The biggest shift in seasons happens between summer and fall. The clothing gets heavier, colors get darker, and the feel of the season is moodier. Your makeup reflects these changes! Here are a few ways to update your look from summer dew to autumn hues and the products to help you do so.

1. Copper orange: Reds and oranges are fall’s version of neutrals. Copper is the perfect in-between color. Try some warm hues on your eyelids with Urban Decay’s “Naked” Heat pallet. I love these tones, they give you a smoldering stare.


2. Dark red: Deep red is fall’s staple color. There’s always the classic red lip color, but there is also another great way to wear shades of red, and that is on your cheeks! Swipe some rosy red cheek stain across your cheeks for color that will last all day long. The color is glamorous and just dramatic enough.


3. Earthy brown: Brown tones may sound boring, but they can add major drama to your look. Smudge some brown under your eyes for a fall smoky eye, or use brown gel liner on your top lid for a more natural look.


4. Pearly shimmer: Today’s makeup looks are all about the glow. Use a pearly metallic highlighter to accentuate your natural radiance.

I love that when the leaves change, so do makeup shades. This season, burgundy is the “it” color when it comes to makeup. This hue looks great on all skin tones and isn’t too edgy. It looks great on eyes, lips, and even cheeks! Here are a few burgundy looks to try this fall.

1. Bold lip: I love the way Lily Collins wears the look here. She pairs her bold lip with simple eye makeup to keep the look balanced. If you are more into subtle makeup, then this look is a great alternative. The eyes keep it simple while the lips make a statement.


2. On the eyes: Another subtle way to work burgundy into your makeup routine is on the eyes. I love Gigi’s smoky eye here. She keeps the look simple by pairing the burgundy eyes with a nude lip.


3. Go bold: Cara Delevingne rocks the bold burgundy lips and bold smoky eye flawlessly. If you want to be more bold, then go for this sort of pair! This probably isn’t a great “everyday” look, but more of a “special occasion” look.

Now is the time to take your makeup routine from “fun and summer-y” to “fabulous and fall-y”. Summer makeup is all about soft tones, sheer coverage and natural vibes. Fall is about rich hues, smoky eyes and trendy tones. I’ll fill you in on how to transition your makeup routine from summer to fall!

1. Start with the lips. During the summer I love wearing pink and coral colored lip shades. This fall opt for sheer, translucent stains of plum or burgundy. Last year’s lip trend was opaque oxblood, but this year it is a little more subdued.
2. Next follow up with the eyes. Trade out neutral shadows with this year’s hottest eye trend: crimson. Create a smoky eye with crimson and russet tones.
3. Figure out the finish. Summer makeup is dewy and makes your face glow, where as usual fall foundation has a matte finish. This year, avoid the “flat” look by using foundations and powders that allow your natural complexion to show through.
4. Make your moisturizer count. In the summer you sweat a lot and the humidity keeps your skin nice and moist. Cooler times call for different measures. Cold temps dry out your skin, so use creamy cleansers and moisturizers to make sure your face gets the moisture it needs!

Thanksgiving Day is just a few days away, which means you need turkey day makeup ideas under your belt! There are thanksgiving parties to attend and family to see! Here are a few Thanksgiving Day makeup tips!

For the eyes: Go for a soft metallic smoky eye, like this one! Gold and brown tones are key for this look. The metallic warm colors are a subtle, warm way to accent your eyes.

For the cheeks: Rosy cheeks are a must! Don’t be afraid to blush it up. The overall goal of this look is to give off a subtle warm glow!

For the lips: You want your lip color to last through Thanksgiving dinner and pumpkin pie, so go with a lip stain! You might want to re-apply after dinner just to touch it up, but overall your lip stain should last you quite a while! Go with a muted cherry lip color for a dewy, gentle pop of color.

Like I said, this look is all about giving off a subtle glow. Subtleness is key, when you are having Thanksgiving with your family you don’t want your makeup to overpower you! Accenting your natural beauty is the goal. J
