind when I think about fall snacks: Pumpkins and s’mores. Why not combine the two for a sweet, festive goodie! I think these are great bonfire snacks, or something cute to make for your bf as a random treat!

Ingredients:

  • 1 can pure pumpkin

  • ½ cup butter, cut into pieces

  • ½ cup milk

  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • 1 cup crushed graham crackers

  • 12 graham cracker squares

  • 2 cups miniature marshmallows (separated)

  • 1 1/3 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Preheat your oven to 450 degrees. Line a baking dish with foil. Next, heat the pumpkin, butter, milk and cinnamon in a small saucepan over low heat until the butter is melted and the mixture is heated. Stir in graham cracker crumbs. Remove from heat.

Lay out the graham cracker squares on the bottom of the baking dish. Spread half of the pumpkin mixture on top of graham crackers. Sprinkle 1 cup of marshmallows and 2/3 cup of chocolate chips over pumpkin mixtures. Spread remaining pumpkin mixture over marshmallows and chocolate chips. Sprinkle the rest of the marshmallows and chocolate chips. Bake for 3 to 5 minutes or until the marshmallows are golden. Let it cool, refrigerate for an hour, then enjoy!

Deeeeelish.

Caramel Apple Slice Popsicles

Caramel Apple Slice Popsicles
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/chelsea-crockett-Caramel-Apple-Slice-Popsicles.jpg

Happy (almost) fall y’all! The weather where I live is starting to change and get cooler, and I love it. You can smell fall in the air! Pumpkin spiced everything is back, the leaves are starting to change, fall is just the best! Caramel apples are another deliciously wonderful thing about autumn. The only problem with them is that they are so messy and hard to eat. Here is an easy way to enjoy caramel apples in a bite-sized

way!

Ingredients:

  • 2 very large Fuji apples

  • 3 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil

  • 1 cup caramels, melted

  • Chopped pecans

  • Popsicle sticks

Slice the apples into half inch slices. Remove the seeds. Melt chocolate in microwave for 2 minutes, then stir in coconut oil until smooth. Dip the apple slices in chocolate and place them on a parchment paper lined cookie sheet. Place the caramels in a glass bowl and microwave for 40-60 seconds. Stir until smooth, and drizzle the melted caramel over the apples and sprinkle with nuts. Refrigerate them for an hour, then enjoy!

This is perfect for when you have a sweet tooth but don’t want to make the commitment to a whole desert.

Candy Corn Sugar Scrub

Candy Corn Sugar Scrub
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/chelsea-crockett-candy-corn-sugar-scrub.jpg

For most people cool weather = dry skin. Dry skin = bad news. Sugar scrubs are one of my favorite dry skin remedies because they smell heavenly and make my skin feel incredibly smooth. To celebrate the start of the cool-weather seasons, aka FALL YA’LL, here is a recipe for pumpkin vanilla sugar scrub! It layers vanilla scrub with vanilla-pumpkin scrub to create a “candy corn” look. What could be more festive than that?

Ingredients

  • Vanilla Sugar Scrub
    • 1 cup sugar

    • 1/4 cup coconut oil

    • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • Vanilla- Pumpkin Sugar Scrub
    • 2 cups sugar

    • 1/2 cup coconut oil

    • 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice

    • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

    • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

    • 1/8 teaspoon ground clove

    • Optional: red and yellow liquid food coloring

Vanilla Sugar Scrub:

Heat the coconut oil on the stove until it is melted. Add in the vanilla extract and stir until fully combined. Add vanilla and coconut mixture to the sugar and stir.

Vanilla-Pumpkin Sugar Scrub:

Heat the coconut oil on the stove until it is melted. Add in the spices and vanilla, and stir until fully combined. Add the liquid to the sugar and stir it together. Right now the mixture will be a light brown color. Divide it into two bowls for coloring if you want it to look like candy corn!

  • To create the yellow layer
    • 4 drops of yellow food coloring

  • To create the orange layer
    • 4 drops of yellow and 3 drops of red for the red layer.

    • No worries, this amount of food coloring will not color your skin!

Scrub that dry skin away, and smell like a pumpkin pie while doing it. I call that a win-win. 😉

XOXO, Chels

5 Upcoming Hair Trends for Fall

5 Upcoming Hair Trends for Fall
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/PicMonkey-Image-1.jpg

Hair trends are like any other trend, they stay for a season or two then get replaced by even better ones!  This fall, there are a few upcoming looks that you just might have to try out for yourself!  Here are 5 hair trends you should know about for the upcoming season!

  • Caramel Brown.  Winter is usually the time to go darker rather than lighter with your hair.  But if you don’t want to go too dark, go with a soft, caramel brown!  You can still switch up your look without going too out of your comfort zone.

