Powder Blush vs. Liquid Blush

Powder Blush vs. Liquid Blush
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/chelsea-crockett-Powder-blush-vs-liquid-blush-.jpg

Do you use powder or liquid blush? I use both! For a while I didn’t even know that they MADE liquid blush! So, would you like to know a little bit about each to decide which is best for you? Read on!83231_900px_100011

  1. Depends on the look you’re going for: Powder blush gives off a more finished look and is perfect for contouring cheeks. It is also a more natural look! Cream/liquid blushes create a dewey look.

  2. Skin type: If you have an oily complexion, then powder blush is your go-to. It helps absorb grease for a matte finish. If you have dry skin, go for a cream blush to minimize flaking.

  3. How long they last: Powder blushes don’t last quite as long as liquid blushes. When you wear liquid blush the color lasts longer!

When it comes down to it, it is all about personal preference! Whichever one feels better to you and whichever looks best on you! I’ve found my fave, now it’s time for you to find yours!

XOXO, Chels

Tips for Running in the Winter

Tips for Running in the Winter
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/Tips-for-running-in-the-winter-.jpg

Are you a cardio lover? I love to run. It clears the mind and pumps the heart. In the winter months it is more difficult to run and finding motivation to go out in the chilly air can be tough. I try not to let the cold slow me down and scare me away from running my heart out! Here are some tips on how to run in the cold weather.

Set a goal: Having a specific goal is the best motivation to keep going! A few of my friends are training for half marathons and courir-en-hiverthey have a schedule that they stick to each week and they say that it really keeps them motivated and accountable!

Dress it up: Cute running clothes always motivate me to get up and get outside to run. When you look your best you FEEL your best! Dress for weather about 15 to 20 degrees warmer than it actually is to allow your body heat to adjust. Wear layers that block the wind. Tight pants or leggings, loose fleece, ear warmers, gloves, these are all things you gotta wear!

Run with a bud: Running buddies are another great way to stay motivated to run when the weather is not ideal. Running with a friend is fun! Plus they push you to do better and go further.

Run When its warmer: Run at the times of day that are the warmest. Get that Vitamin D in and let the sunshine warm your face!

I hope that these tips have shown you that running in the winter doesn’t have to be miserable!

Peppermint Candy Ornaments

Peppermint Candy Ornaments
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/chelsea-crockett-peppermint-orniments-.jpg

Peppermints are as festive as it gets. No matter what time of year it is, the smell of peppermints never gets old. It is so refreshing! The ornaments I am going to teach you how to make are totally festive, totally adorable, and totally perfect for any Christmas tree! And, not to mention, totally cheap!

What you need:

  • Peppermint candiesimg_8938

  • Metal cookie cutters

  • Non-stick cooking spray

  • Parchment paper

Directions:

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper and then spray the inside of your cookie cutters with cooking spray. Lay the cookie cutters on the cookie sheet and fill them with peppermint candies. Squeeze as many peppermints side by side into the cookie cutters. If you layer the candies on top of each other the ornaments will be thicker and stronger. Bake the sheets for 5 to 10 minutes and keep an eye on the candy as it melts. Remove the tray from the oven when the candies have melted together. Lightly coat a toothpick with cooking spray and use it to make a hole in each group of candies. Let the candy sit inside the cookie cutters until it hardens and cools. Once it has hardened, carefully stretch out the cookie cutter and gently pull the cookie cutter away and pop the candy out.

Now all you have to do is string some ribbon through the holed in ornaments and then decorate with them! They will fill your house with a fresh, peppermint scent and they will also add some color to your tree!

How to Walk in Heels

How to Walk in Heels
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/chelsea-crockett-how-to-walk-in-heels.jpg

IMG_6340This time of year around Thanksgiving and Christmas means lots of parties and get-togethers, which means dressing up! To some girls, the words “high heels” are curse words. Yes, heels can be uncomfortable and a little hard to commandeer at times, but there really IS an art to walking in heels.

  1. Start small: You wouldn’t run a marathon without training, would you? I certainly wouldn’t. That is why if you rarely wear heals, don’t reach for the 5 inch stilettos come formal. Start off with a 2 inch heel, just to get familiar with the feeling. If you slowly work your way up you will be rockin those 5 inch heels in no time at all.

  2. If the shoe fits…: Size DOES matter. You have got to make sure your heels fit right or you are in for a world of hurt. If the shoes are too big you will be walking around awkwardly all night and will probably feel like a clown with huge shoes. If the shoes are too small your feet will feel cramped and you will be feeling the burn. Your foot size changes over the years, so get your feet sized before stepping out in those stilettos.

  3. Take a breather: Take a sit. There is no shame in having a little break from time to time. When you rest frequently it keeps you walking more comfortably.

  4. Pump the breaks: Wearing heels naturally makes your strides shorter, so you have to take more steps than usual. Slow your roll! The faster you try and walk in heels the funnier you look.

