As you grow up, you start having to do big kid things, like going to job interviews. Sometimes interviews can be really nerve wracking! You don’t want to say or do something wrong, and you want to impress your interviewer so you get the job! Here are a few common mistakes that people make when they are in an interview.

1. Not doing your research on the company. You want to learn all that you can about the company before you interview with them. You can impress them by showing them how much you know about the company which also shows them how much you want the job.


2. Lacking humor, warmth, personality. You want to be upbeat and energetic with your interviewer, and you also want to let your personality shine through. Don’t be drab and shy in your interview, and make sure not to avoid eye contact or speak in hushed tones.


3. “Winging” the interview. Don’t go into the interview blind! Prepare for the interview, both mentally and physically! Make sure you have a copy of your resume and any other items that you interviewer requests, and also make sure that you have the right mindset going into the interview!


4. Not setting yourself apart from the other candidates. Don’t let the interviewer think that you are just like any other candidate, let them know that you are one in a million and that they would be wrong to let you go!
