How to Keep White Shoes Squeaky Clean

How to Keep White Shoes Squeaky Clean

White shoes look awesome the first week you have them, then it is downhill from there. They only stay white for a short time, and then they turn a queasy shade of brown that is extremely unappealing. I have a pair of white Keds that are my everyday go-to shoes, and they get dirty so quickly! Luckily there is an easy way to get your favorite white converse or canvas shoes squeaky clean!

  1. Take the laces out” This will make it easier to clean them! You can clean the laces by by letting them soak in a bucket of warm, soapy water.8e9c5af696880cca661a7e42e7df729e
  2. Rinse them: Rinse your shoes in cold water in a sink.
  3. Make a paste: Combine baking soda and vinegar, enough to form a paste, but don’t use a metal bowl or spoon. The paste should be 2 parts baking soda and 3 parts vinegar.
  4. Scrub away: Use a clean toothbrush to scrub the paste into the surface of the shoes. Once you have scrubbed the heck out of your sneakers, rinse them under cold water.
  5. Wash: Put your shoes into the washing machine and wash them on cold. Put them in a laundry bag so they don’t bang around.
  6. Air dry: Let your shoes sit outside in the sun and dry. The sun will help bleach them! DON’T put them in the dryer, it will make them lose their shape!

I have a pair of white Keds and white Converse that are calling my name! I can’t wait to return them to their pearly white glory!

Longer Workouts vs. Shorter Workouts

Longer Workouts vs. Shorter Workouts
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Chelsea-Crockett-HIIT-300x149.jpg

Ah the epic battle of working out. When life gets busy, it’s easy to put working out at the bottom of the list. Many people think that if they don’t have a solid hour to set aside for a good workout, then it’s completely pointless. FALSE! While long workouts are certainly beneficial, they are not always necessary. Sometimes, you can get a greater fat burn in a quick 30 minute workout! “How” you may ask? Keep on reading…..Chelsea Crockett- HIIT

While doing the same workout over and over may be healthy for you, eventually, you will stop seeing results. If you want a toned body, you’ve got to try new workouts and change up your routine. Long workouts are great, especially for cardio. For the greatest results, boost your heart rate up by walking for 3 minutes and running for 5. That 3 minutes will give you a nice little rest, while the 5 minute run will force your heart rate to go up faster than a standard jog… burning more calories. For on-the-go days, a quick work out can give you the same results. The only catch? You’ve got to give it your all! Look up HIIT circuits (high intensity interval training). This is a mix between body weight training and cardio. On these days you can choose between arms, legs, abs, or a full body workout. If done properly, you can burn a crazy amount of calories! You also get the benefit of after-burn (burning calories once you’re done working out).

All in all, it’s important to incorporate both into your weekly workouts. Keep your body on top of its game by switching things up!

XOXO,

Preserve That Pedi!

Preserve That Pedi!
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Chelsea-Crockett-Preserve-That-Pedi.jpg

Getting a pedicure or doing your own is a summer must! It’s essential to have fabulously, colorful nails that stick-out with any outfit! It’s the only thing that won’t get ruined in the summer heat (aka: frizzy hair and melted makeup). So how exactly do you keep that pedi going strong after all that your feet go through?! Follow these simple tips for a long-lasting pedicure!Chelsea Crockett- cuticle oil

Have you ever walked on a sandy beach and noticed how dry your toes look after a certain amount of time? Like your skin, your nails can become dry and brittle. This also contributes to your polish chipping. Keep your toes moisturized and polish silky-smooth by applying cuticle oil to the area. It’s also important not to shower after “just because your toes are dry”. Give it a few hours before getting in water. There’s always a possibility that a little pocket can allow water to get under the polish.

If you’re doing your own pedicure, begin by cleaning your toes with acetone. This removes all oils from the toenails, which allows polish to stick better! It’s also important never skip the base and top coat! This will save you the time of touching them up in a few days. When you’re finished putting color on each toe, make sure there’s no polish on your skin. If there is polish attached to your nail and skin, the polish can tear off very easily. No one wants that!

Now get off your computer, go find some fun nail polish, and get your pedi on!!

Mask For Your Feet?!

