The Truth about Freckles

When you start to think about it, freckles are weird.  They’re little brown spots on our skin that have a higher concentration of melanin than the rest of our bodies.  Some have them, some don’t.  Some love the, some hate them.  Some have them in the summer, but not in the winter.  Let’s get down to the truth on these crazy little specks we call freckles.

Freckles are a beautiful thing!  They make each person unique and their own individual.  Freckles often fade in the winter and get darker in the summer due to sun exposure.  When the skin is exposed to too much sun, your skin reacts by forming specks of melanin, otherwise known as freckles.  If you notice they are appearing rapidly, it might be a good idea to stay out of the sun for a little while.  If you don’t like your summer freckles, you can help prevent them by wearing sun screen, a hat, and clothing that covers your skin.

Although freckles are typically harmless, some can turn out to be dangerous.  It’s important to know your skin!   If you notice a freckle that is oddly shaped, different in color, or keeps randomly appearing and disappearing, get it checked out by your doctor ASAP!  Better safe than sorry!  If you don’t like your freckles, remember that you are unique and that’s what makes you beautiful.  You’re one of a kind!

I love you all!