  • Rose.  If you’re willing to get a little out of your comfort zone, try out a dusty rose color.  Pastel hair has become a trend in the past few years so why not hop on the bandwagon and try it out for yourself!

  • Red Accents/Highlights.  I’ve always been a little tempted to try this trend out for myself.  You can get a subtle red tint or go for a full head of vibrant, red highlights.  Whatever suits you best!

  • Bold Brown.  Instead of adding subtle brown highlights, be bold and go for a dark, chocolate brown.  Why not, right?!

  • Blonde Lowlights.  If you want something a little more natural, try blonde lowlights.  Although you can only get these if you’re already blonde, they give you that darker tint that’s perfect for the winter!

Be daring this fall and give one of these a try!  Hey, you can always dye it back right? 🙂

Athleisure Style This Fall and Winter

Athleisure Style This Fall and Winter
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/chelsea-crockett-athleisure.jpg

Athleisure is an up-and-coming trend that I am loving, I have to admit. Athleisure is casual clothing like yoga pants, sweat pants, and pullovers that are designed to be worn for both exercising and pretty much everything else. So, they are athletic clothes that are stylish and functional, meaning you can wear them to the gym and then to the grocery store and look stylin’ while doing both. This trend is both comfy and trendy, so I am ready to hop on board. Here are 3 athleisure looks to try this fall and winter.

  1. Super casual: In this style we see workout leggings paired with a loose tank top layered under a simple pullover. The outfit is finished off with some slip-on sneakers. I like this look because it is effortless and really casual, but it is also comfy and can be worn out and about.0c6ead14e21331bfc652272ade7c4ab4

  2. Cute and comfy: This next look pairs workout leggings with some Hunter boots, and white long-sleeve tee layered under a cute thermal pullover and puffy vest. This style is really preppy and cute while also being comfy and practical.5939f30b8b4c520aa203b4e31589e4a5

  3. Trendy and effortless: This next look is the most complex, but is also my personal favorite. This look pairs some workout leggings with awesome textured patches on the knees, a white long-sleeve tee, and a green army jacket with an infinity scarf to top it off. The tennis shoes keep the outfit athletic while the army jacket takes it to a more “street-worthy” state.3eedbd2995cf26b1f16332744e2b1fc2

I love outfits that I can wear straight from the gym to run errands, or just to be comfy while I’m out and about! Athletic clothes can be dressed up in so many ways to make them more “outfit” ready. Who says comfy can’t also be cute?

XOXO, Chels

Thanksgiving Inspired Milkshake: Candy Corn Edition

Thanksgiving Inspired Milkshake: Candy Corn Edition
https://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/chelsea-crockett-candy-corn-milkshake.jpg

Candy corn. It’s EVERYWHERE! Luckily, I am a lover of the sweet stuff, so it doesn’t bother me one bit. In fact, I embrace it, and try to make everything I can with it! Here is a candy corn inspired milk shake that is sure to rock your world.

Ingredients:

  • 1 quart vanilla ice cream

  •  1 quart orange sherbet

  •  Whipped cream or Cool White

  • Yellow Food Coloring

  • Black yellow & orange sprinklescandy-corn2-jpg

Let the vanilla ice cream soften for about 25 minutes outside of the freezer. After it is softened take 1/3 of the ice cream and put it into a bowl. Put the ice cream back in the freezer. Add yellow food coloring to the ice cream in the bowl until you have the color you want. Mix it well. Take your orange sherbet out of the freezer to allow it to start softening. Get out the glasses you will be serving your milk shakes in, whether it is mason jars or glass drinking glasses, and spoon yellow ice cream into the bottoms, filling the cups about 1/3 full. After smoothing out the top as evenly as you can, wipe down the inside of the cups with a paper towel to remove ice cream streaks. Place your cups in the freezer for about 5-10 minutes to let the layer harden a little. Take your vanilla ice cream out of the freezer again to allow it to start softening. Remove the cups from the freezer and carefully spoon in the orange sherbet, layering it on top of the yellow and filling the cups about 2/3 full. Again, smooth out the top. Wipe the excess on the inside of the cups with a paper towel. Place the cups back in the freezer for 5-10 minutes. Remove the cups from the freezer and add the last layer of vanilla ice cream, filling the cups with 1/2 inch left at the top of the cup. Smooth out the tops again. If you want you can top them off with some whipped cream and sprinkles! Keep them in the freezer until you serve them.

They’re sure to be a hit at every Thanksgiving party on the block!

XOXO, Chels

Fall"s Favorite Pattern - Plaid

Fall"s Favorite Pattern - Plaid
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/chelsea-crockett-falls-favorite-pattern-plaid.jpg

To me, one of the classiest, most preppy patterns is plaid. Wouldn’t you agree? The best time to wear plaid is during the autumn and winter months, and luckily those months are upon us! Here are a few of my favorite ways to pair up plaid this season.

