Henna tattoos have been around for decades.  For those of you who haven’t heard of henna, it’s an ink that is modernly used for temporary tattoos.  Some women in the 19th century first used the ink to dye things such as hair, skin, and clothing!  It’s a beauty statement unlike any other!

Chelsea Crockett - Henna DesignHenna ink can last anywhere between 1 to 4 weeks, depending on where you buy it or where you get it done.  When you first apply it or get it applied, the ink is a thick dry paste.  After a few hours, the paste is scraped off, leaving a design stained onto your skin!  The ink is light brown at first, but darkens to a black as the days go on.

You can even buy henna ink and do it yourself!  There are several stores that sell Henna, you just have to look around at different indie/earthy stores.  Usually it’s not too expensive and the quality is pretty good!  Some come with stencils or you can come up with your own design.  If you’re not the most artistic person, you can get a henna tattoo done professionally!  You can look up henna stands nearby or other places you can get them done.  They’re super cute and fun to have for a couple of weeks!

Enjoy! - Chelsea
