Instant Cures for Boredom!

Instant Cures for Boredom!
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/Chelsea-Crockett-Boredom.png

Do you ever have those days where you lay on your bed and think “there is absolutely NOTHING to do today”?  Maybe your friends are all busy or your home bound and can’t think of a single thing to occupy your time.  If you’re tired of refreshing your twitter and Instagram feeds over and over, here are a few home activities to cure your boredom!

  • Try a few DIYs!  There are so many fun “do it yourself” projects to try at home.  Chelsea Crockett - Galaxy VansOne of my favorites is the DIY galaxy vans that I mentioned in one of my past articles.  You could also try a DIY face mask and have a spa day with your friends :)!

  • Look for a new recipe!  Have you seen an amazing recipe you’re dying to try on Pinterest lately?  Experiment with it, maybe you’ll make something you absolutely love!  If you have a boyfriend/girlfriend invite them over to help!  It’s always fun to cook together!

  • Shop til’ you drop online!  This is something I do almost every time I’m bored.  Urbanog.com, sammydress.com, and forever21.com are a few of my favorites!

Good luck insiders :)! – Chels

Homemade Ice Packs

Homemade Ice Packs
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/homemade-ice-pack.jpg

How many of you take your lunch to school or work? A lot of times, bringing your lunch is a cheaper, healthier way to eat! When you bring your meals with you, there is a very important accessory that you must think about. Your ice pack! Although they are incredibly important to keeping your lunch cold and to keeping it from spoiling, they can sometimes be pricy and can fall apart and leak all over your food! I found out how to make my own ice packs and love them! They are also perfect for icing injuries because they are flexible! I’ll teach you how to make them!

You will need:

  • 2 cups water

  • 1 cup rubbing alcoholrubbing alcohol

  • Food coloring for the blue tint (optional)

  • 2 Ziploc bags – quart or gallon-size

Mix the water and alcohol together in one of your Ziploc bags and add food coloring, if desired, until you get that perfect blue tint. Release as much air as possible and seal the bag. I would recommend double bagging just to make sure that you don’t have any leeks! Stick your new flexible homemade alcohol ice pack in the freezer for about 12 hours before using it for the first time. It will be icy and a little slushy, which make them perfect for using on any injury because they bend to fit your body part! Try these out and comment below to tell me how they work out for you!

XOXO, Chels

Egg Hair Mask! Read It To Believe It!

Egg Hair Mask! Read It To Believe It!
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/Chelsea-crockett-egg-hair-mask.jpg

I put raw egg in my hair today, ladies. Can you believe it? It is actually SO incredibly good for your hair! The hair mask that I tried tonight combines egg yolk, honey, and olive oil! Sounds kind of yucky, but your hair will totally thank you!

Combine one egg yolk, one tablespoon of honey, and three tablespoons of olive oil in a small bowl. Whisk all of the ingredients together and make sure that you have a nice smooth mixture! Brush out your hair and make sure that all of the tangles are out of your hair. Apply this ooey gooey mess to the ends of your hair with your fingers. Tie your hair up into a bun to keep the mess off of your clothes. Leave the mixture in your hair for about an hour egg-honey-hair-mask chelsea crockettand then rinse it out with warm water in the shower! Shampoo and condition as you usually would. I recommend using this remedy once every two weeks just to keep your ends nice and moisturized, because when you have moisturized hair, it doesn’t break as easily! That means longer, more luscious hair for you!

If you are brave enough to test this fun hair mask comment below and tell me what you think!

XOXO, Chels

Importance Of Vitamin E Oil!

Importance Of Vitamin E Oil!
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/chelsea-crockett-vitamin-e.jpg

Everyone knows that vitamins are good for your body, but did you know that they are good for your skin too? Research says that vitamin E is awesome for your complexion! I’ll explain.

1. It treats acne scars:

Vitamin E oil can help those pesky acne scars fade away! If you gently massage the oil into your scars in a circular motion, the oil will penetrate deep into your skin and repair the tissue at the source! It can also be used to help remove stretch marks

2. Anti-aging:

Because vitamin E oil is packed with powerful antioxidants, if it is regularly applied to your skin it can help smoothen out fine lines and wrinkles, as well as prevent the chance of wrinkles forming in the future! By adding this oil to your skin routine every day, you can prevent future wrinkles? Count me in!

3. Makeup remover and deep cleanser:

Add this oil to a cotton ball and rub it all over your face. This will cleanse your skin of all the dirt and grime that has accumulated on your skin, as well as remove your makeup!

I don’t know about you, but I’M adding vitamin E oil to my beauty regimen!

DIY Pottery Barn Photo Cork Board!

DIY Pottery Barn Photo Cork Board!
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/Chelsea-Crockett-Photo-Cork-Board.jpg

Chelsea Crockett - Picture Cork BoardIf you’ve ever seen Pottery Barn, you’ll know that all of their merchandise is fun and creative, but don’t forget a little pricey!  One of their products is a photo cork board, such as the one on the left.  Most people don’t want to pay for things that they can easily make at home.  That being said, here’s a short tutorial on a DIY picture cork board!

First off, you’ll need to determine how big you want your board, depending on the size of the wall you put it on.  Here’s what you need for one such as the board above!  First, find nine small squares of cork board.  Keep in mind the size of your wall!  You’ll need to go to your nearest craft store such as Hobby Lobby for example.  Then, pick out nine colors or patterns of cloth that will look best in your room!  Make sure you get the right sized cloth to glue onto your cork.  Once you get home, I suggest taking a hot glue gun to glue your cloth and cork together.  Then, ask a parent, or someone who is good with a saw, to cut a piece of thin plywood the size that you need.  Remember to leave room for your frame.  After, take your nine material cork squares and glue them to the plywood in whatever order you want.  Last, cut some trim to frame the outside of your patterned board.  Make sure to use a strong glue to glue it on.  There are many ways to hang your board on your wall.  Ask help from a parent for which way is best.  Then add as many photos or decorations as you want!  Enjoy!

Love, Chelsea