  5. Move to a beat: When you are walking in flats do you think about the steps you are taking? Nope. The same goes for walking in heels, don’t over think it! Try and walk to a beat when you are wearing heels. It will help you even your strides and make your walking look effortless.

We hope that these tips will help you walk like Beyonce wherever your heels may take you!

How to Stay Warm without Losing Your Style

How to Stay Warm without Losing Your Style
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Chelsea-Crockett-Staying-Warm-without-Losing-Your-Style.jpg

When it’s freezing cold outside, the last thing you want to do is leave your warm, cozy house… But when you’re forced out into the harsh weather, you have to be bundled up from head to toe! Despite the falling snow or bitter winds, you’re going to have to find some ultra-warm clothes to keep warm. Sometimes this makes it harder to keep your style and look fashionable (and who knows, maybe you’re going on an ice skating date?)! With that being said, here are some pointers on how to do just that!

  • Maybe you have a light coat that you want to wear but you don’t think it’ll be warm enough. Layer! You can always wear a long-sleeved shirt underneath a sweater and then you’re stylish coat. Or try finding a fleece zip up or something along those lines to rock underneath!

  • Boots are always the key to keeping your feet warm. Find a stylish pair such as snow boots, combat boots, or booties! Depending on how dressy you’re going, you can always wear a think pair of boot socks to stick out of your fashionable boots.Chelsea Crockett - Snow Boots

  • Accessories are the key to any good outfit, no matter what! So, find a cute scarf, hat, or pair of gloves that match your outfit to spice it up.

  • Lastly, find the perfect coat to seal the deal. Instead of a plain fleece jacket, try rocking a pea coat, puffy coat, or even a fleece or fur vest (cause vests are totally in!).

So whatever the frigid occasion may be, ice skating or maybe a Christmas parade, I hope these help you out!

Winter Brand "Must-Haves"

Winter Brand "Must-Haves"
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Chelsea-Crockett-Winter-Brands.jpg

Winter is in the air, you can feel it!  Where I live, the temperature’s dropping very quickly this season!  One day it’s 55 degrees and the next it’s 20!  I’m always looking for sporty, stylish clothes to keep me warm while I enjoy winter sports like running or ice skating.  Some of my favorite winter brands are Patagonia, The North Face, and Columbia.Chelsea Crockett - Patagonia

These brands offer cute styles of jackets that are form fitting and keep you warm and dry.  The coats are compressible for packing for a snow ski trip and lightweight for just hanging with friends around an open fire.  Many of their styles have removable or adjustable hoods.  The quality of these brands are exceptional.  Their outer shells are often insulated, breathable, waterproof, and most of all….super fashionable!  The choices are endless.

Boots, pants, gloves, hats, etc. are all offered from these companies.  You can’t go wrong with the combination of warmth plus style!  Whatever your sport may be, you will be pleased with the durability and protection needed for outdoor fun.

If you’re into snow skiing or snowboarding, these three brands are 100% the way to go. They have the perfect clothing for you to gear up against the cold (and look cute doing it!). These brands are also perfect for a Christmas gift. Grab a gift card, or a couple cute accessories and you’re set! Who wouldn’t love that?  Check out these brands below!

Back to School Essentials for Every Wardrobe: Fall Edition

Back to School Essentials for Every Wardrobe: Fall Edition
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/Chelsea-Crockett-Back-to-School-Essentials-for-Every-Wardrobe-Fall-Edition.jpg

Ah the start of a new school year!  New people, new classes, and NEW CLOTHES!  Back to school clothes shopping is always a fun way to take your mind off the school work ahead.  Purchasing staple pieces for back-to-school wear is essential in creating the perfect wardrobe!  Check out my key pieces to create your dream outfits for this fall.

  1. Army Jacket: This jacket can be worn with almost anything! Throw it on over a dress to make it more casual or dress it up with a scarf and boots. It’s the simplest thrown on, throw off jacket!

  2. Rain Boots: Fall is a season of rain and snow. Having a pair of rain boots on hand is perfect for those days! Try wearing a pair of tall socks under your boots for cold, snowy days!

  3. Tans and Browns: Fall is the perfect time to break out your tan and brown clothing. Not to mention, it matches EVERYTHING! It’s important to have a few tan/brown sweaters and tees to throw on with any outfit.

  4. Riding Boots: Class up any outfit with a pair of these!Chelsea Crockett- riding boots

  5. Vests: Nothing completes an outfit like a good vest. Try pairing a vest with a button up or sweater to add warmth and style to your outfit. They’re also super cute!

  6. Oversized Plaid Shirts: This is the ultimate comfy clothing item. Wear it buttoned up with a pair of distressed jeans or leggings, or wear it open with a tee. Add to the grungy look by throwing on a pair of combat boots and a beanie (for those bad hair days).

Putting together outfits and shopping for one them is a girl’s favorite hobby.  It’s one of mine!  I mean, I am a beauty and fashion guru!  Have fun expanding your back-to-school wardrobe!

Have a safe and exciting school year!
