In the winter, you hardly see anyone wearing hot pink or coral lipstick.  With cold weather comes darker colors.  Paring dark lipstick with the correct blush and eye shadow can be tricky and has to be done correctly.  If you’ve never tried a bold lip, here’s your makeup guide to creating the perfect look.

Less is more!  If you’re putting a dark color on one part of your face, then it’s important to keep it simple everywhere else.  Try a light blush, nude or shimmery eye, skinny black eyeliner on the top lid, and mascara.  Stay away from dark blush and heavy eyeliner!  When prepping for your dark lip, always use a lip scrub before.  If your lips are chapped or flakey, the dark colors will really show it.  If you like to line your lips, choose a lipstick that is one shade lighter than the lip liner itself.  This way, your lips won’t look too overdone.

Last, pick out the perfect outfit and you’re ready for a night out!

Do you have a loaf of white bread, some cream cheese, and sugar? If so, then you have dessert! If you need something quick and easy to whip together before a family gathering or party then try these puppies out! Who knew white bred could be transformed into something so delicious?

Ingredients:

• 1 loaf white bread, crusts removed


• 1 package softened cream cheese


• 3/4 cup powdered sugar


• 1 cup sugar


• 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon


• 3/4 cup melted butter

 

Flatten the slices of bread with a rolling-pin. In a bowl, combine cream cheese and powdered sugar. In another bowl, combine sugar and cinnamon; set aside. Spread about 1 tablespoon of cheese mixture on each slice of bread. Roll up the slice of bread like a tube or a fruit roll up. Dip in melted butter, then in cinnamon-sugar. Place on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 350° for 20 minutes or until golden brown. This recipe makes about 16 rolls, so keep that in mind when you are trying to figure out how many you should make!

Bold, beautiful eyebrows are a huge beauty statement right now.  They’re a focal point on your face, so they should be treated the same as your skin would when it comes to makeup.  Filling in your eyebrows is sort of an art.  When done right they look beautiful, but when done wrong they can look fake and tacky. Learning the right technique is very important…check it out!

Before you can begin filling in your brows, make sure they are plucked (check out my article “Tweezing Your Eyebrows the RIGHT Way”).  Once they’re perfectly plucked, choose your filler: brow pencil, brow powder, or a brow cream/gel.  Begin by creating a shape by lightly outlining your brow.  Always stay inside your natural hairline.  Next, fill in the rest of your brow, but be sure to keep it light.  Once you’re finished, brush through your brows with a clear brow gel or spoolie brush.  This will pick up any unnecessary, excess color and evenly distribute it throughout your brow.

Your eyebrows are officially done!  It’s as easy as that…you officially have the perfect eyebrows!

Eyes are the first thing you notice about someone. Whether it’s their gorgeous eye shadow or popping eye color, they draw attention along with luscious, long lashes. Some of us are lucky enough to be born with gorgeous lashes… most of us aren’t so fortunate. Here are a few natural ways to stimulate growth to give you fabulous eye lashes :)!

• Try brushing your lashes before you apply mascara for a few minutes daily. Make sure your eye lash brush is soft bristled. You don’t want to accidentally hurt them instead of help them. That’s simple enough, right?


• Petroleum jelly is good for chapped lips, dry skin, etc., but it can also help your lash length! For this, you can do one of two things. Either apply it to your mascara wand or apply it using a lash comb. Both remedies work and will help with moisturizing and stimulating growth.


• Some vitamins that help your hair grow work just as well for lashes, too! Biotin, for example, is a B-vitamin that can help with brittle nails, hair health, etc., and surprisingly works for your eye lashes as well.


• Castor oil! This is probably the most recommended remedy. Apply some of it to your lashes before you go to sleep and leave it on overnight. I promise, you’ll see a difference soon enough!


• Green tea isn’t only for drinking. Apply it with a cotton ball to your lashes and let them soak for a few minutes.

P.E. is us girls’ most dreaded class: getting sweaty, rushing to get dressed, and running to your next class. I’d rather not! Whether you have a P.E. teacher that treats class like boot camp or only have it for one semester, you’ll need some tips for refreshing after. Here are a few tricks I’ve learned throughout my high school years, maybe they’ll help you, too!

If you have first hour P.E., you know the real struggle. First off, you can keep a few products in your backpack or gym locker for quick use. A trick I learned is, after you get all sweaty during class, using a baby wipe or makeup remover wipe and cleaning off your face with it (avoid taking off your eye makeup!). Then, reapply with a quick powder foundation if you have the time! Wiping off your face will remove any sweat or bacteria that’s left behind after class, which will help avoid acne from forming!

Next, consider keeping some deodorant and/or perfume in your locker. This will make you feel and smell like you never even went to class! Also, carry a couple cute headbands with you. If your P.E. likes to mess up your hair, you can throw it in a messy bun or braid and rock a headband like the one on the left! These are super in right now and can be found at tons of stores like Forever 21 or Earthbound.
