I am convinced that I belong near the beach. I am going to Cali for college, so my beach dreams are coming true! I love beach fashion, from swimsuits to sunglasses to sandals. There is one more piece of beachwear that may just be my favorite, and that is coverups! Here are 3 of my favorite swimsuit coverup styles this season.

1. Lacey: Lacey coverups are fun and feminine. I love that you can still see some of your swimsuit peeking through the holes in the lace. If you prefer a delicate, girly coverup then this one is for you!


2. Kimono: If you are a boho kind of gal, then the beach kimono is right up your alley. This look is so effortless and breezy, plus kimonos come in a million different colors and patterns so you are bound to find one you love!


3. Sheer: To me, this look just screams “beach.” If you like high fashion or never go anywhere without being dressed up and accessorized, then I think you will dig this coverup. It is long, which gives it a more “dressy” look, and is sheer so it gives you a beachy, fun vibe as well.

Coverups are just another way to show your personal style when you are headed to the beach!

3 Swimsuit Cover-up Styles for Summer!

Whether you live by the beach or the pool, you’ll not only need cute swimsuits to wear while spending your days in the sun but stylish cover-ups to go along with them! There are three styles that are unique, trendy, and perfect to quickly slip on over your suit.

1. Wrap cover-ups are one of my favorite trends this summer. The picture on the right shows an example of a stylish wrap dress that’s super easy to throw on for days at the beach. I love how simple and light it is for long days spent in the sun!
2. When I think of a cover-up, I want something that’s light and can bear the heat. Lace cover-ups fit this description perfectly! Such as the one above, lace allows a breeze to cool you off much easier than other cover-ups. It’s my go-to for a hot day in the sun :)!
3. Tunic cover-ups are more on the fashionable side. You can find them in all different colors, materials, patterns, etc. These are more common and easier to find throughout the mall, at department stores, etc. Along with lace cover-ups, they’re light, cool, and easy to throw on!

I love lace! It is such a “must wear” in the summer time. There are so many ways to work lace into your summer wardrobe. Here are three of my favorite ways to rock lace this summer!

1. The sundress: Lace sundresses are my fav. If you are heading to any weddings, grad parties, or just a party in general this summer, your go-to outfit should start with a lace dress! If you want to add a country flare to your look, pair your dress with a pair of cowboy boots. If you are going for a more preppy look, pair your dress with nude heels, and a jean jacket if it is chilly.


2. The top: Lace tops are so boho/indie and I just adore them. If paired with high waisted shorts and beachy wave hair, you will rock this look for sure! You can also pair your lacy top with a pair of ripped up, distressed jeans for an effortlessly chic look.


3. The shorts: Lace shorts are so adorable. They have such a cute, innocent flare to them. Pair them with a sheer top and you are good to go!

2 Cutoff DIY"s!

If you’re like me, you like a good DIY! Today I am going to show you my top 3 favorite cutoff denim short DIYs.

My first denim DIY is the bleached cutoffs! These are super easy and hipster-ish. I prefer to do this DIY with high waisted shorts. I went to Goodwill and picked up a pair of old high-waisted jeans, brought them home, and cut them into shorts! If you want the shorts to be rolled, then cut them a little longer so you can roll them up. Take your shorts and put them in a laundry tub. Make sure to wear rubber gloves during this next step! Then, mix 2 parts water and 1 part liquid bleach into your bucket. When you put the shorts in the water, only put the bottoms of the shorts in because the bleach will climb up them. Check on the shorts every hour or so and take them out when you have the desired color! Make sure to rinse the shorts out really well and then put them in the washer. Viola!

The second DIY is lace cutoffs! First, find a pair of jeans you want to cut into shorts. Next, cut a triangle shaped hole in the outside seam of each leg of the shorts. Next, cut Triangles a bit larger than the holes you cut in the shorts out of the lace. Pin the triangles of lace to your shorts over the holes that you cut. Then sew the lace on, and Viola! Easy peasy!

     In this day and age, styles and trends come and go and only stay for a season or two.  This season, a trend that’s in, hot, and popular is boho chic.  If you don’t know what it is, boho chic is a bohemian, Indy type style that’s hot in Hollywood right now.  Celebrities such as the Kardashians, Vanessa Hudgens, Selena Gomez, and Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen have been seen wearing this new trend.

            The boho chic look can be described as usually loose fitting with tie dyed colors, floral patterns, or solids with crocheted lace.  It is most often worn as a dress but some skirts combined with cute shirts can bring on the look, too! 

            If you’re into this look, you can find related clothing at Urban Outfitters or Free People.  Although these stores are a little more expensive, you can ask for their clothing for your birthday or for other events/holidays for gifts.  You can also find this type of clothing at Forever 21 (of course) for a cheaper price.  I love this style because it’s unique and a fun, new way to dress.  It’s also super comfy!  You guys should totally check it out.  Enjoy!

Street style has become a huge trend in LA and NYC.  High waisted shorts, crop tops, lace up boots, and beanies have been seen on many celebrity teens and all throughout big cities in the US.  This style is cute and super trendy, but not necessarily girly or classy.  So what if you want to “girl” up your look?  Lace, pearls, and ballerina flats are exactly what you need!  Lace tops, dresses, and shorts are the “girliest” items of clothing you could own.  They can be dressed up or down with accessories and are perfect for any occasion.  Adding a pearl necklace to any outfit, even a pair of jeans and a tee, can take your look from average to girly in a matter of seconds.   The more strands of pearls you add to your look, the nicer your outfit becomes.  Of course, a pair of pearl earrings is a staple as well. 

                 A simple shoe that goes with almost any outfit is a pair of ballerina flats.  They look great with any look from jeans and a top to a dress.  They are comfortable, yet elegant.  You can go from grungy street style during the day to a classic look at night using these simple style tips.  Change up your style and be different.  Remember, stay classy ;).
