High-Waisted Swim Style

High-Waisted Swim Style
https://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2017/04/chelsea-crockett-high-waisted-swim-style.jpg

There is a swimwear trend that has been coming up through the ranks the last few years and is finally making waves. It is high-waisted swimwear! I have a few suits in this style and am a huge fan because they slim my waist and disguise my thighs. Here are a few of my favorite high-waisted suits!

  1. Scalloped: Scalloped swimwear is so cute. It is feminine yet simple. I also think it has a classiness to it.

  2. Girly: Bring on the fun prints and ruffles! I love the peplum style of this top because it hides any belly that we may be uncomfortable showing. The bottoms are also a great statement piece, I love the colorful print!

  3. Unique: I love suits that are different from the norm. This top is just that! It is long sleeved, which is not typically what swim tops are. If you are going to a beach that is a little chilly or clowdy, then this is a great option. It is also a good option if you are trying to avoid sunburn. I love the retro flare of the stripes paired with the simple sleek black bottoms.

I am totally hopping on board with the high-waisted suit trend, are you?

XOXO, Chels

3 Creative DIYs for Reuse!

3 Creative DIYs for Reuse!
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/Chelsea-Crockett-DIYs-for-Reuse.jpg

Everyone has old things they just throw away when they’re too vintage or simply old and rundown like a piece of furniture, clothing, etc. The amount of DIYs that are possible from these things is endless… You just have to find the right one for your outdated item!

  1. Old sweaters and t-shirts are always reusable. Maybe not wearable, but try turning them into a t-shirt quilt or maybe a sweater infinity scarf. Certain DIYs don’t take a lot of time but the results are great! There are tons of different options, you just have to look for them!Chelsea Crockett - DIY Key
  2. Old keys that aren’t needed anymore can make for a great necklace. Including the actually necklace chain itself, those two items are basically all you need! You can even decorate it different ways like the picture on the right.
  3. Old maps can have a lot more potential than you think. Pieces of furniture such as a lamp, canvas, etc. can be a perfect place to use it! Depending on the piece of furniture, you can papier-mâché the map onto it! You can look up several different recipes to do so.

Let me know how yours turns out! :) -Chels

Rock the Retro Look

Rock the Retro Look
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/chelsea-crockett-rock-the-retro-look-.jpg

Vintage & retro hairstyles are coming back with a bang! When I see pictures of women in the ‘60s, ‘70s, and ‘80s I am always so jealous of their hair. They wore it in such cool ways! Luckily, lots of those styles are making a comeback! Here are a few of my favorite retro hair styles and how to style them.

  1. Tied-up updoo: If you have ever seen pictures of “Rosie the Riveter” then you know where this style came from! I love it because it is a quick, easy, adorable way to pull your hair up. It is also great for second-day hair that is looking a bit greasy. The scarf hides it! Here is how to do it: Work some texturizing spray through your hair, then curl it with a large barreled iron. Spritz with hair spray, then pin random curls into a messy bun. Tie a pretty head scarf retro 4around your head to finish it off!
  2. Retro waves: When I see this hair style I think of knee-high white leather boots and some giant bug-eyed sunglasses! Or I think of Daphne from Scooby Doo. Either one works ;). Here is how to do this look: Curl your hair with hot rollers, then use dry shampoo at your crown for some volume. Tease it a bit at the crown, and then finish with a spritz of hair spray, not too much that it looks sticky or rough!
  3. Victory rolls: This hair style makes me want to put on a poodle skirt and go to the drive-in! So retro and so classic. It gives a great ‘40s vibe and would look absolutely adorable with a full skirt, lace dress, or silky blouse. Here is how to create this look: Lightly spray texturizing spray to give your hair some grip, and then blow dry it. Part your hair down the middle, then twist one side back and pin it into place at the nape of your neck. Then repeat with the opposite side. Connect the ends, twist them back into a soft bun, and finish with a light mist of hair spray.

These styles are great for a day when you are feeling like you want to mix things up. Plus, they are all easy to do! Which is YOUR favorite retro look?