Mask For Your Feet?!
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Chelsea-Crockett-Mask-For-Your-Feet.jpg

Everyone knows that a facial mask every once in while is great for your skin! It’s an easy way to deep clean, minimize pores, and get rid of dry skin! Our feet, like our face, need the same kind of treatment! Unlike our facial skin, our feet get the rough end of the deal. Between walking barefoot, exercising, and wearing heels, it’s no wonder our feet can start looking a little under the weather. It’s time for a quick pick-me-up with foot masks!Chelsea Crockett- foot mask

You’re probably wondering what a foot mask is. Here’s how it works: first you slip on a pair of plastic socks (pretty funny looking). Next, you pour a liquid solution into each “sock” making sure all dry patches are fully submerged! Then, tie off each “sock” and let your feet soak for a little. As time goes on the solution will begin to get under the dry skin. Once you’ve let your feet soak for a decent about of time (10-15min), rinse your feet off under warm water and watch the magic happen! Your skin will begin shedding right in front of your eyes. Yes, it sounds gross, but the results are baby-soft skin!

There are multiple brands that make these masks, so look up one that sounds appealing to you and try it out! Comment below how you keep your feet soft and smooth, especially in the summer!

XOXO,

            Chels

Bible Dating Advice 101

Bible Dating Advice 101
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Chelsea-Crockett-Bible-Advice.jpg

When it comes to dating, the Bible isn’t the first place you’d think of when looking for dating advice. Usually your best friends or your sister seem like the perfect people to get a lesson from on the subject. But believe it or not, the Bible is filled with hundreds of simple tips that all of us should take notes on. Here are three of my favorites :).

First and foremost, Chelsea Crockett - Bible VerseI think one of the most important things in a relationship is building each other up. If you’re getting to know a person that puts you down or isn’t a positive influence, get out of that relationship! 1 Corinthians 13:7 says, “Love always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always preservers.” Live by it!

Romans 12:9 says, “Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.” This is so important, not just in the dating aspect of your life. If you and your boyfriend/girlfriend “cling to what is good,” your relationship will go much smoother. And for love to be sincere means that everything you do be honest and loyal. If that’s not good advice, I don’t know what is!

One of my absolute favorite verses in the Bible is 1 Corinthians 13:4. It says, “Love is patient, love in kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.” Any relationship you have in your life, whether it be romantic or between friends and family, needs patience and kindness. If you live by this, you can’t go wrong!

Good luck :)! - Chelsea

Common Eye Makeup Mistakes

Common Eye Makeup Mistakes
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Chelsea-Crockett-common-eye-makeup-mistakes.jpg

It’s easy to throw on makeup and run out the door. We’ve all done it; but have you ever looked in the mirror afterwards and seen the damage you did?! I know I’m guilty! There are so many little details we don’t think about when putting on eye make, but they’re VERY important. Keep on reading to find out the most common eye makeup mistakes, so you can stop doing them today!

Chelsea Crockett- eye highlighter

Before you begin your makeup process, priming your eye lid is SO important! Throughout the day, our shadow can start to bunch up in the creases of our eye lids. By priming your eyelid, your shadow will stay in place! Once that step is complete, it’s time to pick your shadow color. Less is more, people!!! During the day, stick to nude colors. Too many people over do their daytime eye makeup, which can look very off. Also, make sure to blend! You don’t want it to look like you put a line of color on your eye. Incorporate a little blending of the eye shadow with your upper eyeliner as well. When it comes to your water line, only apply liner to the outer corners. By putting a harsh line under your entire eye, you’re creating the illusion that your eye is smaller. No one wants that! Last, but not least, highlight! While this step might seem small, it plays a very big role! Dusting a beige or champagne highlighter in the inner corner of your eyes brightens your entire look, ties everything in, and makes your eyes whiter and bigger.

Next time you’re applying makeup, think about some of these mistakes! Are you committing a makeup crime?!

Love,

            Chelsea

S"Mores Dip

S"Mores Dip
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/chelsea-crockett-smores-dip.jpg
It has been raining non-stop where I live, so I really haven’t been able to do anything fun outdoors for a while. Instead of sitting around and pouting about the rain, I decided to figure out fun things my friends and I could do indoors. I can remember making blanket forts when I was little and having a blast, so we decided to make tons of forts and then watch movies under them. Here is a perfect rainy day tent snack…S’mores dip!enhanced-9943-1435096761-7

  • 1/2 tablespoon butter

  • 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips

  • 15 jumbo marshmallows, halved

  • Graham cracker squares

Place an 8 inch skillet on the center rack and preheat the oven to 450 with the skillet inside.  Once oven is preheated, use a pot holder to remove hot skillet from the oven. Put the butter in the skillet and use a pot holder to hold the handle and swirl the skillet so that the melted butter coats the bottom and sides. Layer the chocolate chips in an even layer into the bottom of the skillet. Arrange marshmallow halves over the surface of the chocolate chips, covering the chocolate completely. Bake the skillet for 5 to 7 minutes or until marshmallows are nice and toasty. Use an oven mitt to remove the skillet from the oven and allow to rest for 5 minutes.

Now devour!

What a sweet rainy day treat!

XOXO, Chels
