Grad Cap Hair Tutorial

Grad Cap Hair Tutorial
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/FullSizeRender-82.jpg

First off, congrats to all of my fellow 2016 graduates! WE DID IT! We made it all the way through 12 years of school. Wowza. Now that we have achieved that feat, it is time to think about graduation. Before you head off to the ceremony, we need to talk grad cap hair. If you are wanting a soft, summery style that complements your cap, check this tutorial out!

  1. Section the top half of your hair off and pin it out of the way.FullSizeRender (81)
  2. Curl the front sections of hair away from your face, then curl the remaining sections towards the front. Unpin the top section of your hair and repeat this process.
  3. Hairspray your hair all over. Don’t separate the curls out yet!
  4. Let the curls cool off, then gently finger comb them to separate them out.
  5. Fasten your cap onto your head using bobby pins and lightly mist it with hairspray one more time.

Easy peasy! Now go rock your grad ceremony! Take lots of pics for me!

XOXO, Chels

Graduation Party 101: Gifts & Outfits

Graduation Party 101: Gifts & Outfits
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/Chelsea-Crockett-Graduation-Party.jpg

It’s not only the start of summer and the end of the school year but the beginning of many, many graduation parties! Especially if you’re a senior, like me, you’ll have dozens of parties to attend! If you’ve never been to one, it’s hard to know what to wear and what type of present you should bring. Here’s my take on it :)!

If you’re attending the party with your parents, most of the time your gift will be from your whole family. If you’re in this boat, your Chelsea Crockett - DIY Dorm Decorparents will usually give the graduate a card with money or a gift card. Most of the time, it’s your closer friends’ parties that you’re going to, so you should have an idea of what they like or don’t like. If you know their plans for college, you can make or buy a gift that could go in their dorm room! There are plenty of DIYs that are perfect for dorm décor. If you’re not on the crafty side, buy something that they can take to college with them or simply something that they’ll enjoy for their next chapter in life!

As far as outfits go, you don’t need to be over-the-top dressy, but you do need to look nice. I suggest a casual dress or jeans with a nice shirt. As for shoes, sandals or a small wedge are perfect!

I hope that’s helpful! - Chelsea

Graduation Attire 101

Graduation Attire 101
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/Chelsea-Crockett-Graduation-Attire.jpg

Summer, warm weather, and days in the sun are almost here… But first, graduation! With me being a senior this year, I’m graduating and moving on to bigger and better things. Graduation is a big deal, and I obviously want to look my best for the big day. So, I came up with a little guide on how to style your outfit for graduation day!Chelsea Crockett - Graduation Dress

First comes first, know your colors. Since it’s spring, see which shades look best with your hair color and skin tone. Use those to your advantage! I love floral patterns during the spring. If you do too, you can always find the pattern you like with which colors go best with you! Not only is floral good for spring, but patterns are always fun to play around with! Don’t be too limited when it comes to patterns and materials. Stripes, lace, chevron, etc. may turn out to be your fave trend!

As far as guidelines go, make sure your dress isn’t too short or too low-cut. Although your gown will be covering up the majority of it, people will still see it for pictures and before and after the ceremony. For your shoes, I would suggest a stylish pair of wedges or casual heels. I prefer wedges because they’re more comfortable and easier to walk in (which is a good idea for walking to get your diploma!).

I hope this helped you get an idea of what outfit you’ll wear for your big day!

XOXO - Chelsea

Graduation Day Beauty Tips

Graduation Day Beauty Tips
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/chelsea-crockett-graduation-day-beauty-tips.jpg

When it comes to styling your graduation hair and makeup there are a few things you need to keep in mind: humidity, confidence, and the cap! The day is alllll about the cap. And that super stylish graduation gown ;). But mostly the cap. So, when you are styling your hair and makeup for the big day, you need to be aware of how the humidity will affect your handiwork and how best to accentuate that hat. Here are a few tips to help you along.

  1. Hair: When it comes to hair, you have to work around the hat. Usually styling your hair down is your best bet for hat-wearing activities. And, like I said earlier, humidity needs to be kept in mind. You will be in a hot, stuffy auditorium or gym for quite a while waiting for your turn to walk across the stage and get your diploma, and in that time your hair can go from sleek and chic to frizzy. Before styling your hair, use a shine serum to help tame frizz. Then after styling run a lightweight dry oil through your locks to prevent flyaways.its-graduation-day-kt47vg
  2. Makeup: Your grad cap will draw attention to your face, so be sure to use powder to prevent your skin from getting shiny and primer to prevent your makeup from running. Humidity can do not-so-great things to makeup. Also, accentuate your eyes! Use a dash of pearl shadow at the corners of your eyes to brighten them. Use a lip color that you are comfortable with, not something too crazy, and keep it simple. You want to be comfortable and confident in your graduation look! You will be taking tons of pictures and pictures last a lifetime, so you want to feel and look your best. :)

Good luck, grads!

XOXO, Chels

Find Your Perfect Graduation Look!

Find Your Perfect Graduation Look!
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/Chelsea-Crockett-graduation.jpg

Whether you’re graduating middle school, high school, or college, graduation is right around the corner!  With so many eyes on you and hundreds of pictures being taken, it’s important to have the right outfit.  It’s time to find the perfect graduation look!

Graduation is a very important event, therefore go for a dress.  When shopping for a dress, avoid anything strapless.  Go for a dress with straps and one you will be comfortable in.  Graduation Chelsea Crockett- graduation dressceremonies usually last a long time, so you do not want to constantly be pulling up your dress, especially in front of your principals and family members.  Since the weather will be transitioning from spring to summer, go for a fun colored flowy dress as well!  You don’t want to look too business professional, so opt for a dress right above the knee with a bright color or pattern!

Walking across the stage at graduation can be nerve racking, so don’t wear 6 inch heels.  Instead, go for a wedge.  Wedge heels have more support and are easier to walk in!  If you’re still worried about falling, try finding heels that have an ankle strap.  This will prevent your feet from sliding around in your shoe.

Happy Graduation!
