4 Tips for Masking Greasy Hair

4 Tips for Masking Greasy Hair
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/FullSizeRender-4-2.jpg

Greasy hair is a struggle for us all.  They say you’re not supposed to wash your hair every day, but when you don’t, your hair becomes a greasy mess!  Especially if you have thick hair like me, you know the struggle.  If you have this problem too, here are 5 tips that will help you out!

  • Dry Shampoo. If you’ve never used dry shampoo, then get ready to be amazed! It does wonders for your hair.  Spray a little bit of this on your hair at any time of the day and it’ll give it the lift it needs.

  • Baby Powder. If you don’t have any dry shampoo lying around, baby powder almost works just as well!  I found this trick hard to believe, but it really does work!  Sprinkle a small amount of powder around your scalp to disappear any grease your hair has.  It’s a cheap and quick method to substitute for dry shampoo!

  • Hats and Headbands. As you can already guess, hats and headbands are the perfect cover-up for greasy hair.  They’re the key solution to any messy hair day, trust me!

  • Braid it. Braiding the top of your hair makes for a cute hairstyle while still doing a good job of covering up dirty hair!  You can still look good on your way to class without worrying about it!

Have any other tips you can give me?  Share your tricks with me in the comments below!

Hairstyles for Humid Weather

Hairstyles for Humid Weather
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/Chelsea-Crockett-Humid-Hairstyles.jpg

Humidity is the absolute worse.  Your hair can go from straight to curly or curly to flat as soon as you step outside!  Even your makeup can’t beat the heat and ends up sweating off before no time!  If your hair is notorious for frizzing up when humidity Chelsea Crockett - Double Braidsstrikes, try some of these hairstyles to rock no matter what the temperature is!

First rule is to conceal as much of your hair as possible.  Wearing a simple ponytail will still leave room for it to frizz up!  My go-to hairstyle is French braids or a fishtail braid.  Since the double braids are back in style, I rock them all the time!  If you can’t do French braids on yourself, try learning how to fishtail.  It’s super easy, and with a little practice you can master the look yourself!  (P.S. this is a good hairstyle if you have a lot of layers. Chelsea Crockett - Braided Bun It takes little pieces at a time so it stops them from sticking out like they might in normal braids!)

If you need a little extra help containing the frizz, don’t be afraid to utilize accessories!  Things like headbands and hats are made for rescuing you from hair emergencies!  Apart from accessorizing, buns are good for this too.  I have yet to try this style for myself, but braided headbands followed by a bun like the picture on the right are super cute!

Which is your go-to hairstyle?  Let me know insiders! 🙂

How to Curl Your Hair with a Straightener

How to Curl Your Hair with a Straightener
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/Chelsea-Crockett-How-to-Curl-Your-Hair-with-a-Straightener.jpg

Curling your hair with a straightener? What?!  Sounds weird I know, but it’s actually super quick and there are multiple ways to do it!  If you don’t have a curling iron or aren’t the biggest fan of them, then keep on reading and check out how to curl your hair with a straightener!Chelsea Crockett- curling your hair with a straightener

When curling your hair with a straightener, it’s important to use small to medium chunks of hair rather than big ones. Start by sectioning your hair into a top and bottom layer.  Begin curling the bottom layer by starting at your roots and making a circular motion, twisting the straightener as you move down the strand of hair.  Continue to do this for each layer and you’ll have perfectly loose straightener curls!

Another way to curl your hair with a straightener is to braid your hair into 4 tight braids. Run the straightener down each braid a few consecutive times and then let the braid sit before taking it out.  Once you have straightened each braid and let them sit, take out the braid and loosen your hair.  This will give you perfect beach like waves!  You can even add some sea salt texturizing hair spray to complete your look!

Hope this can make the process of curling your hair a little easier!

XOXO,

Chelsea

Tres Braids

Tres Braids
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/chelsea-crockett-tres-braids1.jpg

Three braids. That is all that makes up this fun, unique hair style. It has a sort of edgy, hippy feel to it that I really like. I also love that it brings a new way to pull off the “half up half down” hair style.  What do you think? Do you like this new take on the average braid?

Achieving this look is very simple. First, take a small section of hair at the front of your face and braid it. Do the same d18c6a9086941995dc79060811dea19bto the other side of your head. You should now have two small braids on either side of your face. Pull them to the back of your head and secure them together with a clear elastic. Next, grab a section of hair right below the braid that you have already pulled back. Braid this section, and then do the same to the other side of your hair. Add these braids to the tail of the other braids (as seen in the photo). Repeat this step to the hair just below the braids that you just made. The key to this updoo is that you have three braids on either side of your head, all in a row, pulled back and meeting at the back of your head, as you can see in the picture.

If you are wanting to change up the ‘ole “half up half down” style, then this is your chance! I love this creative take to pulling your hair out of your face. Do you like this braided style? Comment below and let me know!

Hippy Braids

Hippy Braids
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/chelsea-crockett-Hippy-Braids.jpg

We all know how much I love the “boho” trend. I love the loose, flowey clothing and free-spiritedness of it all. I figured that since I am always giving you style tips on how to rock the boho trend, I should probably give you a hair suggestion to go with it! Here I what I like to call “hippy briads”, which I think go just grand with the boho style.

  1. For this style you will be wearing your hair down, so brush it out and put some loose curls in it. Take some sea tres3salt spray and mist it over your hair, scrunching it and working it through your hair to give it some texture and body.

