It’s the Little Things in Life

We’re always told to focus on the big picture. Sometimes we even skip out on details just to get to the end of a story or finish a project faster. The sad thing about our world today is that we live in a fast paced environment. We live in a world where the little things don’t matter. A simple “thank you” is even hard to find. Believe it or not, the little things DO make a huge difference. We just have to notice them.
What do I mean when I say “the little things in life”? It can be as simple as holding the door or helping someone carry their groceries. It can also be a sunny day or getting a test postponed. We are too busy consumed by our everyday lives that we forget to notice the good things around us. Picture this: You wake up stressed and in a bad mood. On your way to school there was zero traffic, it’s a bright sunny day, and you got a front row parking spot. Walking into school, someone holds the door for you, someone compliments your outfit, and you got an A on that test you were worried about. So far so good, right? It’s days like these where we must appreciate the little things in life. Yeah you might be having a bad day or bad week, but overlooking small blessings will only make you unhappier.
Next time you’re out and about, don’t only focus on your goal or the big picture, but soak in the little things. You can even make someone’s day brighter with a simple gesture.