  1. Dress it up: Layer a chunky cable knit sweater over a plaid skirt or dress for a layered fall look. Add in some booties and a felt hat to complete the ensemble! I love this pairing because it is just too cute for words! So pretty and preppy.13497777_912703465506195_5742700925156432790_o

  2. Layer it up: Pair your favorite plaid flannel with a puffy or faux fur vest for a cute, simple, everyday look! Add some brown riding boots and you are good to go. If you want something casual, pair a solid long sleeved tee with dark pants and a plaid flannel wrapped around your waist.

  3. Scarf it up: The easiest way to wear plaid this season is to wear it in scarf form! Pair a plaid scarf or blanket scarf with your favorite sweater to add a little extra oomf to your outfit.

Ahh plaid, you never disappoint! There are so many more options on how to wear plaid, this is just a few! Comment below with some other outfit ideas on how to wear this preppy pattern.

DIY Healthy Pumpkin Coffee Creamer

DIY Healthy Pumpkin Coffee Creamer
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/chelsea-crockett-DIY-Healthy-Pumpkin-Coffee-Creamer.jpg

Pumpkin spice lattes are all the rage this time of year. I mean, it can be 85 degrees outside and girls will still be sipping on them. I love buying pumpkin flavored coffee creamer, but what I don’t love is what I see on the ingredients label. Store bought coffee creamer is packed with preservatives and chemicals, things our bodies do NOT need. Luckily, there is a way to make homemade pumpkin coffee creamer that is non-dairy and guilt-free! Your body AND your taste buds will love this recipe.

Ingredients:desktop-diy_pumpkin_pie_spice_coffee_creamer

  • 2 cups of original almond milk or soy milk

  • 2 tbsp canned or fresh mashed pumpkin, NOT pumpkin pie filling

  • 2 tbsp maple syrup or agave

  • 1 tsp cinnamon

  • 1/3 tsp nutmeg

  • 1/3 tsp ground ginger

  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

If you want you can substitute the cinnamon, nutmeg, and ground ginger for “pumpkin pie spice” store bought spice. Whisk all of the ingredients except the vanilla together in a saucepan over medium/high heat. Heat until it is steaming but not boiling. Whisk in the vanilla and let the mixture cool. Pour it into a jar, shake it, and then store it in the fridge. It is literally that easy to make your own coffee creamer!

I cannot wait to try this, I plan on making my own coffee creamer concoctions more often!

Fall Peplum Style

Fall Peplum Style
https://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/chelsea-crockett-fall-peplum-style.jpg

When you think of peplum style tops, you probably think of summer and spring because they are flowy and light. But, fall is also a great time for peplum tops. Here are my favorite ways to style these fun, cute tops during the cold fall weather!

  1. Cozy and casual: I love cozy tops like this. They are tight at the top and then flare out at the bottom, so they show your curves while still being loose and cozy. You can wear this cozy top with jeans or leggings for a comfy cold-weather outfit.ec18ed85cf1bd9e031c7a424fbcf8633

  2. Pretty and plaid: Fall is all about plaid! I love the combo of plaid and peplum because it is a more feminine flare on your typical plaid button-up shirt. Paired with some dark jeans and nude booties, it is the perfect fall outfit! Id wear this anywhere from the pumplin patch to out to a casual dinner out.

  3. Whistful and fun: This is a more trendy look at your fall peplum style! Bell-sleve shirts are really in, and this sort of shirt is “hippie-chic.” I love how it is paired with lace-up flats and distressed skinny jeans. I think this is a great everyday look for the fashion lover in all of us!

Have fun playing up your feminie side with peplum shirts this fall!

2016 Fall Bucket List

2016 Fall Bucket List
https://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/Chelsea-Crockett-Fall-Bucket-List.jpg

Fall festivities are some of the best of the entire year!  Apart from breaking out my boots and sweaters, I’m getting ready for all the bonfires and haunted houses I plan to attend!  There are so many different ways to spend your fall, so I put together a fun bucket list for you and your friends to get the most out of this season!

  • Go on a hike.  Fall is the best time of the year to go on a hike.  It’s the perfect weather to be outside.  You also get to see all of the leaves changing colors! (Plus, being active never hurts!)

  • Halloween time is the best time for a scary movie night with your BFFs! Chelsea Crockett - Halloween Treat  If you’re not into scary movies, you can always watch some classic Halloween movies such as Hocus Pocus or Halloween Town!

  • Bake, bake, bake!  There are so many festive treats to make like the picture on the right that’ll make your mouth water.

  • Carve a pumpkin (and eat the pumpkin seeds!).  Whenever my family carves pumpkins, we always salt and bake the seeds at the end.  Not only do you get a jack-o-lantern out of it but a yummy snack, too!