XOXO, Chels

How to Style Oxford Shoes

How to Style Oxford Shoes
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/chelsea-crockett-how-to-style-oxford-shoes.jpg

Oxford shoes aren’t just for dudes any more! The style of shoe is making its way up the Hollywood fashion ladder and even Taylor Swift is sporting the trend! They are classy, preppy, and fashionable. Here is how YOU can work Oxfords into your wardrobe.ladies-flat-shoes-1

  1. Casual: The easiest, most casual way to wear Oxfords is with some skinny jeans, a white cotton button up, and a cute pair of sunglasses. If you are feeling sassy, toss in a hat and statement purse!
  2. Semi-Casual: Take Taylor Swift’s style advice and pair a neutral pair of skinnies with a preppy sweater, leather handbag, and retro shades.
  3. Dressy: The “dressier” option is to wear a cute printed dress with nylon tights, a cardigan, and Oxfords! I love the “scholarly” look this gives. It is a little vintage, a little classic, but a lot of cute!

So ladies, this fall will you be sporting some Oxfords? They come in all  types, from simple leather to bright colors and everything in between! There is something for everyone.

XOXO, Chels

Chic Ways to Rock a Sweatshirt!

Chic Ways to Rock a Sweatshirt!
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/Chelsea-Crockett-style-sweatshirts.jpg

Do you ever roll out of bed, throw on a sweatshirt with a pair of sweatpants and run out the door?  It’s such an easy outfit and super comfortable.  So what about those days you feel like wearing your favorite hoodie or sweatshirt, but still want to look nice?  I’ll show you a few simple ways to style an ordinary hoodie and make it extraordinary!   Chelsea Crockett- sweatshirt and button up

Vintage hoodies are the greatest.  Ask your parents if they have a sweatshirt from their collage days that you could style.  It’s no problem if they are over-sized!  For a simpler look, throw on an over-sized sweatshirt, a pair of leggings, leather boots, and an infinity scarf.  It’s a cozy look, but the boots make it look dressier.  For a dressier look, try wearing a button up shirt under your crew neck sweatshirt and pull the sleeves and collar through the openings.  Roll the sleeves of the shirt and crew neck, throw on a pair of skinny jeans and flats, and add a little bling like a chunky necklace for the final touch.  This look is so classy, yet comfortable.

If you have a solid or subtle colored crew neck, one with little print, try pairing it with some crazy prints.  Don’t be afraid to wear a pair of floral skinny jeans or a polka dot mini skirt. This is definitely the girly way to style a crew neck.  Next time you go to put on a sweatshirt, don’t just go for a pair of sweatpants.  Be a fashionista and turn heads with your creative styling!

Love,

Chelsea

Thrift Shop Like A Pro!

Thrift Shop Like A Pro!
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Chelsea-Crockett-Thrift-Shop-Like-A-Pro.jpg

Alright ladies, it’s time to channel your inner Macklemore! Do you ever love having an item of clothing that is unique?  Something that no one else has?!  Malls are full of the same product that everyone owns, so finding something original can be tough.  This is where thrift shopping comes into play.  Thrift shops are the perfect go-to shopping destination for everything unique and different. Chelsea Crockett- Thrift Shop

The first rule to thrift shopping is to be patient. Most aren’t very organized and it can take a while to find a decent item of clothing.  Vintage sweatshirts, over-sized plaid, and high-waisted denim are some of things to be on the lookout for.  If you can find a pair of high waisted denim that fit you around the waist, but may be ugly or high water, purchase them and turn them into high-waisted shorts!  It’s also a good idea to check out the men’s clothing section for plaid and vintage tees.

If you’ve got a good chunk of time on your hands and are up for an adventure, then thrift shopping is the answer! You may be surprised what’s hidden throughout the racks.

XOXO,

Chelsea

Slide Into Your Sandals!

Slide Into Your Sandals!
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/Chelsea-Crockett-slide-in-sandals.jpg

Remember those easy sandals you used to slide into as a kid?  Sometimes they had two straps, maybe three, and you thought you were the coolest kid around?  Well, they’re back; and this time, they’re not only for kids, but for adults and teens as well!  It’s time to bring back an oldie but goodie, and slide into these revamped sandals!Chelsea Crockett- slide sandals

Birkenstocks were the “it” shoes to have when I was in middle school.  If you still have them, then break them out!  Whether it be a quick run to the mall or a casual dress up night with friends, these slide-in athletic sandals are perfect for any occasion.  In one simple swap you can upgrade your normal flip-flops!  Try a pair of black sandals with a casual sundress or shorts and a tee.

You may even see this style of shoe popping up at your mall in different colors and patterns!  Be adventurous with your style and try a floral pattern with a neutral dress or an army green color for a grungy street style look!  Jump back into your childhood and break out a pair of these comfortable, yet stylish sandals!

XOXO,

Chelsea