  2. Take a section of hair from your “good side” aka the side you part your hair on, and do a simple braid about 2 inches from the front of your hair line. So, not at the front of your hair, a little further back on your head.

  3. Take the section of hair in front of your braid, so the hair at the front of your face, and an equal portion of hair from the other side of your head and pin the sections to the back of your head. You should have a “half up half down” sort of look goin on right now.

  4. Now take those sections that you pinned back to the back of your head and braid them together and secure with a clear elastic. You should now have one braid to the side of your hair and one going down the back.

This look is effortless, adorable, and so boho! Do you love it? Comment below!

Braid-In-A-Braid

Braid-In-A-Braid
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/chelsea-crockett-braid.jpg

Do you ever get tired of wearing your hair down or having it hanging in your face? I know I do, and with the warm weather closing in you are going to want your locks off of your neck. Here is a way to dress up your regular every day braid.

Tease the crown of your hair and spray it with dry shampoo to give it some volume. Part your hair into three dad739579455313fbd5a0166eefa9b08sections and braid the middle section. Secure the braid with a clear elastic. Then, take all of the sections and braid them together. Secure the end of your final braid with a clear elastic. Pull the braid apart a little bit so that it widens and loosens, giving it a wistful, effortless look. Spritz your look with some hair spray and then you are done!

I love braids because they are so effortless and classic. Try it out and comment below!

Boho Braids!

Boho Braids!
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/Chelsea-Crockett-boho-braids.jpg

Between bohemian fashion, the laid-back beach lifestyle, and festivals like Coachella, braids are the coolest hairstyle on the streets right now!  It’s all about minimum effort and braids allow you to do just that!  It’s so simple to throw your hair in a braid and walk out of the house.  Although the standard braid can be boring, there are so many ways to spice it up!  Check out some of my favorite ways to incorporate a braid into your hairstyle.

If you love the standard braid but want to change it up a bit, try curing your hair and leaving some of your short layers out of the braid.  You could also tease all of your hair and then start to braid it.  Change it up by trying a fish tail braid!  Both of these looks will give you that laid-back, effortless boho look.

If you have long hair, leave your hair as it naturally is and start a braid under the top layer of your hair right above one of your ears.  Once you are done braiding, drape it across your head so itChelsea Crockett- braided hair headband looks like a headband.  Secure the opposite side with bobby pins and you’ve got a quick and simple hairstyle!

The biggest “don’t” when going for the boho look is hairspray!  If your hair falls, then let it fall!  That’s part of the boho hairstyling.  It’s all about being natural, not sleek and stiff.

Love,

Chelsea

DIY Braided Crown

DIY Braided Crown
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/Blendceowb.jpg

Have you ever heard of a crown braid? They can be really tricky, but they are so chic! Today I am going to teach you how to do a half crown braid. This hair style can be worn in both casual and formal settings.

1. Style your hair how you prefer it, whether it is straightened or curled.

2. Take the hair from the front section from one side of your head and braid it. Tie the end with a clear elastic. Do the same to the other side of your face. You should now have two braids that hang down on each side of your face. These braids should be relatively small.

half-up-braid9

3. Take one of the braids and pull it across the back of your head and secure the end with a bobby pin. Next, take the other braid and pull it across

the back of your head, just like you did with the first. Tuck the ends of this one under the beginning of the first braid to hide the ends. Pin the ends with a bobby pin. Hair spray your ‘do to keep it secure!

Braids are always a super chic, easy option of pulling your hair back! Try this hairstyle and see how much you will love it!

Want to know the hot new ‘dos for this spring? Well then stay tuned, because I am going to give you the 4-1-1 on everything “in” this spring for your luscious locks! Here is the top three looks for this season.

  2. Beach waves: Beach waves are a warm-weather staple. So simple, so easy, so adorable! Stray some dry shampoo on BP9-2your layers and roots, then work in some “beach” hair spray. I use the “Not Your Mother’s” beachy spray! This look is casual and effortless!
  3. Pixie cut: This is the most drastic style of them all! Pixie cuts are coming back in style for the summer months. If you are feeling feisty, try out this daring ‘do!

Whip your hair back and forth, and show ‘em what you got!

Quick, Effortless, Wavy Hair

Quick, Effortless, Wavy Hair
http://www.chelseacrockett.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/Chelsea-Crockett-wavy-hair.jpg

Hello Girls!

Wavy hair is my go-to hair.  It’s so effortless and great when you don’t feel like doing your hair.  Unfortunately, some of us are born with pin-straight hair or you have such thick hair it takes hours to curl.  I’ll show you a few easy ways to get beautiful waves without using a curling iron. Chelsea Crockett- braided waves

If you have thick, long hair, sleep in a long French braid at night.  When you wake up in the morning, take the braids out, and run your fingers through your hair.  You’ll have pretty waves in a flash!  If you have thin or short hair, I wouldn’t recommend this.  Your hair will look kinked and your ends won’t lay flat.

For those of you with thin or short hair, twist or braid small sections of your hair and run a straightener over it a few times.  This will create very soft waves.  Make sure to apply a small amount of hair spray so your waves don’t go flat.  If you have curling moose, layer it throughout your hair to keep the curls in place.  My favorite is Marc Anthony Strictly Curls foam or Curl Envy.  Love your hair and love your curls!
