As you age, you not only grow physically, but mentally as well.  It’s important to put yourself in challenging situations to learn how to manage on your own and become more mature.  Although it may seem hard to step out of your comfort zone, your future self with thank you for it!

If you’re in high school and nervous about going to college, follow your gut!  If you’ve always dreamed of going away for school, then do it.  Don’t let your family or friends talk you out of anything you have your heart set on.  If you have an idea what you want to do for your future career, always research jobs paths so you can go into a program with confidence!

If you get the chance to travel, take every opportunity!  Immersing yourself in another culture is one of the best ways to grow.  If you study abroad and learn to live in a foreign land, you’ll notice that you grow up quickly.  You’ll also have a better appreciate for the world and your own country, city, or small town.  Being away from close family and friends for an extended period of time will make you realize how much they actually do for you and how much they mean to you.

Growing up happens to all of us, but growing as a person takes time.

As the saying goes, “You get more out of sugar than you do out of vinegar.”  Translation: you get more out of being nice to people than being mean to them.  It’s true!  Being nice really does pay off!  It’s easy to turn the other cheek to people you don’t like, but in the long run, you’ll never regret the times you were nice to someone.

People come and go in your life, but you never know when you may run into someone again.  That boy you were mean to in high school?  He could be your dentist one day.  That nerd you didn’t speak to?  She might be one of your children’s college professors.  Running into your past is just a fact of life!  That’s why it is important to be nice to everyone.  Although it can be tough, make it a challenge to smile to someone new each day or strike up a conversation with someone you may not have the best relationship with.

Being nice to someone that you don’t like isn’t being fake; it’s called growing up and being mature.  Always try and be the bigger person.  Who knows what that’ll get you!  I promise you will go far in life if you treat others the right way.  It might just help you on your road to success in school, athletics, or your future career.

A lot goes into a relationship.  Unfortunately, it isn’t as easy as some may think.  It’s important to make sure you and your significant other are ready and mature enough before jumping into things.  You want the best relationship possible, right?!  Although I am no expert on relationships, I do have a few pointers to see if you’re ready for a boyfriend….or nah!

1. If you feel like you need a boyfriend to make you feel complete, then you are not ready. You need to find out who are truly are before relying on another person. Knowing yourself is the first step to being happy.


2. Sexual relationships are the wrong kind of relationships. A relationship should be based off a sense of friendship, making the other happy, and truly loving them for them! If your relationship is only based on sex, then you’re in it for the wrong reasons.


3. It’s important to accept people for who they are. If you start to pick out everything that is wrong about someone, then you will eventually make yourself miserable in the relationship. Everyone has their flaws! No one is perfect!


4. If you feel the need to always have a guy, then you need to take a moment and look at yourself. If you’re going from boyfriend to boyfriend, then you are not ready for a relationship. Wait until you find someone that really makes you happy and someone you could see yourself with for a long period of time.


5. NEVER change who you are for a guy. If you feel the need to change yourself, then move on! There are plenty of fish in the sea. The right guy will come around who likes you for you.

Finding a boyfriend can be tricky, but finding the “one” is even harder!  It’s okay to be cautious when it comes to your next relationship…you want it to be a good one!
