I am pretty sure every exfoliating teenage girl is familiar with sugar scrubs, but how many of us know about SALT scrubs? In this article I am going to lay out what both sugar and salt scrubs are and how they differ so you can choose which is best for you! It is important to use some sort of scrub to exfoliate your skin to open your pores so your skin can do what it is supposed to do, which is to get rid of toxins!

Salt scrubs: One thing you need to make sure of when using a salt scrub is that it is made I with sea salt. Using table salt is useless here because only sea salt can help draw out toxins in your body. Salt scrubs are usually used for dryer areas of your body such as your knees and elbows because salt is a lot coarser and sharper than sugar. Avoid sensitive areas when using a salt scrub and also avoid cuts…we all know what happens when you get salt in a wound! OUCH!double-bubble-sugar-scrub-for-teens-8-oz-4785-1

Sugar scrubs: These scrubs can be made with table or unrefined sugar. Table sugar is really great to use on your face because the granules are rounder than those of sea salt, so they are a lot gentler on areas with sensitive skin. Also, sugar scrubs dissolve relatively quickly in water and leave your skin feeling silky smooth! If you are looking for an all-over scrub that you can use everywhere on your body, go with a scrub made from unrefined cane sugar because it is slightly more abrasive than table sugar but it is not as irritating as salt.

There are tons of recipes out there for diy scrubs (especially on this website, hint hint!). What makes these scrubs even better is that they are all natural, so you know you aren’t using any harsh chemicals on your skin!

Happy scrubbing!