  • Go to a haunted house or trail.  You can’t have Halloween without a little scare!

  • Make s’mores.  If you have a bonfire, s’mores along with apple cider are a necessity!  Fun fact: even if you don’t have a bonfire, there are ways to make them using your microwave!

  • Have a fall photoshoot.  It’s so fun to dress up in sweaters and boots and take fun pictures outside with your friends!  At least it makes for a good Instagram post, right?

What else do you have on your fall bucket list? If you haven’t made one, I urge you to make the best of this season!

XOXO – Chelsea

DIY Apple Face Mask Recipe

DIY Apple Face Mask Recipe
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/Chelsea-Crockett-Apple-Face-Mask.jpg

One of my favorite things about fall is the abundance of apple flavored treats, scented candles, etc.  Even better than buying it in the store, you can create your own DIY apple face mask!  Not only do you get an amazing fall face mask out of it but a fun DIY craft, as well!  Here’s how to make your own. 🙂

Because of apple’s hard texture, you’ll need a blender to make this mask into a paste that you can apply to your skin.  Chelsea Crockett - Apple Face Mask MixChop up half an apple into small pieces and blend them together in the blender.  Heat up a small amount of milk and add a tablespoon of warm milk to the blender.  You’ll then take an egg and add the yolk to the mixture, as well!  Before blending in the yolk, I suggest stirring it to evenly distribute it.  You can even add in a tablespoon of oatmeal to thicken up the mixture and make it more spreadable!  Spread the mask on your face and let it sit for 10-15 minutes.  Rinse with warm water and enjoy your new soft skin!

I hope you like this apple scented face mask as much as I do!  Not only does it smell good, but it leaves your face feeling clean and hydrated!

Love, Chelsea

Simple Halloween Makeup 2016

Simple Halloween Makeup 2016
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/Chelsea-Crockett-Halloween-Makeup.jpg

Halloween is the only time of the year that you can play dress up no matter how old you are!  I always love taking it to the next level and going all out with my Halloween makeup.  There are hundreds of different looks you can try, but I wanted to pick some of the simpler ones to share with you all!  Makeup might not be your best talent, so here are some easy-to-do tutorials!

Zombie makeup is always super easy to pull off.  Last year, I had to work an event at my school and had to dress up as a zombie!  I went all out and put makeup all over my body (as you can see in the picture above)! Chelsea Crockett - Rainbow Filter Makeup For this look, I used a lighter foundation for my face to make it look pale.  I then took black and purple eyeshadow to give my eyes and cheeks a hollowed look. Depending on how much you want to add, apply different shades of red paint to your face, arms, etc. for fake blood!  Most Halloween stores will even sell paint for this exact use!

Being a Snapchat filter is such a fun and trendy way to show off your makeup skills this year!  The two easiest looks to try out are the rainbow and deer filters!  Once again, Halloween stores will sell face paint that’s made just for this purpose.  Painting on the filter like the picture on the left isn’t hard to do!  As for the deer filter, simply using a contour kit, black eyeliner, and concealer will seal the deal.  Just google it and a picture will show up for you to go off of!

What are you being for Halloween this year?  Let me know in the comment section below!

Happy Halloween! – Chels

Quick & Simple DIY Group Halloween Costumes

Quick & Simple DIY Group Halloween Costumes
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/Chelsea-Crockett-Group-Halloween-Costumes.jpg

Dressing up for Halloween never gets old.  Whether you’re 5 or 25, everyone finds a little bit of enjoyment in finding the perfect costume!  Although there’s nothing wrong with dressing up solo, getting your friends together to pull off an awesome group costume makes the night even more memorable!

  • If you need something super quick and simple, emoji t-shirts are the answer!  All you need to do is purchase plain yellow t-shirts from Walmart, Target, etc.  Pick your fave emoji and create the face on your shirt using whatever color felt material you need.  Simply cut out the shapes and hot glue each piece of felt onto your shirt!Chelsea Crockett - Emoji Costumes

  • If you have a big enough group, be the seven dwarves from Snow White!  All you need are different colored long-sleeved shirts (colors that the dwarves wear), beanies, felt (black, yellow, and white), laced boots, and high white socks.  For the white felt, cut letters and hot glue them to the shirt to spell out whoever you are, whether it be Happy or Sleepy!  With the black felt, make a belt with a square yellow buckle on the front.  After you do this, you’re set!

  • Basing costumes off you and your friend’s favorite movie is easy and such a fun idea!  There are so many movies to pull costume ideas from such as Disney movies, Mean Girls, etc.  Pick the easiest and best one to go off of and go from there!

Let me know below what you and your friends are being for Halloween!  You never know, I may need some help myself!

Happy Halloween! – Chelsea
